DETROIT (August 8, 2017) – Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Claressa “T-Rex” Shields became the unified WBC and IBF World Super Middleweight Champion last Friday night with a dominant fifth-round TKO of now former champion Nikki Adler.
 
Fighting in front of her home state fans at MGM Grand Detroit and in the main event of a nationally televised ShoBox: The New Generation, Shields put on a display of skills and power seldom seen by a first-time world-title challenger. Without any answers to the level of talent in front of her, Adler was forced to cover up and withstand the blazing speed of Shields’ fists for five one-sided rounds.
 
A driven competitor, Shields is on a mission to become the GWOAT (Greatest Woman of All Time) and the performance against Adler has the entire world watching. Four fights into her professional career and Shields is already the face of women’s boxing.

DETROIT (Aug. 3, 2017) – WBC Super Middleweight World Champion Nikki Adler and hometown favorite, two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Claressa Shields officially made weight on Thursday, one day before they headline a doubleheader tomorrow/Friday, Aug. 4 on ShoBox: The New Generation live on SHOWTIME® (10:30 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast) from MGM Grand Detroit.

 

Shields (3-0, 1 KO) tipped the scales at 165 ¼ pounds with the champion Adler (16-0, 9 KOs) of Germany coming in at 166 pounds even. In the ShoBox co-feature, world-ranked super bantamweight Vladimir Tikhonov (15-0, 9 KOs) of Russia will face Jesse Hernandez (8-1, 6 KOs) of Fort Worth, Texas, in an eight-round bout. Both fighters weighed in at 123 ¼ pounds.

 

Shields’ good friend and newly crowned UFC Featherweight World ChampionCris “Cyborg” Justino was on hand Thursday and will walk Shields into the ringon Friday. Also in attendance at the weigh-in was a potential future Shields’ opponent, five-time world champion Christina Hammer, who is undefeated at 21-0 and currently holds the WBC and WBO Middleweight titles.

 

Justino and Hammer met with the media in a forum moderated by Shields’ co-manager Mark Taffet before the weigh-in.

 

“I never thought it would happen, that the sports of MMA and boxing would come together like it has with the upcoming Mayweather-McGregor fight,” said Justino, the former Strikeforce and Invicta FC champion. “I think it’s great and incredible and could possibly open the door for other fights between the sports.”

 

“I’m looking forward to watching Claressa win the fight tomorrow night,” said Hammer. “I want to see her keep winning so we can fight one day. I only want to fight the best and she seems to be one of the best.”

DETROIT (July 28, 2017) – Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (3-0, 1 KO) says she’s in the shape of her life to take on reigning WBC Super Middleweight World Champion Nikki Adler (16-0, 9 KOs) of Germany next Friday, August 4, at the MGM Grand Detroit.
 
Shields will challenge for her first world title in the 10-round main event of Salita Promotions’ “BATTLE OF THE BEST” event, which will be televised live on ShoBox: The New Generation (10:30 p.m. ET/PT).
 
Shields says she’s not rattled by Adler’s recent remarks, that the United States should be ready for their golden girl to taker her first loss. In fact, she’s never rattled. She also gives her thoughts on her recent Twitter war with another top female fighter.
 
Give me your thoughts on Nikki Adler’s remarks about the US being ready for her to beat you. 
 
Nikki has to pump herself up, so she will say a lot the week of the fight. The US is ready alright… ready for its 2x Olympic gold medal winner to win her first pro world title!
 
Does it intimidate you or make you train harder when an opponent talks this way?
 
I’ve never been intimidated by anyone. I have had worse things said to me, I was gonna punish Nikki whether she talked trash or not. 
 
Talk to me about the pressure surrounding this fight. You’re going for your first world title so early with the entire world watching. 
 
I always have the entire world watching. Some people want me to win and some want the opposite! But I know what I can do, I’m just going to do it and dominate like always. No pressure! 
 
Tell me about winning all these awards and coming even further to the forefront of national celebrity. 
 
Winning awards is great; being recognized and respected is great also. I’ve done something that no other person in America has done, I’m the GWOAT! 
 
Do you do anything different in training for a world title fight?
 
Yes, you focus more, recover more, spar more rounds, and drink plenty of water! I’ve never been more ready!
 
Do you believe Nikki Adler has never watched you fight? 
 
No, I don’t believe she hasn’t ever watched me fight. That’s all mind games! She wants me to believe that. But in all honesty, nothing on the internet can help her in a fight against me! 
 
Do you dislike her now? 
 
(Laughs) Dislike is for emotional females! I love her! I’m gonna kick her ass! And give her a big thank you after.
 
Tell me about your Twitter feud with (fellow top female boxer) Layla McCarter. What’s going on there? 
 
Layla McCarter talks too much. For no reason. I didn’t have a problem with her at first, but she just upset because I say I’m P4P! And it’s the truth. She is just in denial! One minute she supports me and the next she is coming at me. In her interview after she beat Szabados, a girl I TKO’d in the fourth round previous, she says she can come to 160 and beat me. Then whenever I get props, or recognition, there she is again just saying slick stuff. I had to let her have it. 
 
What will your philosophy be as world champion if you win?
 
I don’t do ‘ifs.’ WHEN I become world champion, my philosophy will be to be so great that even your enemies will start to love me. God has been my rock for many years. He says ‘be humble to him,’ which I am! But I don’t have to be humble to man when I speak about my God-given ability.

DETROIT (July 27, 2017) – Detroit-based super welterweight contender Domonique Dolton is eager to return to action next weekend and get back in the mix.
 
Dolton (17-1-1, 9 KOs) hasn’t fought in 10 months and hasn’t fought in his home state in nearly seven years, but says manager David Segura, and new trainer Jonathan Banks have him at an all-new level of skill and fitness and ready for the world’s best.
 
He will take on Brockton, Massachusetts, veteran Antonio Chaves Fernandez in a six-round fight on the undercard of Salita Promotions’ “BATTLE OF THE BEST” event on Friday, August 4, at the MGM Grand Detroit.

Super welterweight contender Chris Pearson  was originally scheduled to face DeLoach, but was forced to withdraw after suffering a cut during training.

A highly regarded fighter out of the late Emanuel Steward’s Kronk Gym, the Detroit-native Dolton battled to a draw in an exciting matchup against then-unbeaten Oscar Molina last September. The 26-year-old took home victories over Victor Fonseca and Juan Carlos Rojas in 2015 and owns wins over Donatas Bondorovas, Richard Gutierrez and Jonathan Batista in his eight-year career.
In his first bout of 2016, the 22-year-old DeLoach delivered a sensational knockout over previously unbeaten Dillon Cook in his debut with new trainer and former world champion Paul Williams. DeLoach followed that up by knocking down previously unbeaten Junior Castillo twice on his way to a unanimous decision victory in June. The fighter from Augusta, Georgia turned pro in 2013 and won his first 10 fights before suffering a defeat in early 2015. He enters this bout on a five-fight win streak.

NICE, CALIF. (July 13, 2016) – Welterweight contender Levan Ghvamichava (17-2-1, 13 KOs) scored two knockdowns before stopping Breidis Prescott (29-8, 21 KOs) in the seventh round of the main event Tuesday night on Premier Boxing Champions TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS on FS1 and BOXEO DE CAMPEONES on FOX Deportes from Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino in Nice, California.
Ghvamichava outworked and outslugged Prescott, knocking him down in round four before knocking him down again in round seven and eventually forcing the stoppage. Prescott got off to a fast start, using his length and a strong right hand to dictate action in the first frame.
Prescott couldn’t keep up the work rate however, as Ghvamichava began to close the distance and created more toe-to-toe exchanges. In round four, Ghvamichava connected with a left hook and a right cross that dropped Prescott, who was able to beat the count and get back on his feet.
After the knockdown, Prescott attempted to revert to his round-one form by boxing and using his jab, but the persistent Ghvamichava kept working hard to get inside on the taller fighter. The hard work paid off in round seven when Prescott was severely staggered with a right hand before being sent to the canvas by a left hook.
Prescott was unable to recover as he beat the count narrowly but was on shaky ground. He hit the canvas two more times, both ruled pushes by the referee before a hard combination by Ghvamichava in the corner forced referee Michael Margado to stop the fight at 2:37 of round seven.
At the time of the stoppage, Ghvamichava had thrown nearly 100 more punches than Prescott (495-397) and had out landed him 134 to 110.
The co-main event of the night saw Marcos Hernandez (8-0, 2 KOs) earn a unanimous decision in a competitive and entertaining eight-round super welterweight brawl against previously unbeaten Thomas Hill (6-1, 1 KO).
Hernandez and Hill went back and forth from start to finish in the first eight round bout of either prospect’s career. Hill looked to dictate the action with his jab and body work, but it was Hernandez who had more success throughout the night with his left hand and various uppercuts.
The sixth round saw Hill lose a point early on in the round for a low blow. The deduction clearly increased the urgency in Hill who pressed forward, delivering the best action of the fight. Hill pushed the pace but Hernandez withstood the strong combinations and repeatedly caught Hill with strong left hands. Outside of staggering Hill once early in the seventh round, both fighters continued to throw hard punches all the way to the final bell.
The punch stats reflected the close nature of the fight as Hernandez out landed Hill 161 to 157 while it was Hill who had the slight edge in accuracy, landing 33 percent of his punches to 31 percent for Hernandez. Even without the point deduction, the judges still preferred Hernandez, who landed the more significant punches, and gave him the decision by scores of 79-72, 78-73 and 77-74.
The opening bout of the telecast saw middleweight prospect Malcolm McAllister (8-0, 8 KOs) remain unbeaten with a stoppage victory over Gilberto Yoruba (7-3, 4 KOs). Yoruba did not come out for the eighth and final round after McAllister dominated the first seven rounds of the fight.
McAllister controlled the fight by working off of his strong jab with powerful right hands and hooks to the body. Yoruba continued to come forward throughout the fight, wildly throwing numerous overhand rights looking to stun the undefeated prospect.
After staggering Yoruba several times in round four, McAllister really began to do damage when he teed off on Yoruba with multiple unanswered shots to close out the frame. The one-sided action showed in the punch stats as McAllister out landed Yoruba 184 to 76 eventually leading to a frustrated Yoruba being deducted a point in round six for low blows.

(July 8, 2016) – Unbeaten prospect “Madman” Marcos Hernandezis set for a super welterweight showdown with fellow unbeaten Thomas Hill that takes place Tuesday, July 12 on Premier Boxing Champions TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYSon FS1 and BOXEO DE CAMPEONES on FOX Deportes live from Robinson Rancheria Resort and Casino in Nice, California.
The July 12 event is headlined by exciting veteran contender Breidis Prescott battling Georgia’s Levan Ghvamichava. Televised coverage begins at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT and features undefeated prospect Malcolm McAllister taking on Brazil’s Gilberto Pereira.

Hernandez took the time to talk about his camp, his July 12 matchup and more as he nears fight night. Here is what Hernandez had to say:
On making his television debut on FS1 and FOX Deportes…
“This is the opportunity I’ve been waiting for since I turned professional.  I know I have to perform at a high level to prove I’m worthy of more TV dates.  FS1 is where a lot of fights are on these days so I’m very appreciative to the PBC and FOX for giving me a chance to showcase my talent.  Everyone can expect to see me go to war, and I’m going to leave everything in the ring, that you can guarantee.”
On his current training camp…
“This has been a wild camp.  I got great sparring at Wild Card with Hugo Centeno and a few others.  I had to travel outside of my area to get the sparring I needed to prepare me for this fight.  I’m in the best shape of my life at the moment and I’m looking to be peaking on fight night.  Everything is perfect right now.”
 
On facing undefeated fighter Thomas Hill…
“I know he’s a tall fighter with really good boxing skills, so I’ll be prepared for his movement.  He’s undefeated as well so I know it’s going to be a great fight. These are the fights that take you to the next level.  One of us is going to advance in their career and the other will suffer a setback.  I’m coming to win.”
On his relationship with his father/trainer Joey Hernandez…
“My dad has been with me since the beginning.  We know how to work with each other.  He’s made a lot of sacrifices to get me where I’m at today.  Of course we butt heads sometimes but at the end of the day, I know he’s got my back.  We are on this journey together and I’m grateful for all that he’s done for me.  We are a great team.”
On the importance of staying undefeated…
“It’s very important for my career to remain undefeated.  A win will keep me in the mix as far as fighting on big cards, especially on TV.  This is a major crossroad in my career and the time is now for me to take it to the next level.  I need to win this bout and march up the rankings, guaranteeing me more big fights.”

NICE, CALIF. (July 7, 2016) – Exciting veteran contender Breidis Prescott (29-7, 21 KOs) battles Georgia’s Levan Ghvamichava (16-2-1, 12 KOs) in the 10-round super welterweight main event of Premier Boxing ChampionsTOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS on FS1 and BOXEO DE CAMPEONES on FOX Deportes Tuesday, July 12 from Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino in Nice, California.
Ghvamichava was scheduled to face undefeated Domonique Dolton, but he was forced to withdraw after suffering a cut during training.
“I’ve been training hard already and I’m 100 percent ready for war,” said Prescott. “I don’t know a lot about this guy, but I’ll figure him out in the ring quickly. I like fighting on short notice. I beat Roberto Garcia on short notice so fighting this guy will not be a problem.”
Televised coverage on July 12 begins at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT and features undefeated prospect Malcolm McAllister(7-0, 7 KOs) battling Brazil’s Gilberto Pereira (7-2, 4 KOs) in eight-rounds of super middleweight action while undefeated prospects Thomas Hill (6-0, 1 KO) and Marcos Hernandez (7-0, 2 KOs) compete in an eight-round super welterweight fight.

A standout amateur representing Colombia, Prescott fights out of Miami and was undefeated in his first 21 pro bouts, including a first round knockout of former world champion Amir Khan that cemented his spot in the sport. The 33-year-old also owns victories over Richar Abril, Jose Augustin Feria and Francisco Figueroa and enters this fight having won his last two fights heading into this July 12 showdown.
Ghvamichava will look to rebound from a defeat in his last bout after riding a five-fight win streak that had dated back to 2013. The 30-year-old took down previously unbeaten fighters Jonathan Garcia and Chris Singleton in 2014 and followed it up with triumphs over Cameron Kreal and Cosme Rivera in 2015. Originally from Poti, Georgia, Ghvamichava now trains out of Hayward, California.

CHICAGO (June 9, 2015) – A full slate of exciting fights round out a stacked undercard coming to UIC Pavilion in Chicago on Friday, June 12 as heavyweight bruiser and fan favorite Artur Szpilka (18-1, 13 KOs) takes on Manuel Quezada (29-9, 18 KOs) in a 10-round heavyweight attraction.

 

The full night of undercard action supports the Premier Boxing Champions on Spike doubleheader that features Cuban boxing sensation Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara (20-2-2, 12 KOs) taking on veteran Delvin Rodriguez (28-7-4, 16 KOs) and Russian knockout artist Artur Beterbiev (8-0, 8 KOs) facing Alexander Johnson (16-2, 7 KOs). This edition of PBC on Spike begins at 9 p.m. ET. Doors at UIC Pavilion open at5 p.m. CT with the first fight set for 5:15 p.m. CT.

 

Also competing in undercard action is the explosive Anthony Peterson (34-1, 22 KOs) who battles Ammeth Diaz (32-11, 23 KOs) in a 10-round super lightweight bout and undefeated rising contender Eleider Alvarez (16-0, 9 KOs), who battles Anatoliy Dudchenko (16-0, 9 KOs) in a 10-round light heavyweight duel.

 

Ronald Hearns, the son of the legendary Thomas “Hitman” Hearns, returns to the ring to(27-5, 21 KOs) face David Thomas (10-4-2, 8 KOs) in a six-round super welterweight contest while undefeated prospect Domonique Dolton (16-0, 8 KOs) faces Victor Fonseca (9-4-1, 7 KOs)in eight rounds of super welterweight action.

 

The card also features a slew of Illinois’ top prospects including 24-year-old Ramiro Carillo (8-0, 5 KOs) out of Chicago battling 31-year-old Dedrick Bell (12-23-1, 7 KOs) out of Memphis in a six-round welterweight contest and Chicago’s Josh Hernandez will make his pro debut as he faces 23-year-old Joe Estrada (0-3)from Kearney, Missouri in a four-round welterweight battle.

 

Rounding out the local flavor is 20-year-old Jose Quezada (6-0, 5 KOs) from Alsip, Ill., taking on 26-year-old Jeffrey Ramos (4-3, 2 KOs)from Puerto Rico in a six-round lightweight bout and 22-year-old undefeated prospect Eddie Ramirez (8-0, 6 KOs) out of Aurora, Ill., battling 35-year-old Gerardo Cuevas (17-14, 15 KOs) from Mexico City in an eight-round junior welterweight attraction.

With only one loss to the undefeated Bryant Jennings on his record, the 26-year-oldSzpilka will look to build on his most recent victories, a unanimous decision in Nov. 2014 over heavyweight star Tomas Adamek and a second round TKO over Ty Cobb in April. Born in Wieliczka, Poland, he has made a name for himself in Chicago having fought there three times before and picking up knockout victories each time. He faces the 38-year-oldQuezada out of Wasco, California by way of Mexico.

 

The brother of former world champion Lamont Peterson, the 30-year-old Peterson hopes to soon make a name for himself on the big stage. Owner of wins over Daniel Attah, Dominic Salcido and Marcos Leonardo Jimenez, the Washington, D.C. product is looking to win his fifth consecutive fight on June 12. He will be opposed by the 32-year-old former world title challenger Diaz who fights out of Panama.

 

A 2008 Colombian Olympian, the 31-year-old Alvarez has risen to contender status in the light heavyweight division as he remained undefeated with three big wins in 2014. Fighting out of Montreal by way of Columbia, his 2015 debut will also be his U.S. debut when he takes on the 36-year-old Dudchenko who fights out of Los Angeles by way of Ukraine.

 

Son of the legendary Thomas “Hitman” Hearns, the 36-year-old Hearns looks to build on his last win, a fifth round knockout over Roberto Ventura in Dec. 2014. The Southfield, Michigan native is an exceptional athlete who played Division 1 basketball at American University while getting his degree in Criminal Justice. He faces the 32-year-old Thomasout of Evansville, Indiana.

 

Undefeated since turning pro in 2008, the 25-year-old Dolton got off to a strong start in 2015 as he dominated Juan Carlos Rojas in February. The Detroit-native looks to keep his momentum going when he meets the 22-year-old Mexican Fonseca on June 12.
