SFT 27 this Thursday screening on FITE from Brazil

The wait is over!

Two title fights featured on SF7 27

This Thursday on FITE from Brazil

SAO PAULO, Brazil (July 12, 2021) – The first SFT event of 2021, SFT 27, will be held this Thursday night (July 15) in Sao Paulo, Brazil, featuring a pair of SFT title fights, in SFT’s first show since last December.

SFT 27 will be streamed exclusively on FITE in the United States and worldwide on pay per view via the FITE app and website (www.FITE.tv), starting at 6:00 p.m. ET / 3:00 p.m. PT, for only $14.99.

“The wait is over,” SFT president David Hudson proclaimed.  “Our main event between rising star ‘Maumito’ and always dangerous Bispo will determine who the King of Brazilian lightweights is today.  We also have another SFT title fight as Cantuaria and Borges battle for the vacant SFT female flyweight crown.  The rest of this card is loaded as well with some of Brazil’s up-and-coming fighters

The main event pits SFT’s 2020 Fighter of the Year, Manuel “Maumito” Sousa (6-0-0, SFT: 6-0-0), against veteran Brendo “The Monster” Bispo (17-4-0, SFT: 1-0-0) for the vacant SFT Lightweight Championship.

The 23-year-old Sousa is a tremendous striker whose overall combat sports record includes 23 straight victories in kickboxing, 18 by knockout, and all six of his pro MMA fights have been victories in SFT competition, none going into the third round.

“I’m training well, a lot on the ground, because I know he has a Jiu-Jitsu black belt,” Sousa reported. “But since I’m training hard, I’m not worried about that. MMA brings together all areas, so you need to be ready. In training, we put ourselves in danger, as if we were in the fight, and that increases my confidence, and it keeps the gas in check. At 27 years old, Brendo Bispo has more experience in professional MMA than me with 17 wins and four losses. ‘Maranhão’ sees the point as positive, however, he knows that it is not a guarantee of victory. Therefore, he benefits from his work carried out at Chute Boxe Diego Lima, one of the main teams in the country.”

Currently on a 6-fight win streak, Bispo accepted the challenge of fighting hot prospect Sousa after a few other fighters passed on the opportunity.  Acclaimed as one of the top lightweights in Brazil, Bispo now has the chance to prove he’s No. 1 versus Sousa.  Bispo trains at the famed Chute Boxeo, under the direction of the famed Charles Oliveira.  A solid all-around fighter, the more experienced Bispo has seven victories by knockout, along with five more by submission.

“As often as I’ve fought,” Bispo said, “I always think like it’s the first time. So, I don’t generate as many expectations and my mind goes blank, something that helps me a lot in my daily life and in the fight. On the other hand, I’ve learned a lot by climbing in the cage to fight 22 times, so that helps. The main one, however, is the training at Chute Boxe Diego Lima. Now, in the final stretch of the fight, we are going more slowly, working on our strategy, rest, and weight loss. Diego Lima is my teacher, friend, and manager (laughs), so he’s been with me. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to be in my corner, but he spent the necessary time. You can expect a renewed Brendo; more technical, faster, and stronger.

In the co-featured event, Mayra Cantuaria (8-3-1, SFT: 2-0-0) faces Paty Borges (4-4-0, SFT: 2-2-0) for the vacant SFT Female Flyweight Championship.  Cantuaria, who has fought the in the traditional Japanese event, Pacrase, while Borges has won her last two fights heading into her showdown with Cantuaria.

Another sensational match-up is Bruno “Beirutel” Tavares (13-5-1, SFT: 1-0-0) against featherweight Thiago “Manchinha” Silva (19-9-0 (SFT: 0-1-0). Other exciting MMA fights include welterweight Luis “Hulk” Fernando (18-6-0) vs. Alex “Canguru” Sandro (10-3-0), featherweight Marcos “Maraja” Rodriguez (16-5-0, SFT: 1-0-0) vs. Estabill Amato (10-4-0, SFT: 1-2-0), bantamweight Deja Moura (5-2-0, SFT: 1-0-0) vs. Manoel Lima “Aranja” Silva (5-4-0, SFT: 1-1-0), flyweight Marciano Ferreira (5-1-0, SFT: 1-0-0) vs. Antonio “Piaui” Rodrigues (9-2-0, SFT: 0-1-0), undefeated bantamweight Fernando “Fernandinho” Henrique (3-0-0, SFT: 1-0-0) vs. Apollo “Deus Da Guerra” Gomes (5-0-0) and pro debuting Luana Santos vs. bantamweight Majorie “Brutal” Barragan (1-0-0).

Two SFT Xtreme and two Jiu-Jitsu fights are also on tap.

The two SFT Xtreme fights will be held as welterweight Cicero Evangelista (SFT Xtreme: 1-0-0) meets Kavem “Mexicano” Felipe, and bantamweight Nicholas Pestilli takes on Ramon “Sayajin” Costa. The wildly popular, uniquely entertaining SFT Xtreme competition allows striking, kicking and knees, fighters wear 4-ounce gloves, and clinching and fighting on the mat is prohibited.

A pair of Jiu-Jitsu matches will showcase William Cilli vs. Elaias “Xuxu” Silverio, and Henrique “Rasputin” Gomes vs. Felipe “Felipinho” Cusciana

All fights are subject to change.

SFT dominating Brazilian National MMA Rankings

SAO PAULO, Brazil (May 25, 2021) – Fighters in SFT’s stable, according to MMA Premium, dominated May’s Brazilian National MMA Rankings.

In the male pound-for-pound ratings, SFT stable fighters captured three of the top four positions: 2, Marcos “Babuino” de Santos (33-13-1, SFT: 3-0-), 3. Wellington “Predador” Prado (11-2-0, SFT: 5-1-0), 4. Thiago “Manchinha” Silva (19-9-0, (SFT: 0-1-0).

“Babuino” and “Predador”, respectively, are also the top 2 ranked featherweights, while Junior and Acacio “Pequeno” dos Santos (13-3-0, SFT: 2-0-0) finished one-two in the light heavyweight division.

SFT women also placed second and third in the women pound-for-pound ratings, respectively, with strawweights Julia Polastri (8-2-0, SFT: 1-0-0) and Karine “Killer” Silva (13-4-0, SFT: 2-0-0).

SFT swept the top three positions in female bantamweight rankings, in order, with Karine “Killer,” who was SFT’s 2020 Submission of the Year recipient, Gisele “Gi” Moreira (9-4-0, SFT: 1-0-0) and Sidy Rocha (12-8-2, SFT: 0-1-0).

“SFT was established in 2018 by our film and production company,” SFT president David Hudson said.  “Two events were produced, but then we were on hold for five years, and back then, I had nothing to do with SFT.  When events were resumed in 2018, I wondered why a country that played a major role in the creation of MMA and UFC didn’t have a world-class promotion.  After analyzing what was being done and attending SFT 4 in Brazil, I was sure the problem was how things were being done.  I decided to walk away from the film industry and dedicated my life to MMA.

“Under my leadership, SFT has had a whole new way of promoting MMA.  Each decision I made, I was told that by many that I was wrong, and it would result in the end of SFT.  Numbers don’t lie and thanks to God, I I have the numbers that prove I was correct., However, as innovative and even crazy my ideas may have been, I knew that at the end of the day our fights had to be top notch. I had a 3-year plan and my goal was to have top 10 Brazilian fighters in each weight class in SFT, excluding those who had contracts outside of Brazil.”

SFT is tentatively prepared to return July 10th with SFT 27 in Brazil.

“We were on track to reaching our goal, but the pandemic caused us to pause at the year of year too,” Hudson explained.  “Due to inactivity, many of our fighters dropped out of the top 5 and 10 in national rankings.  We still have a lot of the best of the best in Brazil in our stable and in July we will return with our monthly events.  I am sure that in a year, things will be back on track, and we’ll be closer to our goal.

“Part of our strategy was to have events in the United States, but there are still travel restrictions for Brazilians going to the USA.  As soon as we are able to bring our fighters to the United States to fight, we will, and then we will be one step closer to attaining my goal.”

“I respect her (Serafim) consistent ground game and I believe our fight will be a classic ground game,” Assis commented, “but I’m not just going to fight in one MMA mode.  I feel good and I’m ready in all areas.  I will be prepared for whatever comes fight night.

“I always expect to bring my best.  I’m always working hard to get good results and I want to realize my dream of winning this SFT belt, and proving I belong at the top of my weight class.  We’re going into this fight in search of a big win and I’m working daily to give MMA fans a good fight.”

Silva (12-4-0, SFT: 1-0-0) and Rocha (12-7-2, SFT: 9-0-0) are well matched in a battle of Brazilian bantamweights, while strawweight Julia Polastri (7-2-0, SFT: 0-0-0) risks her 5-fight win streak  against Jessica “So Na Manha” Evelyn Cunha (8-2-0, SFT: 0-0-0).

Brazil vs. Argentina is always a fierce rivalry in any sport, especially MMA, and the renewal pits Brazilian strawweight Bianca Sattelmayer versus her Argentinian opponent, Florencia Greco, in an SFT Xtreme match (SFT Xtreme allows striking, kicking and knees with 4-ounce gloves; clinching and fighting on the mat is prohibited).

“We’re really excited about this unique event,” Hudson concluded.  “SFT’s return to Brazil is a special event because it’s for Breast Cancer Awareness.  The main event has all the ingredients to be one of the best female fights in years.  Our Xtreme fight showcases the ultimate rivalry in sports, Brazil versus Argentina. SFT 23promises to be a memorable evening of female combat sports action.”

SFT 23 VR: Jeffrey vs. Assis OFFICIAL RESULTS

Aaron Jeffrey punches-out Bruno Assis in 3rd round

MIAMI (August 15, 2020) – The long-awaited American debut of SFT MMA & Xtreme (Standout Fighting Tournament), delayed several months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, finally happened this past Thursday night with a “closed show” at Wynwood Studios in Miami, Florida.

“SFT 23 VR: Jeffrey vs. Assis” was streamed live and exclusively worldwide on pay per view via the FITE app and website (www.FITE.tv), as well as taped live to air at future dates on regional television throughout the U.S. on United Fight Alliance (UFA), as well as on Brazilian television.

“Putting this event together was the most difficult thing I’ve done in SFT,” SFT president David Hudson said. “The fight card feels like it changed daily. At some point we had 12 fights with a very international main card, made up of highly ranked athletes. We probably signed around 20 matches and ended up with five. It was also our first time promoting in the U.S. and without everybody at full force made things very difficult, as well as the production side.  We ended up with a much inferior show, as far as production goes, compared to what SFT always puts out. However, the fights where really good, and at the end of the day, it’s all about the fight. I’m glad we did it.  It’s not the start I had hoped for, but now we are ready to return in full force. We are looking at end of November, early December, for the next USA show.

We want to bring back Jeffrey and Jornel as soon as possible.  With flight restriction to and from Brazil, along with restrictions to promoting an open-door event, I’m not exactly sure about getting them on our cards but, hopefully, we can still get it done still this year in Brazil.”

Canadian middleweight Aaron Jeffrey (8-2-0) took a step closer to reaching his dream of fighting in the UFC, registering a sensational knockout on punches of his Brazilian opponent, Bruno “Brunao” Assis (9-5-0) in the opening round.  The 27-year-old Jeffrey, of Niagara Falls, Ontario, unleashed a barrage of lethal punches to end the fight for his sixth victory in his last seven fights.  This was the SFT debut for both of these main event fighters.  Jeffrey vs. Assis was selected as Fight of the Night and each fighter was awarded a $1000 bonus.

In the co-featured event, Luiz “Buscape” Firmino won a 3-round decision over fellow Brazilian Markus “Maluco” Perez in a grappling match contested at a 198-pound catchweight.

Undefeated Floridian lightweights Jornel “Ai” Lugo (4-0-0), representing West Palm Beach, and Missouri’s Cortavious Romiuous (4-1-0) put on an entertaining show in their SFT debuts and Lugo emerged with a tough victory by way of a 3-round split decision.

In a battle of Puerto Rican lightweights, James Hay (3-1-0) locked in a Rear Naked Choke to submit Orlando Santana (2-2-0) in the second round.

Miami light heavyweight Joshua Da Silveira (2-0-0) remained unbeaten in spectacular fashion, knocking out pro-debuting Cody Rolling, fighting out of Banner Elk, North Carolina,  with a perfectly placed kicked to the head in the opening round.  Da Silveira received a $1000 bonus because his was selected as Knockout of the Night.
