JASON LACHANCE: “I WAS BLESSED WITH AN AMAZING OPPORTUNITY

Lewiston, Maine (November 16, 2015) – New England Fights (NEF), America’s number-one regional fight promotion, will hold its next event, “NEF XX: A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE” qhov no Hnub vas xaum, November 21, 2015 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. The event will feature a first for Mainemixed-martial-arts (MMA) bouts and professional boxing bouts on the same event with an MMA cage and a boxing ring set up side-by-side. In a featured lightweight amateur MMA bout, Jason “2nd ChanceLachance (2-2) yuav siv tau CJ Ewer (4-2) at a fight weight of 155-pounds.

Lachance is coming off a first-round submission victory over David Thompson (0-1) tom “NEF XIXthis past September. He is confident in his abilities and predicts victory over Ewer when they meet this weekend. While Lachance’s future in the sport appears brighter every day, he vows not to overlook the task at hand and to let his Christian faith guide him through his career.

I will beat CJ in any way possible,” said Lachance. “MMA is a sport where anything can happen. I am fully prepared for whatever may come on the 21st. I will focus on my next opponent when this fight is out of my way. I will not overlook my opponent. God will set up the future for me, as he has thus far.

Lachance credits his faith and the sport of MMA with helping him conquer his much-publicized addiction to heroin. He began training over two years ago at MMA Athletix in Bath, Maine, where he also joined the Victory Church ministry of the gym’s then-owner Ryan Cowette (2-3).

I was blessed with an amazing opportunity, and I couldn’t be more grateful. The fight game is the highest of highs and lowest of lows. The most defining moments of my short career have not come from inside the cage, but from learning and growing day to day as a man and as a fighter.

Recently, Lachance and teammate Norman Fox (4-2) purchased the MMA Athletix gym from Cowette after Cowette decided to redirect his focus to his roofing business. When the challenges of small business ownership reared its head, Lachance once again lets his faith guide him.

Purchasing the gym was a huge moment for both Norman and myself,” stated Lachance. “We had to sit back and really evaluate what we wanted out of our careers, and also out of our business. We quickly realized that with full time jobs, we don’t have time to be coaches, trainers, fighters and business owners and still expect to succeed. We prayed on it and God sent us the perfect team of coaches and trainers, along with a new group of up and coming fighters.

MMA has already changed my life in many ways. I expect to take it to the top, as a business owner and as a fighter. God has given me the opportunity to live my dream, day after day.

EWER AND LACHANCE TO LOCK HORNS AT NEF XX

Lewiston, Maine (September 29, 2015) – New England Fights (NEF), America’s number-one regional fight promotion, will hold its next event, “NEF XX: A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE” rau Hnub vas xaum, November 21, 2015 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. Earlier today, the promotion announced the addition of an amateur lightweight bout to the MMA portion of the fight card. CJ Ewer (4-2) is scheduled to face JasonSecond ChanceLachance (2-2) at a fight weight of 155-pounds.

CJ Ewer is a veteran of the United States Air Force security forces. He is a product of Young’s MMA in Bangor, Maine where he has honed his craft under coach Chris Young. The cut to 155-pounds will be a first for Ewer.

After watching Lachance’s videos, it’s obvious he comes into the cage well prepared,” noted Ewer of his opponent. “He’s only lost to Jarod Tyler and Dom Cofone, who are both hardcore fighters, and his win against Steve Bang shows that he has a lot of different skills and drive. It’ll be a great opportunity to show how I can compete at 155.

Jason Lachance is a member of MMA Athletix based in Bath, Maine. He has faced stiff competition in the first several fights of his career, as Ewer noted, so Lachance is accustomed to standing across the cage from the cream of the crop. He is coming off a first round submission victory over David Thompson (0-1) earlier this month atNEF XIX.Lachance will look to continue his winning ways when he meets Ewer atNEF XXon November 21.

DEXTER GETS SECOND CHANCE TO WIN GOLD IN A NEW WEIGHT CLASS

Lewiston, Maine (Lub yim hli ntuj 19, 2015) – New England Fights (NEF), America’s number-one regional fight promotion, will hold its nineteenth mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event, “NEF XIX: HOMECOMING,” Rau hnub Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. That night, Team Irish’s Ricky Dexter (3-1) is scheduled to meet CJ Ewer (3-2) in an NEF MMA Amateur Welterweight Title eliminator. Recently, Dexter was the guest on the NEF Podcast hosted by NEF co-owner and matchmaker Matt Peterson.

A veteran of the United States Navy, Dexter joined Marcus Davis’s Team Irish gym after moving home to Bangor, Maine at the conclusion of his military service. Eventually, Dexter took over the fitness program at the gym, now known as “207 Athletes.Dexter touched on his progression from joining the gym to becoming a trainer.

I wanted to keep working out and keep in good shape,” said Dexter of his return home to Maine from military service. “I figured I’d go work out with the guys at Team Irish. I started doing their workout regimen. I dabbled a little bit with MMA training. Slowly I got more into it over time. It was a good workout. As time went on, I got better at it. I got more addicted with the more I learned, with Marcus’s knowledge, I got addicted to it. He hired me to run his fitness class. After that, I figured I’d take a fight. I was in pretty good shape.

Earlier this year, Dexter engaged in a grueling slugfest with Cory Trial (1-1) tom “NEF XVI.It was just Dexter’s second fight in the MMA cage. The bout ended in a knockout victory for Dexter. The highlight-reel knockout will, no doubt, be in the running for a nomination forKO of the Year” thaum lub “NEF 2015 Year-End Awards.

The first round I pretty much remember,” recalled Dexter. “The second round I kind of went into a trance. I don’t really remember much of it, just from watching the video. When you get to that point your training takes over. You kind of black out and, before you know it, you’re getting your hand raised.

In all, Dexter finished his first three amateur bouts on his way to getting a shot at the NEF MMA Amateur Lightweight Championship atNEF XVIIIthis past June against Josh Harvey (4-1). Dexter would lose the bout by first-round submission. AtNEF XIX” rau September 12, Dexter will have a chance to avenge that loss when he meets Havey’s Young’s MMA teammate CJ Ewer in a bout that will be a title eliminator for the NEF MMA Amateur Welterweight Championship.

He’s a really good wrestler, a big guy,” Dexter said of Ewer. “He looks like he’s pretty skilled. He comes from a respected school in Young’s. We all know what he’s gonna do, and we all know what I have to do.

WELTERWEIGHT TITLE QUALIFIER ADDED TO NEF XIX FIGHT CARD

Lewiston, Maine (Lub Xya hli ntuj 6, 2015) – New England Fights (NEF), America’s number-one regional fight promotion, will hold its nineteenth mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event, “NEF XIX,” rau Hnub vas xaum, September 12, 2015 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. The winner of the bout will get a shot at becoming the inaugural NEF MMA Amateur Welterweight Champion at a later date.

Ricky Dexter is a member of Team Irish in Brewer, Maine and a protégé of the legendary MarcusThe Irish Hand GrenadeDavis (22-11). Dexter got off to a remarkable 3-0 start in his amateur career, finishing all three of his opponents in the first round. Last month, Dexter faced CJ Ewer’s teammate Josh Harvey (4-1) in a losing effort for the NEF MMA Amateur Lightweight Title. Dexter will look to avenge that loss on September 12.

The taste of defeat definitely left a foul taste in my mouth,” recalled Dexter of his most recent fight. “You better believe I’m more hungry than ever to get this win. Expect to see a Ricky Dexter you’ve never seen before.

Similarly, CJ Ewer also got off to a 3-0 start in his amateur career. The summer of 2013 saw Ewer defeat his first three opponents in a matter of a mere ten weeks. He would put his MMA career on hold to serve his country in the United States Air Force security forces before returning to NEF this past spring to face Connor Barry (5-1). Barry would be Ewer’s second loss in a row. He recognizes that to get back on the winning track will not be easy with Dexter standing in his way. Ewer is a member of Young’s MMA in Bangor, Maine.

Ricky Dexter seems like a really tough fighter,” said Ewer. “You can’t judge him on his last fight because Josh Harvey is elitehe’s the next Ray Wood. I feel like this will be a great match up.

FIGHT ADDED TO NEF XVII CARD WILL FEATURE LONG-AWAITED RETURN

Lewiston, Maine (Lub peb hlis ntuj 24, 2015) – New England Fights (NEF), America’s number-one regional fight promotion, returns to the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine on Tim 11, 2015 with its seventeenth mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event. NEF released the full fight card for the event last week. Earlier today, the company announced the addition of an amateur catchweight bout to the fight card. CJ Ewer (3-1) will face ConnorBare KnuckleBarry (4-1) at a fight weight of 165-pounds.

Ewer, a member of Young’s MMA in Bangor, Maine, took the NEF MMA amateur ranks by storm in the summer of 2013. In the matter of just ten weeks, Ewer chalked up three victories, the last of which was over veteran Crowsneck Boutin (6-7). His streak was brought to a halt by the tough Wayne Ahlquist (1-1) later that fall. Ewer would take more than a year off to serve his country in the United States Air Force security forces. Now back home and training with his teammates at Young’s, Ewer looks forward to testing himself once again in the NEF MMA cage.

I’m very anxious to get back to competing within NEF after being away for almost a year and a half,” said Ewer. “And I’m thankful Young’s welcomed me back and took the time to train me. Connor looks like a very tough opponent, and it’ll be a great test for me.

Connor Barry is an independent fighter currently based out of Lowell, Massachusetts. Barry has become known as afinisherin the region, having defeated three of his opponents via technical knockout (TKO) and one via submission. His only loss to date came by judge’s decision. Already having put in two fight camps for a planned pro-debut that never happened, Barry is confident that he is in the best shape of his career and will have a successful NEF debut at Ewer’s expense.

I took this fight because I have had my pro debut fall through twice,” said Barry. “I have been training for a pro fight for five months now, so in terms of conditioning, he’s gonna be in for a surprise. In terms of fighting, I think I outclass him in every single aspect. From watching his fights, he looks scared to bang, and if he’s scared to bang against me, he’ll get knocked out quick.

NEF’s next MMA event, “NEF XVII,” is scheduled to take place onTim 11, 2015 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine.
