Granite Chin Promotion presents Thanksgiving Eve show “Championship Boxing at The Armory”

QUINCY, Misa. (November 19, 2018) – A major change has been made to this Wednesday night’s (Nov. 21) “Championship Boxing at The Armory” khadi, zoperekedwa ndi granite Chin Kukwezedwa (GCP) on Thanksgiving Eve, at the National Guard Armory (70 Victory Road) in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
The originally scheduled headliner, three-time world title challenger Aleksandra Magziak Lopes (18-4-3, 1 KO), withdrew when she accepted a world title shot Dec. 8 ku Carson, California, against undisputed World welterweight champion Cecelia “Choyamba Lady” Braekhus (34-0, 9 Ko) in the main event on HBO.
Many of New England’s most talented and popular boxers will still be in action this Wednesday evening. GCP co-promoter Mkhalidwe wa Chris (26-4, 21 Ko), fighting out of Quincy (MA), will defend his New England cruiserweight title against challenger Nick Lavin (5-9, 4 Ko), of Shelton (CT), in the new eight-round main event.
The 33-year-old Traietti, an Iraq War veteran and college graduate, defeated the heavy-handed Lavin by way of an eight-round unanimous decision August 5, 2017 for the N.E. udindo.
“As disheartening as it was to lose Aleks on this show,” Traietti said, “we are thrilled she’s getting a career defining opportunity on HBO. She’s worked hard for the opportunity and we wish her the best of luck December 8th.
“We shuffled some of the bouts around and moved my fight to the main event. Mugawo tinkamenyana, Nick showed up and gave me eight tough rounds. “We are excited to be running once again on Thanksgiving Eve,” said GCP co-promoter Mkhalidwe wa Chris, who will also be fighting on this card. “Throughout the last few years, Granite Chin has been trying to make it a Thanksgiving tradition to bring local boxing to the area as a fun way to get people together.”
The wildly popular Lopes (18-4-3, 1 KO), fighting out of Marshfield, MA, is a native of Poland. She hasn’t fought since last December due to injuries suffered in a car accident. Lopes will face
Missouri welterweight Ashleigh Curry (7-11-4, 1 KO) in the six-round main event.
Zakale n.e. welterweight ngwazi Derek “Dokotala wa Opaleshoni” Silveira (14-2, 7 Ko), fighting out of Salem, MA, takes on Mexican veteran Franciso “El Mono” Medel (12-15, 8 Ko) in the six-round co-featured event.

WORCESTER, Misa. (July 31, 2018) – A dozen years after he captured his third world title in two different weight classes, seven since his last fight, “The Gallo” Jose Rivera returns to the ring August 17 kuti litsogolera “Homecoming”, zoperekedwa ndi granite Chin Kukwezedwa (GCP) Pankhani yokhala ndi Rivera Zikondwerero (RPE), pa The Palladium mu Worcester, Massachusetts.
Wazaka 45 Rivera (41-6-1, 24 Ko) has already lost more than 30 mapaundi, now within four pounds of his contracted weight, since he started training earlier this year. He will headline against Ma rubeen “Wankhondo Wamakono” Gavan (27-26-4, 10 Ko) in the eight-round main event.
Mu 1997, Rivera captured the International Boxing Organization (IBO) World welterweight title, kukatseka Gilberto Flores mu kwachiwiri. Six years later, he traveled to Germany to take on undefeated, kwawo ankakonda Michel Trabant (38-0) for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) World Welterweight Championship, in which Rivera won a 12-round decision and the belt.
In front of nearly 10,000 hometown fans in Worcester, Rivera capped his boxing career by winning a 12-round unanimous decision in 2006 over defending champion Alejandro García(25-1) for the WBA World super welterweight title.
“The idea to return to the ring started with my son. A.J., and I talking about chasing history,” Rivera anafotokoza. “We are not able to put that together right now (A.J. was born with Spina Bifida and he was unable to secure medical clearance in time for the Aug. 17TH show.), but because of my hard work these last six months, I felt that it was only fitting to continue with my fight.
“Granite Chin Promotions has been very instrumental to make sure that this show is put together in the most professional manner possible. I won’t think our promotional company (Jos and A.J. own and operate RPE Promotions Entertainment) would have been able to pull this off. All the negotiations had to be done and me training the only way I know how, at a championship level, would have been too much for us to handle.”

We were friends during his championship days and I know how incredibly committed and disciplined Jose is. What everyone should know is how well Jose has taken care of himself during his thirties and into his forties. He’s been training like he’s 25 and Jose’s going to surprise some people.”
During Rivera’s title reigns, unlike other world champions, he also held a full-time job as a court officer in the Massachusetts Trial Court, a position in Worcester that he still holds 17 years later. Between working and training, never mind his family responsibilities, Jose somehow manages to balance everything in his extremely busy life.
“Let’s just say it makes for a busy schedule,” Rivera remarked. “I am committed to taking care of my family and will do whatever it takes. I usually run before work and train after work. Starting early and finishing late makes for busy days, but the job needs to get done. Pompano, I’m in the middle of the hardest period of training. The week of the fight is more about preparing mentally and making weight. There’s nothing you can do the week of the fight to help you get into better shape.”
Rivera isn’t under any illusions that his comeback will lead to another major world title. The plan is for him to have two more fights to reach a total of 50 monga ovomereza, but he’s taking things one fight at a time, and he still hopes his next fight, tentatively slated for later this year, will be on the same card as his son’s pro debut.

QUINCY, Misa. (April 2, 2018) — This Saturday night’s “Fight Night at The Zone”, zoperekedwa ndi granite Chin Kukwezedwa, has been strengthened by the late addition of hot prospect Irvin Gonzalez to a card already showcasing some of the best young, professional boxers in New England.
Granite Chin Promotions is on a mission to establish a fan-base in the Granite State, providing a fan friendly, full entertainment experience at The Sports Zone in Derry, New Hampshire.
Gonzalez (8-0, 7 Ko), fighting out of Worcester, MA, anali 2015 New England Golden Magolovesi ngwazi, who qualified for the 2016 Olympic Mayesero. The 21-year-old featherweight prospect will face Mexican Francisco “El Mono” Medal (12-12, 8 Ko) mu zisanu chonse bout.
Gonzalez, who hasn’t fought since December 1 1 (sensational third-round knockout of previously undefeated 13-0 Marlon Olea in Providence), was supposed to fight St. Patrick’s Day in Boston, but he was informed the day of the weigh in that his opponent hadn’t cleared medicals.
I’m always in the gym working hard because I like to stay busy and be ready,” Gonzalez anati. “No layoffs for me. I’ve been sparring 3-4 times a week to polish my craft. Ine nthawizonse anakonza. I was disappointed a few weeks ago, but I’m fighting on this card, and back on the right track.

And several other promising boxers will also be in action. Rivera faces Randy “The Rattler” Campbell, of Ohio, in the six-round co-featured event.
