The wildly popular Lopes (18-4-3, 1 KO), fighting out of Marshfield, MA, is a native of Poland. She hasn’t fought since last December due to injuries suffered in a car accident. Lopes will face

Missouri welterweight Ashleigh Curry (7-11-4, 1 KO) in the six-round main event.

 

 

 

Former N.E. welterweight Zakaran Derek “The Surgeon” Silveira (14-2, 7 Kos), fighting out of Salem, MA, takes on Mexican veteran Franciso “El Mono” Medel (12-15, 8 Kos) in the six-round co-featured event.

 

 

 

Iraq-War veteran Traietti (26-5, 21 Kos), of Quincy, MA, will not have his N.E. cruiserweight title on the line in a six-round bout versus upset-minded Ni “The Russian Concussion” Horowitz (6-3-2, 5 Kos), Chicago.

A karshe, Rivera closed the show in the seventh round, when Smith broke his hand in the fifth round and was unable to continue, kneeling in his corner, obviously in pain.

 

 

 

“I’ve always been tough,” Rivera said after the fight, “but I was a little rusty. He tested me early but, once he saw I wasn’t going anywhere and knew he was in for a fight. I started warming up in the fourth round. I was always a 12-round fighter. I didn’t know he broke his hand until after the fight. Ina jin mai girma. The 45-year-old Rivera (41-6-1, 24 Kos), who was matched against Ruben “Modern Day Warrior” Galvan, didn’t find out until yesterday (Talata) that Galvan had broken a finger the night before. Texas veteran Larry “Slomoshun” Smith (10-37-1, 7 Kos) is the late replacement for Rivera in the eight-round main event.

 

 

 

“I am not a fan of late changes,” Rivera said, “but at this point it’s either that or no fight, and I’ve trained too hard not to fight.”

 

 

 

Rivera last fought in 2011, taking an eight-round decision over Paul Mpendo, at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut.

 

 

 

The name of the event is “Makõma take” because five fighters in action are from Worcester, including three who’ve never fought there before as professionals.

 

 

 

Super middleweight Kendrick Ball, Jr. (9-1-2, 6 Kos) and junior middleweight Khiary Gray(15-4, 11 Kos), both promoted by CES Boxing, will be fighting at home in Worcester as pros for the first time in a pair of six-round bouts. Ball faces Mexican Fabian “El Lobo” Valdez (2-3) in the co-featured event, while Gray (15-4, 11 Kos) fuskõkinsu Antonio Chaves Fernandez (9-33, 4 Kos), of Brockton, MA, in a rematch of a fight won by Gray.

Worcester, Mass. (Yuli 31, 2018) – A dozen years after he captured his third world title in two different weight classes, seven since his last fight, “A Gallo” Jose Rivera returns to the ring August 17 zuwa kanun labarai “Makõma take”, presented by Granite Chin Promotions (GCP) in association with Rivera Promotions Entertainment (RPE), a The palladium a Worcester, Massachusetts.

 

 

 

The 45-year-old Rivera (41-6-1, 24 Kos) has already lost more than 30 fam, now within four pounds of his contracted weight, since he started training earlier this year. He will headline against Ruben “Modern Day Warrior” Galvan (27-26-4, 10 Kos) in the eight-round main event.

 

 

 

A 1997, Rivera captured the International Boxing Organization (Igbo) World welterweight title, tsayawa Gilberto Flores a zagaye na biyu. In front of nearly 10,000 hometown fans in Worcester, Rivera capped his boxing career by winning a 12-round unanimous decision in 2006 over defending champion Alejandro Garcia(25-1) for the WBA World super welterweight title.

 

 

 

“The idea to return to the ring started with my son. A.J., and I talking about chasing history,” Rivera ya bayyana. “We are not able to put that together right now (A.J. was born with Spina Bifida and he was unable to secure medical clearance in time for the Aug. 17ga watan show.), but because of my hard work these last six months, I felt that it was only fitting to continue with my fight.

 

 

 

“Granite Chin Promotions has been very instrumental to make sure that this show is put together in the most professional manner possible. I won’t think our promotional company (Jos and A.J. own and operate RPE Promotions Entertainment) would have been able to pull this off. All the negotiations had to be done and me training the only way I know how, at a championship level, would have been too much for us to handle.”

 

 

 

Granite Chin Promotions’ co-promoter Chuck Shearns kara da cewa, “When Jose and I started talking about his ring return, I was the last person to think he was crazy. We were friends during his championship days and I know how incredibly committed and disciplined Jose is. During Rivera’s title reigns, unlike other world champions, he also held a full-time job as a court officer in the Massachusetts Trial Court, a position in Worcester that he still holds 17 years later. Between working and training, never mind his family responsibilities, Jose somehow manages to balance everything in his extremely busy life.

 

 

 

“Let’s just say it makes for a busy schedule,” Rivera remarked. “I am committed to taking care of my family and will do whatever it takes. I usually run before work and train after work. Starting early and finishing late makes for busy days, but the job needs to get done. A yanzu, I’m in the middle of the hardest period of training. The week of the fight is more about preparing mentally and making weight. There’s nothing you can do the week of the fight to help you get into better shape.”

 

 

 

Rivera isn’t under any illusions that his comeback will lead to another major world title. The plan is for him to have two more fights to reach a total of 50 a matsayin pro, but he’s taking things one fight at a time, and he still hopes his next fight, tentatively slated for later this year, will be on the same card as his son’s pro debut.

 

 

 

Rivera last fought in 2011, taking an eight-round decision over Paul Mpendo, at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. The battle-tested Galvan, his Aug. 17ga watan opponent from Indiana, has fought other world champions, Including Zab Yahuza, Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr., Jorge Paez da kuma Paul Spadafora.

 

 

 

“I hear he comes to fight and that he likes to fool around a bit to try and get into his opponent’s head,” Rivera added. I’ve concentrated on me, my timing and focus on the game plan

 

 

 

“Training for this fight has been more mental than anything else. I have been able to reach peak performance at 45 training like I did in my prime. The most important thing is that, working with my trainer Sean Fitzgerald, I’ve been focused on making sure my timing gets better since it’s been seven years since I last fought.

QUINCY, Mass. (Afrilu 2, 2018) — This Saturday night’s “Fight Night at The Zone”, presented by Granite Chin Promotions, has been strengthened by the late addition of hot prospect Irvin Gonzalez to a card already showcasing some of the best young, professional boxers in New England.

 

 

 

Granite Chin Promotions is on a mission to establish a fan-base in the Granite State, providing a fan friendly, full entertainment experience at The Sports Zone in Derry, New Hampshire.

QUINCY, Mass. (Fabrairu 28, 2018) — Many of New England’s best and brightest professional boxers will be in action Asabar dare, Afrilu 7, as Granite Chin Promotions returns to the Granite State, presenting “Fight Night at the Zone,” at The Sports Zone in Derry, New Hampshire.

HAMPTON, N.H. (Disamba 9, 2017) — Colorful light heavyweight prospect Richard “Popeye The Sailor Man” Rivera zauna undefeated (5-0, 4 Kos), tsohon soja Roberto “Tsohon” Valenzuela, last night (Sat.) a cikin “Rumble at The RIM” main taron, presented by Granite Chin Promotions, at The RIM Sports Complex in Hampton, New Hampshire.
Rivera, fighting out of Hartford (CT), controlled the action from the opening bell against his battle-tested opponent from Mexico, who had a tremendous experience advantage in his 147ga watan pro fight, compared to Rivera’s fifth.
Valenzuela spent most of the time on the ropes, while Rivera teed-off on him, until a beautiful placed left hook by Rivera decked Valenzuela, who failed to get up until after referee Mike Ryan completed the 10-count.
A busload of Rivera’s fans drove five hours from Hartford through a snowstorm, arriving just before Rivera entered the ring. “That means a lot to me,” Rivera smiled as he spoke about his fans. “We’re more than a gym, mu yi iyali.
“I was so used to an amateur style but now I’m a pro. I’m relaxing and picking my punches. Gaba, I want to win the New England title. It’s vacant and I want it!”
“This was our first show in New Hampshire and I consider it a success,” co-promoter Chuck Shearns ya ce, “despite some things going against us like tonight’s weather. We’re grateful for the support we received from Hampton, New Hampshire, the commission and local businesses. They worked with us and we can’t wait to return.”
The son and nephew of multiple-time world kickboxing champions – father Tommy and uncle – worked his corner — Peabody, MA Russell Kimber had a promising pro debut against tough Nathan Schulte in a match contested at a 185-pound catchweight. The 32-year-old Kimber, who was the crowd favorite having lived several years in New Hampshire, overcame the determined Schulte for a hard-fought victory by way of a four-round majority decision.
“I was a little nervous with this being my first time in a pro ring,” Kimber admitted after his fight. “I hadn’t been in a ring for 1 ½ years and there was some ring rust. Yanzu, I know what I need to good, and I’ll be a lot better next fight. This was my first camp and I’ve learned a lot. I’d like to stay busy, come back in late January, early February.”
Undefeated Whitman, MA junior welterweight prospect Mike “Bad Man” Ohan, Jr.charged across the ring, unloading a powerful right that immediately sent Bardraiel Smith to the canvas. Smith somehow got to his feet but Ohan quickly ended Smith’s night, only 30-second into round one, as referee Ryan waved off the action.
New England cruiserweight champion and the show’s co-promoter, Iraq War veteran Chris Traietti (25-5, 19 Kos) outclassed Fabian Valdez en route to a win by second-round knockout in a stay-busy fight to close out 2017. In a non-title fight contested at a 185-pounds catchweight, the Quincy, MA-based Traietti floored his game Mexican opponent with a straight right midway through the opening round, closing the show in the second round with a series of unanswered punches.
The only New Hampshire native on the card, Claremont junior middleweight Ricky Ford(1-1-1) won his first pro fight, taking a lop-sided, four-round unanimous decision over pro MMA fighter Andy Aiello, who made his pro boxing debut.
In another stay-busy fight, former world-rated Ryan “A Yaren mutanen Poland Prince” Kielczweski(27-3, 9 Kos), fighting out of Quincy (MA), needed only 51-seconds to finish off Mexican lightweight Francisco “El Mono” Medal. Kielczweski hit Medal with a with a lethal left to the body, leaving Medal in obvious pain and unable to rise before the 10-count.
New Jersey middleweight Chris “Sandman” Thomas (7-0-1, 4 Kos) kept his unbeaten pro record intact with a second-round stoppage of Demetrius Thomas. Thomas used a rapid-fire combination to drop Thomas, who beat the count, but he was getting hammered when referee Ryan stopped the fight late in the second round.

HAMPTON, NH (Nuwamba 13, 2017) – Granite Chin Promotions invades the Granite State on Asabar, Disamba 9, showcasing some of New England’s top professional boxers on the “Rumble at The Rim” katin, at The Rim in Hampton, New Hampshire.
