The Douglas loss has prepared me for this. Being a headline fighter on television. We will be seen by more people being on CBS Sports Network. I am five fights more mature since my loss. I have been fighting solid competition and I have been more active.

What in those five fights has helped you prepare for this fight?
None of those guys are comparable to Dusty, but I fought guys with different styles and went some rounds with them when people may have questioned my stamina. I fought a rugged guy in Ayi Bruce and a crafty southpaw in Ariel Vasquez. Those guys aren’t killers, but I was getting work in.

What things have you fixed since the loss to Douglas? Did you feel you were overmatched in the fight?

It opened my eyes and it showed me that I needed to fix stuff. My diet and daily living. I was overmatched in maybe size, but I really felt going into that fight that I would beat him.
What are you doing different?
My diet and other things I do when I am not training. I was a middleweight because I was too lazy to drop down in weight. I have made a lot of adjustments.

You started out at middleweight, but you have eased your way down to welterweight. How difficult has that been and what type of advantage does this play into the Septiembre 15lucha?

I was always a big middleweight, but strength-wise I wasn’t. Now at welterweight, I am more explosive, Más rápido, more experienced and now I can dictate the action. The fight was originally scheduled for Atlantic City, where you would have been involved in the promotional aspects of the show. That would have entailed doing a lot of work behind the scenes, which would have taken some time away from training. Are you relieved that the fight is in Philadelphia?
I am thankful for that. I know I would have had to get involved in the promotional aspect and some of the stuff leading up to the fight. To me it doesn’t matter where the fight is. Philadelphia is a neutral ground. As long as there is a ring, it doesn’t matter where it takes place

Why this fight right now?

Es la hora. He has fought one tough guy and if you saw the fight, he lost it (officially a draw with Mike Dallas). I have no doubt in my mind that I will win the fight and maybe even stop him. But it is a great opportunity to get showcased on national television for the USBA title.

Filadelfia, Pensilvania – Welter Thomas LaManna y Dusty Hernández-Harrison will square off in a scheduled 10-round bout for the vacant USBA Welterweight title on Jueves, Siete. 15, in a highly anticipated showdown at the 2300 Arena. The card is promoted by Final Forum Boxing, Peltz Boxing Promotions & GH3 Promotions and will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network.
“This is the kind of fight boxing needs at this juncture,” said Hall-of-Fame promoter and matchmaker J Russell Peltz. “We have two young prospects at the same level meeting in a logical location–New Jersey against Washington, D.C. en Filadelfia. Boxing needs more fights like this in this kind of setting. This is the best fight for each of these fighters at this point of their careers.”

‘Bravo’ Brant Stops Fitzpatrick in Three, Continues March to Middleweight Title Shot
Current WBO NABO and WBA NABA Middleweight Champion and WBA #4- and WBO #7-rated middleweight Rob “Bien Hecho” Brant (21-0, 14 KOs) de San Pablo, Minnesota, kept his momentum plowing forward and continued to impress tonight with a one-sided beatdown of Chris “El fantasma irlandés” Fitzpatrick (15-5, 6 KOs) de Cleveland.
Fighting in the 10-round main event of CBS Sports Network Championship Boxing from the Grand Ballroom of the Pechanga Resort & Casino en Temecula, California, Brant had too many weapons for the game Fitzpatrick.

25-year-old Brant has already won two fights this year. En abril, he took care of Arkansas veteran Delray Raines in less than a round and in January, he scored a nationally televised “Knockout del Año” candidate against formidable contender DeCarlo Perez. The victory put Brant on the radar of the boxing world.
29-year-old Fitzpatrick went undefeated in his first 15 fights and only suffered setbacks against some of the world’s top middleweights, including world champion Daniel Jacobs. “El fantasma irlandés” is never in a bad fight and will test any would-be contender’s true mettle.

Brock, fighting out of New Orleans, learned to box in Louisiana State Penitentiary, where he served nearly 15 año, sentenced as an adult at 15 for armed robbery. The determined lightweight controlled the pace and consistently beat hometown favorite Gutierrez to the punch all night. Gutiérrez, a tough Mexican who lives in Las Vegas, showed the heart of a champion, albeit in a losing effort to a fresher Brock.

“I think I put on a great performance,” Brock commented after the fight. “I came out to give my best effort. We trained to fight inside to fight Chuy, not box, to make him uncomfortable in a fight he’s not used to. I won this fight on the inside. No backing up for 10 rounds. We prepared that way because we knew Chuy was going to come in throwing shots. But he’d never fought anybody of my caliber. I was looking to finish him but I didn’t want to get careless.”

Garza, who was deducted a point for throwing a low blow in the fifth round, won a unanimous 6-round decision in a firefight.

Nichols won his third fight in the last three months, “I can go next week,” Nichols said after the fight. “He was tall fighter who was undefeated. He didn’t come here to lose. I take my hat off to him because I hit him with some great shots. He is a tough guy with a big heart. I had to do the Ali Shuffle in the first round because he was my favorite fighter.”

CANCUN, México / LAS VEGAS (Junio 2, 2016) — Famed promoter Pepe Gómez has partnered with Neon Star Media to bring its monthly “Cancún Boxing” series to CBS Sports Network.
The first event, “Knockout’s On Fire,” tendrá lugar este sábado noche (Junio 4) from Grand Oasis Cancun the Hotel Complex in Cancun, México. Cancun`s ONLY Ultimate All-Inclusive Entertainment Resort will play host to all events in the series.
“Cancún Boxing” is presented by Pepe Gomez Boxing.

The first event will feature Mexico’s 3-time world super flyweight champion Cristian “El Diamante” Mijares (53-8-2, 26 KOs) who takes on his fellow countryman, invicto Andres “Jaguarito” Gutiérrez, in the 12-round main event for the vacant World Boxing Council (CMB) Silver Featherweight Championship.
