Live Fuq Showtime®

NEW YORK (Diċembru. 28, 2015) - ShoBox: Il-Ġenerazzjoni Ġdida begins its 15th year on SHOWTIME® with an explosive quadrupleheader on Il-ġimgħa, Jan. 22, 2016 live from Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Ariz. (10:35 p.m. U/PT, ittardjat fuq il-Kosta tal-Punent).

Fil-avveniment ewlieni tal-lejla, middleweight undefeated Rob "Bravo" Brant (18-0, 11 Kos, 0-3 in World Series tal Boxing) ta 'San. Paul, Minn., measures against Atlantic City’s Decarlo Perez (15-3-1, 5 Kos) fi matchup 10-tond.

In co-featured bouts, unbeaten Harmonito “Hammer” Dela Torre (17-0, 12 Kos), of Las Vegas by way of Philippines, makes his United States debut against Rafael Guzman (16-1-1, 10 Kos), of Ensenada, Mexico in an eight-round super featherweight bout and undefeated heavyweight Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller (15-0-1, 13 Kos) ta Brooklyn, N.Y.. faces southpaw Donovan Dennis (14-3, 11 Kos, 2-1 in WSB) tal Cleveland, Ohio in an eight-round scrap.

Ftuħ tal- ShoBox telecast, hard-laqtu Bakhtiyar Eyubov (9-0, 9 Kos), ta Brooklyn, N.Y.. by way of Kazakhstan, jissodisfa Jared Robinson(16-2-1, 7 Kos), of Sumter, S.C. in an eight-round super lightweight tiff.

The event is promoted by Greg Cohen Promotions.

Boxing historian and expert ring analyst Steve Farhood has called every fight on ShoBox since it premiered in 2001. He anticipates another year of excellent, competitive matchups in 2016.

“In 2015, we had eight fighters who appeared on ShoBox u marru fuq biex tirbaħ titoli dinja. That means the average number of shows in which you’ll see a future world champion is one out of four,"Qal Farhood.

“We saw some fantastic prospects last year, Inklużi ERICKSON Lubin u Regis Prograis and fresh faces like Jarrett Hurd, Rob Brant—and a fighter who almost seems ready to fight for a title now—SergeyDerevyanchenko. Given Shobox’s 15-year history, I’m fully expecting that we will have more of the same in 2016.’’

Brant, Perez and Miller will be making their second consecutive appearances on ShoBox. Brant and Miller were victorious last Ottubru. 23, Perez last Awissu. 28. Robinson will also be making his second ShoBox start; the four other boxers will be making their debuts.

“Both Brant and Perez won their most recent appearances on ShoBoxand both were impressive,"" Farhood qal. “Brant took a big step up and outpointed Louis Rose in October and Perez pulled off the upset over the previously unbeaten Juan Ubaldo Cabrera f'Awissu. So it makes all the sense in the world to match them against each other. On Jan. 22, we’re going to find out just how hot Rob Brant is.’’

Twenty-six-year-old Brant will be headlining his second consecutiveShoBox. In his first, he captured a hard-fought 10-round majority decision over Rose. Going 10 rawnds għall-ewwel darba, Brant triumphed in an entertaining tight fight.

Qabel ma ddawwar pro f'Novembru 2010, Brant was a 2010 National Champion Golden Ingwanti fi 178 liri u membru tal-U.S. national boxing team pro. He currently trains in Dallas alongside top prospect Errol Spence Jr.

“I’m really excited about this fight and I’ve been training hard for several weeks now,’’ Brant said. “I’ve got a very serious opponent in front of me. He rates about a 7.7 at everything, which doesn’t leave a whole lot of weaknesses. I’ve got to go back to pure boxing for this one. I have to be better in every department. It’s my second time headlining ShoBox and I plan on improving from the first time, so viewers can chart my progress. This is my time to show my growth.’’

Perez, who hails from a fighting family, has won four straight and nine of his last 10. He scored a surprising, upset, a 10-round unanimous decision over Cabrera (23-0 sejrin fid) in his last outing. Perez, li ħadu l-ġlieda fuq avviż ta 'ġimgħa, outpointed the two-time Dominican Republic Olympian by the scores of 98-91 darbtejn u 97-92.

“I’m so excited I’m the main event on national television,’’ Perez said. “I don’t know a lot about my opponent but I’m well prepared, both mentally and physically. I plan on giving the fans an exciting night.

“Camp is going very well. My management team has brought in top sparring with all undefeated boxers, one being Julian Williams. I’m excited that my trainer is allowing me to fight the majority, if not all of this fight, in the southpaw stance. I’m really a southpaw, but I have fought right-handed most of my career.”

Perez’ last loss came on a split eight-round decision to world title challenger Wilky Campfort f'Jannar 2014. Barra l-ring, Perez is a pharmacy technician at an Atlantic City hospital.

Taħħan, a former New York Golden Gloves finalist who turned pro in July 2009, is a confident, power-punching heavyweight who comes to knock you out. He won his ShoBox debut, waqfien Akhror Muralimov with a devastating right hand to the chin at 1:03 fit-tielet rawnd.

“I feel like I should have been here two years ago,’’ Miller said. “I’m not coming to make friends. I’m here to annihilate and destroy the whole heavyweight division. On Jan. 22, I’m going to put Donovan Dennis to sleep. I’m not being heard right now, so I have to make myself known. After this fight and what I do to Dennis, things will really, really start to pick up. I’m ready to destroy.’’

Besides being a hard hitter, Miller has good overall skills and movement for a big man whose weight fluctuates from fight to fight. He’s won his last four by knockout, all inside three rounds.

Known for an aggressive style, Miller is now fully focused on a fistic career, but he hails from an MMA and kickboxing background. Għal ftit snin, huwa ikkompetew fil K-1, storikament premier organizzazzjoni Kickboxing tad-dinja, u darbtejn miġġielda l leġġendarju Mirko “CRO Čop” Filipović.

“There seems to be a new energy and enthusiasm on the American heavyweight scene,"" Farhood qal. “Part of that is explained by the fall of a dominant champion in Wladimir Klitschko and part of it is explained by the emergence of Deontay Wilder, and even Travis Kauffman. So for a young heavyweight like Jarrell Miller, the time seems to be ideal to secure TV exposure and make a name for himself.’’

Dennis, 28, was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa. Before turning pro in June 2010, he was a top-level amateur: 11-time Iowa State Champion, 2011 National Golden Gloves runner-up in and 2012 Il. S. Olympic Games Trials contestant.
The 6-foot-4 Dennis possesses good skills, movement and punching power to go with his strong amateur background. His weakness is durability; he’s been knocked out in all of his losses.

“I’m ready to fight,’’ Dennis said. “I’ve been training really hard and I am looking forward to the fight. I just want to get this win and move on as I will have a big year in 2016.’’

Dela Torre, considered one of the top young talents in the Philippines, will be fighting outside of Asia for the first time. A big puncher and winner of seven straight by knockout, il-5-marda ta '8, 21-year-old is coming off athird-round TKO over Ricard Betos aħħar Novembru. 14.

“It’s every boxer’s dream to fight on big cards in United States. This is the next step in my pathway to becoming world champion,’’ Dela Torre said. “I can’t wait. This is an opportunity I will take advantage of and show everyone I’m ready to step up. I let my team concentrate on my opponents and pass me instructions. I just know I’ll be ready and able to stop any opponent.’’

Before turning professional at 17, Dela Torre was a top member on the Philippine National Amateur Boxing Team. As a pro, he has made a “name” for himself after an impressive victory over Jason Butar-Butar on the undercard of a Manny Pacquiao-headlined fight in November 2013.

Guzman, a 5-foot-8½-inch 20-year-old, will be making his U.S. debut and initial start outside of Mexico since turning pro at 16 f'Lulju 2011. In Dela Torre, Guzman will be taking a significant step up in class. Huwa skorja TKO round tielet fuq Pedro Lopez on his last start in Ottubru. 9.

“I’m feeling very strong and ready for the challenge of this fight,’’ Guzman said. “Fighting on SHOWTIME is a huge opportunity for me. I hear my opponent is a good fighter, but I am ready for anything he can throw. Everybody is going to be talking about me after this fight.”

Yeyubov, 29, who could be on the fast track to stardom, is regarded by many to be the second-hardest Kazakh hitter in boxing, ranked only behind Gennady Golovkin. Since his days as an amateur when he won more than 150 tissielet, a vast majority by knockout, Eyubov has lived up to his reputation as a fearsome banger who looks to remove the judges from the equation.

He’s overwhelmed his first nine opponents as a pro, winning six by knockout in the first round and two by knockout in the second. The furthest he’s gone in a fight came in his second start when he scored a third-round TKO (2:57) fuq Jhaquis Davis. In his last outing on Ottubru. 29, hu skorja 1:27, TKO-ewwel round fuq Antonio Chaves Fernandes fi Brooklyn.

Robinson, a pro since August 2009, fights out of Charlotte, N.C. A veteran of several scheduled 10-round fights, he’s undeniably the most experienced boxer Eyubov’s ever faced. A natural 140-pounder,Robinson won his initial 14 starts before losing on a fourth-round TKO to then-unbeaten Amir I fuq ShoBox in a bout he took on short notice on Feb. 21, 2014.

Żewġ jibda ilu, Robinson fought to a disputed eight-round split draw against then-unbeaten Haskell Rhodes (23-0 sejrin fid) dwar Ġunju 21, 2015. An excellent boxer with good skills and movement, the 5-foot-9-inch Robinson, 33, is coming off a one-sided 10-round decision overChristian Dominguez aħħar Seba. 26. Barra l-ring, Robinson is amassage therapist.

Barry Tompkins se sejħa tal- ShoBox azzjoni minn ringside ma Farhood u eks champion tad-dinja Raul Marquez jservu bħala analisti esperti. Il-produttur eżekuttiv huwa Gordon Hall ma Richard Gaughanproduzzjoni u Rick Phillips direzzjoni.

VERONA, NEW YORK (Diċembru 19, 2015) – Il 2015 boxing year culminated with a tremendous show at Turning Stone Resort Casino as WBA Interim Heavyweight Champion Luis “Ir-Re Kong Real” Ortiz (24-0, 21 Kos) closed the show by maintaining his title with a knockout-of-the-year candidate over Bryant “Billi – Billi” Jennings (19-2, 10 Kos) in the seventh round of their scheduled bout live on HBO Boxing After Dark.
“Illum, there is a new era in the heavyweight division,” Ortiz, who landed a vicious uppercut to end the fight, qal. “Jennings is fighter who deserves much respect, but he can tell you that I am a force in the heavyweight division. I am going to go out and obtain my objective. “I have been training for a big fight of this magnitude for three years. My strategy was to keep him at a distance and I was able to do that effectively with my reach and my jab. I will fight whoever next, whoever Golden Boy Promotions gives me I will take. Wilder, Fury, Klitschko anyone of them, I am ready to prove that I am the heavyweight world champion. A lot of people say a lot of things about me, but the testing showed that I am a clean fighter.
I wasn’t on my game, and he got the best of me,” Jennings said. “I didn’t adjust well and he was the better man.
The co-main event saw two Super Featherweightsformer WBA Featherweight and Super Featherweight World Champion Nicolas “Axe Man” Walters (26-0-1, 21 Kos) and Jason Sosa (18-1-4, 14 Kos) — wage a superb battle with both fighters landing tremendous sharp, accurate shots throughout the fight. While Sosa won the fight on one of the judge’s cards, the fight was ruled a draw as the two other judges had the fight even.
I am in total shock. I was never in any danger, never hurt,” Walters said. “[Sosa] huwa ġellied tajba — the kind of fight I wantedbut I thought I won all the rounds. So surprised this happened to me.
I thought I won and am disappointed it was a draw,” Sosa said. “I ħadmu iebes, I really thought I won the fight.
In the HBO Latino Boxing main event light heavyweight Vyacheslav “Qalb Lion – Chigonsky” Shabranskyy (15-0, 12 Kos) kept his undefeated record intact slugging out a majority decision over Yuneski Gonzalez (16-2, 12 Kos) in an action-packed brawl that saw both fighters land huge shots throughout the fight.
This fight was the most important and most exciting fight of my career,” said Shabranskyy. I did feel a lot of Gonzalezpunches but I also feel like I hurt himespecially in the last round, he was beginning to sway. If I had a little more time I feel I would have knocked him out.
I knew that this was going to be a war and that is what we delivered tonight,” Gonzalez qal. “We both gave it our all and didn’t let up. I knew that I needed to knock him out to win this fight but he was more resilient than I thought and didn’t open up enough for the knockout to happened. I did know the fight was very close and should have been a draw in my opinion. I would like the opportunity to fight him again and prove that I am the better fighter.
In the co-main of the HBO Latino broadcast, rising middleweight “King” Gabriel ROSADO (22-9, 13 Kos) shook off some tough early rounds to earn a hard-fought unanimous victory against former IBF Welterweight World Champion Joshua “Gran Mastru” Clottey (39-6, 22 Kos).
It has been more than a year since I have been in the ring so I did feel a little I the rust but I feel like this fight really helped me shake it off,” Rosado said. Clottey is a tough opponent, eks champion tad-dinja, definitely a challenge for me in my first fight back. I delivered an entertaining fight tonight and I was happy with my performance. I am ready for my next big challenge, I would like a shot at Canelo [Alvarez] next.
Gabriel gave everyone a great performance today,” said Fernando Vargas, Rosado’s trainer. This was our first training camp together and I think we are going to keep growing and make great fights together.
This was an off night for me,” Clottey said. “I do think that the fans enjoyed the fightwe are both fighters that do not like to back down. Madankollu, I don’t feel comfortable at this weight class, I want to go back down to 154 and continue to fight at junior middleweight.
Opening the HBO Latino broadcast, former WBA and IBF Featherweight World Champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (25-1, 17 Kos) had all he could handle after a 13-month layoff, squaring off in a lightweight showdown against Hylon Williams Jr. (16-2-1, 3 Kos) ta 'Houston. Wara 10 rounds of back-and-forth action, the judges awarded Gamboa a hard-fought unanimous decision.
It feels good to be back in the ring,” Gamboa said. “I trained in Cuba, and I feel that all the hard paid off. I was faster and stronger in the ring. I know I dominated the action tonight, I made sure he knew I was in control from the first round.
I felt good about the pace of the fight, I know I hurt him a few times,” Williams qal. “This fight should have gone my way.
In a light heavyweight battle, rising prospect D’MitriusBig MeechBallard (11-0, 7 Kos) won a shutout unanimous decision against a game Fabiano “Pit Bull” Rix (11-4-1, 8 Kos).
I am glad I secured the victory today,” Ballard said. “[Rix] was able to go all six rounds with me, but I felt in complete control the entire fight. I think I am ready to step up to more rounds and bigger opponents. I am ready for the next big step of my career and this fight showed that. I want to thank Oscar and Golden Boy Promotions for the opportunity and I can’t wait for the next fight.
Fil-bout ftuħ tal-lejla, middleweight Steven “Il Hitman” Martinez (16-2, 13 Kos) emerged with a second round TKO victory over Jorge “Destroyer” Meléndez (28-6-1, 26 Kos). Martinez got off numerous combinations in round one and followed it up in round two with a sizzling left hook that floored Menendez. While Mendendez beat the count, Martinez quickly moved in, forcing the referee to wave off the fight at1:33 tat-tieni rawnd.

BILLY JOE SAUNDERS DETHRONES ANDY LEE SATURDAY TO BECOME 12th CURRENT BRITISH WORLD CHAMPION ON SHO EXTREME® FROM MANCHESTER,ENGLAND

NEW YORK (Diċembru. 19, 2015) – Billy Joe Saunders dethroned WBO Middleweight World Champion Andy Lee with a 12-round majority decision Saturday on SHOWTIME BOXING INTERNATIONAL minn Manchester, England.

Il-ġlieda, li ġie skurjat 115-111, 114-112 u 113-113, will re-air tonight at 9 p.m. U/PT fuq SHO ESTREM.

In a matchup of tactical southpaws, an explosive third round from Saunders (23-0, 12 Kos) was the difference. The British challenger floored Lee twice – first with a big right hook and again with a counter right just 30 seconds later – and a dazed Lee somehow survived the 10-7 round. The Irish Lee (34-3-1, 24 Kos) fought his way back and was the more aggressive fighter in the championship rounds, but it wasn’t enough to make up for a slow start and the two knockdowns.

Bl-rebħa, Saunders became the 12th current British world champion.

“I’m world champion,” Saunders said. “I beat a good champion today, a good sturdy champion. I used his power against him. When I was boxing he got a little bit careless and dropped his lead hand and I caught him with the hook.

“I’m not going to start running my mouth, but it was a good shot. With someone as fast as me you have to keep your hands up. I’m not the biggest puncher in the world, but I showed you there that I can punch.”

WBA Middleweight Dinja Champion Daniel Jacobs, fresh off a first round knockout of Peter Quillin two weeks ago on SHOWTIME, was a guest analyst nhar is-Sibt from New York.

“I thought he was going to be a big brawler, I thought he had better assets,” Jacobs said of Lee. “He didn’t do enough for me. He was too complacent and after the knockdown you didn’t see that sense of urgency that a fighter has to have on the comeback trail.

“All credit due to Billy Joe, but it wasn’t an impressive victory.”

After watching the fight, Jacobs wasn’t ready to commit to a unification showdown in 2016 with the winner.

“We’ll do whatever makes sense,” Jacobs said. “I think it’s time to sit-down and figure what makes sense. Obviously it’s a good time to be a middleweight champion.”
