RIVERSIDE, SOOS. – July 1, 2025 -Hard-hitting Mexican contenderAngel “Tashiro” Fierrosent a direct message to his compatriot and rivalIsaac "Pitbull" Cruzduring a tense face-to-face at the Los Angeles press conference in June to announce their rematch, and has continued to express his ire toward Cruz as we near their showdown on Saturday, Julie 19 as part of a PBC Pay-Per-View event on Prime Video from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

“When I say something to him, like I did at that press conference, I follow through,” said Fierro. “I promised I would show him that I’m elite and this fight will be more of the same. I have no respect for ‘Pitbull’ Cruz. He doesn’t intimidate me and he’s an ordinary fighter. He’s a human and he gets tired too. I stayed true to myself when I told him I’m coming for war.”

The biggest change for Fierro since the first showdown is the addition of famed trainer Robert Garcia, who has led his training camp and will do the same for his corner on July 19. By joining forces with Garcia, Fierro believes he’s unlocked a better version of himself that he’ll display in the rematch.

“It’s been a tough camp,” said Fierro. “I’ve never trained with this much intensity before. Robert Garcia and the whole team has been excellent. We’ve made changes to my sparring sessions and I believe we’re going to deliver a great result.

“I’ve gone through changes physically, mentally and nutritionally. It’s going to make me formidable. I’m in the best shape of my life and my diet is on point. I’m not worried about making weight and that’s how an elite fighter should come into a fight.”

The Tijuana-native’s first fight against Cruz was a tale of two halves, as Cruz controlled the early rounds before Fierro appeared to turn the tide, out landing his opponent 132 te 106 across the final five frames. While he believes he’ll be even better on July 19, Fierro is confident that he proved his elite status in the first fight, even if Cruz doesn’t.

“I’ve worked on myself and correcting the mistakes I made in the first fight that would have changed the outcome,” said Fierro. “Robert Garcia is very experienced and I watched the fight with him to work on what I need to do to win this time.

“I didn’t keep my hands up 100% of the time like I needed to. That was the main mistake at the time. ‘Pitbull’ underestimated me – and still does- but I already showed him that I’m not middling fighter. I proved I’m elite and now I’m working twice as hard.”

In addition to showing Cruz his level, Fierro believes that he took advantage of the big stage in February on the undercard of David Benavidez vs. David Morrell Jr. to show the Mexican people that he was a true contender. With that extra motivation, he’s promised to show that he will be the next big star to take off from the boxing-rich country.

“At the beginning of the fight, people looked at me like I was a nobody,” said Fierro. “But by the halfway point, I felt a shift, and people were already seeing me as a big-time fighter. I felt like Rocky in Russia! I proved that I’m not just a talker. I’m a true Mexican…We’re two Mexicans with pride on the line and looking to show who the next great Mexican boxing star will be. I’m fighting to bring honor to my country.”

Having already delivered a fight that’s garnering early Fight of the Year consideration, Fierro has promised to deliver even more action the second time around, and perhaps bring back memories of Fierro’s personal favorite all-Mexican rematch Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Erik Morales II.

“You’re going to see a different ‘Tashiro’ and it’s going to be an even better war than the first one,” said Fierro. “The fans will be on their feet from the very first round. I will beat ‘Pitbull’ – no matter what. He better prepare well and I think he will, because deep down he knows what he’s up against.”

LOS ANGELES (Junie 16, 2025) - Often avoided Russian super middleweight Petr “The Surgeon” Khamukov (13-0, 6 Uitklophoue) will headline “LA Friday Night Fights”, presented by Paco Presents and Golden Boy Promotions, against David “Dynamite” Stevens (14-2, 10 Uitklophoue) this week in Long Beach, Kalifornië.


Khamukov faces Stevens, who was a standout amateur boxer out of Pennsylvania, in die 10-ronde hoofren. “LA Friday Night Fights” will be streamed live this Friday on DAZN from Thunder Studios.


A promotional free agent who now resides in Woodland Hills (SOOS), Khamukov had 350 amateur matches, represented Russia in the 2016 Olimpiese Spele, and he was the only Russian to qualify for the same Olympics in two weights classes (middleweight and light heavyweight). He captured gold medals at the 2015 European Championships and 2016 Russian National Championships.

In his most recent fight last November in Las Vegas, the 24-year-old Stevens lost a 12-round split decision to Bektemir Melikuziev (14-1, 10 Uitklophoue). Stevens’ most impressive performance to date was an 8-round stoppage of then 14-0 Sean Hemphill in 2023.

Four Team USA Boxers Close Friday With Bronze Medals

USTI NAD LABEM, Tsjeggiese Republiek (Junie 13, 2025) -Team USA tied a bow on day three of the World Boxing Challenge Grand Prix Usti Nad Labem 2025 with four boxers earning bronze medals and four more athletes advancing to the gold medal rounds. Yoseline Perez (vroue 54 kg), Alyssa Mendoza (vroue 57 kg), Malachi Georges (mans 90 kg) and Kelvin Watts (mans 90+ kg) stamped won on Friday. Looking ahead to Saturday’s finals action, Team USA will see five boxers contesting for gold medals at the World Boxing Challenge.

Rene Camacho (mans 65 kg), Robby Gonzales (mans 80 kg), Jajaira Gonzalez (vroue 60 kg) and Morelle McCane (vroue 65 kg) concluded their respective weeks with bronze medals on Friday. McCane’s latest bronze marks her second internationally this year, following her outing at the World Boxing Cup: Brasilië 2025. Camacho finished his impressive week with his first Elite international medal after two wins in three appearances. Gonzalez secured her medal in her first international competition of 2025, while Gonzales finished the week with a 1-1 record for his first podium placement of the year.

Mendoza nabbed a 4-1 statement victory over Brazil’s Jucielen Romeo, avenging her loss to the Brazilian at the Paris 2024 Olimpiese Spele. In addition to her latest victory, the Caldwell, Idaho, native also defeated Hungary’s Vladislava Kukhta on Thursday. Following Saturday’s performance, Mendoza has guaranteed herself at least a silver medal. She will now take on Mongolia’s Michidmaa Erdenedalai on Saturday in bout four.

"Ek voel goed,” Mendoza stated. “It was definitely a really tough bout, someone that I’ve shared the ring with before [wat] always a tough competitor but we were able to pull off the victory today. I’m feeling good and we’re going into the silver and gold match tomorrow.”

Perez advances to the gold medal match in the women’s 54-kg division after garnering her second 5-0 decision of the week, this time against Hungary’s Hanna Lakotar. USTI NAD LABEM, Tsjeggiese Republiek (Junie 11, 2025) - Jajaira Gonzalez (Vroue 60 kg) and Rene Camacho (Mans 65 kg) each captured 3-2 wins in their tournament debuts Wednesday at the World Boxing Challenge Grand Prix Usti Nad Labem 2025.

The pair were the lone Team USA athletes in competition on day one of the tournament, and following their victories, they now advance to the quarterfinal rounds of their respective brackets.

Gonzalez (Glendora, Kalifornië.) closed out her 2025 international debut in style with a 3-2 victory over Croatia’s Sara Beram. Following the victory, Gonzalez will take on Italy’s Rebecca Nicoli in the quarterfinals of the women’s 60kg division. A second win at the tournament for the Glendora, Kalifornië., native will guarantee her a medal at the event; egter, she remains persistent in capturing the gold medal in her 2025 international debut tournament.

“First time fighting international since the Games,” said Gonzalez after her victory. “I felt a little rusty, but of course, it’s the first day. Back at it again tomorrow, and it’s going to be better tomorrow.”

Camacho (Houston, Texas) entered the ring with confidence for his Team USA international debut. After listening to the opening bell and stepping out to throw the first punch of the bout, Camacho closed the door on any questions about whether or not he was ready for the international stage. Camacho shined under the lights and ultimately secured a 3-2 win over Hungary’s Milan Petriman.

“Feeling good, feeling good. I got the dub,” said Camacho of his win over Hungary on the opening day of the tournament. “We’re taking it all the way to the gold. We’re not going for anything less. Win, oorwinning, win and win again!"

Thursday’s competition will feature nine boxers from the United States, beginning with Orlando Zamora (Turlock, Kalifornië. | 55kg) in Ring B, bout five, against Brazil’s Michael Douglas Trindade, a Paris 2024 Olimpiese.

Pryce is Right again for undefeated Brooklyn heavyweight Pryce Taylor

“I was excited to be fighting on a show like that,” Taylor added. “He hit me first in the first round, something I always let my opponents do to test their power, gauge patterns, and figure him out. It’s like in baseball when a batter lets a pitch go by without swinging to see what he has on the mound. Because he’s a southpaw, his right is his jab, and he really wanted to use his left power hook. He had a good poker face, but he couldn’t hide it when I hurt him. He tried not showing he was fazed, keeping himself upright, but he felt my power. I like being accurate, especially throwing power punches. I punished him at the end, throwing a body shot, an uppercut, and then two right hooks.”

“I thought George Foreman would have been proud of me and maybe thought he was seeing himself fight when he saw me punch. I put on a show. I’m a combination of Foreman and Muhammad Ali; power punching like Foreman, elusive like Ali with good footwork and light on my toes.

“I’m not sure if this was the best fight of my career, but he was my best opponent and the toughest guy I’ve fought. He came into the ring in good shape and tried to fight. His downfall was Pryce Being Right weer. I love throwing my straight right and that keeps opening up my left hook to the body.”

Taylor had a 60-11 amateur rekord, including a pair of New York Golden Gloves titles, and he was the heavyweight runner-up four times in the prestigious USA Boxing National Championship tournaments. “Pryce’s TKO win was exactly what I expected – dominant, calculated, and explosive,” Sullivan remarked. “He’s not just another prospect; with continued work, he can be the next great American heavyweight. With every fight, he’s proving that he has the tools, the discipline, and the mindset to be a force within this division. We’re building something special, and the world’s about to see it.”
