Bernard Dunne celebrating world title anniversary

“Зрештою,,” the 54-year-old Walsh admitted, “it is an unusual situation for me. But I’ve been coaching here two years and Team USA is my team now. I didn’t come here for just a few years. When I eventually leave, Team USA will have developed continuity and a solid program.
“I am a true Irishman who developed through a system that won multiple titles and I was the Irish Team captain for five years. I’m helping develop strong relations between USA and Ireland that can help both programs. Ireland has been among the best of the world – amazing considering the geographical size of Ireland — with its fighters’ great hearts along with their technique and skill. There’s a lot of talent and resources in the states, but amateur boxers have been taught to develop skills more for professional boxing. Here there is a variety of different ethnic groups: Mexicans, African-American and Caucasians, занадто. It’s truly a melting pot and each has a unique style of boxing. We are now providing coaching education for US programs to be sustainable long term.”

Many Irish and Irish-American boxers have fought in the Greater Boston area, some born and others resettling there. The tradition started back in the 19ї century with “The Boston Strongboy,” Джон. L. Sullivan (Roxbury, Массачусетс), the first millionaire American athlete, as well as the first “gloves” world heavyweight champion and final “bare knuckles” heavyweight champion of the world. GUWAHATI, Індія (Листопад 26, 2017) — Коачелла, California-native Citlalli Ortiz closed out her impressive 2017 Women’s Youth World Championships campaign with a split decision victory over Russia’s Nataliya Sychugova to take her first major international title in Guwahati, Індія.
“Today feels like one of the best days of my life,” stated Ortiz following her win. “Після бою, I doubted myself, but I am extremely happy I pulled out the win and it feels amazing being a world champion.”
Ortiz gold medal closes out a strong showing from the young American delegation. Team USA’s other medal, a bronze, was won yesterday by Isamary Aquino of Universal City, Техас.
“I am extremely proud of my performance at my first international tournament,” said Aquino following her medal ceremony. “It was an honor to be able to represent Team USA and bring home a world championship medal.”
The remaining members of the team included: Aidyl Cardenas (Calexico, Каліфорнія.),Diana Estrada (Hillsboro, Oregon), Heaven Garcia (El Monte, Каліфорнія.), Roma Martinez (Humble, Техас), Sharahaya Moreu (Albuquerque, Н.М.) і Amy Salinas(Las Cruces, N.m).
This year’s Youth World Championships brought 160 of the world’s top youth female boxers from 36 different countries all vying for one of the 10 world titles up for grabs. Team USA finishes 1-1 on second day; six Americans to enter ring today
GUWAHATI, Індія (Листопад. 21, 2017) — Day two of the 2017 Women’s Youth World Championships in Guwahati, India brought two members of Team USA into the ring looking to advance one step closer to a world title.
