Undefeated Ruben Villa Makes Homecoming Debut in Salinas, California on Saturday April 14th

PHILADELPHIA, PENN./ORANGE, Calif. (March 23, 2018)–Heralded featherweight prospect Ruben Villa returns home for the 1st time as a professional as he headlines in the Northern California city of Salinas on Saturday, April 14, from the popular Salinas Storm House.
The show is promoted by Banner Promotions and Thompson Boxing.
“Ruben has been coming along great, and on April 14th, he will thrill his hometown fans,” said Banner Promotions President, Arthur Pelullo.  “We are looking forward to this special night for Ruben, for him not only to put on a great performance in his hometown, but to capture his first championship.”
“This show has been in the works for more than a year,” said Alex Camponovo, who as Matchmaker and General Manager of Thompson Boxing. “It’s an excellent show from top-to-bottom featuring talent from all over the Bay Area and surrounding parts. You have Ruben looking to win his first professional title [WBO Youth] in his hometown.”

Villa, 20, will be locked in a battle with fellow prospect Marlon Olea (13-2, 12 KOs) of Colombia in the 8-round “New Blood” main event where the WBO Youth Featherweight Title is up for grabs. Villa, a southpaw, is currently in Riverside, Calif. with trainer Max Garcia preparing for his main event debut.

“I’m excited to headline my first event,” said Villa, who is co-promoted by Banner Promotions and Thompson Boxing. “I’ve been preparing for this my whole life. It came fast. There’s a lot to be happy about. It’s a title fight, and it will be in front of my hometown fans.”

Villa will certainly receive a challenge from Olea. He holds a unanimous decision loss against WBA World Champion Danny Roman and is known as a pressure fighter with excellent instincts.

“He’s a mover, and he’s quick with his hands,” Villa said. “I’ll be ready for him. We are getting a little bit of everything in this training camp. I’m sparring guys that like to box and guys that are coming in and pressuring.”

New to Villa for this fight has been the abundance of ticket requests from local boxing fans. The former two-time Golden Gloves Champion has already sold 400 tickets, yet the requests keep pouring in.

“To be honest, I’m not sure how it’s going to feel to fight in my hometown,” Villa said. “I tend to tune out all the white noise and just box. I’m sure there will be some moments when I recognize the crowd. I have to enjoy it, but keep my poise.”

Vitor Jones Freitas stops Lucio in 1

Philadelphia, PA (August 2, 2016)–Vitor Jones Freitas record remained perfect by stopping Licelio Da Silva Lucio in the first round of their scheduled eight-round lightweight bout this past Saturday in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
With the victory, Freitas of Salvador, Brazil improved his unblemished mark to 14-0, while notching his eighth knockout.
The 23 year-old Freitas registered two knockdowns, both with left hooks in the bout, which lasted just 79 seconds.
Freitas, who is the nephew of former four-time world champion Acelino “Popo” Freitas, will now look to come back to the United States in a higher profile bout.
“Vitor is coming along very nicely in Brazil.  We showcased him on four of our cards here in the states to get his feet wet and now he has won four straight back in Brazil,” said Banner Promotions President, Arthur Pelullo.  “Now we are looking to bring him back here in the fall and put him on television and fight for a regional title.  He is becoming the fighter we thought he could be when we signed him, and we are looking forward for the American public to embrace him in the same way they did his uncle.”

Ruben Villa destroys Gerardo Molina in first round of pro debut

Onatario, CA. (July 30, 2016)–Heralded amateur Ruben Villa (1-0, 1 KO) did not waste any time putting away challenger Gerardo Molina (1-2, 1 KO) this past Friday night in his professional debut. Villa landed a counter left hook early in the first round that sent Molina backpedaling onto the canvas. Seconds later, Villa, who is from Salinas, Calif., rocked Molina with a series of punches, knocking him out at the 2:25 mark of the opening round. 
“It felt great to get that first win,” Villa said. “I didn’t go in thinking knockout, but I knew after the first knockdown that I was going to end it early. I had a bunch of friends and family in attendance. I’m glad I gave them something to smile about.”
“Ruben looked sensational in his pro debut,” said Banner Promotions President, Arthur Pelullo.  “Even though it was just inside of one round, you could tell that Ruben is a tremendous talent, and we are looking forward to his next fight, which should be announced shortly.

Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade signs a new promotional contract with Banner Promotions and Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing

Philadelphia, PA. / Bronx, NY (March 25,, 2016) – A Team Promotions, Arthur Pelullo’s Banner Promotions and Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing are pleased to announce the re-signing of former WBO junior middleweight world champion, Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade to a new exclusive multi-year promotional contract.
“We are very happy to have Demetrius re sign with Joe & I,” said Banner Promotions president, Arthur Pelullo.
“We are looking to move forward together with Demetrius becoming one of the major players in boxing.  The next step is to win the WBC world title and then to unify all the title belts.”
“We have promoted Demetrius since he turned pro 7 years ago. We believed then, as we do now, Demetrius is one of the most talented boxers in the world.  We are all looking forward to a bright future together,”said Star Boxing CEO, Joe DeGuardia.

Andrade of Providence, Rhode Island has a record of 22-0 with 15 knockouts.

The 27 year-old former world amateur champion and 2008 Olympian turned professional in 2008 and became the WBO junior middleweight world champion with a 12-round split decision over 2004 United States Olympian Vanes Martirosyan.

He made one defense of the crown by stopping Brian Rose in 7 rounds on June 14, 2014.

He is coming off a 2nd round stoppage over Dario Fabian Pucheta on October 17th in Uncasville, Connecticut.
