Pound-4-Pound Boxing Program sends Jordan Aguilar and Leslie Soto to Elite Qualifier
לאַס וועגאַס, נוו (אָקטאָבער 12, 2017) – On the week of October 16th-21st, two of the rising stars of the “Pound-4-Pound” boxing gym in Las Vegas, נעוואַדאַ, Jordan Aguilar, 19 years-old fighting in the 108 לבס. division as well as Leslie Soto, 18 years-old in the 125 לבס, will compete at The Eastern Elite Qualifier and Regional Open Championships held at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee for a national title.
The event will feature the very best fighters from across the United States and features many future stars of the division with Jordan Aguilar and Leslie Soto at the top of the list of the talent heading into next weekend’s event.
Jordan Aguilar, a well-respected amateur, who has fought in numerous national competitions is looking to show his experience and poise as one of the favorites heading into the event.
Leslie Soto also a seasoned veteran will be looking to show why her aggressive style has drawn the attention of many who have seen her in the gym. She is currently ranked #3 by USA Boxing.
“I am impressed with them every day and excited for them to see what their hard work gets them,” said head coach Richard Barrientes. “This is a major tournament with the best fighters from around the country. All fighters who come out on top will qualify to compete in the 2017 Elite National Championships in December”

פילאדעלפיע – Dylan Price, of Sicklerville, נדזש, will be named the “2016 Amateur of the Year” at the Briscoe Awards on Sunday, אָקטאָבער 15, 2017, at Xfinity Live! אין פילאדעלפיע. Price won the US National Championships in Reno, Nevada and took home a Bronze Medal at the Youth World Championships, אין סט. פעטערבורג, רוסלאַנד, both in 2016. His stellar year earned him bragging rights as the area’s top amateur.
Price recently turned professional, and will take home the final salutation for his fine amateur career אויף זונטאג. Past winners of the award include Darmani Rock, Jaron Ennis, and Stephen Fulton, all currently unbeaten pros.
ABOUT THE BRISCOE AWARDS ON אָקטאָבער 15 פֿון 1-4 PM
The Briscoe Awards are named in honor of legendary Philly middleweight Bennie Briscoe and the trophies given away – the Briscoe Statue and the Briscoe Medal – all bear the deceased icon’s likeness. The event brings together the local boxing community, including the award winners, their families, past and present boxers, קאַמף fans, other boxing people, and general sports fans.
This is the tenth year for the Briscoe Awards, which are presented by Philly Boxing History Inc., אַ 501(C)3 Non-Profit Organization, dedicated to preserving and celebrating Philadelphia’s great boxing legacy. Past winners at the Briscoe Awards include Bernard Hopkins, דאַני גאַרסיאַ, סטיוו קוננינגהאַם, and many others.

פילאדעלפיע (ויגוסט 1, 2017)–D and D Management and Promotional team would like to congratulate their amateur division, D-Boys Boxing Gym, for winning five national championships at the Ringside national tournament in Kansas City, מאַזעראַ.
Head coach David Price took 8 youths from the South Jersey area to Kansas City Missouri from July 25-30th, and Five of the eight boxers won gold medals (Lake Tilghman, Wykier Travis, Raymond Ford, Derron Gaines and Dante Trader); and three won bronze metals (Devin Price, Fitzroy Paul and Jule Jackson).
D-Boys Boxing has a goal of keeping the young people in the gyms and out of the streets.
D-Boys boxing is s non-profit organization, and any and all contributions would further efforts of keeping the South Jersey youth on the road to success.

נאַטלי, נדזש (יולי 31, 2017) – Last week in Mesquite, נעוואַדאַ. 15 year-old Vito Mielnicki, דזשוניער. took 2nd place in the Golden Gloves Junior National Tournament.

What made this a special feat for Mielnicki, was that he went up five weight classes for 101 pounds to 125 and narrowly lost to a split decision to the number-one ranked Luis Ybarra of Colorado.
Mielnicki is a former three-time Junior National Golden Goves champion, and was named the tournament Most Outstanding Boxer twice. Mielnicki went up in weight and fought him on the highly accomplished Ybarra on even terms.
Since the age of seven, Mielnicki has been trained by Wali Moses , who is the grandfather and trainer of 2016 Olympic Silver Medal winner Shakur Stevenson

לאַס וועגאַס, נוו (יולי 5, 2017) – After traveling overseas for the “Monkstown Dublin Box Cup 2017”, an international amateur boxing tournament in Ireland, Demler Zamora ווו פון די Pound-4-Pound Boxing program in Las Vegas, brought home a gold medal. דערצו, Zamora was voted most outstanding boxer of the tournament, which hosted over 1,000 fighters from around the world.
“Demler Zamora III is a special talent and one of the best boxers in our program,” said Pound-4-Pound owner Richard Barrientes. “זיין טאַטע Demler II, who is his head coach, puts in a lot of work to make his son the fighter he is. He’s an amazing coach and he’s a big reason for the success of our program with is knowledge of the sport, in addition to his strength and conditioning workouts. לאַס וועגאַס, נוו (יוני 8, 2017) – די “Pound-4-Pound” boxing gym, לאַס וועגאַס’ #1 amateur boxing program, is sending 18 participants to this weekend’s 6טה Annual Southern California State Championships, in beautiful Menifee, קאַליפאָרניאַ. The three-day tournament, sanctioned by U.S.A. באָקסינג, goes live starting this Friday June 9טה, and carries on through June 11טה.
Pound-4-Pound head coach, Richard Barrientes Jr., has been grooming most of his students since they were 8-years old. Barrientes hopes to bring home titles in several weight classes.
“This is a very difficult tournament for all weight classes because there are so many good fighters participating from Southern and Northern California, along with some neighboring states,” said Barrientes. “I feel we have some of the top kids competing in this tournament and I’m hoping to bring home a few titles. It won’t be easy, but I have faith my team will do well, because I know they all put in an extremely amount of hard work. געווינען אָדער פאַרלירן, it’s all about keeping these kids in a positive environment, where they can excel and gain self-esteem.”

Lowell, מאַסע. (מאַרץ 3, 2017) – Western New England won its fourth consecutive New England Tournament of Champions open class team title last night in the grand finale of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Western NE had seven individual winners to earn the Bill Hoar Memorial Award as the Most Outstanding Team. Northern New England finished second with three individual winners and Central New England had two.
“אַמאָל ווידער,” New England Golden Gloves Executive Director Bobby Russo האט, “it was a great tournament with so many good, competitive matches. We had the biggest crowd of the season turnout for the finals. The draw was done by computer, so the marches were nice and fair. I really liked the way these boxers were matched. The fans here in Lowell have been appreciated for a long time watching good fights and we plan to keep that rich tradition going.”
Western New England bantamweight Nathan Martinez, who defeated Joseph Valdez on points last night, was named the recipient of the Thomas Costello Memorial Award as the Most Outstanding Boxer.
Norther New England lightweight Liz Leddy won her sixth All-New England title with a close points win over Kelsay Kaiser, while three-time National Golden Gloves champion ראַשידי עליס (Central New England), who is the No. 2 rated lightweight in the United States, took a decision against defending N.E. מייַסטער Lyndsay Kyajohnian.
Western New England light heavyweight Elivis Figueroa captured his third All-New England crown. His teammate, האַמפּטאָן מיללער (pictured below), סטאַפּט Sean Gabriel in the second round to win the Rocky Marciano Memorial Award as the Most Outstanding Heavyweight Boxer.
Last night’s open-class winners qualified to be members of Team New England at the National Golden Gloves Championships for men in Lafayette, Louisiana (מייַ) and women in Ft. Lauderdale, פלאָרידאַ (יולי).

“New England will be sending a strong team to the National Golden Gloves,” Russo added. “We may only have three female boxers going to The Nationals, but each one of them have won national tournaments. Anyone of the male boxers on Team New England could win at The Nationals. I think Elvis (פיגועראָאַ), Yarmarco (Guzman) און Josnieך (קאסטרא). I will offer the Team New England head coaching position to לויס ראָסאַ from the winning Western New England team. We’ll also be brining קאַרלאָס גאַרסיאַ (veteran coach from Worcester), who will be inducted into the National Golden Gloves Hall of Fame.)
Proceeds from the Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship went towards sending the New England Golden Gloves champions to the National Golden Gloves Championship, in addition to supporting local athletes and area gyms, the Boys & Girls Club, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, cancer funds, scholarships and many other great charitable causes.

I am proud to officially announce my 6th Official Amateur Boxing Reunion that will take place on March 18 at Monique’s Lounge in Harlem, ניו יארק. I am expecting by far the largest turn out of any of the previous 5 reunions which were held twice at Rival Boxing in Las Vegas, once at Jimmy’s Corner in Manhattan and once each at Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casinos.
Of the over 100 boxers attending this far, among them I expect the likes of 1988 אָלימפּיק זילבער מעדאַליסט Riddick Big Daddy Bowe, NYC Golden Gloves Champ “Poison” יינגער דזשאָנעס, 1984 Olympic champ מארק ברעלאַנד, 1974 National Junior Olympic champ מאַרלאָן סטאַרלינג, 1996 USA Olympic team captain לאָראַנס ליים-Bey און 1988 National Golden Gloves Champion Mark “אויך שאַרף” זשאנסאן.
At my past reunions, including the most recent one held at the Rival Boxing Store in Las Vegas on נאָוועמבער 18, we’ve had the likes of Roy Jones Jr., Alex “בראנקס באָמבער” Ramos, 1992 Olympian Montell Griffin, former three time world champions Mike McCallum and Iran Barkley, און “The Fighter” and Irish Micky Ward in attendance.
Among the most special of moments at my reunions, we had Mike McCallum and Alex Ramos, who met each other in the semi-finals of the 1980 NYC Golden Gloves, reconnect in Las Vegas in late 2014, we had Luis Ortiz and Lawrence Clay-Bey, who were brought together in 2015 at Foxwoods after not only not seeing each other in 38 YEARS but after not even knowing they fought against each other in 1977 until just a few days before they reunited and in NYC over the summer of 2015 we had 1984 New York City Golden Gloves 156 pound champion and runner up Dennis “The Magician” Milton and Jesse Lanton connect once again.
Any media who wish to attend the event in Harlem, New York on March 18 are more than welcome to be a part of the festivities.
