2017 M-1 Global Fighter of the Year M-1 Challenge Lightweight Champion Damir Ismagulov

SAINT-PÉTERSBOURG, Russie (Janvier 16, 2018) — M-1 Challenge champion léger Damir Ismagulov a été choisi par les fans mixtes arts martiaux dans le monde entier comme 2017 M-1 Global Fighter of the Year.
Combats de Orenburg, Russie, les 26 ans Ismagulov (14-2-0, M-1: 8-1-0) était 3-0-0 en 2017, tous dans M-1 Action mondiale, y compris son M-1 Challenge léger performance gagnant le titre, suivi d'une défense de son titre avec succès.
Ismagulov, originaire du Kazakhstan, commencé 2017 en grand style, assommant Morgan Heraod de France, au troisième tour Février dernier à M-1 Défi 74.

Leur combat pour le titre a commencé par une “processus de sentiment-out” de simples échanges de coups avec le travail Ismagulov plus avec ses pieds, mais l'ouverture ronde a pris fin avec le favori local tenant un léger avantage.
Ismagulov, cependant, dominé les trois prochains tours et Divnich, dont gravement endommagé, le visage ensanglanté a montré les effets néfastes de l'agression continue de Ismagulov, n'a pas pu faire évoluer les choses dans le cinquième. Ismagulov a gagné une bataille d'événement âprement disputée contre le renversement d'esprit Rogero “Karranca” Matias da Conceicao, du Brésil, au moyen d'un non-titre, décision unanime M-1 Défi 85.
Ismagulov défend son M-1 Challenge titre des poids légers Février 22, quand il prend son challenger géorgien, Raul Tuturauli (18-3-0, M-1: 6-1-0), dans le M-1 Défi 88 événement principal au Stade olympique à Moscou.

SAINT-PÉTERSBOURG, Russie (Décembre 27, 2017) — M-1 Global a célébré son 20eanniversaire en beauté cette année, se rétablissant en tant que principale organisation d'arts martiaux mixtes en Europe et en Russie.
M-1 promu 13 Défis dans 2017, 11 à travers la Russie, ainsi qu'un chacun en Chine et en Finlande. Des combattants du monde entier ont concouru, y compris des superstars du MMA telles que sergey Kharitonov et Alexander Shlemenko, ainsi que des étoiles montantes Alexey Kunchenko et Artem Frolov.
Fondateur et président de M-1 Global Vadim Finkelchtein examiné le 2017 saison, répondre à une série de questions ci-dessous:
Global, comment évaluez-vous le 2017 Saison du M-1 Challenge en termes de réalisations et de réalisations en tant qu'entreprise promotionnelle?
VF: “Tout d'abord, nous avons augmenté le nombre d'événements. Vous avez promu des événements dans différents pays l'année dernière, comme la Finlande. M-1 a-t-il été adopté par ces fans et, si c'est le cas, Pourquoi penses-tu ça?
VF: “Nous avons organisé notre premier événement en Finlande et ce fut un véritable succès. M-1 Défi 82a eu lieu à Hartwall Arena, l'une des plus grandes salles de Finlande, situé dans la capitale d'Helsinki. De nombreux fans sont venus assister aux débuts de notre promotion dans ce pays et c'est devenu l'un des plus grands événements de MMA de l'histoire de la Finlande. La Scandinavie est une région très intéressante pour nous. Nous avons de nombreux combattants de Finlande et l'année prochaine, nous allons organiser un autre événement là-bas.
“Nous avons également eu un grand événement à Harbin, Chine, qui faisait partie du programme culturel du Forum économique. De nombreux visiteurs VIP et des milliers de fans se sont rassemblés pour regarder les combats et ce fut un superbe événement. La Chine est un marché potentiel du MMA et nous allons continuer à travailler, avec plus de combattants de ce pays, et y promouvoir un ou deux événements par an.
“L'année prochaine, nous allons promouvoir encore plus d'événements dans d'autres pays, prévoit d'organiser des spectacles M-1 Challenge en Géorgie, Azerbaïdjan, Kazakhstan, dinde, Chine, Finlande, Allemagne et États-Unis.”
Quel a été le temps fort M-1 de l'année?
VF: “Cette dernière année, nous avons eu beaucoup d'événements et de combats remarquables, il est donc très difficile de choisir un seul point culminant. Si je devais choisir, le match revanche entre Alexander Shlemenko et Brandon Halsey a été le point culminant de l'année. Des milliers de personnes à Saint-Pétersbourg en juin 1st est venu voir le match revanche et ce coup de pied du foie qu'Alexandre a donné a rendu la foule folle. Dans le premier combat, Brandon a gagné en 35 secondes, alors Alexander voulait se venger rapidement et il lui a fallu juste 25 secondes. C'était incroyable et inoubliable!”
Par rapport aux années précédentes, dans quels domaines M-1 s'est-il amélioré 2017?
VF: “Chaque année, nous avons plus de combattants de haut niveau et c'est la principale différence. Le MMA s'est développé dans le monde entier et la concurrence est de plus en plus rude. Seuls les meilleurs combattants ont la possibilité de signer un contrat avec M-1 Global. Nous avons la possibilité de choisir les meilleurs combattants, augmenter le niveau des combats, pour rendre impossible la prédiction des gagnants à l'avance. De plus, nous avons augmenté le nombre d'événements et la couverture TV avec de nouveaux contrats TV dans le monde.”
C'était ta 20e année. Quand tu as commencé 20 il y a des années, avez-vous imaginé le succès que M-1 a eu en MMA?
VF: “Je ne pouvais pas imaginer que le MMA deviendrait si populaire. J'ai traversé toute l'évolution du MMA et le passé 20 ans, je travaille sur la promotion pour l'améliorer chaque année. Le chemin n'était pas facile car il y a de nombreuses années ce genre de sport était considéré comme criminel. Beaucoup appelaient cela des combats sans règles et j'ai dû travailler dur pour que les gens le considèrent comme un sport légitime.”
M-1 a ajouté la division poids mouche l'année dernière. Pourquoi et a-t-il réussi aux yeux des fans?
VF: “Les combattants poids mouche peuvent produire des performances incroyables. Il nous fallait créer cette division car nous savions qu'il y avait beaucoup de bons combattants poids mouche. Ils voulaient se battre en M-1 et nous y sommes parvenus. Nous avons déjà le premier champion et plusieurs prétendants coriaces. En 2018, la division poids mouche sera très intéressante.”

Brandon Halsey recorded his first M-1 Global victory
KAZAN, Russie (Septembre 23, 2017) – American MMA fighter Brandon “Taureau” Halsey, fighting as a light heavyweight for the first time, won a hard-fought, three-round unanimous decision over his Russian opponent, Mikhail Ragozin, in yesterday’s (Samedi) M-1 Défi 83: TATFIGHT 5 événement principal, marking the first international MMA event ever held in Kazan, Russie.
Dans la co-métrage, Alexander Doskalchuk became the first M-1 Challenge flyweight champion.
Eight different countries – Russie, USA, Ukraine, Géorgie, Kazakhstan, Brésil, Kirghizstan, and Netherlands – were represented by fighters in this international event.
The 30-year-old Halsey (10-3-0, M-1: 1-1-0), fighting out of Huntington Beach, Californie, was a standout wrestler at the California State University in Bakersfield. He is a former two-time Bellator whose decision to move up to light heavyweight from middleweight, after him being stopped in the opening round ofM-1 Défi 79 this past June to Russian MMA star Alexander Shlemenko, proved correct as he won a three-round decision over Ragozin for his initi al M-1 Global victory, establishing himself as a leading contender for the coveted M-1 Challenge light heavyweight title.

ST. PETERSBURG, Russie (Août 22, 2017) – M-1 Global will promote the first international mixed-martial-arts event in Republic of Tatarstan history, Septembre 23, as Kazan, Russia hosts M-1 Défi 83: Tatfight 5.

The main event of the evening will be a light heavyweight bout between American invader Brandon “Taureau” Halsey (9-3-0, M-1: 0-1-0), the two-time Bellator champion, et Mikhail Ragozin (8-2-0, M-1: 3-0-0), a National Pankration champion of Russia who is also a pupil of legendary Russian MMA fighter Alexander Shlemenko.

The inaugural M-1 Challenge Flyweight Championship will be contested as the two Grand Prix finalists, Ukrainian MMA National Champion Alexander Doskalchuk (7-1-0, M-1: 1-0-0) takes on Russian Vadim “Bad Santa” Malygin (11-2-1, M-1: 2-1-1), who is a multiple regional champion in hand-to-hand combat and kickboxing.

Also scheduled to fight on the growing M-1 Défi 83 card is Georgian champion Raul Tutarauli (17-3-0, M-1: 5-1-0) against multiple Russian Army hand-to-hand combat champion vladimir Kanunnikov (8-0-0, M-1: 0-0-0) in an M-1 Challenge lightweight eliminator to determine the No. 1 concurrent.

SAINT-PÉTERSBOURG, Russie (Juin 9, 2017) — World-class MMA middleweights Alexander “Tempête” Shlemenko et Brandon “Taureau” Halsey have fought twice with each opponent imposing their wills from the opening bell to secure a quick victory.
Will they complete a rare MMA trilogy? Only if it’s a light heavyweight fight, according to Halsey.
“I’d take the fight in an instant at 205 (lbs); I can’t make it down to 185,” Halsey said. “I think the fans would really love to see this fight. I’d be healthy, he’d be healthy. It would last more than 30 secondes. It would be a war!”

The two-fight split outcomes, which totaled only 56 secondes, calls for a “match de caoutchouc” to determine which one is the better fighter.

“We have to see how confident he is about himself,” Halsey continued. “He has to feel really good right now, breaking my rib on his first kick, and punching me out on the ground. He must feel great about it. I don’t see why he wouldn’t want to do it again. I felt great about our first fight after I choked him unconscious in 30 secondes. I thought I could do it again, even with significant health problems. He must think he can do it again, even if we move up one weight class. Autrement, what kind of champion is he, droit?

“I believe that this trilogy fight could be a war, maybe something that will go down in the M-1 history books. The ball is in Shlemenko’s court. I’ll do the travelling. I’d come back to Russia and fight in front of his fans. The question is will he come up one weight class and fight me (at a weight) where I’m healthy? If he says no, bien, then that’s on him. I know fight fans will be disappointed if he doesn’t take the fight just because he’s a little small, but that’s something he’s going to have to think about.
“Regardez, if Fedor (Emelianenko) can walk around at 230 and fight guys that have 50-70 pounds on him, I don’t know why Shlemenko can’t win a fight at just 20 pounds heavier. Droit? M-1 Global is a great outfit and I’m very glad to be fighting for them. They’ve got some studs at 205 that I’d love to a fight. And I know I’ve got a lot to prove after that embarrassing loss, so I’ll take whoever they want to give me. If I get my head smashed in again, bien, at least it will be more entertaining, but if I smash some guy’s head in, bien, that’s what I expect and I can’t imagine anything less.

“I’ll take the next couple of weeks to get my health back, then start training. I’ll be ready to fight whoever they put in front of me this time. No more getting my ass kicked by the weight cut. That’s all behind me now. Let’s see what happens.”

According to Halsey, he never should have agreed to fight Shelemnko in their rematch.

“For the last two years,” Halsey explained, “I’ve been struggling and I think it’s time to let people know what’s been going on. My stubbornness and pride got the better of me. Against the advice of my coaches, many of my trainers, my mentors and friends, I’ve tried to stay down at 185, while my body long outgrew that weight class. I believed I knew better than everyone else. I thought that I would simply will myself to the weight and believed that, because I was the champion at 185 and that I had won nine straight fights at 185, going up to 205 would be cowardice, laziness and weakness. And I was wrong.

“I was recently finally released from the hospital. I had several things wrong with me: renal failure from my kidneys shutting down from the weight cut, blood clot threatening my heart, broken rib causing internal bleeding, extreme hypotension (low blood pressure). The broken rib was from the fight, but the rest is from the weight cut. My doctors have told me that 185 is not a weight that I can safely make anymore. I hate to admit it but that’s the truth.

“Shlemenko is a good fighter and right now we are one and one. I got him in 30 secondes, he got me in 25. Neither was a very good fight for the loser. And while he did break my rib with that very well-placed kick, I don’t feel like he beat me. The scale beat me before I ever got into the ring.

“I do believe we should finish this trilogy and find out who is the best, once and for all, but it’s going to have to be at 205. I understand if Shlemenko is nervous about fighting me at 205; he is small. In that case, I welcome a fight with whoever M-1 Global wants me to fight. If Shlemenko accepts the fight, as he did with Tito Ortiz, I hope we can finally have a war that lasts more than 30 secondes. If he doesn’t, I’m sure fans will be disappointed to know he refused the fight just because of his size.”

M-1 Global TV announcer Sean Wheelock not only called the original Shlemenko-Halsey fight, he also worked their rematch last week in Russia.
