(אָקטאָבער 2, 2018) — Los Angeles flyweight Heaven Garcia is on a mission to become only the third American boxer, second female, to capture gold medals at the Youth World Championships and upcoming Youth Olympics during the same year, joining Shakur Stevenson און Jajairia Gonzales, who both accomplished this rare feat in 2014.
 

 

The Summer Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018 will be held Oct. 6-18 at Parque Polidesportivo Roca in Argentina.

 

 

Garcia explained that her unusual first name is the result of her father being told he could never have children and upon her birth, he felt it was a miracle, aptly naming her, הימל.

 

 

 

 

Heaven started boxing when she was eight. “After a week,” Garcia said, “I fell in love with boxing. I never played any other sports.

 

 

 

“My short-range goal in boxing is to win my second gold medal at the Youth Olympics. Long-range is to qualify and win a gold medal at the 2020 אָלימפּיקס, and then turn pro and become world champion.”

 

 

 

The 18-year-old Garcia, ווער איז געווען אַ 2015 Junior World Champion, avenged her quarterfinal loss to Kazakhstan’s Zhansaya Abdraimova at last year’s Youth World Championships, winning the rematch with a 3-2 decision in the semifinals of the 2018 Youth World Championships final. Garcia picked up her second World title with her 4-1 split decision victory over India’s Anamika

 

 

 

Garcia doesn’t consider herself a pure boxer or devastating puncher, at least at this stage of her relatively young boxing career. “I’m a fighter who goes forward,” she noted. “I pressure my opponent, go to the body a lot, and hit her when the right spot is there.”

 

 

 

Garcia will be ending her youth career at this month’s Youth Olympics, after which she will move up to become an Elite boxer. “I feel I’m ready for the Elites,” Heaven remarked. “Every step I take is to progress.

 

 

 

“I’ve had a good year,” she admitted. (she also won a gold medal at this year’s Youth Continental Championships) “I’ve also traveled to Taiwan, Hungary and now Argentina.”

 

 

 

Heaven can’t wait to capture her third gold medal at a 2018 International tournament.

EMILY PUGH VS VERONIKA SIRAJEVA

Back in April this year Emily Pugh made her professional debut, and boy oh boy did she do it in style. Emily and her opponent Jelizaveta Cerkasova, who was also making her pro debut, put on a master-class.

 

 

 

The contest was a true master-class, but not in the normal sense of the word as used within boxing circles, whereby one boxer ‘gave a master-class to their opponent’, oh no it was a true closely fought master-class of boxing full stop, one of the most enthralling boxing matches in a long, לאַנג צייַט, one that is only matched by the even more recent ‘Fight of the Year’ nominated World Boxing Council (וובק) Atomweight World Championship contest between Emily’s fellow British & Irish Boxing Authority licensed boxer, the former WBC Muay Thai World Champion Denise Castle and WBC World Youth & International Champion Fabiana Bytyqi.

 

 

 

דאס קומען שבת, at Pride Park, in Derby, Pugh is set to step into the ring for her second pro bout, this time the Wolverhampton Girl is set to face Latvia’s Veronika Sirajeva on the undercard of the WBL & EBL European Championship contest between Ross Doherty and Gvido Seilis and co headliner Nathan Decastro versus Agoe Ashong PBC Commonwealth title showdown.

 

 

 

Speaking from her home earlier, Pugh said;

“I am looking forward to boxing six rounds. I intend to win them every one of these rounds with a strong performance, in style.

Emily Pugh versus Veronika Sirajeva is a support bout for the Ross Doherty versus Gvido Seilis for the World Boxing League (WBL) and European Boxing League (EBL) European Welterweight Championships, that co-headlines with the Nathan Decastro versus Agoe Ashong, for the Professional Boxing Council (פּבק) Commonwealth Super Middleweight Championship contest on the Daniel Gray promoted event at Pride Park in Derby on Saturday 29th September 2018.

קאָרפּוס קריסטי, טקס (סעפּטעמבער 22, 2018) – Tonight at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, טקס, San Antonio’s female boxing sensation, סעלינאַ “אַזטעק מלכּה” נעיגהבאָרהאָאָדס (5-0, 2 קאָס), remained undefeated with a dominating 10-round unanimous decision victory over Patricia Juarez (4-1), sister of WBC Bantamweight champion, מאַריאַנאַ “באַרבי” וואַרעז (50-9-4, 13 קאָס). מיט די נצחון, Barrios retains her NABF Lightweight title.

 

 

 

In the early rounds, both fighters were very active, throwing a lot of punches, but Barrios was the one landing the cleaner shots. Although Juarez was doing her best to box from the outside using a one-two combo, her power wasn’t enough to keep Barrios off her as she kept coming forward, landing her signature overhand right. Barrios hurt Juarez in round five, knocking her mouthpiece out with right hook, forcing the referee to stop the action momentarily. Juarez recovered but never was able to stop Barrios from coming forward as she continued to land thumping power shots. A clash of head butts cut Barrios on the forehead during the middle rounds, but she was never bothered by them. In the later rounds, Barrios continued to apply pressure, forcing Juarez to fight on the inside. Juarez showed a lot of heart making it to the final bell but came up short as Barrios remains undefeated. Scorecards read 100-89 און 99-91 twice all in favor of Barrios.

 

 

 

“I felt I controlled the fight from the opening bell,” said Selina Barrios. “Juarez was a very tough opponent and I give her a lot of credit for going the distance. I hit her with a lot of power shots and she hung in there. I didn’t feel any power in her punches, so I kept coming forward. טאַמפּאַ, פל (סעפּטעמבער 11, 2018) – Undefeated bantamweight and famed swimsuit model Avril Mathie will face Samantha Salazar at Fire Fist Boxing’s “Night of Champions” card Saturday, אָקטאָבער 6 at the St. Petersburg Coliseum in St. פעטערבורג, פל.

 

 

 

Originally from Australia and now fighting out of Miami, FL at the Famous 5טהStreet Gym, Mathie is a globally recognized swimsuit model. She won Miss Hawaiian Tropic Australia in 2012, די 2014 Miss Swimsuit USA International as well as the 2015 Las Vegas International Model Search. Mathie however is more than just a pretty face.

 

 

 

The 31-year-old Mathie had 20 amateur boxing matches between her native Australia and the US. During her amateur career, Mathie regularly fought more experienced opponents and did so in a number of different weight classes while still winning most of her fights.

 

 

 

Mathie turned pro this past February and her record stands at 2-0 with both victories coming via first round KO’s. Her next opponent however is a significant step up in competition.

 

 

 

Born and raised in Dallas, טקס, Salazar has a 5-5-1 record and is riding a three-fight win streak. She’s faced stiff competition including bouts against former Olympian Marlen Esparza, highly-touted Rosalinda Rodriguez and Casey Morton, all of whom are undefeated.

 

 

 

“I’ve watched some footage on her,” Mathie said of Salazar. “She’s a decent fighter but I’ve seen weaknesses that I intend to exploit.”

 

 

 

Mathie-Salazar is scheduled for six rounds and is for the ABF bantamweight title.

 

 

 

“We are proud to have Avril and also St. Petersburg’s very own Noemi Bosques fighting on October 6,” said Jody Caliguire of Fire Fist Boxing Promotions. “This is going to be an excellent night of boxing and I expect both women to shine.”
