‘THE AMERICAN GANGSTER’ CHAEL SONNEN ENDS RETIREMENT, SIGNS WITH BELLATOR MMA

Santa Monica, Calif. (September 15, 2016) – Bellator MMA is elated to announce the signing of Chael Sonnen (28-14-1), til en eksklusiv flerårig, multi-kamp kontrakt.

 

By signing with the Scott Coker-led promotion, Sonnen effectively ends his retirement from professional mixed martial arts and he will now enter the 205-pound division championed by Liam McGeary, bl.a..

 

“I’m consistently blown away by the product and presentation that Bellator is bringing to the fans,” said Sonnen. “I’m not nearly done competing and I’m coming after everyone, everywhere. I’m not sticking to one weight class either, I fight at ‘Gangster Weight’ and nobody is safe.”

 

Sonnen has spent a vast majority of his 43-fight career with the UFC, a run where he competed against names the likes of Jon Jones, Anderson Silva (2x), Rashad Evans, “Shogun” Rua, Demian Maia, Brian Stann, and current middleweight champion Michael Bisping. In addition to his exploits inside the cage, the West Linn, Timer., native has mastered the art of being in front of the camera, doing major broadcasting work for both ESPN and Fox Sports.

 

“Chael is an incredible athlete that has competed at the very highest levels of the sport,"Bellator President Scott Coker sagde, “I know that he is going to continue to do just that here at Bellator. When we were in the process of signing him, Chael was adamant that he wants to compete in three divisions here. He already has unfinished business with Wanderlei Silva, but he also wants to fight guys like Tito Ortiz, Fedor Emelianenko and even Rory MacDonald at middleweight. These are all fights that I’d be very inclined to watch, so hopefully we can put some, if not all of these matchups together starting before the end of the year.”

Erick Sanchez vs. Victor Martinez

Fighting out of Boca Raton, Fla., the home of the Blackzilians fight squad, the 5-foot-6, 27-year-old Rivera, who will make his debut under the promotion of Combate Americas, was raised in New Windsor, N.Y.. after being born in Nezahualcoyotl, Mexico. He jump started his professional career with a split decision victory over Andre Cuff på November 7, 2014, and ran to three consecutive wins thereafter.

In his last outing on Marts 25, Rivera submitted Jose Ceja in third round (4:45) of battle with a rear-naked choke.

Serio of Brooklyn, N.Y.. is a 5-foot-2, 24-year-old upstart who will enter the Combate Americas cage for the first time, riding a two-fight win streak.

In her last effort, Serio handily submitted Sadee Monserrate with a rear-naked choke in the first round (2:50) of their matchup on Juni 3.

Fitch, who has faced and defeated some of the best rival welterweight fighters of his era to cement his legacy in the sport, risked his World Series of Fighting title for the first time on April 2, defeating Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Joao Zeferino by way of unanimous decision.

Fighting out of San Francisco, Calif., 6-fods, 37-year-old Shields will seek his fourth major world championship. Den Cesar Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt held both the Shooto and EliteXC welterweight straps as well as the Strikeforce middleweight crown.

One of World Series of Fighting’s recent, high-profile acquisitions, 5-fods-9, 33-year-old Bradley of San Diego, Calif. signed with the league after decimating previously unbeaten Chris Honeycutt by way of TKO (punches) in just 40 seconds in the Bellator MMA cage on January 29, 2016.

Santa Monica, CALIF (Syv. 12, 2016) – A featherweight contest between budding Irish star James Gallagher (4-0) og Kirill Medvedovsky (6-1) has been added to the main card of the promotion’s first ever card at Menora Mivtachim Arena in Tel Aviv on November 10.

The fights join a main event that features a Welterweight World Title bout between current title holder Andrey Koreshkov (19-1) and the man who he took it from over a year ago, Douglas Lima (27-6). Desuden, one of the newest members of the Bellator MMA family, Noad Lahat (9-2), will challenge fellow featherweight Scott Cleve (15-5) in the evening’s co-main event. Additional fights will be announced in coming weeks.

The event will air in America on SPIKE Fredag, November 11 på 9 p.m. OG / 8 p.m. CT. Lewiston, Maine (September 10, 2016) - New England Fights (NEF) held its most-recent event, “NEF 25: HEROES & VILLAINS” Saturday night at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. The event featured both mixed-martial-arts and professional boxing bouts.

 

On the boxing portion of the card, John Webster (9-7-1) besejret Zenon Herrera (0-3) via unanimous decision on the eve of Webster’s 48th birthday. Webster’s last boxing victory came back in 2004, also in Lewiston, prior to his taking off a decade from active competition.

 

Also in the boxing ring, Casey Kramlich (5-0-1) remained undefeated as he stopped John Ortolani (0-1) in the fourth round via technical knockout. Likewise, Brandon Montella (5-0) kept his pro record perfect with a second-round stoppage of Tollison Lewis (2-2).

 

Rachael Joyce (2-0) won a unanimous decision over Jessica Borga (2-2) in a highly-anticipated women’s amateur bout. Rafael Velado (4-0) captured the amateur lightweight title with a first-round submission of Jimmy Jackson (3-3). Caleb Hall (8-3) retained the amateur featherweight title, and in doing so handed bantamweight champion Johnny Crafts (4-1) det første tab af hans karriere, in a very close split decision on the judges’ scorecards.

 

Aaron Lacey (3-0) kept his unbeaten streak alive with a first-round submission of Cory Trial (0-1) on the professional MMA portion of the card. Mike Hansen (5-4) handed Matt Andrikut (2-1) the first loss of his career in the co-main event, mens Jesse Erickson (8-5) indsendt Crowsneck Boutin (2-3) in the main event of the evening.

 

NEF also announced that it would co-promote its next event with Classic Entertainment & Sport (CES). The two largest fight promotions in New England will present a joint card titled “Supremacy” på November 4 in Lewiston at the Colisee.

ST. PETERSBURG, Rusland (September 8, 2016) – M-1 Global has put together a solid main card, headlined by M-1 Challenge welterweight champion Alexey Kunchenko against late replacement Eduardo “Camelo” Ramon (11-2-0, M-1: 0-0-0), for denne lørdagens (Syv. 10) M-1 Challenge 70in Syktyvkar, Rusland.
M-1 Challenge 70 vil blive streamet live fra Rusland i high definition på www.M1Global.TV. Kunchenko (13-0-0, M-1: 6-0-0), fighting out of Tyumen, Rusland, will put his undefeated professional record on the line against Ramon in their non-title fight. Kunchenko captured the coveted M-1 Challenge welterweight titl belt in his last fight, when defending M-1 Challenge welterweight champion Murad Abdulaev retired during the fourth round this past April at M-1 Challenge 65.
Ramon is a late replacement for an injured Maxin Grabovich. The talented Brazilian will be making his M-1 debut.
Russisk Andrey Seledtsov (5-2-0, M-1: 0-1-0) takes on undefeated German Rene Hoppe (5-0-0), who will be making his M-1 debut, in a light heavyweight clash with future title fight implications at stake.
In another match-up that could very well lead to a title fight, tidligere M-1 Challenge letvægts mester Maxim Divnich (12-1-0, M-1: 6-1-0), fighting out of Saint Petersburg, Russia by way of Ukraine, takes on former M-1 Challenge lightweight title challenger Artem Damkovsky (20-1-0, M-1: 10-7-0), Belarus.
Round out the M1 Challenge 70 main card are two more potentially explosive fights as Russian featherweights Timur Naginbin (7-1-0, M-1: 3-0-0) og Alexey Nevzorov (9-2-0, 4-1-0) throw-down, while French bantamweight Moktar “Le Kabyle” Benkaci (11-6-0, M-1: 0-1-0) ansigter Vadim “Bad Santa” Maygin (6-1-1, M-1: 0-0-1), Rusland.
The preliminary bouts include undefeated Russian middleweight Artem Frolov (6-0-0) vs. Brazilian Rafael “Kratos” Xavier (3-1-0), Ukrainian middleweight Artem “Shockwave” Shokalo (17-14-1) vs. Russisk Roman “War” Yarynkin (6-1-0), Russisk mellemvægt Khabib Isaev (1-0-0) vs. countryman Artur Potekaylov (2-1-0) and Russian bantamweight Sergey Voloshin (2-0-0) vs. pro-debuting countryman Vitaly Chesnokov.
