It has been nearly three years since the last time Bryce Bamford stepped into the NEF cage. The 43-year-old has stopped both of his previous opponents in the first round. Bamford trains with First Class MMA based in Brunswick, Maine and is looking forward to returning to the cage to compete once again in front of his many friends and fans. He is the training partner of former NEF Amateur Heavyweight Champion Nick Gulliver (4-1).

“I’m looking forward to stepping back in the NEF cage,” said Bamford. “I’m coming ready for a hard fight.”

Roger Ewer, a pharmacist by day, will enter the NEF cage for the second time as an amateur. He debuted in Bangor in August 2017 with a second-round technical knockout victory. Ewer is a member of Young’s MMA. “NEF 37” will mark the second time that he has competed on the same card as his brother, and reigning NEF Professional Middleweight Champion, CJ Vrč (3-2).

“I am extremely eager to step into the cage on February 1st,” rekao Vrč. “I’ve been hard at work in the gym preparing and I am looking forward to facing this opponent. I am honored to represent Young’s MMA in the cage and fighting on the same card as CJ again. I love the energy of the hometown crowd and I know it’s going be one hell of a night”

Fred Lear will look to replicate the success he had the last time he fought in Bangor. In August 2017, Lear captured the amateur bantamweight strap with a second-round technical knockout of Walt Shea (3-1) at the Cross Insurance Center.

Lear has had a stellar amateur career fighting out of Young’s MMA in Bangor. Prior to competing in mixed-martial-arts, Lear wrestled for John Bapst High School also based in the Queen City. He has won his last three in a row in the MMA cage. Should Lear win the featherweight title, he will become the first competitor in NEF history to hold championships in multiple weight divisions.

“This title fight is an opportunity to develop and grow,” said Lear. “An undefeated opponent with nothing but finishes, I like it—it’s polarizing. I want to turn professional. This is how I get better, that’s all I’m focused on.”

Like Lear, Zac Richard brought a wrestling background with him to the MMA cage. He won a state championship in 2015 competing for Massabesic High School in Waterboro, Maine. Richard now trains with Nostos MMA of Somersworth, New Hampshire under head coach, current UFC competitor, and former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion, Devin Powell (9-4).  Richard has finished all three of his previous opponents in the first round.

“Ja sam vrlo uzbuđen za ovu borbu,” said Richard. “The belt is great and all, but it’s just a stepping stone to my goals. I think this is a great opportunity for me to really show the hard work I put in. This fight camp is going to be extremely different for me and I cannot wait to have that cage locked. This fight will be just past the year mark of when I started training in MMA. It’s just the beginning.”

The winners of each quarterfinal stage bout in Group A will meet in semifinal stage action, while the winners of each quarterfinal stage bout in Group B will do likewise.

 

The two semifinal stage fight winners will face off in the championship showdown with the $100,000 grand prize at stake.

 

Replacing Ruquet in one the two tournament alternate bouts will be Vicente “Chento” Enriquez Marquez (5-5) of Barcelona, Španija. Enriquez Marquez will take on Ruquet’s original, tournament alternate bout opponent "Nemilosrdna" Rudy Morales (5-6) of Las Vegas via Guatemala City, Guatemala.

 

Announced today as an addition to the “COPA COMBATE” event preliminary bout card was a flyweight (125 funti) tilt between Paul Elizondo (1-0) of Fresno and Nathan Napolitano (0-0) of Salinas, Kalif. SAD.

Based out of London, Ashleigh “The White Wolf” Grimshaw has competed professionally since 2003, amassing more than 30 professional bouts across the European MMA scene. Unbeaten in his last four contests, Grimshaw has finished his opponent 18 times in his 20 pobjede. Sada, set for his promotional debut with Bellator, the 36-year-old will be looking to make noise in a division currently championed by Patricio "Pitbull" Freire.

LOS ANGELES - Bellator is pleased to announce that the organization’s current bantamweight titleholder Darrion Caldwell (13-1) will represent the promotion in an exciting matchup against 2017 Rizin Bantamweight Grand Prix winner Kyoji Horiguchi (25-2). The two will compete for the inaugural Rizin bantamweight championship at Rizin 14 ponedjeljak, Prosinca. 31 from Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

 

 

 

In the three-round (15-minute) Rizin FF world championship bout – which will be held in a ring under Rizin’s unique rule set – the victor of Caldwell vs. Horiguchi will leave Japan’s historic combat sports venue a Rizin FF champion. Caldwell’s Bellator bantamweight title will not be on the line in the contest.

Caldwell, a 30-year-old Rahway, NJ. native and the current Bellator bantamweight champion, most recently moved up a weight class to challenge himself, successfully finishing veteran Noad Lahat. For a long time, he tried to avoid this fight, challenging guys who passed their prime, because he understood he had no chances against me. But now the time has come to beat that hype out of him.”

NEW YORK – November 27, 2018 – Combate Americas today announced a pair of “alternate” bouts for its much-anticipated, biggest event of the year – the “COPA COMBATE” one-night, eight-man Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) tournament that will award its featherweight (145 funti) winner of three consecutive bouts a $100,000 grand prize at Save Mart Center in Fresno, Kalif. u petak, Prosinca. 7.

 

The second annual “COPA COMBATE” tournament airs live in English in the U.S. and Canada on DAZN (10 poslije podne. ET / 7 poslije podne. PT), and live on television in Spanish in the U.S. on both Univision (12 a.m. ET / PT) and Univision Deportes Network (UDN) (12 a.m. ET/9 p.m. PT), and marks the first time in history that California State will sanction a one-night, eight-man MMA tournament.

 

In one of two tournament alternate bouts announced today, Michael Irizarry (9-2) San Juan, Puerto Rico will take on Pablo “El Gallo Negro” Sabori (8-5) of San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, Meksiko, and in the second alternate bout, Joey “El Cazador” Ruquet (6-1) Las Vegas, Nevada, USA will face off with” Ruthless” Rudy Morales (5-6) of Las Vegas via Guatemala City, Guatemala.

 

Should any of the winners of the four quarterfinal stage tournament bouts be unable to re-enter La Jaula, the Combate Americas competition cage, for his semifinal stage bout due to injury sustained in quarterfinal stage action, one of the two tournament alternate bout winners will replace the injured competitor in the semifinal stage of the tournament.

 

Also announced today was a featured women’s strawweight (115 funti) contest between unbeaten Maria Buzaglo (1-0) of Lima, Peru and relentless battler Corina herrera (3-4-1) of Porterville, Kalifornija, SAD.

 

The “COPA COMBATE” tournament field features eight previously announced fighters, representing eight different countries: Andres “The Bullet” Quintana(15-2) of Roswell, N.M., SAD; Alejandro “Gallito” Flores (13-1) of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Meksiko; Gaston “Tonga” Reyno (8-2, 2 NC) of Montevideo, Urugvaj; a Zebenzui “El Niño Roca” Ruiz (7-2) of Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Španija; Bruno “Aquiles” Cannetti (7-5) Buenos Airesa, Argentina; Latin American MMA pioneer Pablo “El Gallo” Villaseca (13-4) of Santiago, Čile; neporažen John “Ronin” Bedoya (6-0) of Bogota, Kolumbija; and powerhouse Marlon “Deriko Siete” Gonzales (13-3-2, 1 NC) of Lima, Peru.

 

The tournament brackets and quarterfinal stage tournament matchups will be announced this week.

 

In “COPA COMBATE” preliminary bout action announced today, local police officer Evan “Pitbull” Solorio (3-2) of Fresno will face off with Jimmy “Mamba” Molina (0-0) od Spokane, Vašington, USA in a welterweight (170 funti) borba.

 

In a battle of two professional debut competitors, Albert Gonzales (0-0) of Fresno will collide with James Porter (0-0) od Fresno.
