‘BELLATOR 149: SHAMROCK VS. GRACIE’ TAKES PLACE FEBRUARY 19 AT TOYOTA CENTER IN HOUSTON

SHAMROCK – GRACIE III PLUS

KIMBO SLICE RETURNS TO ACTION FOR GRUDGE MATCH AGAINST FELLOW MIAMI BRAWLER ‘DADA 5000’

OFFICIAL PRESS CONFERENCE TO TAKE PLACE WED., NOV. 11 AT TOYOTA CENTER DETAILS TO FOLLOW

MONICA RAUG, CALIF. (November 6) – It’s a pairing that is synonymous with the sport of mixed martial artsKen Shamrock versus Royce Gracie and Bellator MMA is pleased to bring these two pioneers together for a third time on Feb. 19 at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas at “Bellator 149: Shamrock vs. Gracie.”

While this mega-fight is more than enough to round out the latest tentpole offering from Scott Coker and company, everything is bigger in Texas and that’s why in addition to the aforementioned blockbuster main event, Kimbo Slice will meet the man who has been calling him out since the two parted ways years ago, Dhafir Harris, better known as “Dada 5000.

Tickets for this MMA extravaganza start at $30 and go on sale Hnub vas xaum, November 14 at Bellator.com, as well as HoustonToyotaCenter.com, Toyota Center Box Office and Houston area Randall’s locations.

Gracie is a living legend, considered by many as the Godfather of MMA. This iconic pioneer of the sport is returning to competition for the first time in almost a decade for the third fight in his trilogy against fellow MMA great Ken “The World’s Most Dangerous Man” Shamrock.

Since returning to action earlier this year, Shamrock has made it clear that his present MMA run is about closing the book on longstanding feuds and solidifying his place as one of the sports all-time greats.

The two great warriors fought twice before in their illustrious careers, with Gracie defeating Shamrock in November 1993 via submission and then later in April of 1995, when the two fought to draw in an unforgettable 36-minute bout.

Kimbo Slice’s meteoric rise to fame from Miami street fighter to wildly popular MMA fighter is legendary. After his triumphant victory at the record-breaking “Bellator 138: Unfinished Business” event in June, Slice returns to action with more than merely victory on his mind.

Harris, a childhood friend and former bodyguard of Kimbo, also gained acclaim from his promotion and participation in the rugged world of street fighting. The story of the South Florida-resident was brought to the forefront of the combat sports world recently in the documentary entitled “Dawg Fight.

Now, the two former street warriors are set to write the final chapter of their beef in front of millions of people worldwide as Dada 5000 takes his prodigious brawling skills to the Bellator MMA cage against Kimbo Slice.

You won’t want to miss “Bellator 149: Shamrock vs. Gracie” on Feb. 19. With not one, but two main events airing live and free on Spike, the latest and greatest from Bellator MMA promises to close the book on two very different rivalries.

NEW SPORT, SAME FIGHTING PASSION FOR JOSH PARKER

Lewiston, Maine (November 5, 2015) – New England Fights (NEF), America’s number-one regional fight promotion, will hold its next event, “NEF XX: A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE” rau Hnub vas xaum, November 21, 2015 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. The event will feature a first for Mainemixed-martial-arts (MMA) bouts and professional boxing bouts on the same event with an MMA cage and a boxing ring set up side-by-side. In a featured lightweight professional boxing match, Josh Parker (0-1) has signed to face EliasDanger MouseLeland (0-0) in a four-round contest.

While the bout will be Parker’s first boxing match with NEF, he is no stranger to longtime fans of the promotion. Parker was a regular on NEF MMA cards during the early days of the company. He put together a record of 4-8 as a professional MMA competitor over the course of five years. Parker feels that he has found his true home not in the MMA cage, but in the boxing ring.

Boxing is a better fit for me because I’ve always loved the standup part of MMA,” noted Parker. “When I was offered the Brandon Berry (9-1) fight and started focusing on that alone, I knew I had found my true calling. I quit my job, started building a fight team, and have done nothing but study and train since. My plan is to stay very active, I’d like to fight every couple months if possible.

As noted, Parker began his boxing career in the spring of 2014 when he accepted a bout with Brandon Berry in North Anson, Maine. Parker held his own in the bout, eventually dropping a four-round decision. Fans have speculated that there would be a rematch at some point down the road between the two.

You know, people always ask that, but I really don’t care about fighting Brandon again,” said Parker. “You watch the fight and tell me how the judges came up with the scores they did. That fight was on five weeks of boxing training. Now I’ve had a year and a half. If he’s standing in the path on the way to the top then so be it, but it’s not something I’m thinking about.

What is on Parker’s mind is his fight teamRuthless MMA & Thawv. Opened in 2014 and based out of Benton, Maine, Ruthless is one of the standout new teams emerging on the Maine fight scene consisting of scrappy young athletes. In founding the team, Parker is very clear that he is only interested in training those who are serious about competing as fighters.

Ruthless is different because I’m not in it for the money. I don’t take people who are just trying to get in shape or learn about MMA or boxing. We don’t do ‘classes. We fight, every day. I’m building a fight team. When we fight, we’re looking for the finish.

Unfortunately for Parker, he has had some trouble finding boxing matches in the past year-and-a-half following the Berry fight. With NEF now operating as an MMA and boxing promotion, Parker, and others like him, are destined to benefit from the company’s stability and consistent events schedule.

It’s been very frustrating,” said Parker of trying to find boxing matches. “I’ve tried setting up a couple fights through other promotions out of state and they’ve fallen through. I know I can always count on NEF to give me the opportunity to showcase my skills. I’m extremely excited for November 21st, especially to be a part of the first dual MMA and boxing show. It’s been a year-and-a-half since my boxing debut. I’ve done nothing but train since. I can’t wait to finally be able to put all that hard work to the test.

And Parker will, no doubt, be tested on November 21 tom “NEF XX.His opponent, Elias Leland, is a member of Jay Jack’s Academy of MMA in Portland, Maine. Leland is a talented mixed-martial-artist who has competed regularly on NEF cards. He is currently 2-1 as a professional MMA fighter after putting together a 3-1 record as an amateur. While Leland has established himself as a submission specialist, he has shown very good hands and standup abilities to date in MMA bouts.

I expect it to be a good fight for the fans,” said Parker of the upcoming boxing match with Leland. “I’ve never been one to trash talk before a fight. I’ll let my hands do the talking on November 21st. Fans can expect to see me looking for a knockout for as long as it lasts. It’s going to be an exciting fight.

New hais Fights’ next event, “NEF XX: A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE,” takes place on November 21, 2015 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. The event will mark the first time in Maine history a mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event and a professional boxing event have taken place together on the same show. WHO: Kurt Angle was a Pennsylvania High School State Champion Wrestler, and an All-State linebacker on the Mt. Lebanon High School Football team. The two-sport star pursued wrestling at Clarion University’s D-1 program, where he collected a slew of accolades including one National runner up, two National Championships, three All-American honors, and countless additional championships.

After college, Angle won gold at the FILA Wrestling World Championships and began training for the 1996 Olympic games under the tutelage of Dave Schultz at the Foxcatcher Club before his highly publicized murder. After Schultz’s death, Angle would leave Foxcatcher and join the Dave Schultz Wrestling Club in his memory.

When the Olympic trials concluded, Angle had earned his spot to compete in the Olympics, but suffered two fractures of his cervical vertebrae, two herniated discs and four pulled muscles in the process. With five months to rest and rehab, Angle would win his Olympic gold medal in the 90-100 kg division.

After winning the gold, Angle parlayed his wrestling skills into an amazing career in professional wrestling in several organizations such as TNA, ECW, NWA, WCW, IGF and most notably the WWF/WWE.

Angle is the only professional wrestler in history to have won championships in WWE, WCW, TNA and IWGP, totaling an impressive 13 World Championships and 21 total championship belts. Nyob rau hauv 2010, Dave Meltzer’s “Wrestling Observer Newsletter” named Angle the “Wrestler of the Decade” for the 2000s.

There is only one Kimbo Slice. The unmistakable bearded brawler achieved fame through a series of street fights that garnered extreme levels of attention on YouTube. After parlaying his fame into an MMA career, Kimbo exploded onto the scene and became one of the sports most popular stars of all-time. Kimbo has been the focal point of the first and third-most watched MMA fights in the sport’s history. This past June in St. Louis, his fight against Ken Shamrock shattered Bellator MMA’s viewership records.

The first British World Champion in the history of MMA will always be Liam McGeary. At 6’6 the towering fighter has achieved notoriety around the world with his impressive skillset which has seen him end fights with impressive knockout power as well as jiu-jitsu prowess. Currently undefeated at 11-0, the future is bright for the Bellator MMA Champion. Most recently, McGeary defeated fellow Fan Fest participant Tito Ortiz in the main event of the groundbreakingBellator MMA: Dynamite 1.

The name Gracie is synonymous with MMA, and that is largely in part to Royce Gracie, the man who is considered to have invented the sport as we know it today. The winner of the first several UFC events, Gracie would dismantle multiple opponents in a single night, many of whom were much larger than him. For many years there was no answer for the Gracie jiu-jitsu technique that he brought into a fight. Today, it’s hard to find an MMA fighter who hasn’t trained in the art of jiu-jitsu.

Often referred to as “The Godfather” of MMA, Ken Shamrock is a pioneer of the sport, and introduced an incredible brand of MMA that helped shape the sport into what it is today. With incredible suplexes and leg locks, “The World’s Most Dangerous Man” always made for must-see TV. His heated rivalries with guys like Royce Gracie and Tito Ortiz generated incredible buzz, and helped popularize the sport. His fight with Tito Ortiz was at one time the second-most watched MMA fight of all time.

“The People’s Champion” Tito Ortiz is a fan-favorite all over the world. The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion was one of the toughest competitors in the cage. Utilizing his wrestling background, Ortiz was a grinder who defended his title an impressive five times. Always with a flare for the dramatic, Ortiz had intense rivalries in the cage with guys like Ken Shamrock, as well as outside the cage with UFC President Dana White.

FIGHT INFO: “Bellator 145” features two world title bouts. Patricio "Pitbull" Freire (24-2) defends his featherweight strap against Daniel Straus (23-6) thiab Will “Ill Will” Brooks (16-1) meets submission specialist Marcin Held (21-3), with the 155-pound belt on the line.
