Below are highlights of what the principals had to say on the conference call. A full transcript will be available in the coming days.

ANTHONY JOSHUA

Thoughts on his preparation for the fight:

“I feel great condition wise, and mentally I’m in a good place. I’ve never felt so relaxed because I just know I’m capable of doing it. I’ve trained weeks and years and it’s just about getting it right on the night of the fight. My tactics and my mind have not let me down so far, so that’s why I don’t want to change anything.

“I’m not putting too much pressure on myself. I’m going to attack the fight the same way I have my last 16 and put on an explosive show. That’s what the Americans love. They like knockouts and I won’t let them down.

“Every fight can be my last fight. As much as I would like to tell you I’m confident and ‘I’m going to do this, I’m going to do that’ I do understand I have to approach this as if it could be my last fight.

“I know he can hang around, he doesn’t go down easy. He’s a big guy, he can eat shots. The Dominic Breazeale I’m used to watching on YouTube and I’m reading about is the enhanced Dominic Breazeale – the Dominic Breazeale that is 50 percent better because I think he knows he wants to come prove himself on a global stage. And this is his chance come Hari Sabtu, so I need to prepare for the best of Breazeale.”

On going from being the hunter as a challenger to being the hunted as a champion:

“I’m not the cream of the crop in the gym. I’m around guys that are achieving things on the same level so I’m still hunting. I still have that mentality as if I’m a main killer in the jungle. I haven’t lost that hunger.

On potential to fight in the US in the future:

“I just keep on hearing the United States is where it’s happening. And if I come to the U.S., I’m going to shut it down.”

Thoughts on Breazeale’s performance against Amir Mansour:

“He’s a tough guy. He managed to go out there and break Mansour’s jaw and capture a win, which has led him into where he is now. Whichever angels were floating in the ring with him that day have led him to this point, so I’ve got to put an end to his dream.”

On winning a piece of the heavyweight championship in just his 16th pertarungan pro:

“It didn’t mean much. I still have another couple titles I need to get my hands on. I’m still hunting. There’s still work to be done. So it only ticked one of the boxes on my to-do list.”

DOMINIC Breazeale

If they’re looking at that one situation, I’m glad because that’s to my liking.”

On his feelings about fighting overseas:

“The way I’m thinking about it is, Bulan Juni 25, I gain 20,000 penggemar. I’m in a situation where I’m very confident going into this fight and I know for sure I’m going to put on a great show, come out victorious and go back to the U.S. dengan 20,000 UK fans.

“I definitely believe [Joshua] realizes; he understands that he’s got a big test in front of him. He’s got a big fighter in front of him. He’s got a guy that’s going to break him down, test his will and see if he is a true champion.

“I am coming into this fight very confident and I’ve got some things that I know are going to work for me, as well as some things that I plan on exploiting out of Joshua.

“I’m blessed to have been picked for this fight and am thankful for this opportunity. The way I look at it, and the way I look at every fight that I go into, is that as long as I do everything that I need to do in the gym as far as sparring, preparation and training, running my miles, sleeping right and eating right – I’ve crossed all of my T’s and dotted all of my I’s. I’ve got nothing to worry about. I’ve got nothing to second-guess. I’ve done everything I’m supposed to and I just can’t wait to shine.”

Saya tahu jika saya keluar dan bertinju dengan cara yang saya tahu saya bisa bertinju, Saya akan mengalahkan Ray. Memikirkan bertarung dengan Ray saja sudah membawa banyak pertanyaan di benakku. Beberapa saya punya jawabannya dan beberapa tidak punya. Kebanyakan pemain lain yang saya tahu bisa tampil dan mencetak KO terhadap mereka.”
APA YANG MENYENANGKAN ANDA TENTANG PERTANDINGAN INI?
LEONARD: “Hanya hati Keith dan Shawn. Kedua orang ini memiliki hati dan keduanya memiliki kemauan. Ketenangan itu. Anda tidak bisa mengajarkan ketenangan. Jika Anda dapat mengendalikan pikiran dan memberi tahu tubuh Anda apa yang akan Anda lakukan, maka kamu bisa melakukannya. Anda tidak perlu khawatir tentang seberapa bagus pukulan lawan Anda. Tetaplah menyingkir. Terus tempelkan tongkat itu padanya dan dia tidak akan bisa memukulmu.”
APA MENTALITAS ANDA DALAM PERTANDINGAN MELAWAN LEONARD?
MENDENGAR: “Saya tidak datang untuk pergi 12 atau 15 putaran. Aku datang untuk mencambuk pantatmu dan pulang. Saya tidak punya keinginan untuk pergi 15 putaran. Saya berlatih untuk itu, tapi aku tidak pernah pergi 15 putaran.”
APA MENTALITAS ANDA DALAM PERTANDINGAN MELAWAN HEARNS?
LEONARD: “Saya merasa bisa mengalahkan siapa pun. Kakakku Roger tidak berpikir aku bisa mengalahkan Tommy. Dia tidak memberitahuku hal itu sampai semuanya selesai. Di kamp pelatihan saya sering bertinju dengan Roger dan dia sering mendaratkan pukulan kanan. Dia mengira jika tangan kanan Tommy mendarat di tubuhku, semuanya akan berakhir. Adikku tidak terlalu percaya padaku.”

“I think I put on a great performance,” Brock commented after the fight. “I came out to give my best effort. We trained to fight inside to fight Chuy, not box, to make him uncomfortable in a fight he’s not used to. I won this fight on the inside. No backing up for 10 putaran keras. We prepared that way because we knew Chuy was going to come in throwing shots. But he’d never fought anybody of my caliber. I was looking to finish him but I didn’t want to get careless.”

Porter and his father and trainer, Ken Porter, were on hand to speak to media and show
off the skills of the 28-year-old Akron, Ohio, native at the Porter Hy-Performance Center.
Here’s what the Porters said Hari Rabu:
SHAWN PORTER
“Being the first fight in primetime on CBS since Muhammad Ali is very significant. It makes me want to go out there and do something inspiring.
“Keith’s injury gave me enough time to make extra sure that I had everything I needed to get ready for this fight. Not to say I wouldn’t have been ready Bulan Maret 12 but it’s given me more time to reflect and visualize. Pada Tanggal Bulan Juni 25, I know I will be 100 percent on every level.

“I think the fight is bigger since it’s been postponed. Taking it to Barclays Center is something that is special for the sport of boxing. I won my first championship there and I look forward to keeping up the recent history of great fights at Barclays Center.
“I want to win each and every round. We want to make him have to adjust to what we’re doing. If we control the fight, we win the fight.
“I’ve always been taught to control everything in a fight. I can’t allow him to slow the tempo down. But I’m definitely not going to rush. I have the skills to execute the game plan.
“I think the difference is in my preparation. I have a great team to match my great skills. We’re going to shock the world.”

“We normally don’t work out hard in front of the media, but we’ve decided to switch the energy and go harder during this afternoon session. This isn’t just for the cameras.

Mares returns to the ring after a loss in one of 2015’s most-watched fights against featherweight world champion Leo Santa Cruz. Di 2016 Mares changed his training camp to work with former world champion boxer and two-time “Trainer of the Year,” Robert Garcia (Mikey Garcia, Antonio Margarito, Marcos Maidana) out of his Riverside, California., fasilitas. He’s in tremendous shape but it’s a different Abner. He’s been a warrior all his life and he will come to fight – he has that mentality – but his jab, his straight punches and footwork are better than what fans have seen in the past two years.”

 

This fight marks the first fight for Mares in New York.

“I’ve been training with Robert since December. When the original March fight was postponed and I had a chance to fight Cuellar for the title so we never really took a break. We did change our training regimen a bit to stay fresh, get stronger and work on some tactical and technical skills. Robert has a great eye and knowledge of the sport, having worked with so many fighters, including Cuellar. It gives me an advantage in preparation.”

 

Why the change in trainers? …

“I knew I needed to change my camp after the last fight. I felt that we had a solid camp but in the end, I didn’t stick to the plan and it resulted in a loss. I am a warrior, Aku tidak akan pernah menyerah, always come back. I am not afraid to take a fight. But I knew I needed a trainer whose plan I would have to follow versus having a trainer who would fit into mine. Robert and I come from similar backgrounds, his record speaks for itself and I know this partnership is going to deliver big wins.”

What is Abner’s untapped skill? …

“Abner is very candid as a boxer. He has great skills in speed, footwork and power — he has all three and when combined he’s unstoppable. Sparring has been tremendous and if he does exactly what he is doing in gym and follows instructions then he can compete against any top featherweight in the world in my opinion.”

 

How is sparring? …

“Abner’s a beast. He’s doing great in our sparring sessions – his power is tremendous and his boxing has just become more effective. He’s always been a tremendous fighter who can box inside and on the outside. What the world saw and loved from him in August – his heart and ability to get in and fight – has been focused and strengthened. We’re very focused on winning and beating a hard-hitting fighter.”

The first event, “Knockout’s On Fire,” akan berlangsung Sabtu ini malam (Bulan Juni 4) from Grand Oasis Cancun the Hotel Complex in Cancun, Meksiko. Cancun`s ONLY Ultimate All-Inclusive Entertainment Resort will play host to all events in the series.
