Baltimore Boxing to bring Excitement this weekend to Ocean City!

Baltimore, MD (Maio 6, 2015) - Em Sábado, Maio 9, Baltimore Boxing Promotions will provide a complete evening of entertainment to Ocean City, MD.

 

Bilhetes a partir de $25 are available on Ticketmaster.com and at the Convention Center Box Office.

 

Em 8 PM, an Olympic style boxing card titled “Beatdown at the Beach” takes place at the Ocean City Convention Center. The card is headlined by a heavyweight title match including Baltimore Boxing Gym’s record holding knockout king Sam “Vanilla Gorilla” Crossed vsSalisbury’s KGC for the East Coast crown. Renowned Joey “Bazooka Joe” Veazy of the Baltimore Boxing Gym squares off against Down Under Boxing’s Nigel Fennell. Além, Donald Wallace of the Baltimore Boxing Gym meets Ryan Watson of Salisbury, MD, while young phenom Tommy Coe Jr., Ed Park and Omar Serrano will appear in separate bouts.

 

In association with this exciting night of fights, Baltimore Boxing is proudly teaming up with the Worcester County Humane Society’s efforts to find new homes for shelter animals. During the fights, there will be a 50/50 raffle with the proceeds going to the society and Baltimore Boxing is also donating tickets. The Humane Society will also be on hand to answer any questions and distribute information on their organization.

 

Throughout the evening, fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet a number of local notables. World rated cruiserweight Alex Guerrero of Salisbury and undefeated Steve “Show Stealer” Wheeler of Baltimore will be on hand along with legendary trainer Frank Gilbert and Virginia’s Andrew “Doo Man” Farmer. Following his nationally televised match on ESPN 2’sSexta-feira Night Fights the evening prior to “Beatdown at the Beach”, middleweight warrior Jessie “The Beast Nicklow” of Baltimore will be on hand as will Ocean City’s very own Brian Ziegler.

NOVA IORQUE (Maio 6, 2015) - Showtime Sports original documentary series “ALL ACCESS” earned a Sports Emmy for the second consecutive year na terça-feira, levando para casa os prêmios de "Outstanding Sports Série Documentário" no 36th Anual cerimônia Sports Emmy Award em Nova York.

Luta Relatório: Ozgul e Khan garantem títulos em suspense no York Hall

Vamos encarar, com a quantidade de centímetros de coluna dedicados a Mayweather-Pacquiao nas últimas semanas, você poderia facilmente ser perdoado pensando que não houve outros eventos de boxe ocorridos em maio 2nd.

Bem, havia outro cartão de luta, e tenho o prazer de dizer que estive naquele evento - Mark Lyons e Billy James-Elliott promoveram o evento Lords of the Ring no icônico York Hall em Londres.

 

ESTÁ BEM, reconhecidamente o York Hall em Bethnal Green não tem nada perto do prestígio de estar em uma mega luta no MGM Grand em Las Vegas, mas quando se trata de drama e emoção, desculpe, você simplesmente não consegue vencer o boxe de salão pequeno, especialmente quando é no York Hall.

 

Quando o evento foi anunciado, deveria ter quatorze lutas, mas imediatamente após o anúncio de May-Pac, um número significativo de lutas foi cancelado, como os lutadores queriam estar perto do ringue em Vegas, então, na construção final, outras lutas estavam fora do card, devido a lesões, deixando um show de luta de sete cartas na noite, ou foi.

 

O cartão foi reduzido ainda mais no dia, depois que uma das lutas foi cancelada por motivos de segurança - devido a uma diferença de 5kg no peso entre os dois lutadores estreantes - e se isso não fosse ruim o suficiente, o oponente de Manny Muhammad, Rafael Snow não apareceu, deixando apenas cinco lutas na noite.

 

O primeiro foi um seis rounds entre a perspectiva quente russa de Liverpool David Agadzhanyan, contra Josef Redlich da República Tcheca, que entrou no último minuto para salvar a luta, seguindo Isaac Owusu de Gana sendo forçado a desistir devido a doença.

 

Agadzhanyan levou apenas 45 segundos para enviar Redlich para a tela pela primeira vez e quase o mesmo para colocá-lo no chão uma segunda vez.

Com ambas as lutas de abertura terminando cedo e a transmissão ao vivo de TV não deve começar até 9pm, os promotores não tiveram outra opção a não ser ter um longo intervalo antes da próxima luta, uma competição de peso-pesado leve de seis rodadas entre o candidato turco invicto do Champions TKO em Hackney Onder Ozgul e o próprio artista Jody Meikle.

 

Ao longo das primeiras quatro rodadas, Ozgul apenas levou Meikle para baixo, deixando rasgar com a mão direita enorme em todas as oportunidades concebíveis, Meikle é tão durão quanto parece e parecia contente em absorver a punição desdobrada pelo homem apelidado de "Pequeno Mike" pelos fãs turcos.

 

Sempre o palhaço, Meikle minimizou o castigo que estava recebendo, alegremente jogando para a multidão, além de enfurecer seu oponente, fazendo caretas e insinuando que não havia força nos tiros dos turcos, no entanto, pelo fato de Meikle ter atenuado suas travessuras, mostrou claramente que as injeções de Ozgul estavam de fato tendo o efeito desejado.

 

Meikle atenuou a diversão de suas táticas ainda mais no quinto, enquanto Ozgul intensificou seus ataques, colocando ainda mais potência em seus tiros.

 

Desde o início do sexto, ficou claro que Ozgul tinha a intenção de punir Meikle ainda mais, apoiando o homem Scunthorpe nas cordas antes de deixá-lo rasgar com grandes rajadas de mão dupla, um dos quais, um tiro no corpo, literalmente tirando o fôlego de Meikle e forçando-o a se ajoelhar.

Depois de seis rodadas muito divertidas, o árbitro Ken Curtis marcou a luta 60-53 em favor de Ozgul.

 

Eu gostei muito da luta, Eu sei que não era um clássico, mas cara, foi muito divertido.

 

Na quarta luta da noite, Tasif Khan de Bradford em ação do campeonato pela primeira vez, contra Mikheil Soloninkini da Geórgia, para o título de galo de prata do International Masters.

 

Khan começou rápido, boxeando lindamente por trás de seu jab, o homem de Bradford manteve seu adversário um pouco mais experiente na defensiva durante a maior parte da luta.

Devo dizer que gostei muito da luta, mesmo que fosse bastante unilateral na maior parte do tempo, vamos encarar isso não é uma declaração sobre a qualidade de Soloninkini, como seu pedigree é bem conhecido, esse garoto é um osso duro de roer, como provado por ter levado Jamie Williams a distância, quando eles lutaram pelos Mestres de Bronze em março, e também lutou contra o sensacional Charlie Edwards algumas semanas depois, mas, para mim, a unilateralidade da luta, bem como o resultado, mostram o quão bem Tasif Khan lutou.

 

A luta principal da noite mostra uma revanche entre o candidato turco invicto do Champions TKO em Hackney, Siar Ozgul, sim irmão do referido Onder, contra Matt Scriven de Nottingham e desta vez havia um campeonato em jogo - o título Welterweight internacional da MBC.

 

Quando esses dois lutaram pela primeira vez, em outubro do ano passado, foi uma guerra aberta, Ozgul venceu, mas as rodadas foram tão disputadas que poderia ter sido um resultado muito diferente.

 

A luta começou de maneira muito semelhante ao confronto de outubro, nenhum homem quer ceder qualquer terreno, no entanto, pouco antes do final da primeira rodada, Ozgul lançou uma enorme direita no corpo de Scriven, o que forçou o homem de Nottingham a se cobrir para ver a rodada chegar a sua conclusão.

 

O tiro no corpo deve ter realmente machucado Scriven, pois ele parecia mais concentrado na defesa, em vez de atacar totalmente, desde o início do segundo, um padrão que permaneceu pelo resto da luta.

No geral, gostei muito do evento, especialmente as três últimas lutas, no entanto, fiquei um pouco desapontado porque algumas das lutas planejadas, como aqueles que apresentam Iain Weaver, Antonio Counihan, Mark Prince, George Hillyard e a já mencionada Marianne Marston, falhou em se materializar, porque, na minha opinião, se eles tivessem acontecido, acho que quase certamente teria sido um dos melhores shows no York Hall este ano, como estava, ainda era uma noite altamente agradável e divertida de ação pugilística e um prelúdio adequado para a luta May-Pac, que os promotores Mark Lyons e Billy James-Elliott arranjaram para os boxeadores, suas equipes e participantes do evento para assistir ao vivo via satélite em uma sala privada.

NOVA IORQUE (Maio 6, 2015) - Already a marquee event featuring Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KO) defending his WBC Middleweight and Ring Magazine World Champion titles against former Two-Time World Champion Daniel Geale (31-3, 16 KO) in a 12-round main event, the June 6 showdown will now include a live musical performance by Roc Nation and Grammy-nominated artist Big Sean before the main event.

Fleischer, with an amateur record of 112-18, is a protégé of 1996 Olympic Head Coach Al Mitchell and the youngest graduate of the U.S. Olympic Education Center for boxing at the age of 16. Mitchell’s guidance helped to propel Fleischer to U.S.A. Boxing’s #5 open-fighter ranking at 132 lbs in 2007, with only standout professionals Sadam Ali, Terence Crawford, Danny Garcia, and Luis Ramos ranked ahead of him. Fleischer made his professional debut on January 9, 2015 during Roc Nation Sports’ inaugural trono de boxe evento, scoring a second round technical knockout victory over Frank Jordan in a fight that was televised live on FOX Sports 1. Fleischer faces an opponent to be determined in a four round welterweight bout on Junho 6.

 

Brooklyn’s 19-year-old, undefeated Junior “The Young God” Younan (6-0, 5 KO) is considered one of New York City’s best boxing prospects. Born in Henan, China, home to the world famous Shaolin Temple and Shaolin Warriors, Zhilei began his amateur career in 2003, participating in the World Championships. He went on to compete in the World University Boxing Championship the following year where he made it to the finals. A breakthrough came in 2007 at the World Championships when Zhilei captured a bronze medal and, by finishing the competition in third place, qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing where he reached the super heavyweight finals, proudly adding to the host country’s medal total with a Silver Medal. Zhilei returned to the Olympics in 2012 em Londres, where he looked to better his 2008 atuação. After a solid start, Zhang faced a stern test in the hard-hitting, eventual Gold Medal winning Brit Anthony Joshua and suffered a heart-breaking loss. Amalbert in Juncos, Puerto Rico when he faced veteran Nicaraguan Sergio Gomez and knocked him out in the eighth and final round. Em março 29, 2014, the undefeated powerhouse scored a first round technical knockout win over Leivi Brea of The Dominican Republic to capture the vacant WBC FECARBOX super bantamweight title at the Cosme Beitia Salamo Coliseum in Cataño, Puerto Rico. The 24-year-old Rio Piedras native compiled an amateur record of 145-21 and secured national championships in the junior, junior Olympics, cadet and adult categories. No November 11, 2012, Machado made is professional debut against Alex Nazario at the Coliseo Roger L. Mendoza em Caguas, Puerto Rico scoring a third round technical knockout win. Seven consecutive wins would follow, and on November 1, 2014, Machado fought for his first professional title at the Coliseo Hector Sola Bezares in Caguas where he defeated Alvin Torres via a second round technical knockout to capture the vacant WBC United States super featherweight title.
