Irish amateur heavyweight champion Con Sheehan To make pro debut Jan. 19 in L.A.
 Nkhata Bay, Ireland (January 4, 2016) – Six-time Irish National heavyweight champion Ndi Sheehan will make his long awaited professional debut January 19 in a four-round bout, kulimbana ndi mdani kuyesetsa, at Nokia Club in Los Angeles.

“It’s been eye opening, I suppose, because Virgil is showing me the most simple of things, technically, that I’ve never seen before and it’s making a massive difference to me,” Sheehan said about being trained by Hunter. “My power has increased 10-fold with simple adjustments that I have learned from him. It was a bit of a shock because, I thought I’d cracked the technical side of boxing but he’s taken me to a whole new level.”
 The 26-year-old Sheehan has the advantage of directly learning from one of the most respected and successful trainers in boxing, Hunter, whose top fighters include Andre Ward (pictured here with Con), Amir Kahn ndipo Andre Berto.Sheehan is the first Irishman that Hunter has ever trained. “Every coach has his own style and mine is old school from Texas,” Hunter explained. “Mine is slip ‘n slide and my fighters need good reflexes and good legs. Korneliyo (Con) isn’t a dancer, but he moves the right way, and I like that a lot. I liked what I saw from the first time we met. He keeps himself in good shape and has a good amateur pedigree. I teach a pro style, even to amateurs, and some like Cornelius are better as pro fighters.
“Cornelius is a strong kid. He’s made mistakes, but earlier in his life, and that’s a good thing. There’s always a transition period and it’ll take him a few years. He’s already proven his dedication by being here. If he keeps on track, fighting and training in the United States, he’ll get there in two-three years. The heavyweight division is changing. This is like the time (Tim)Witherspoon, (Greg) Page, (Frank) Bruno and a few others would win the world title and then lose it right back, kufikira (Mike) Tyson came along and cleaned up the division. I’m particularly happy with his progress the last six weeks; Cornelius is focused on doing it, instead of just doing it.”
Sheehan is managed by Gary Hyde (Nowhere2Hyde Management), who guided the career of world super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rogondeaux, as well as two-time world middleweight title challengerHassan N'Dam N'Jikam.
“Con Sheehan has stood out to me as a fighter with incredible boxing skills who, I knew, would benefit greatly with Virgil Hunter as his trainer,” Hyde added. “After two intensive training camps, we are all satisfied that Con has what it takes to be a major force in the heavyweight division.”

SIZE AND POWER MEET TECHNIQUE IN NEF 21 BOXING MAIN EVENT

You can’t script a better contrast in styles for a bout like this. Just about anything could happen. It’s anyone’s fight. It’s going to be wild in the Colisee when this one goes off.”
Berry is coming off what many consider to be the defining win of his still-young professional career over gritty Mexican veteran Roberto Valenzuela (73-70-2) last November at “NEF XX.” Despite suffering a bad cut above his eye early in the fight, Berry maintained his composure and looked sharp on his way to a unanimous decision victory in the first eight-round fight of his career. The West Forks, Maine native was a 2013 Northern New England Golden Gloves champion as an amateur. The fight with Lewis is expected to be the last Berry will compete in above his usual 140-pound junior welterweight division.
“It’s great to be getting back in action inside the ring so soon, especially after suffering such a nasty cut over my eye from my last fight in November,” said Berry. “Thank you NEF for putting yet another very tough opponent in front of me. Tollison is a class act in and out of the ring, and I think our styles will make a crowd pleasing bout. I remember being undefeated still and I know how important keeping the ‘0’ on the record is. Tollison is a big, strong athlete and I’m sure he will be more than prepared. Both him and I understand competition, and will most likely be friends after this event. I’m glad to be sharing this main event fight with him, and may the best man win!”
Tollison Lewis’s foray into the boxing world was unplanned. Mu October 2014, just 24-hours prior to the start of the first “NEF Boxing” chochitika, Lewis stepped in to face boxing veteran John Webster (8-7-1) after Webster’s previous opponent fell out. Melson Nominated for Most Inspirational of 2015!
New York, NY (December 29, 2015) – Junior middleweight boxer and philanthropist Boyd “Rainmaker” Melson has been nominated for Most Inspirational by Ring Magazine.
Having dedicated most of his life during the last 13 years to help cure Chronic Spinal Cord Injuries, Melson’s selfless efforts have been chronicled by various media outlets. The visibility of the cause he fights for and organization he donates 100% of his fight purses to, Team Nkhondo kuyenda, has grown tremendously during the last few years.
The 2003 West Point graduate also helped organize three successful “Fighting for the Cure” galas and successfully lobbied New York’s powers that be to reinstate a bill that allocates a percentage of each moving violation towards Spinal Cord Injury research. Last summer, ndi 15-1-1 junior middleweight along with Dr. Wanzeru Young, Dr. Patricia Morton and others met with Congressman Chaka Fattah at a briefing at the Rayburn House Office Building Washington, DC to discuss clinical trials that could help hundreds of thousands suffering from Spinal Cord Injuries walk again. “Both Brant and Perez won their most recent appearances on ShoBoxand both were impressive,'' Farhood anati. “Brant took a big step up and outpointed Louis Rose in October and Perez pulled off the upset over the previously unbeaten Juan Ubaldo Cabrera mu August. So it makes all the sense in the world to match them against each other. On Jan. 22, we’re going to find out just how hot Rob Brant is.’’
Twenty-six-year-old Brant will be headlining his second consecutiveShoBox. In his first, he captured a hard-fought 10-round majority decision over Rose. Going 10 zipolopolo kwa nthawi yoyamba, Brant triumphed in an entertaining tight fight.

“I feel like I should have been here two years ago,’’ Miller said. “I’m not coming to make friends. I’m here to annihilate and destroy the whole heavyweight division. After this fight and what I do to Dennis, things will really, really start to pick up. I’m ready to destroy.’’
Besides being a hard hitter, Miller has good overall skills and movement for a big man whose weight fluctuates from fight to fight. He’s won his last four by knockout, all inside three rounds.

Dennis, 28, was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa. Before turning pro in June 2010, he was a top-level amateur: 11-time Iowa State Champion, 2011 National Golden Gloves runner-up in and 2012 The. S. Olympic Games Trials contestant.
The 6-foot-4 Dennis possesses good skills, movement and punching power to go with his strong amateur background. His weakness is durability; he’s been knocked out in all of his losses.
“I’m ready to fight,’’ Dennis said. “I’ve been training really hard and I am looking forward to the fight. I just want to get this win and move on as I will have a big year in 2016.’’
Dela Torre, considered one of the top young talents in the Philippines, will be fighting outside of Asia for the first time. A big puncher and winner of seven straight by knockout, 5-phazi 8, 21-year-old is coming off athird-round TKO over Ricard Betos otsiriza Nov. 14.
“It’s every boxer’s dream to fight on big cards in United States. This is the next step in my pathway to becoming world champion,’’ Dela Torre said. “I can’t wait. This is an opportunity I will take advantage of and show everyone I’m ready to step up. I let my team concentrate on my opponents and pass me instructions. I just know I’ll be ready and able to stop any opponent.’’
Before turning professional at 17, Dela Torre was a top member on the Philippine National Amateur Boxing Team. As a pro, he has made a “name” for himself after an impressive victory over Jason Butar-Butar on the undercard of a Manny Pacquiao-headlined fight in November 2013.
Guzman, a 5-foot-8½-inch 20-year-old, will be making his U.S. debut and initial start outside of Mexico since turning pro at 16 mu July 2011. In Dela Torre, Guzman will be taking a significant step up in class. Iye yagoletsa chachitatu chonse pa TKO Pedro Lopez on his last start in Oct. 9.
“I’m feeling very strong and ready for the challenge of this fight,’’ Guzman said. “Fighting on SHOWTIME is a huge opportunity for me. I hear my opponent is a good fighter, but I am ready for anything he can throw. Everybody is going to be talking about me after this fight.”
Yeyubov, 29, who could be on the fast track to stardom, is regarded by many to be the second-hardest Kazakh hitter in boxing, ranked only behind Gennady Golovkin. Since his days as an amateur when he won more than 150 ndewu, a vast majority by knockout, Eyubov has lived up to his reputation as a fearsome banger who looks to remove the judges from the equation.
He’s overwhelmed his first nine opponents as a pro, winning six by knockout in the first round and two by knockout in the second. The furthest he’s gone in a fight came in his second start when he scored a third-round TKO (2:57) zoposa Jhaquis Davis. In his last outing on Oct. 29, iye yagoletsa ndi 1:27, choyamba chonse TKO pa Antonio Chaves Fernandes ku Brooklyn.
Robinson, a pro since August 2009, fights out of Charlotte, N.C. A veteran of several scheduled 10-round fights, he’s undeniably the most experienced boxer Eyubov’s ever faced. A natural 140-pounder,Robinson won his initial 14 starts before losing on a fourth-round TKO to then-unbeaten Mkulu Ine pa ShoBox in a bout he took on short notice on Feb. 21, 2014.

The boxing action continues on Loweruka, January 23 as PBC on FOX comes to STAPLES Center with an exciting primetime doubleheader featuring undefeated Danny “Swift” García (31-0, 18 Ko) ndi kale lonse ngwazi Robert “The Woyera” Wankhondo (33-3-1, 18 Ko) in a 12-round welterweight showdown and undefeated rising star Sergeant Sammy “The ndani Mexican” Vasquez (20-0, 14 Ko) against Los Angeles-native Aron Martínez (20-4-1, 4 Ko) in a welterweight battle that kicks off televised coverage at 8 p.m. AND/5 p.m. PT.

A tall welterweight at 6′ 2″, James is undefeated as a pro with victories over Wayne Martell, Angel Hernandez and Mohammed Kayongo to his name. The 27-year-old out of Minneapolis has had a big 2015 that began with victories over Michael Balasi and Daniel Sostre and culminated with a hard fought decision over Juan Carlos Abreu in September. He will look to keep that momentum going when he fights in California for the first time as a pro on January 19.
A 2008 U.S. Olympian, the 25-year-old has an opportunity to make an impact in the welterweight division when he goes up against his stiffest test to date. He comes from a fighting family that includes his twin brother Oscar, ndi 2012 Mexican Olympian, and older brother Carlos. Fighting out of nearby Commerce, California, Molina stopped Lenwood Dozier in his last bout and has won eight fights in a row dating back to 2012.
