Undefeated prospect Toka Kahn-Clary Returns to ring this Saturday night vs. Gabino Cota in Studio City, California

CRANSTON, RI(Lub ob hlis ntuj 8, 2016) – Rising super featherweight star TokaT-NiceKahn-Clary(17-0, 11 KOs) returns to action this Saturday night against Mexican opponent GabinoFlashCota (18-5-1, 16 KOs) at Sportsman Lodge in Studio City, California.

A decorated American amateur boxer (131-11 record), his career highlighted by a gold-medal performance at the 2010 National Golden Gloves Tournament, Kahn-Clary is a native of Liberia who passed on a shot to make the 2016 U.S. Olympic Boxing Team, turning pro three years ago.
Kahn-Clary’s impressive second-round stoppage of Sergio “CuatitoLopez (19-10-1, 13 KOs) last November was supposed to lead him graduating to a 10-round fighter. His promoter Top Rank’s show hnub Saturday no, headlined by Alex Saucedo vs. Clarence Booth, doesn’t have a single 10-round fight, in favor of three 8-rounders including Kahn-Clary vs. Cota.
That really doesn’t matter to me,” Kahn-Clary said. “I trained to beat this guy, not how many rounds. I’m a lot better fighter than I was a year ago. I’m a lot more relaxed in the ring. I think more as I’m moving in the ring, adjusting a lot better, and my combinations are coming out a lot better.
A former WBC FECOMBOX and Mexican featherweight champion, Cota is a dangerous opponent who has knocked out 16 of the 18 fighters he’s defeated as a professional.
Cota may have lost four of his last six but they were all title fights or on television against name opponents,” Kahn-Clary’s head trainer Peter Manfredo, Sr. noted. “He has some pop, throws a zillion punches and just keeps coming forward. This is a good step up for Toka.
Toka is ready for this fight. He’s had a lot of good sparring. Toka is aggressive, well-conditioned, a good defensive fighter who can crack. There wasn’t a 10-round fight available on this card but we wanted this fight. Toka’s still only 23 so there’s no reason to rush things.
Cota is battle tested having fought world title challengerJonathan Oquendo, Puerto Rican Olympian Orlando Cruzand Russian champion Andrey Klimov.
I like fighting guys that come to me like Cota,” Kahn-Clary remarked. “It makes my job easier. I can setup my punches and fights against guys like this aren’t as much as a chess match. I’ll be landing hard shots and fans like that better than a chess match.

Mus saib hauv qab no kom lub tais Super 50 txoj hau kev yuav tawm PBC fighters:
Andre Berto: Kuv twb tau qhov Panthers ntawm ib npib ib xee. Txiv neej, tus Broncos’ yog liamhim kws muaj txuj ci! Kuv yeej tsis tau pom tej pab neeg uas kis tau thaum ib tug txiv leej tub li lawv tau mus tom Tom Brady. Li cas thiaj yog kuv tus tub Cam Newton mus lis lawv? Koj puas pom Cam khiav? Nws yuav khiav sai dua lawv.
Tiv thaiv cov Patriots, kws muaj txuj ci ntawd yog pub yuav liamhim, tab sis, Cam tsis pub tias. Ua rau [Running broncos tom qab] Ronnie Hillman, Nws yog kuv tug yawg; Nws nyuam qhuav yog gotta ua hauj lwm ntawm lawv tes me ntsis.
Dominic Breazeale: Kuv twb tau txais cov Panthers winning, 35-21. Cam Newton no xwb muaj ntau dhau kev lom zem, thiab no, Kuv yuav tau mus hais rau txiv leej tub yog unstoppable.
Omar Douglas: Kuv yuav nrog Panthers. Cam Newton yeej ua si ntau txhua lub caij thiab yuav luag mus undefeated. Nws yuav tsis tau koj quarterback nruab nrab. Omar Figueroa ❏ Jr ❏.: Kuv tsis xav muab ib twv ua ntej. Kuv nyiam cov Broncos li kuv nyiam lub San Antonio Spurs. Tab sis qhov Panthers yog lub Golden State Warriors ntawm football tamsim. Kuv pom cov Broncos uas muaj ib lub caij nyuab heev kom.
Miguel Flores: Carolina muaj lawm smashing txhua leej txhua tus, thiab lawm Denver inconsistent dog dig. Tab sis tom qab lub Broncos’ tsis ntev los no feem ntau ua si thiab cov kev qhia rau cov kws muaj txuj ci, Kuv yuav tau lo nrog tus cliché nto moo: “Nws ua txhaum ntawd yeej ua si, kws muaj txuj ci yeej championships.”
Tus Panthers no pom tau tias lawv yuav ua tau zoo kawg thiab offensively, tab sis cov kws muaj txuj ci tsis tau yuav tsum tau taw tes. Li ntawd, kuv yuav nrog cov Broncos nyob hauv ib tug nruj.
Danny Garcia: Kuv yuav nrog lub Panthers. Lawv nyob nraum dov tamsim. Lawv twb tau cov hluas thiab zog, thiab lawv twb tau mus ntau momentum mus rau hauv qhov kev ua si. Yog lawv cia li nyob focused tsis tog thiab tau ntes tau [nyob hauv lub hype], lawv yeej yuav muab.

Harrison Tony: Carolina Panthers txhua qhov uas. Thaum ib tus kawm quarterback, Kuv nyiam Cam ua dab tsi rau qhov kev ua si. Nws yog amazing. Tseem, muaj coob tus neeg tsis paub tab sis kuv me nkauj muam nraug nus, Devin Funchess (pictured saum toj nrog Harrison thaum nyob tom lub tsev kawm ntawv hauv Michigan), plays receiver thoob plaws hauv lub Panthers. Li ntawd, kuv yeej yuav nrog tsev neeg nyob rau hauv tej qhov xwm txheej ntawd.
Julius Jackson: Kuv twb tau txais cov Broncos. Lawv muaj lub zoo lawv kom deb li deb ib tus muaj peev xwm ua si li ib chav tsev cohesive. Yog zoo li cas yuav muab lawv ntug.
James jamal: Kuv yuav tau mus nrog cov Panthers, vim Cam Newton lawm tuav ua lag ua luam. Ntxiv, pab neeg ntawd kinda lawm ib underdog. Tiam sis txhua zaus thaum cov neeg suav lawv, lawv tawm tuaj thiab tsis poob, Nws yog ib yam ua kuv hwm thiab zoo.
Amir Khan: Kuv yuav tau hais tias cov Broncos muaj tus coj veteran Peyton Manning thiab lawv twb mus lawm ua ntej, li ntawd, nws muaj qhov zoo zuag qhia tag nrho kev. Tiam sis thaum kawg, cov tub ntxhais thiab explosiveness ntawm Cam Newton yuav yeej cov qhov niaj hnub no zoo li cas yuav muab Panthers nyuaj-fought’ yeej.
Paulie Malignaggi: Kuv yuav nrog lub underdog Broncos. Tej zaum nws cia li yuav nrog kuv lub plawv, tab sis kuv yog ib tug Manning ntxuam, mas vim nws cov tij laug yog lub QB rau kuv tus Giants New York, ces kuv yuav cia nws nyob hauv tsev.
Abner Mares: Kuv tabtom noj cov Panthers. Cam Newton muaj ib cov style rau thiab tsis ua teb uas yog dominates. Nws yog lub Panthers’ xyoo, Cam yog ib tug thawj coj zoo kawg li thiab QB, thiab nws yog ib lub sijhawm rau ib dynasty yug los tshiab.
Shawn Porter: Kuv xav tias qhov no yuav muaj ib yawm Super tais! Nws yog ib qhov matched tusyees heev. Ob pab ua ke yog rau ob tog ntawm pob khoom thiab muaj poj quarterbacks. Peyton Manning sim mus nyoj nws raws li txoj cai yog ib qho zoo kawg thiab all-time QB, thiab Cam Newton yog ua kom nws tus kheej li ib great yav tom ntej. Kuv yuav muaj ib lub caij nyuab heev de ib tug khiav, tiam sis ntaub ntawv kuv yuav nyiam saib Cam Newton thiab tus Panthers yeej.
Michael ntsaws ruaj ruaj: Kuv twb tau mus nrog cov Panthers. Kuv yuav nqa Billy lub kas-Cam Newton-dhau tus Deputy feem laus, Peyton Manning.
Errol Spence ❏ Jr ❏.: Tus Panthers yuav yeej vim hais tias cov Broncos’ kws muaj txuj ci tsis muaj peev xwm muaj lossis tsis Cam Newton. Thiab cov Panthers’ yog kis tau kws muaj txuj ci zoo heev rau lub plhaub-ntawm-nws tus kheej Peyton Manning. Kuv mus rau tsev kawm ntawv uas [Broncos tag defensive] Von Miller, tab sis kuv xav Cam kom yeej.
Antonio Tarver: Nws yog ib yam destiny xyoo Cam Newton thiab cov Panthers. Kuv tsis xav tias leej twg yuav cheem. Thaum kuv lub plawv yog Denver thiab cov paub qab hau qub tub rog Peyton Manning-peb laus hais mav gotta lo ua ke-kuv xav rau kuv cov nyiaj Cam thiab cov Panthers.
Txhua yam kuv thov kom yog tawm rooj li Peyton Manning: sim yeej tas ua ntej kuv so num lawm. Tab sis kuv xav hais rau Panthers yuav yeej.
Austin Trout: Kuv twb tau txais cov Panthers winning. Lawv nyob nraum cia li ua si nrog ntau pab neeg Science News for KIDS thiab yawm coj nyob Cam Newton. Tab sis kuv tseem J-E-T-S txog kuv D-kuv-e-H.
Sammy Vasquez ❏ Jr ❏.: Nws yog yooj yim: Panthers muaj ib hnub. Lawv yeej tau tua hluav taws. Cam Newton deserves nws tam sim no tom qab muab cov xyoo uas lub pab (team) thiab tag nrho cov zog ua hauj lwm. Lawv ua hauj lwm ua ke ua ib pab, yog ib qho zoo kawg thiab yog kev vam meej.
Deontay Wilder: Kuv nyiam cov Panthers vim Cam Newton rau ib qib txawv, ib tug quab yuam los yog reckoned nrog.
Thomas ❏ Jr ❏ Hmong/Williams.: Kuv tabtom noj cov Broncos cias vim yog qhov zoo tshaj yuav kev. Cam Newton lub xyoo tau zoo kawg li; Nws yog tus ua MVP qhia meej. Tab sis kuv xav tias tus Peyton Manning postseason thiab all-around kev yuav outweigh Cam cov khawv koob.
Qhov no yuav yog lwm taug kev ua si rau Manning, uas tau nyob hauv lub tougher, ntxiv grueling ua si dua nws cov hauj lwm kawm kom.
Thaum kawg tally: Panthers 17, Broncos 4.

RIVALRIES

Yog Steve Farhood

Boxing tsis rivalries yuav zoo ib yam li kev xaiv tsa yuav tsis muaj debates.

Rivalries muaj ntuj, tshwj xeeb tshaj yog nyob rau hauv cov boxing. Leej twg yog tus prospect zoo nyob rau lub zos?

Leej twg yog tus bantamweight hauv Mexico zoo? Leej twg yog tus zoo tshaj fighter nyob tas ntiaj teb?

Kiv cua xav paub, thiab no, ua tus fighters, tshwj xeeb yog hais tias yog yuav muab ib tug kuj teb ib matchup ib keev ib.

Cov piv txwv uas zoo tshaj los ntawm lub rivalry zoo tshaj plaws hauv keeb kwm, tsis hais kev ua si nawv: Thaum twg Muhammad Ali thiab Joe Frazier clashed nyob rau hauv lawv cov roj hmab match nyob Manila, lawv ntaus yeej loj tshaj lub ntuj heavyweight npe dab tsi. Lawv ntaus rau cov championship uas sib.

Ali-Frazier … Robinson-LaMotta … Louis-Schmeling … Barrera-Morales … Mayweather-Pacquiao … Pep-Saddler … Leonard-Duran... Holyfield-Tyson: Boxing keeb kwm yeej qhia los ntawm nws cov juiciest rivalries.

Nyob rau hauv 30 xyoo nco fighters unforgettable fights, SHOWTIME boxing keeb kwm lom zem ntau yuav hais txog nws cov rivalries thiab.

Nyob rau SHOWTIME heev, peb yuav tsum focusing rau ob rivalries particular ua: Rafael Marquez-Israel Vazquez and Paulie Ayala-Johnny Tapia.

Marquez-Vazquez is the equal of any pairing in recent history. So compelling were the battles, so consuming was the rivalry that many fans can’t tell you what the final scoreboard read. It didn’t matter all that much.

(Fittingly, the fighters split four bouts.)

What made Marquez-Vazquez different from most rivalries: They were defined more by similarities than differences. Most rivalries feature stark contrast. Think Borg-McEnroe. Or Bird-Magic. Or Evert-Navratilova. But Marquez and Vazquez were both classy champions from Mexico who needed each other to raise their profiles and all-time standings.

They gave us no trash-talking, no posturing, no hatred, real or imagined. Instead, they punched and bled and fought proudly and at the highest level. And because of the classic ring drama they created, that was more than enough.

Suffice to say that two of their bouts were chosen as Fight of the Year. And Marquez-Vazquez III was surely among the best fights I’ve covered live in my 37 years in boxing.

It was a bit different with Ayala and Tapia. When they first fought, Ayala wasn’t a familiar name. Tapia, on the other hand, was an undefeated and long-reigning champion with a unique personality and a distinctive ring persona.

A suitable rival is exactly what Tapia needed to fully realize the potential that we sensed when he soundly defeated New Mexico rival Danny Romero two years before.

A pair of controversial decisions, the contentiousness that marked the negotiations preceding the rematch, Tapia tus nyoos tig tau los ua Ayala-Tapia ib feem ntau yog ab rivalry.

Nws yog ib tug tsim nyog nco rivalry thiab.
