Undefeated junior middleweight prospect Anthony Velazquez won’t be boxing’s best kept secret in 2026

KEVÄTKENTÄ, Massa. (Heinäkuu 10, 2025) - Right now, unbeaten junior middleweight Anthony “ATV” Velazquez (19-0-1, 14 KOs) may be boxing’s best kept secret, but the plan is for him to make a major jump from prospect to title challenger in 2026.

Fighting out of Springfield, Massachusetts, the 29-year-old Valezquez has flown under the radar, never fighting a world rated opponent or showcased on a marquee event. His manager, Gunther Fishgold, has set the stage for a breakout 2026 for his talented Puerto Rican-American fighter.

The plan calls for Velazquez, who is a promotional free agent, to fight three times, starting July 19th Mohegan Sun, plus two more times in 2025 or next January, to position him to be world rated and fight on larger stages by the first quarter of 2026.

“I want to be the best and I’m going to prove myself,” Valezquez remarked. “I’m boxing’s best kept secret, but everybody is going to know who I am very soon. I like this pace (fighting every 2-3 kuukauden) because I’m always in the gym. No vacations; just the gym and home. This is my job and I’m working hard to keep my skills sharp. I get good work at our gym because my coach, Hector Bermudez, always has fighters in from around the world. I’ve sparred a lot with (world-rated welterweight) Rohan Polanco (16-0, 10 KOs), the Dominican Olympian, and I spar bigger guys, liian, like super middleweight Steven Butler (36-5-1, 30 KOs) – ‘Bang Bang’who was there getting ready for his fight (Kesäkuu 27, WKO4 vs. Jose de Jesus Macias). The work I get in the gym definitely helps me. It feels good fighting different people because they all have different styles.”
Team Velazquez hasn’t targeted any fighter in particular, but a natural foe is fellow New EnglanderChordale “The Gift” Booker (23-2, 11 KOs), of Stamford, Connecticut. Booker recently had his first world title shot, losing his challenge to unified (WBC & WBO) Super Welterweight World ChampionSebastian Fundora (21-1-1, 14 KOs) by way of a stoppage in round 4. One non-New Englander on Velazquez’ hit list for 2026, ehkä, is welterweightAlexis “Lex” Rocha (25-2-1, 16 KOs), who is currently world rated at No. 1 (WBO), Älä. 5 (IBF) ja o. 9 (WBC), but only if he decides to move up to the junior middleweight division.Velazquez is at training camp preparing for his July 19th return in an 8-round bout vs.Terry Chatwood(12-3-1) Mohegan Sun Uncasville, Connecticut, which is only a 1 ½ hour drive from Velazquez’ home in Springfield.
“I know Chatwood likes to box off his back foot and he’s tough,” Velazquez said, “but he has nothing I’m concerned with. I’m going to break him down and get him out of there. I’m comfortable in the ring. My defense and confidence have improved. And I enjoy fighting at Mohegan Sun because of its history in boxing and how close it is to Springfield. It’s like my second home (this will be his third fight there)."

Anthony Velazquez is ready to make moves in 2026.

A force in the super welterweight division, Harrison defeated Jermell Charlo in 2018 to become the WBC Super Welterweight Champion, giving Charlo his first defeat. This time, Harrison is gearing up to perform for his hometown fans in the Motor City as the co-main event of the highly anticipatedClaressa Shields vs. Lani Daniels Heavyweight World Championship event onLauantai, Heinäkuu 26, at Little Caesars Arena. Henry’s sonAli Salaam – Harrison’s father and former trainer, now deceased – was a professional welterweight who fought from 1984 kohteeseen 1989 and retired with a record of 11-6, 5 KOs.

“We are excited to get back in there and get to work,” said Harrison. “It’s been a minute, but we are going to roll out like George Foreman did for his comeback. I have a short window left, so we are going to be active, keep winning, and eventually get back to the mountain top. Regaining a world title is my No. 1 goal, and I am feeling very strong at 160. It all starts once again on July 26 in my hometown. Let’s eat.”

“Tony Harrison is the last world champion from Detroit — a fighter who has proudly carried the city’s rich boxing legacy all the way to a world title,” said Salita Promotions PresidentDmitriy Salita. “Now rejuvenated at middleweight, he’s on a mission to add another belt to his already remarkable career. An undeniable rising star under the Salita Promotions banner, Alabama-born Worthington has passed every test in the ring impressively. Stringing together three statement victories in the past year, Worthington has earned the interim title opportunity in a division that features superstarsKatie TaylorjaAmanda Serrano. Opposite Worthington, Piteau competes for a spot atop the star-studded 140-pound division. On the strength of five straight victories, Piteau will fight for the first time in the U.S. in a pivotal matchup against Worthington on July 26. The winner of this bout will be in line to face the winner of Taylor vs. Serrano III, taking place this weekend

Signing with Salita Promotions in 2024, Veyre has proven to be one of the most dangerous contenders in the featherweight division. On the heels of two dominant unanimous decision victories in back-to-back fights, Veyre prepares to take the next step towards WBC gold against the battle-tested Boudersa. Boudersa, 32, makes her promotional debut following a closely contested loss to Beatriz Ferreira for the IBF Lightweight World Title last year. Boasting championship experience, Boudersa stands as a stiff test for the surging Veyre..

The GWOATClaressa Shields will return home on Saturday, Heinäkuu 26, when she puts her Undisputed Heavyweight World Championship on the line in the main event at Detroit’s premier sports arenaLittle Caesars Arenaagainst the reigning IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion from New ZealandLani Daniels (11-2-2, 1 KO). Shields, the most decorated female boxer in history, made headlines earlier this year by becoming the first woman ever to claim the Undisputed Heavyweight World Championship—and the first boxer, male or female, to achieve undisputed status in three weight divisions. Recently signed to Salita Promotions, Daniels made history of her own when she became the first New Zealand-born fighter to win two world titles, and the first to win world titles in two different divisions when she defeated Desley Robinson in 2023. Shields vs. Daniels will air live on the global home of boxing, DAZN.

WBC U.S. Silver Light Heavyweight title fight James Perkins & Anthony Andreozzi Headlines “Oceanside Prize Fights”

Undefeated prospects James Perella &

Shea Willcox to be featured

Elokuu 16 Oceanside Events Centerissä Reveressä, MA

QUINCY, Massa. (Heinäkuu 8, 2025) – Old-school boxing returns on August 16th kutenJames "Pitbull" Perkins (13-3-1, 9 KOs) jaAnthony "The Gentle Savage" Andreozzi (7-4, 3 KOs) square off in the 8-round main event on a stacked “Oceanside Prize Fights” card, esittäjä Granite Chin Promotions (GCP), for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) USA:n hopeakevytsarjan mestaruus.

Kaikki toiminnot striimataanwww.BXNGTV.com live from the Oceanside Events Center (entinen Wonderland Ballroom) Reveressä, Massachusetts.

Osa tuotoista lahjoitetaan Quincy Firefighters Cancer Foundationille, voittoa tavoittelematon järjestö, jonka tehtävänä on tarjota horjumatonta tukea palomiehille ja heidän perheilleen heidän kohtaaessaan ammattisyövän aiheuttamia haasteita, varmistaa, että he saavat hoitoa, resursseja, ja apua, jota he tarvitsevat. Siirry osoitteeseenwww.quincyfirecancerfoundation.com tiedoksi.

“It’s been long overdue that Granite Chin did an event on the North Shore,” promoterChris Traiettisanoi. “Oceanside Events Center is a beautiful venue, and they have been a pleasure to work with. This event will be an incredible night of fights with a new WBC Silver U.S. Champion crowned. Päälle, että, we will be raising money for the Quincy Firefighters Cancer Foundation, which as a member of the Quincy Fire Department, hits home for me. The foundation does amazing work and provides critical support for our fellow firefighters at a time of need.”

Perkins and Andreozzi are throwback fighters who could fight in a proverbial phone boothproviding non-stop action in an entertaining, competitive encounter for a regional title.

Haudankaivaja läheisestä Lynnistä (MA), the 32-year-old Perkins was a solid hockey player at St. Mary’s High School in Lynn, who also had another intensive labor job working on a lobster boat. He is a strong, aggressive puncher who has successfully transitioned from the super middleweight division to light heavyweight.

Andreozzi, Swanseasta (MA), who is a former Massachusetts Middleweight Champion, has overcome a serious injury to become a title challenger. He broke his lower leg that resulted in 2 major surgeries that kept him sidelined for a full year. Andreozzi is back, hungry and ready for Perkins.

“Sometimes, promoottorina, you must get creative selling a fight, but this isn’t one of those,” Traietti added. “This fight sells itself. James and Tony are two guys who refuse to take a step backwards, for better or worse, coming forward and bringing non-stop pressure. Getting both guys to agree to fight was one of the easiest things I have done all year. They were chomping at the bit. This fight is a can’t miss regional main event.”

Kaksi Uuden-Englannin suosituimpia ja lupaavimpia tulevaisuudennäkymiä, Marshfield (MA) välisarjan nyrkkeilijäJames "The Slim Reaper" Perella (19-0, 13 KOs) and Everett (MA) junior välisarjan"Showtime" Shea Willcox (3-0, 3 KOs), antaa päätuen.

Perella, 32, had a celebrated amateur career (120-20), capturing 3 New England Golden Gloves -tittelit, in addition to a silver medal at the prestigious National PAL Tournament. He will face former FECARBOX Welterweight ChampionSaul "Navajo" Corral (31-24, 20 KOs) in an 8-round fight.

Willcox, 23, was a member of two Everett High’s Super Bowl, Jalkapallon ykkössarjan joukkueet. He was also selected as the “Most Outstanding Boxer” at last year’s New England Golden Gloves Championships, as well as a 2018 Rocky Marciano -turnauksen mestari. He will be in a 4-round match vs.Aldimar Silva (22-28, 14 KOs), Brasilian.

Traietti concluded, “On top of a great main event, SHEA WILLCOX IS COMING HOME! Getting Shea a fight in his home area was paramount this year. We plan to make it a recurring theme. He is a terrific talent with a loyal fan base that traveled twice to Bridgewater to support him. Now he is coming to the North Shore where he belongs, and the sky’s the limit.”

Additional matchups will soon be announced.

Älä. 1 rated WBA Super Flyweight John “Scrappy” Ramirez believes in the process

LOS ANGELES (Heinäkuu 2, 2025) -- It’s “Scrappy Time” again!

For the first time in 2025, charismatic super flyweight contenderJohn “Scrappy” Ramirez (15-1, 9 KOs) returned to the ring on last Saturday’s DAZN Pay-Per-View event, presented by MVP Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions, and headlined by YouTuber turned boxerJake “The Problem Child” Paul(12-1, 7 KOs) vastaanJulio Cesar Chavez, Jr. (54-7-1, 34 KOs) at Honda Center in Anaheim, Kalifornia.

Vuonna 8-kierroksen ottelu, “Scrappy” dominated Houston’sJosue Jesus Morales (33-19-5, 14 KOs), who was a very late replacement forSaleto Henderson (10-2, 7 KOs), enroute to an 8-round unanimous decision (80-72, 80-72, 89-73).

Henderson pulled out of the fight last Wednesday night, Morales accepted the fight Thursday evening after the event’s final press conference.

“I trusted the process,” Ramirez explained. “It was emotional when my original opponent pulled out of the fight so late and I didn’t know if I’d be fighting. I’m happy I got the fight, even if I had to open the show, because I’ve learned to embrace the opportunity. I trained to fight a 5’ 2”, righty and fought a southpaw. I was comfortable, regardless, because I prepare at camp for anything that may happen. I wanted the fight and gave him (Morales) two passes on weight. He was coming in heavy; joten, we agreed to fight at a 120-pound catchweight. Before he stepped on the scale, he said he weighed 121.6. I didn’t want him to be fined for coming in overweight because he was doing me a favor by taking the fight. I respect him for taking the fight on late notice and we changed the contract to 121.6. Nothing changed for me other than the opponent and opening the preliminaries. Time is money, and I wanted everything I had done to count like camp (expenses), resources I used, mileage on my body. Everything happens for a reason. There are six months left in 2025, and my goal is to have two more fights.”

The 29-year-old Ramirez is world rated at No. 1 vuonna WBA, sekä Ei. 12 ja o. 15, vastaavasti, mukaan World Boxing Council (WBC) and WBO.Fernando Daniel Martinez (16-0, 9 KOs), of Argentina, is the reigning WBA Super Flyweight World ChampionDavid Jimenez (17-1, 11 KOs) remains the WBA Interim Champion.

“I’m back where I left off (Älä. 1 sijoitus),” Ramirez said. “After my last fight I was No. 2, ‘Chocolatito’ (Roman Gonzalez) was on top. And before this coming fight, I wanted to go up to No. 1 ja sitten, a little while ago, I saw that I was back at No. 1. It’s a good feeling to have put myself back where I was. At this point, I have power and leverage. They may want me to fight a rematch with Jimenez, who is still the (WBA) Interim champion but we’ll see how everything plays out. If I get the opportunity to fight ‘Chocolatito’ or ‘Bam’ (WBC world championJessie Rodriguez), I’d do that if it makes sense.”

Fighting out of South Central Los Angeles, “Scrappy” hasn’t fought since last December 14th when he decisioned previously undefeatedEphraim Bui (10-0) mukaan tulokset 97-93 kolme kertaa. In Ramirez’ previous fight in April of 2024, “Scrappy” had suffered the lone loss of his pro career to Jimenez for the WBA Interim Super Flyweight crown.

“I’m hungry! I feel like I’ve been locked up in a cage. I’m happy to be back to the spot I had before.,” Ramirez continued. ”I’m ignoring distractions and continue to work on my craft and self-discipline. I know my opportunity (world title shot) will come. Even when I didn’t know who my opponent would be or even if I’d fight (lauantaina), I just let that go and kept training hard to keep improving.

“Everything is based on my confidence. Olen edelleen työharjoittelu. I like to compare it to when I played football, my level of confidence, because I knew what that was all about for me. I’ve gained that same level of experience in the ring, when to or when not to do something that I’ve learned through my experiences. Going back to December 14th, I was coming off my only loss eight months earlier, and it’s been six months since my last fight. I kept on the right path, and now I have my old football comfort and understanding. People compared me with fighters who’ve fought their whole lives, but I didn’t make my pro debut until December of 2020. I started late (nyrkkeily) and I’m still learning and figuring things out.”

Todellakin, ‘Scrappy’ has been an adaptive learner who resents being called by some as ahyped-up fighter, primarily because of his commitment and sacrifices he’s made to be the all-around fighter he has become.

“I know I have the skills to be world champion,” Ramirez concluded. “I like to fight and prove people wrong. I train to learn how to perform better. I’m in a great spot. I know I need to keep winning and that my opportunity will come. I’m only really thinking about this fight as I glimpse a little into my future.”

It’s “Scrappy Time” again and the dynamic super flyweight is closing in on his world title.

ANGEL FIERRO: “I HAVE NO RESPECT FOR PITBULL CRUZ. HE DOESN’T INTIMIDATE ME & HE’S AN ORDINARY FIGHTER!" – Fierro Talks Training With Robert Garcia & More Ahead of Cruz Rematch on Saturday, Heinäkuu 19

Hard-Hitting Fierro Talks Training with Robert Garcia & Previews Mexico vs. Mexico Rematch Against Former World Champion Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz onLauantai, Heinäkuu 19 on PBC Pay-Per-View Event on Prime Video from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas

RIVERSIDE, KUTEN. – July 1, 2025 -Hard-hitting Mexican contenderAngel “Tashiro” Fierrosent a direct message to his compatriot and rivalIsaac “Pitbull” Cruzduring a tense face-to-face at the Los Angeles press conference in June to announce their rematch, and has continued to express his ire toward Cruz as we near their showdown on Saturday, Heinäkuu 19 as part of a PBC Pay-Per-View event on Prime Video from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

“When I say something to him, like I did at that press conference, I follow through,” said Fierro. “I promised I would show him that I’m elite and this fight will be more of the same. I have no respect for ‘Pitbull’ Cruz. He doesn’t intimidate me and he’s an ordinary fighter. He’s a human and he gets tired too. I stayed true to myself when I told him I’m coming for war.”

The biggest change for Fierro since the first showdown is the addition of famed trainer Robert Garcia, who has led his training camp and will do the same for his corner on July 19. By joining forces with Garcia, Fierro believes he’s unlocked a better version of himself that he’ll display in the rematch.

“It’s been a tough camp,” said Fierro. “I’ve never trained with this much intensity before. Robert Garcia and the whole team has been excellent. We’ve made changes to my sparring sessions and I believe we’re going to deliver a great result.

“I’ve gone through changes physically, mentally and nutritionally. It’s going to make me formidable. I’m in the best shape of my life and my diet is on point. I’m not worried about making weight and that’s how an elite fighter should come into a fight.”

The Tijuana-native’s first fight against Cruz was a tale of two halves, as Cruz controlled the early rounds before Fierro appeared to turn the tide, out landing his opponent 132 kohteeseen 106 across the final five frames. While he believes he’ll be even better on July 19, Fierro is confident that he proved his elite status in the first fight, even if Cruz doesn’t.

“I’ve worked on myself and correcting the mistakes I made in the first fight that would have changed the outcome,” said Fierro. “Robert Garcia is very experienced and I watched the fight with him to work on what I need to do to win this time.

“I didn’t keep my hands up 100% of the time like I needed to. That was the main mistake at the time. ‘Pitbull’ underestimated me – and still does- but I already showed him that I’m not middling fighter. I proved I’m elite and now I’m working twice as hard.”

In addition to showing Cruz his level, Fierro believes that he took advantage of the big stage in February on the undercard of David Benavidez vs. David Morrell Jr. to show the Mexican people that he was a true contender. With that extra motivation, he’s promised to show that he will be the next big star to take off from the boxing-rich country.

“At the beginning of the fight, people looked at me like I was a nobody,” said Fierro. “But by the halfway point, I felt a shift, and people were already seeing me as a big-time fighter. I felt like Rocky in Russia! I proved that I’m not just a talker. I’m a true Mexican…We’re two Mexicans with pride on the line and looking to show who the next great Mexican boxing star will be. I’m fighting to bring honor to my country.”

Having already delivered a fight that’s garnering early Fight of the Year consideration, Fierro has promised to deliver even more action the second time around, and perhaps bring back memories of Fierro’s personal favorite all-Mexican rematch Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Erik Morales II.

“You’re going to see a different ‘Tashiro’ and it’s going to be an even better war than the first one,” said Fierro. “The fans will be on their feet from the very first round. I will beat ‘Pitbull’ – no matter what. He better prepare well and I think he will, because deep down he knows what he’s up against.”

Reminder: Undefeated Russian super middleweight Petr “The Surgeon” Khamukov to headline This Friday in Long Beach on DAZN

LOS ANGELES (Kesäkuu 16, 2025) - Often avoided Russian super middleweight Petr “The Surgeon” Khamukov (13-0, 6 KOs) will headline “LA Friday Night Fights”, presented by Paco Presents and Golden Boy Promotions, against David “Dynamite” Stevens (14-2, 10 KOs) this week in Long Beach, Kalifornia.

Khamukov faces Stevens, who was a standout amateur boxer out of Pennsylvania, 10-kierroksen päätapahtuma. “LA Friday Night Fights” will be streamed live this Friday on DAZN from Thunder Studios.

A promotional free agent who now resides in Woodland Hills (KUTEN), Khamukov had 350 amateur matches, represented Russia in the 2016 Olympialaiset, and he was the only Russian to qualify for the same Olympics in two weights classes (middleweight and light heavyweight). He captured gold medals at the 2015 European Championships and 2016 Russian National Championships.

Khamukov, 33, is excited to be fighting again, never mind headlining, because he has had a difficult time securing fights prior to recently signing a managerial contract with 3 Point Management (3 Pääministeri). Khamukov’s last fight was 13 kuukausia sitten, when he knocked out Esau Herrera de la Cruz (21-16-1) kolmannella kierroksella.

“It was a real challenge, sekä fyysisesti että henkisesti,” Khamukov spoke about his absence from the ring. “As they say, the darkest night is followed by the brightest dawn. That time away helped me reset, reflect, and come back even stronger. Sometimes those moments are necessary to build true resilience. You have to ask fighters why they have avoided me. I’ve always been ready to fight but they weren’t. Maybe the risk just didn’t justify the reward? Fear of losing can be a powerful force. Let them run, I’m not chasing anyone. I’m focused on my own path.

“It’s a huge honor and a big responsibility to be headlining this Friday night in Long Beach. A main event, worthy opponent, and a team that’s worked incredibly hard to get us here. Now it’s time to do what I do best: step into the ring and prove myself. Fighting on DAZN is a launchpad to a whole new level. Millions of eyes, a bigger stage and new doors that could open for me after a strong performance. One thing will stay the same: moving forward with dignity and respect for the sport, my opponent and myself.”

In his most recent fight last November in Las Vegas, the 24-year-old Stevens lost a 12-round split decision to Bektemir Melikuziev (14-1, 10 KOs). Stevens’ most impressive performance to date was an 8-round stoppage of then 14-0 Sean Hemphill in 2023.

“My opponent is a strong, experienced fighter, ei ole epäilystäkään,” Khamukov said. “I respect that, but I didn’t just start boxing yesterday, jompikumpi. I’ve prepared thoroughly – physically, henkisesti, tactically. The rest will be shown in the ring. En puhu paljon, Tahdon, and that’s what professionalism is about.

“The biggest change in training camp has been volume. We’ve increased endurance work and focused on managing pace and energy. At my core, I’m still the same…. aggressiivinen, technical, and hungry for victory.

Khamukov is the latest member of 3 Point Management’ (3 Pääministeri) stable of gifted boxers including WBA & WBO Cruiserweight World Champion/Ring Magazine No. 1 rated Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (47-1, 30 KOs), former WBC World Light Heavyweight Champion/WBC No. 3 rated Oleksandr “Nails” Gvozdyk (20-2, 16 KOs), world super flyweight title challenger/WBO No. 1 rated John “Scrappy” Ramirez (14-1, 9 KOs), WBA #6 rated super middleweight Darius “DFG” Fulgham (14-1, 12 KOs), former WBA Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight Champion Kareem “Supreme” Hackett (12-1, 6 KOs) and German junior welterweight Simon “Saucy” Vollmer (7-0, 3 KOs).
