FIGHTERS HOPE TO SETTLE THEIR DIFFERENCES IN THE CAGE AT NEF 22

El día de hoy, NEF announced the addition of a professional lightweight contest to the MMA portion of the “NEF 22” cartelera.

Lewiston’s Matt Denning is coming off the first loss of his professional career this past November against Jon Lemke (5-4). Prior to that defeat, Denning was riding a four-fight win streak, all four of those wins coming by way of submission. Es miembro de la Central Maine Jiu-Jitsu brasileño (CMBJJ). Denning acknowledges personal issues have existed in the past between he and Harvey, culminating in a cageside confrontation between the two athletes at the close of “NEF XV” en el otoño de 2014.

I’m honored to have been asked specifically for this fight,” dijo Denning. “Josh is the 155 ammy champ and is an amazing fighter. I’m excited to watch him continue his career as a pro and move up to the top of the professional rankings. We had some personal issues between the two of us because of a poor decision I made, and I hope with us fighting it will clear the air and I’ll be able to cross train with him and Young’s MMA. We gotta give the fans what they want and this is what they wanted. I look forward to seeing everyone April 23rd.

The bout will indeed be the professional debut for Harvey after an amateur career in which he went 5-1. He is the reigning NEF MMA Amateur Lightweight Champion, a title which he will now vacate as a professional. Harvey capped off his amateur stint with a highlight reel knockout over Ryan Dibartolomeo (4-4), a victory that solidified his position as the northeast region’s top-ranked amateur lightweight. Harvey is a member of Young’s MMA in Bangor, Maine. He recently signed a long-term NEF developmental deal.

I’m feeling blessed to be a signed professional cage fighter,” dijo Harvey. “I’m one step closer to my goal and 23 de de abril de I’ll take another. I’ve wanted a chance to fight ‘Ken Dollever since I met himhe is just one of those guys. I’m thankful for the opportunity.

One thing is very clear in this matchup – Josh and Matt don’t like each other,” stated NEF matchmaker and co-owner Matt Peterson. “There is some deep, pent-up frustration that has been percolating between these two for a long timeand on April 23rd, the cork comes out. It’s going to be spectacular.

GLOVER AND WILLIAMS TO FACE OFF FOR NEF GOLD

The fight card is scheduled to feature both mixed martial arts (MMA) y los combates de boxeo profesional. El día de hoy, the promotion announced the addition of an amateur light heavyweight championship bout to the card. Ryan Glover (2-1) will face Mike Williams (1-0) for the inaugural NEF amateur 205-pound title.

Antes de competir en MMA, Ryan Glover was a standout dual sport athlete at Mountain Valley High School in Rumford, Maine. A state champion wrestler, Glover made his biggest mark on the football field where he was named the “Football Player of the Year” by the Lewiston Sun Journal in 2010.

El año pasado, Glover faced Billy “Bigfoot” Leahy (3-1) for the NEF amateur heavyweight championship. Glover lost a close decision in an exciting, hard-hitting physical contest. Ahora, faster and more agile at a lower weight, Glover has his sights set on finally achieving NEF gold.

“The weight cut has not been fun, but has gone easier than expected,” stated Glover, when asked about his cut down to 205-pounds. “I feel a lot better as I approach 205 and I think I’ll like fighting at this weight. It’s going to be bittersweet to hold the belt at 205. I lost a close slugfest last June simply because I didn’t stick to our game plan. I dropped the ball that night and you can rest assured that’s not going to happen again. I hope Williams has been training as hard as I have, porque, if so, it’s going to be a fight that no one wants to miss. I’ll see you February 6th and don’t be late—this is a show worth traveling 1000 miles for.”

Mike Williams took a collective gasp out of the Androscoggin Bank Colisee when he came out guns blazing in his debut at “NEF XX: A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE” last November. Williams, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) blue belt and member of Central Maine Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (CMBJJ) en Auburn, blasted fellow newcomer Joe Krech (0-1) out of the gate before securing a fight-ending armbar in a spectacular 26-seconds into the first round. The dizzying debut was enough to earn the impressive young Williams a shot at NEF gold.

“This fight is just another step and he’s in the way,” stated Williams flatly when asked for comment.

“This is another Easter egg of a fight on a star-studded card that is destined to deliver for the whole night,"NEF copropietario y casamentero declarado Matt Peterson. “When I look at this fight and the skill sets that both Ryan and Mike bring to the cage, I get goose bumps. Both are athletic, agresivo, young and hungry guys that want to turn heads when they compete—and will stop at nothing to win. Based on what I’ve witnessed in their fights so far, I don’t see an ounce of quit in either fighter. I can’t wait to watch the way this one goes down on Saturday.”

próximo evento de Nueva Inglaterra Combates ', "NEF 21: LOS INMORTALES,” takes place Saturday, Febrero 6, 2016 en el Androscoggin Banco Coliseo en Lewiston, Maine. Tickets for “NEF 21” start at just $25 y están a la venta en www.TheColisee.com o llamando a la taquilla en Colisée207.783.2009 x 525. A pair of professional boxing bouts will be featured on the main card of the evening. Joel “Baby Bull” Obispo (0-0-1) returns to action after more than a year’s absence to face MMA regular Crowsneck Boutin (0-0) in a light-heavyweight four-round bout. Welter junior noreste Brandon “El Cañón” Berry (10-1) will attempt to make it three wins in a row when he steps in the ring to face undefeated Tollison Lewis (2-0) en una ronda de seis, sin título, super-welterweight contest. Both Berry and Lewis are coming off wins in the boxing ring at “NEF XX” en noviembre pasado.

The professional portion of the MMA card will be headlined by the long-awaited meeting between Bruce “Pretty Boy” Boyington (12-8) y Jon Lemke (5-3). DubbedThe Battle for Bangor,” with both men living and training in the Bangor, Maine area, Boyington’s NEF MMA Professional Lightweight Title will be on the line. Number-one contender Lemke will be looking to capture the first championship of his MMA career.

The co-main event of the evening on the professional MMA card will see local Lewiston-Auburn favorite Jesse “El Vikingo” Erickson (6-4) teniendo en Devin Powell (4-1) in a lightweight matchup. Powell returns to the NEF cage for the first time since May 2014, while Erickson will be looking for his fourth consecutive win in Lewiston.

A total of three title fights will headline the amateur MMA side of the card. Young’s MMA standout Josh Harvey (5-1) defends his lightweight title against Florida’s Andrés “Ling-Ling” Tamayo (8-1). Adicionalmente, Erin Lamonte (5-0) y Randi Bet Boyington (1-2) are scheduled to face off in a women’s MMA bout.

He is confident in his abilities and predicts victory over Ewer when they meet this weekend. While Lachance’s future in the sport appears brighter every day, jura no pasar por alto la tarea en cuestión y dejó que su fe cristiana le guía a través de su carrera.

“Voy a vencer a CJ de cualquier manera posible,” dijo Lachance. “MMA is a sport where anything can happen. I am fully prepared for whatever may come on the 21st. I will focus on my next opponent when this fight is out of my way. No voy a pasar por alto mi oponente. Dios va a configurar el futuro para mí, como lo ha hecho hasta el momento.”

Lachance credits his faith and the sport of MMA with helping him conquer his much-publicized addiction to heroin. He began training over two years ago at MMA Athletix in Bath, Maine, donde también se unió a la Iglesia el ministerio de la victoria de del gimnasio entonces propietario Ryan Cowette (2-3).

“Fui bendecido con una gran oportunidad, and I couldn’t be more grateful. The fight game is the highest of highs and lowest of lows. Los momentos más definitorios de mi corta carrera no han llegado desde el interior de la jaula, sino de aprender y crecer día a día como hombre y como un luchador.”

Recientemente, Lachance y su compañero Norman Fox (4-2) purchased the MMA Athletix gym from Cowette after Cowette decided to redirect his focus to his roofing business.

“Tuvimos que sentarse y evaluar realmente lo que queríamos salir de nuestras carreras, and also out of our business. We quickly realized that with full time jobs, no tenemos tiempo para ser entrenadores, entrenadores, fighters and business owners and still expect to succeed. We prayed on it and God sent us the perfect team of coaches and trainers, junto con un nuevo grupo de combatientes y que viene.

“MMA ya ha cambiado mi vida de muchas maneras. Espero que llevarlo a la cima, como propietario de un negocio y como un luchador. Dios me ha dado la oportunidad de vivir mi sueño, día tras día.”

Luchas de Nueva Inglaterra’ próximo evento, “NEF XX: Una historia de violencia,” tiene lugar este sábado, Noviembre 21, 2015 en el Androscoggin Banco Coliseo en Lewiston, Maine.
