CORAPI OUT, LOCKARD IN AGAINST ERICKSON; FIGHT NOW FOR LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE AT NEF 39

ZUR SOFORTIGEN VERÖFFENTLICHUNG: Lewiston, Maine (Juni 4, 2019) - New England Fights (NEF) kehrt am Samstag zum Androscoggin Bank Colisee zurück, Juni 22 with its next mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 39: ALL-AMERICAN.” Bereits heute Morgen, the fight promotion announced that Jesse “The Viking” Erickson (9-7) treffen Dylan Lockard (5-1) for the vacant NEF Professional Lightweight Championship. Erickson says he will be patient in this bout in hopes of winning the title that has eluded him to date.

Lockard will definitely be entering hostile territory with hundreds of Erickson’s hometown friends, family and fans in the crowd. The fight will take place ten pounds heavier than the featherweight limit Lockard usually competes at.

Everything about Lockard’s background, jedoch, indicates that he rises to meet any challenge. In 2010 he won a state championship at 152 pounds wrestling for Timberlane Regional High School in Plaistow, New Hampshire, finishing his senior season with an impressive 38-9 record. He began his amateur MMA career in 2014 and went a perfect 4-0, defeating some of the best the region has to offer including Harvey and Hall. Lockard turned pro in the summer of 2016. His only loss to date has been against a very tough Shane Manley (5-5), who longtime NEF fans will remember as the athlete who handed both Jesse Erickson and Ray Wood (8-5) the first losses of their respective MMA careers. Lockard is currently on a two-fight win streak since the loss to Manley, most-recently upending previously-undefeated Anthony Wright (4-1) on a fight card in Rhode Island last fall.

“I’m excited to come up to Maine and fight for the NEF title,” said Lockard when reached for comment. “Jesse is a really tough opponent, and I think we match up well. It’s going to be an exciting fight for the fans.”

LAS VEGAS (Juni 3, 2019) – Super-Weltmeister im Weltergewicht Tony Harrison injured his ankle in training last week and has withdrawn from his title defense against former world champion Jermell Charlo that was scheduled to headline FOX PBC Fight Night on FOX and FOX Deportes Sunday, Juni 23 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Harrison has an inner and outer ankle sprain with torn ligaments in his right ankle and he will be out for 10 weeks before he can resume training. Harrison and Charlo plan to have their rematch later this year.

Stepping in to replace Harrison for a 12-round fight is the always dangerousJorge Cota (28-3, 25 KOs), who most recently lost a disputed split-decision in April on FS1 against Jeison Rosario. The 31-year old from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico had scored three straight knockout victories before the defeat in April.

“Watching my Mexican brother Andy Ruiz fight last weekend, I am very motivated,” said Cota. “I saw how he got an unexpected chance to become a champion and surprise the world. He has inspired me to win this fight in the same way. I will shock the world on June 23 just like Andy did on Saturday, for Mexico, the country that I love. This is the most important fight of my career.”

“As we have seen from Andy Ruiz’s incredible upset of Anthony Joshua in the heavyweight championship fight on Saturday night, replacement fighters are not to be taken as a joke,” sagte Tom Brown, Präsident von TGB Promotions. “Jorge Cota is a dangerous fighter. He has heavy hands and he’s looking for an opportunity to make a statement. Jermell Charlo realizes just how serious this is and he wants to get his title back. Harrison’s injury is the latest twist in the super welterweight division that started last December when Harrison and Charlo’s first encounter took place live on FOX. Harrison won the decision to upset Charlo and take away the title. The close nature of the bout helped warrant an immediate rematch that promises to be just as highly charged and dramatic. Julianisch “J-Rock” Williams scored a hard-fought unanimous decision over Jarrett Hurd as the IBF and WBA titles changed hands as well in May.

This setback for Harrison, who is from Detroit and was trained early in his career by the late Emanuel Steward, is another challenge for the 28-year-old champion. Harrison was on track for a title shot before suffering the first loss of his career in 2015 to Willie Nelson. After three-straight wins, he earned a shot at the vacant 154-pound title against Jarrett Hurd. Although Harrison had strong moments in the fight, he eventually lost to Hurd and was forced to again climb to the top. After another three victories, including a win over former champion Ishe Smith, Harrison took advantage of his second world title opportunity against Charlo.

The 25-year-old Franklin (18-0, 13 KOs), from Saginaw, Mich., is a former amateur standout and a 2014 Nationaler Champion der Goldenen Handschuhe. Forrest (25-2, 19 KOs), von Newport News, Va., has won eighteen consecutive bouts since dropping back-to-back contests to world title challenger Gerald Washington and Michael Hunter, whose only professional loss came to former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. Forrest, a 6-foot-1 southpaw, scored an eight-round unanimous decision over Joshua Tufte his last time out in April.

“This is a long time coming for me,” said Forrest. “My record and my potential are definitely worthy to fight in the main event on national television. This is where I should be. I’m very comfortable and I’m not at all overwhelmed. I’ve fought in the Nationals and big tournaments and I’m not afraid of the spotlight. Franklin throws a lot of punches and tries to bully you out. He’s not super accurate from what I see. He’s a heavyweight who will try to outwork you. I see him as a very similar fighter to Andy Ruiz. My training is going great, I haven’t been out of shape in two years. I’ve been in the gym grinding and doing it old school.”

Wallin (20-0, 13 KOs, 1 ND) machte seine US-. debut on SHOWTIME in April, also on the undercard of Shields-Hammer, but his fight with Nick Kisner was cut short after an accidental headbutt left Kisner unable to continue, resulting in a No Decision. “My U.S. debut did not go the way I had hoped and I didn’t get a chance to show off my skills,” said Wallin. “I’m really looking forward to going out there again getting a chance to show a lot more. This is a fight I need to win if I want to go somewhere. I need to win and I need to look good doing it. I need to be sharp at all times and not take anything for granted. This is a sport where everything can change in the blink of an eye.”

**MATAMOROS, MEXIKO (Mai 30, 2019)** – **Prince Ranch Boxen** 18-year-old featherweight sensation, **Ricky Medina** (3-0 2KOs) von San Antonio, Texas, will return to the ring this Friday for his fourth professional bout at The Casa Ahida Cafeteria Gourmet in Heroica Matamoros, Mexiko.

USA Boxing standout bantamweight Duke Ragan fighting for his daughter’s future

COLORADO SPRINGS, Runde. (Mai 29, 2019) – Boxers fight for a variety of reasons. Team USA bantamweight Duke Ragan is driven in the gym and ring by his two-year-old daughter, **Kennedy Ragan**.

The 21-year-old Ragan trains with his fellow elite squad members in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which is a long way from his home and daughter in Cincinnati.

“It is difficult being away from her,” Ragan admitted, “but she motivates me. I’m boxing for our future.”

Ragan’s future in boxing is bright. Er ist der Nr. 1 bantamweight in the United States, who plans to cash-out after the 2020 Olympics in Japan.

Although he had his first amateur match when he was seven, Ragan was practically born to box, evident by pictures of him as an infant wearing baby boxing gloves. When Duke’s older brother by six years, **Lewis Walker**, trained at their uncle **Sean Singleton**‘s gym, young Duke was being trained in the house by his father.

“I played other sports when I was young, but I didn’t in high school,” Ragan said. “My father started training me when I was six and a year later, I was at the gym training and sparring. I didn’t want to play any sports other than boxing.”

Ragan has a 151-19 Amateur-Rekord, highlighted by his silver-medal performance at the 2017 Weltmeisterschaft. He captured gold at the 2016 & 2018 Elite National Championships, qualifying him for the 2020 Olympic Trials for Boxing, as well as at the 2016 National Golden Gloves Championships.

In addition to winning a silver medal at the 2017 Weltmeisterschaft, Ragan has been successful in other International competition, Top-Ehrungen bei der 2017 Chemie Cup, runner-up at the 2018 Presidents Cup, and third place finishes in the 2017 Continental Championships and 2019 Pan American Qualifier in Nicaragua. Ragan is looking forward to avenging his controversial loss to Caicedo at the Pan-American Games. “I was the No. 1 seed at the Pan American Qualifier, and I think I’ll be the No. 1 seed at the Pan American Games,” Ragan commented. “I think I got a bad decision in the semifinals. There will be some good competition at the Pan American Games, but nobody for me to worry about.”

Self-described as a pure boxer who enjoys moving around the ring snapping jabs, Ragan also has sufficient power to put opponents to sleep. He wants to become part of Cincinnati’s rich boxing history, which has produced all-time greats such as **Aaron Pryor**,**Ezzard Charles**, **Adrian Broner**, **Rau'shee Warren** und **Tim Austin**, ua.

“Pryor and Charles boxed in the same community where I grew up,” Ragan noted. “I really haven’t done anything yet, but it would be cool to be world champion like them.”

USA Boxing has played a major role in Ragan’s young life and, if he gets his wish, it’ll continue to be for at least another year or so. “My main focus is 2020, I’ll worry about turning pro after that,” he remarked. “Amateur boxing has brought me a long way. I’m more disciplined, better focused, and a much smarter boxer. I have a higher boxing IQ. I’ve also had to learn to make sacrifices, because I’ve got to be a man to make time for my young daughter. All of this is getting me ready to be a professional.

Ragan has traveled around the world as a Team USA boxer having been to Germany and Kazakhstan (twice apiece), Polen, Bulgaria and Nicaragua. Letztlich, Duke Ragan wants to continue representing his country and traveling all over the world, hoffnungsvoll, booking a trip to Tokyo next year.

ZUR SOFORTIGEN VERÖFFENTLICHUNG: Lewiston, Maine (Mai 29, 2019) - New England Fights (NEF) kehrt am Samstag zum Androscoggin Bank Colisee zurück, Juni 22 with its next mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 39: ALL-AMERICAN.” Bereits heute Morgen, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur women’s bantamweight bout to the card. Megan Rosado soll gegen Sarai Knapp bei einem Kampf Gewicht von 135 Pfund-.

Megan Rosado is currently an even 1-1 since debuting in the NEF cage late last year. She took on Glory Watson at “NEF 36” in September and went the distance in a back-and-forth, thrilling contest. Watson was able to pull out a split decision on the judges’ scorecards to take the victory. Rosado returned last month at “NEF 38” in Portland, Maine to face Amanda Bennett (0-2). Schon Wieder, the fight went to the judges’ Scorecards, but this time it was Rosado walking out of the cage with the win. She represents Nate Libby’s Evolution Athletix based in Saco, Maine.

“I’m super excited to step back into the cage for my third amateur fight,” sagte Rosado. “It’s safe to say that I’m addicted to the whole fight experience! I may not have a squeaky clean undefeated record, but getting a taste of a loss and a win is what makes you more dangerous, meiner Meinung nach. Sarai Knapp will be making her amateur MMA debut at “NEF 39” on June 22nd. She will make the 1,000-mile trip from her home state of Indiana to compete against Rosado. Knapp represents Lee Brothers MMA based in Fort Wayne.

“Training mixed martial arts has changed my life,” remarked Knapp. “I’m just excited to challenge myself against a tough opponent like Megan. My coach tells me that everybody from Nate Libby’s gym is tough, so we’re getting ready for a fight.”

The bout between Rosado and Knapp is the second women’s fight announced for the “NEF 39” card. Also on the amateur card that night, Ruhm Watson (4-0) will meet Caree Hill (4-1) for the vacant women’s flyweight championship.
