Undefeated Ruben Villa weighs in for Tonight’s battle with Miguel Carrizoza

Reyes stops Garces; Silva batters Forero at “Night of Champions” in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, FL (Oktyabr 11, 2018) – Welterweight Mark Reyes Jr. Captured the ABF Continental Americas title with a third round stoppage of Mexico’s Juan Garces Saturday, Oktyabr 6.

 

 

 

“Night of Champions” was promoted by Fire Fist Boxing Promotions and the 11 bout card took place in front of a standing room only crowd at The Coliseum in St. Petersburg, FL.

 

 

 

The card was broadcast live on Fite.TV and featured ringside commentary from Fire Fist Boxing Promotions’ very own Connor “The Kid” Coyle.

 

 

 

With a large group of supporters on hand, Reyes got off to a fast start and buzzed Garces with a hard right cross in the opening stanza. The popular 22-year-old Tampa native had a clear speed advantage and was able to consistently beat Garces to the punch in the second, though Garces did land a few good shots.

 

 

 

At the beginning of round three, Reyes threw a body shot that accidentally landed on Garces’ inner thigh. Garces immediately crashed to the canvas and appeared to be in significant pain. After an extended delay, Graces couldn’t continue and Reyes was awarded a TKO victory.

 

 

 

“It was an accidental low blow but I hit him on the thigh,” Reyes said following the victory. “I hurt him to the body in the second and he tried to use this as an opportunity to quit because he didn’t want to fight.”

 

 

 

Reyes dedicated his victory to the Children’s Cancer Center of Tampa. Team Reyes raised funds for the Children’s Cancer Center by donating all proceeds from fight night merchandise sales.

 

 

 

Reyes is now 8-0 ilə 6 KO’s while Garces slips to 28-22 (18 KO-nin).

 

 

 

Lightweight contender Willian “Babyface” Silva of Plant City, FL by way of Brazil became the ABF Continental Lightweight champion by dominating game Panamanian Jose Forero en-route to a 9ci round stoppage. Bantamweights Avril Mathie of Miami Beach, FL by way of Australia and Dallas, TX’s Samantha Salazar battled to a thrilling six round draw in a match up for theWomen’s ABF Continental Americas 118 funt adı. In what was without question the fight of the night, Mathie and Salazar fearlessly exchanged punches throughout the contest. After the final bell, both women were met with a round of applause.

CHICAGO, IL., (Oktyabr 11, 2018) – Junior Welterweight Kenneth Sims, Jr. will be back in action this Saturday night when he takes on Andrew Rodgers in a six-round bout at The McBride Hall in Gary, Indiana.

 

 

 

Sims of nearby Chicago will be back in the ring for the first time since taking an eight-round split decision over previously undefeated Montana Love on July 20th in a bout that was nationally televised on ShoBox: Showtime New Generation.

 

 

 

Sims (12-1-1, 4 Kos) has been working in Houston, Texas with some top-notch sparring partners, which will help him go forward in his career.

This card will also showcase a 185-pound battle between UFC and Bellator veteran Kendall Grove and former University of Alabama linebacker Marcel Stamps, who is undefeated in both MMA and bare knuckle fighting, daha Joe Riggs, who has a lengthy resume with the UFC, meeting MMA veteran Brok Weaver in a 185-pound showdown.

 

 

 

The lightweight tournament features two fighters returning to the BKFC as Ohio’s Bedford and Virginia’s Barnett look to build on the experience they gained from victories on BKFC 1. A veteran of UFC, Bellator and the Ultimate Fighter series, Bedford is set to take on Missouri’s Murphy, who has 16 professional MMA fights under his belt, including a Bellator victory in 2016. Barnett brings a 6-1 professional boxing record, in addition to six professional MMA fights, into the ring against Philadelphia’s Rivera, who has fought in 11 professional boxing matches in his career.

 

 

 

Fighting out of Amelia, Ohio, Pegg owns six professional MMA victories in 11 contests and will matchup against the 28-year-old Crowder, who fights out of Carrollton, Georgia throughout a professional MMA career that spans 14 fights dating back to 2013. Rounding out the exciting lightweight tournament matchups is the 25-year-old Velazquez, who fights out of New Port Richey, Florida and has a 9-6 professional MMA record, as he takes on Davenport, Iowa’s West. The 29-year-old West has compiled a 15-10 record in professional MMA contests since turning pro in 2010.

Andrey Fedosov battles Joey Dawejko this Saturday in Ekaterinburg, Rusiya

Desmond “Predator” Yaşıl (21-8), also currently on the UFC roster, signed with Bellator just days after winning the NEF lightweight belt in 2013. And Bruce “Pretty Boy” Boyington (16-11), another of the NEF 155-pound titleholders, went on to compete nationally for the World Series of Fighting.

Despite holding such a prestigious regional championship, the fight opportunities at lightweight for Ryan Sanders have been few and far between. To say it has been frustrating for him and his coaches at Young’s MMA would be a major understatement. Sanders has called out virtually every top 155-pound competitor in the New England region, but none have been brave enough to step in the cage with him. Even the casual observer cannot really blame them. Sanders literally tore current Glory Kickboxing signee Vince McGuiness’ (5-8) arm out of its socket earlier this year at “NEF 34” and then followed-up that performance with a dominant submission win over Mando Montoya (10-7) at “NEF 35” Ötən ay.

“I was sitting around, eating my feelings because I was convinced that there was no one that would fight me,” said Sanders. “Lakin (NEF owners) Nick (DiSalvo) and Matt (Peterson) went out of New England where I assume there are less cowards and found a quality opponent in Jacob. Jacob Bohn, based out of Waterville, New York, is coming off two big wins in lightweight bouts earlier this year. He defeated longtime veteran Kenny Foster (12-13) via split decision on a card in Long Island, New York. Bohn went on to submit Lewis Corapi (8-4) in the first round of a bout in Rhode Island this past summer.

“I’m excited to visit Maine and can’t wait to make my NEF debut against Ryan Sanders for the lightweight belt,” stated Bohn when reached for comment. “I only take fights that I think will take me to the next level, and Sanders looks like a game opponent.
