WBO News: Another Successful Boxing Officials’ Seminar Was Held In Chicago

The World Boxing Organization and the Illinois State Athletic Commission concluded a successful training seminar for boxing officials at the Garfield Park – Golden Dome, Chicago, Illinois.

 

 

 

This event covered different topics, such as refereeing, yargılamak, rules, and ethics; the seminar followed an interactive format with the purpose of giving ring officials the necessary knowledge, confidence and experience to execute good judgement of a boxing match.

 

 

 

John Duggan, First Vice-President of the WBO, stated that some of the objectives of these events are to “improve the quality of officiating” and he highlighted the importance of cross training ring officials in order to ensure the correct decisions are made during a boxing match, “correct officiating is important to ensure the right and deserving winner is named in a fight”.

 

 

 

Bu arada, referee Celestino Ruiz and former referee Gino Rodriguez conducted the referees’ training and stressed out the importance of taking control from the moment instructions are given in the locker room; the necessity of having proper knowledge of the rules and being correctly positioned during a fight.

 

 

 

Ethics and professionalism were also covered, as fundamental aspects in the development of a career as a boxing official.

 

 

 

Videos were used to exemplify, analyze and break down different decisions during a boxing match, this is important to help participants understand some of the scenarios they may have to face, it offers them the possibility to clarify doubts while at the same time put their knowledge to test.

 

 

 

The WBO values these opportunities to contribute with the training of boxing officials and help them attain mastery of their skills.

WBO News – Headline Matches For This Week

Dünya Boks Organizasyonu (WBO) will oversee four major fights this week around the world, including a world championship bout.

 

 

 

Starting on Thursday, Haziran 14 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japonya, seventh ranked Hiroaki Teshigawara (16-2-2, 9 KOs), Tokyo, will defend his WBO Asia-Pacific Bantamweight title against the two-time world title challenger Teiru Kinoshita (26-2-1, 9 KOs), Kobe'nin.

 

 

 

In the same card, 12th ranked Ryuichi Funai (29-7, 20 KOs), Tokyo, will face former world champion Warlito Parrenas (26-7-1, 23 KOs), from Philippines, for the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific Jr. Bantamweight belt. Both fights are scheduled for 12 round as part of a event promoted by Dangan Boxing.

WBO: Officials Named for Title Bout Between World Champion Ángel Acosta and Carlos Buitrago

Dünya Boks Organizasyonu (WBO) announced the officials for this Saturday, Haziran 16, clash between WBO Jr. Flyweight Champion, Angel ‘Tito’ Acosta, Porto Riko, and ranked No. 10 by this sanctioning body Carlos ‘Chocorroncito’ Buitrago, from Nicaragua, zamanlanmış içinde 12 rounds bout.

 

 

 

The world title match will take place at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan as the main event of a boxing evening presented by the Cotto Promotions. The Puerto Rican Luis Pabón will be the referee of the clash. Pabón is a veteran of over 400 professional boxing fights, dahil 168 world titles bouts.

 

 

 

The Coliseo de Puerto Rico, was the scene of Miguel Cotto’s first world championship, when the today’s promoter was crowned WBO Jr. Welterwweight Champion on September 11, 2004 after defeating Kelson Pinto, Brezilya'nın, by technical knockout in the sixth round.

WBO News – Headline Matches For This Weekend

Dünya Boks Organizasyonu (WBO) will oversee seven headline bouts around the world this weekend, two of which are for world titles.

 

 

 

Starting Friday, Haziran 8, Verona, New York, WBO number one ranked Junior Featherweight Diego De La Hoya (20-0, 9 KOs) will defend his NABO 122 lbs title against José “Şeker” Salgado (35-4-2, 28 KOs) in a 10-round duel. The bout is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and will go on stage at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in the aforementioned city.

 

 

 

The fight will be televised live on ESPN3, başlayan 9:00 um. (Doğu Saati). ESPN2 will air the fights at 12:30 a.m. ET / 9:30 um. PT. and ESPN Deportes will air the fights the following day at 9:00 um. VE / 6:00 um. PT.

 

 

 

De La Hoya-Salgado will take place during the International Boxing Hall of Fame induction weekend, where “Dr. Ironfist” Vitali Klitschko, Erik “El Terrible” Moráles, and Ronald “Winky” Wright will be exalted, along with other important boxing figures such as Peter Kohl, Steve Albert, Jim Gray and Lorraine Chargin.

 

 

 

Cumartesi Günü, Haziran 9 Arjantin, Facundo Galovar (10-2-1, 7 KOs), of Tucumán, and Rolando Mansilla (13-5-1, 5 KOs), of Entre Ríos, will face off for the vacant WBO Latino Super Middleweight belt in a scheduled 10 yuvarlak dersin. I’m not sure what Tito Acosta will bring into the ring June 16. I don’t think Tito Acosta is going to learn the necessary moves and techniques in a month. He is a raw boxer who relies only on the strength of his blows. I don’t believe that he will bring anything new into the ring and if they change him, the only thing that will accomplish is confuse him. I’m always emphasising my preparation. I’m coming in smart because I’m bringing the ability to work round for round. My only objective is to bring the world championship to Nicaragua.

Dünya Boks Organizasyonu (WBO), chaired by Francisco ‘Paco’ Valcárcel, will have seven fights in different parts of the world this upcoming weekend.

 

Cumartesi, Mayıs 19:

 

Avustralyada, there will be a duel of unbeatens when the popular Australian Liam Paro (13-0, 9 KO en) faces Sebastian Bytyqi (11-0-1, 8 KO en) of the Czech Republic for the vacant WBO Youth Jr. Welterweight başlık. mücadele planlanıyor 10 rounds and it’ll take place at the Southport Sharks AFL Club in Southport.

Eski Olimpiya, current WBO junior welterweight European champion and #12 sırada, Fatih Keles (10-0-1, 5 KO en) of Turkey, will be making the third defense of his title against Russian Maxim Churbanov (8-3-1) and former Olympian Ali Eren Demirezen (8-0-0) will defend his WBO European Heavyweight Title against Georgia’s Tornike Puritchamiashvili (11-8-0, 7 KO en).

 

In England, WBO Inter-Continental Junior Welterweight title holder and 4th ranked Jack Catterall (20-0, 11 KO en) will be making his seventh title defense against Frenchman Christopher Sebire (26-10-1, 9 KO en). Sonra, in duel of Englishmen, Darren Tetley (15-0, 6 KO en) will face Mason Cartwright (13-0-1, 5 KO en) for the vacant WBO welterweight European belt. The fight venue is the Elland Road Football Ground in Leeds.

The boxing movement of WBO regional titles continues, and will take place in Japan, where the WBO Asia-Pacific lightweight champion and #2 ranked Nihito Arakawa (31-6-1, 18 KO en) will put his title on the line against Filipino, Rimar Metuda (12-3, 7 KO en) in a bout that’ll take place in the Ota-City General Gymnasium.
