Undefeated lightweight prospect Jamaine “The Technician” Ortiz Set for Friday’s homecoming fight

WORCESTER, Massa. (Febbraio 26, 2020) – Undefeated World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth World lightweight championJamaine "The Technician" Ortiz (12-0, 6 KO) plans to make a major statement this Friday when he fights at home in Worcester, Massachusetts, for the first time as a professional boxer.

Ortiz will headline aCES Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS® evento, promoted by Classic Entertainment and Sports (CES), at the historic Worcester Palladium.

Nel main event 8-tondo, Ortiz faces Mexican knockout specialist“Loco” Luis Ronaldo Castillo (22-5, 17 KO), a former WBC FECOMBOX lightweight champion, in a non-title fight.

“I’m ready,” Ortiz said after a recent open workout. “It’s good getting so much support. I have a lot of people coming to the fights. To me, I only have one job – win!  And I’d like to win in spectacular fashion. I want to show everybody at the Palladium and those watching on UFC FIGHT PASS that it’s all real, no hype behind my name. Everybody watching Friday night will know what I bring into the ring.”

Ortiz, 23, is a lightning-quick, gifted lightweight with tremendous upside. A decorated amateur, Ortiz is a rising star in what many believe will be a breakout year for him.

“Jamaine certainly hasn’t reached his full potential,” Ortiz’ head trainerRocky Gonzalez commented. “He’s still young and all he really needs is more experience. He’s a good listener with great hand speed, and he switches (stances) easily. And he really believes in himself and it’s hard to beat somebody like that. I can’t teach heart, but he has that as well. I don’t know how far he can go, non ancora, but he’s talented and nowhere close to being a finished product.”

Davtaev sostituisce Otto Wallin, Who Was Forced To Withdraw Due To Minor Injury

NEW YORK – Febbraio 26 – Undefeated heavyweight power puncherApti Davtaev affronterà veteranoLucas Browne in the 10-round co-main event of SHOWTIME BOXING: EDIZIONE SPECIALE sabato, Marzo 28, in diretta su Showtime(10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT) in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Park Theater at Park MGM in Las Vegas. Davtaev replaces heavyweight contender Otto Wallin, who was forced to suspend training and withdraw from his scheduled bout due to an injury to his foot.

From Kurchaloi, Russia, Davtaev (20-0-1, 19 KO) has earned a 90-percent knockout ratio with his aggressive style and devastating power. The athletic, 30-year-old has remained active since moving his camp to the United States in 2017 after signing with Salita Promotions. He trains at Kronk Gym in Detroit, Mich., under the tutelage of SugarHill Steward, nephew of legendary Hall of Fame trainer Emanuel Steward.

“Otto suffered a minor injury and suspending training was the smart thing to do,” said Wallin’s promoter Dmitriy Salita. “He will be back in the ring in no time. Fortunatamente, Apti was in top shape and ready to go. He is a gifted heavyweight and he’ll be on everyone’s radar after March 28.”

In his last outing on February 21, the six-foot-five-inch Davtaev handed previously unbeaten John Napari his first defeat with a vicious second-round knockout. A few weeks prior, a gennaio 10, he scored an impressive third-round stoppage over veteran Keith Barr. This is his fifth start in the U.S. and first nationally televised bout.

Fighting out of New South Wales, Australia, Browne (29-2, 25 KO) most recently scored a knockout victory over John Hopoate in November, his second win of 2019. He’s won four of his last five bouts, with his only career losses coming to Dillian Whyte and David Allen in the U.K. Browne won his first 25 lotte pro, including a stoppage of Ruslan Chagaev in 2016 to capture a WBA Heavyweight Championship. He will be making his U.S. debutto.

The three-fight SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION telecast features unbeaten former bantamweight world champion Luis Nery (30-0, 24 KO) taking on undefeated contender Aaron Alameda (25-0, 13 KO) in a WBC Super Bantamweight Title Eliminator main event. Rising light heavyweight prospects Joseph George (10-0, 6 KO) and Marcos Escudero (10-1, 9 KO) open the telecast with a 10-round rematch of their NovemberShoBox showdown that saw George win a narrow-split decision.

Veteran broadcaster Brian Custer will serve as telecast host with versatile combat sportscaster Mauro Ranallo calling the action alongside Hall of Fame analyst Al Bernstein and former two-division world champion Paulie Malignaggi. Rounding out the telecast team are Emmy® premio giornalista vincente Jim Gray, unofficial ringside scorer Steve Farhood and world-renowned ring announcer Jimmy Lennon Jr. David Dinkins Jr. serves as Executive Producer with Ray Smaltz producing and Bob Dunphy directing.

LAS VEGAS (Febbraio 20, 2020) – Undefeated super lightweightKendo “Tremendo” Castaneda (17-0, 8 KO) has been in training camp since the beginning of this year in Boxers & Brawlers gym in his San Antonio hometown to prepare for his February 28th fight against North American Boxing Organization (PROSSIMO) campioneYomar “The Magic” Alamo (17-0-1, 12 KO) airing live on Boxeo Telemundo, a partire da 11:30 p.m. E / 8:30 p.m. PT, from Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida.

Training Camp Notes

Training Camp: “Everything here has been good. I’m ready to rock and get back in the ring. I’ll have no trouble making weight for this fight. My sparring partners are local guys, some pros, and other amateurs. I like helping up-and-coming fighters who want to turn pro. They have natural speed at 18, 19 anni, but their strength hasn’t fully developed, yet. They learn and I get good work. My No. 1 sparring partner, Limon, has had more than 100 amateur fights. His style is similar to Alamo’s. He’s tall and lengthy, but not as powerful as Alamo. He throws great jabs and boxes well, which will help me when I fight Alamo.

Yomar Alamo:  “He fights off his back foot a lot. He likes to box and is a good counter-puncher.

He’s undefeated but who knows how he wants to fight?  I like razzle-dazzle and I’ll quickly learn what I’m in for.”

Fighting in Alamo’s backyard: “I’m not concerned about that at all. My first fight with RJJ Boxing was in Las Vegas against a local fighter, Chuy Gutierrez, and I won that fight. I don’t mind fighting in my opponent’s backyard and I’m getting used to it. My last fight was in Reno against a California fighter, who lived a lot closer to Reno than I do in San Antonio. And I fought a local fighter in New Hampshire, when I had a bare-knuckle fight.”

How do you envision this fight going:  “Alamo will go into the fight thinking it’s going to be a boxing match, almost like an exhibition starting the fight. But I’m going to go in strong, like a street fight, banging him around. I’ll catch him with some surprises, throwing hard blows. In the third or fourth round, I’ll start boxing more. Then it’s going to be too much for him, and I’ll take him out in the eighth or ninth round.”

Bout importance: “I think I’ll possibly get a world championship eliminator fight with an impressive victory. I’m a rare, old-fashioned boxer.”

17 febbraio, NYC — Il cinese Meng Fanlong (16-0, 10 KO) combatterà IBF & Campione dei pesi massimi leggeri WBC, Artur Beterbiev (15-0, 15 KO), 28 marzo al Videotron Center di Quebec City, Canada. Beterbiev vs.. Meng è presentato da Top Rank in associazione con Groupe Yvon Michel e Gestev, e sarà trasmesso in diretta su ESPN insieme a un co-lungometraggio su 10 PM ET.

Fanlong, chi è di Chifeng, Mongolia Interna Cina, ha in mente molto di più del suo titolo mondiale. Il suo paese d'origine è stato sostanzialmente chiuso a causa del recente focolaio di Coronavirus.

Ortiz will headline aCES Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS® evento, promoted by Classic Entertainment and Sports (CES), at the historic Worcester Palladium. His opponent in the 8-round main event will be Mexican knockout artist“Loco” Luis Ronaldo Castillo (22-5, 17 KO), a former WBC FECOMBOX lightweight champion.

“I’ve never fought in Worcester as a professional,” Ortiz said at a recent press conference. “I’ve wanted to do this bad to let people in Worcester see what it has. It’s going to be extra special because two of my closest friends, Irvin Gonzalez eKendrick Ball, Jr., are also fighting on this card. We’ve fought together since we were kids.”

The 23-year-old will not be defending his WBC Youth World title, because he will relinquish his belt in April, when turns 24 and becomes ineligible in terms of the age requirement (23 e più giovane).

ONTARIO, Calif. (Novembre 5, 2019) – Il titolo welter WBC Super attesissimo rematch tra Tony “Molto male” Harrison e Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo sarà headliner in diretta in prima serata in FOX PBC Fight Night d'azione e su FOX Deportes Sabato, Dicembre 21 da Toyota Arena di Ontario, California.

Unbeaten Mykquan Williams learned invaluable lesson for future

MANCHESTER, Conn. (Novembre 4, 2019) – The true test for a genuine boxing prospect is how he or she responds to adversity, whether it included a loss, taglio, knockdown or, in the case of “Meraviglioso” Mykquan Williams, a disputed decision that tarnished his perfect pro record.

The 21-year-old Williams, ora 15-0-1 (7 KO), was recently on the short end of a highly disputed eight-round draw with Tre'Sean Wiggins (11-4-3, 6 KO), nel “Broadway Boxing” main event held at Generoso Pope Athletic Complex on the campus of St. Francis College in Brooklyn.

Neither Williams nor his head trainer, Paul Cichon, was pleased when the judges’ scores were announced – 77-75 in favor of Williams, 76-76 due volte – for a majority draw. Never-the-less, both feel that this developmental lesson will pay dividends down the road.

“The plan was for me to work inside,” Williams said after the fight. “The first and second were feeling out rounds and then I’d adjust. I didn’t feel from the start that he could hurt me. I wanted to get inside and beat him with body punches. I did that but I think I played to the crowd a little too much. I’d change that if I could go back. And I would have let my hands go more, but I won this fight because I landed the harder, cleaner more effective shots throughout the fight. He just wanted to hold.

“I’m disappointed because I was defending my title, but I didn’t lose the fight and I still have my belt. I ll have a lot to learn and I’ll be back in the gym soon to fix errors I made so that I won’t have those issues my next fight.”

Cichon felt that Williams won five if not six rounds because he was the aggressor throughout the match. “Ero sorpreso,” ha ammesso. “Mykye was the champion and I thought that he (Wiggins) would have needed to win convincingly to win rounds. Team Williams agrees that there’s no sense rushing Williams, Dopotutto, ha solo 21, but that 2020 should be an active, career-changing year for the East Hartford (CT) combattente.

“I’m ready to fight at the next level,” Williams concluded. “Time will tell. Styles make fights but I hurt him (Wiggins) several times.”

“We’ll jump back in the ring in early 2020,” Cichon ha aggiunto. “We’re looking to fight opponents with winning records, but not another six-foot southpaw.”

VERONA, N.Y.. (Novembre. 4, 2019) — Two of the light heavyweight’s division’s most explosive fighters are set for a fistic shootout Saturday, Jan. 18, as former world champion Eleider “Storm” Alvarez will face Michael “Cannon Handz” Seals at Turning Stone Resort Casino.


The 10-round showdown will be contested for the vacant WBC Continental Americas title, and the winner is expected to challenge for a world title in 2020.

Alvarez (24-1, 12 KO), the Colombian-born, Montreal-based boxer-puncher has not fought since Feb. 2, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Sergey Kovalev six months after knocking him out to win the WBO light heavyweight world title. Alvarez’s long layoff is due to a torn foot ligament he suffered in training earlier this year. He hopes a win over Seals will earn him another crack at world championship glory.

Sigilli (24-2, 18 KO), a Mobile, Alabama, native who played collegiate football at Alabama A&M, is still one of the division’s heaviest hitters at 37 anni. An 11-year pro, Seals has been involved in many memorable brawls, compreso un 2015 Fight of the Year contender versus Edwin Rodriguez that included five knockdowns in three rounds.
