Davtaev Replaces Otto Wallin, Who Was Forced To Withdraw Due To Minor Injury

NEW YORK – Février 26 – Undefeated heavyweight power puncherApti Davtaev fera face à vétéranLucas Browne in the 10-round co-main event of SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION on Saturday, Mars 28, en direct sur Showtime(10 p.m. HE / 7 h, heure. PT) in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Park Theater at Park MGM in Las Vegas. Davtaev replaces heavyweight contender Otto Wallin, who was forced to suspend training and withdraw from his scheduled bout due to an injury to his foot.

From Kurchaloi, Russie, Davtaev (20-0-1, 19 KOs) has earned a 90-percent knockout ratio with his aggressive style and devastating power. The athletic, 30-year-old has remained active since moving his camp to the United States in 2017 after signing with Salita Promotions. He trains at Kronk Gym in Detroit, Michigan, under the tutelage of SugarHill Steward, nephew of legendary Hall of Fame trainer Emanuel Steward.

“Otto suffered a minor injury and suspending training was the smart thing to do,” said Wallin’s promoter Dmitriy Salita. “He will be back in the ring in no time. Heureusement, Apti was in top shape and ready to go. He is a gifted heavyweight and he’ll be on everyone’s radar after March 28.”

In his last outing on February 21, the six-foot-five-inch Davtaev handed previously unbeaten John Napari his first defeat with a vicious second-round knockout. A few weeks prior, en janvier 10, he scored an impressive third-round stoppage over veteran Keith Barr. This is his fifth start in the U.S. and first nationally televised bout.

Fighting out of New South Wales, Australie, Browne (29-2, 25 KOs) most recently scored a knockout victory over John Hopoate in November, his second win of 2019. He’s won four of his last five bouts, with his only career losses coming to Dillian Whyte and David Allen in the U.K. Browne won his first 25 combats professionnels, including a stoppage of Ruslan Chagaev in 2016 to capture a WBA Heavyweight Championship. He will be making his U.S. début.

The three-fight SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION telecast features unbeaten former bantamweight world champion Luis Nery (30-0, 24 KOs) taking on undefeated contender Aaron Alameda (25-0, 13 KOs) in a WBC Super Bantamweight Title Eliminator main event. Rising light heavyweight prospects Joseph George (10-0, 6 KOs) and Marcos Escudero (10-1, 9 KOs) open the telecast with a 10-round rematch of their NovemberShoBox showdown that saw George win a narrow-split decision.

Veteran broadcaster Brian Custer will serve as telecast host with versatile combat sportscaster Mauro Ranallo calling the action alongside Hall of Fame analyst Al Bernstein and former two-division world champion Paulie Malignaggi. Rounding out the telecast team are Emmy® primé journaliste Jim Gray, unofficial ringside scorer Steve Farhood and world-renowned ring announcer Jimmy Lennon Jr. David Dinkins Jr. serves as Executive Producer with Ray Smaltz producing and Bob Dunphy directing.

LAS VEGAS (Février 20, 2020) – Undefeated super lightweightKendo "Tremendo" Castaneda (17-0, 8 KOs) has been in training camp since the beginning of this year in Boxers & Brawlers gym in his San Antonio hometown to prepare for his February 28e fight against North American Boxing Organization (VOISINS) championYomar “The Magic” Alamo (17-0-1, 12 KOs) airing live on Boxeo Telemundo, à partir de 11:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. PT, from Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Floride.

Training Camp: “Everything here has been good. I’m ready to rock and get back in the ring. I’ll have no trouble making weight for this fight. My sparring partners are local guys, some pros, and other amateurs. I like helping up-and-coming fighters who want to turn pro. They have natural speed at 18, 19 ans, but their strength hasn’t fully developed, yet. They learn and I get good work. My No. 1 sparring partner, Limon, has had more than 100 amateur fights. His style is similar to Alamo’s. He’s tall and lengthy, but not as powerful as Alamo. He throws great jabs and boxes well, which will help me when I fight Alamo.

Yomar Alamo:  “He fights off his back foot a lot. He likes to box and is a good counter-puncher.

He’s undefeated but who knows how he wants to fight?  I like razzle-dazzle and I’ll quickly learn what I’m in for.”

Fighting in Alamo’s backyard: “I’m not concerned about that at all. My first fight with RJJ Boxing was in Las Vegas against a local fighter, Chuy Gutierrez, and I won that fight. I don’t mind fighting in my opponent’s backyard and I’m getting used to it. My last fight was in Reno against a California fighter, who lived a lot closer to Reno than I do in San Antonio. And I fought a local fighter in New Hampshire, when I had a bare-knuckle fight.”

How do you envision this fight going:  “Alamo will go into the fight thinking it’s going to be a boxing match, almost like an exhibition starting the fight. But I’m going to go in strong, like a street fight, banging him around. I’ll catch him with some surprises, throwing hard blows. In the third or fourth round, I’ll start boxing more. Then it’s going to be too much for him, and I’ll take him out in the eighth or ninth round.”

Bout importance: “I think I’ll possibly get a world championship eliminator fight with an impressive victory. I’m a rare, old-fashioned boxer.”

17 février, NYC — China’s Meng Fanlong (16-0, 10 KOs) will fight IBF & WBC light heavyweight champion, Artur Beterbiev (15-0, 15 KOs), March 28th at the Videotron Center in Quebec City, Canada. Beterbiev vs.. Meng is presented by Top Rank in association with Groupe Yvon Michel and Gestev, and will be broadcast live on ESPN along with a co-feature bout at 10 PM ET.

Fanlong, who is from Chifeng, Inner Mongolia China, has more than just his world title shot on his mind. His home country has been essentially shut down due to the recent Coronavirus outbreak.

“The majority of my country has been shut down for weeks.” Says Meng. “My fellow citizens need something to help them escape from this very difficult time. I hope to bring some positivity, happiness, and joy to them with this fight. I want to put pride in their hearts.”




On the 28th of March, Meng will be stepping into the ring with one of boxing’s most dangerous punchers. Champion Artur Beterbiev has won all of his professional fights by knockout – including his thrilling title unification bout against Oleksandr Gvozdyck in October. Meng was in attendance that night in Philadelphia and observed with great interest.

But facing one of boxing’s most dangerous fighters in the ring pales in comparison to the concerns and troubles that are affecting hundreds of millions of Chinese across the globe.

“Fanlong is the best Chinese fighter in the world – everyone will learn that on March 28th.” Says Meng advisor Tommy Lane. “This is a historic fight because he is the first Chinese boxer to fight for the light heavyweight championship. And with what is going on with coronavirus, this is a fight that can bring joy and positive energy to the people at this challenging time.”

It is unknown when the coronavirus will be under control or when the citizens of the The People’s Republic of China can get back to normal life.

TUCSON, Arizona (Novembre 9, 2019) – Musclées poids lourds Californie Alexander “Le grand” Fleurs retour sur le ring jeudi soir dernier avec une vengeance, assommant Mario “Chabelo” Heredia dans la sixième manche de la boxe JJR sur FIGHT UFC PASS événement, AVA extérieur Casino Del Sol Amphitheatre à Tucson, Arizona.

ONTARIO, Californie. (Novembre 5, 2019) – Le très attendu WBC super mi-moyens Titre rematch entre Tony “Super mal” Harrison et Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo sera la vedette en direct en prime time dans FOX PBC Lutte action de nuit et sur FOX Sports samedi, Décembre 21 de Toyota Arena en Ontario, Californie.

Harrison vs. Charlo II est un match revanche à haute tension qui a été construit depuis la fin du premier match. Les deux ont été mis à se réunir en Juin, mais le match retour a été reportée lorsque Harrison a souffert des ligaments déchirés après une entorse à la cheville à l'entraînement.

Maintenant qu'il est complètement guéri, Harrison est prêt à consolider son emprise sur le titre tout en Charlo est prêt à reprendre ce qu'il croit lui appartient. Le match retour est juste un court jour d'une année complète de la première fois que les deux entrés dans l'anneau les uns contre les autres sur la FOX.

Dans la première réunion, Harrison a déployé une stratégie défensive tactique qui émoussé une grande partie de la force de l'infraction alimenté à haute de Charlo. L'intrigue du match revanche est de savoir si Harrison sera en mesure d'utiliser une stratégie similaire pour rester champion ou sera Charlo en mesure d'imposer sa volonté à Harrison et retrouver le titre.

Le Harrison-29 ans (28-2, 21 KOs) le premier match entré contre Charlo étant venu dans son court titre mondial tentative précédente. Il a perdu à Jarrett Hurd dans une tentative pour le titre IBF 2017. Ce fut une soirée émotive pour Charlo (32-1, 16 KOs) la première fois qu'il a combattu Harrison. Lui et son frère jumeau, Jermall, le champion du monde WBC Middleweight, défendaient leurs titres sur un PBC FOX Fight Night au Barclays Center programme double à Brooklyn. Jermell et de nombreux observateurs pensaient qu'il Ringside avait fait assez pour battre Harrison, mais les juges ont vu différemment, Harrison une remise victoire par décision unanime et la mise en place d'un combat revanche très contestée.

Un natif de 29 ans de Houston, Texas, Charlo, a remporté le titre avec une victoire par KO sur John Jackson 2016. Il a continué à s'établir comme l'un des meilleurs jeunes finisseurs dans le sport avec dévastant victoires d'arrêt sur Charles Hatley et Erickson Lubin dans la défense du titre. Il a marqué une décision majoritaire sur l'ancien champion du monde Austin Trout avant de prendre Harrison et plus récemment remporté une victoire par KO sur Jorge Cota sur FOX en Juin.

“Je me sens encore fortement que j'ai gagné ce premier combat et je vais faire les choses d'une manière plus dominante cette fois-ci,” Saïd Charlo. “Je viens pour ce combat est le accablant, fort, féroce Jermell Charlo. Unbeaten Mykquan Williams learned invaluable lesson for future

MANCHESTER, Conn. (Novembre 4, 2019) – The true test for a genuine boxing prospect is how he or she responds to adversity, whether it included a loss, Couper, knockdown or, in the case of “Merveilleux” Mykquan Williams, a disputed decision that tarnished his perfect pro record.

The 21-year-old Williams, maintenant 15-0-1 (7 KOs), was recently on the short end of a highly disputed eight-round draw with Tre'Sean Wiggins (11-4-3, 6 KOs), dans le “Broadway de boxe” main event held at Generoso Pope Athletic Complex on the campus of St. Francis College in Brooklyn.

Nobody claimed the questionable decision was highway robbery, encore, most non-partisan fans at the show, or those watching live on UFC FIGHT PASS®, felt Williams rightfully deserved to have his arms raised in victory. Despite having a blemish placed on his pro record, he didn’t suffer a loss, and did retain his World Boxing Council (WBC) United States super lightweight title.

Williams’ opponent was a southpaw with a five-inch height advantage. Once he felt Williams’ puissance, especially in the liver, Wiggins went into survival mode, clutching and grabbing every time Williams got close.

Neither Williams nor his head trainer, Paul Cichon, was pleased when the judges’ scores were announced – 77-75 in favor of Williams, 76-76 deux fois – for a majority draw. Cependant, both feel that this developmental lesson will pay dividends down the road.

“The plan was for me to work inside,” Williams said after the fight. “The first and second were feeling out rounds and then I’d adjust. I didn’t feel from the start that he could hurt me. I wanted to get inside and beat him with body punches. I did that but I think I played to the crowd a little too much. I’d change that if I could go back. And I would have let my hands go more, but I won this fight because I landed the harder, cleaner more effective shots throughout the fight. He just wanted to hold.

“I’m disappointed because I was defending my title, but I didn’t lose the fight and I still have my belt. I ll have a lot to learn and I’ll be back in the gym soon to fix errors I made so that I won’t have those issues my next fight.”

Cichon felt that Williams won five if not six rounds because he was the aggressor throughout the match. “J'ai été surpris,” il a admis. “Mykye was the champion and I thought that he (Wiggins) would have needed to win convincingly to win rounds. He didn’t. Mykye started using his double jab to get inside and then he killed his opponent’s body. The body shots brought Wiggins’ hands down. Mykye stalked and hurt him a few times.

“Mykye learned a valuable lesson like not letting the crowd get to him, and never letting up on the gas.Wiggins was smart. Every time Mykye got close to him, he grabbed him, especially after he felt Mykye’s powerful body shots. It may have been ugly, but he fought smart.”

Team Williams agrees that there’s no sense rushing Williams, après tout, il est seulement 21, but that 2020 should be an active, career-changing year for the East Hartford (CT) combattant.

“I’m ready to fight at the next level,” Williams concluded. “Time will tell. Styles make fights but I hurt him (Wiggins) several times.”

“We’ll jump back in the ring in early 2020,” Cichon added. “We’re looking to fight opponents with winning records, but not another six-foot southpaw.”

“I was very proud of Mykey,” Williams’ directeur Jackie Kallen commenté. It was a learning experience that will make him an even greater fighter. He is still undefeated and one of the top young prospects in the 140-pound division. The next year will be a pivotal one for him.”

VERONA, N. Y.. (Novembre. 4, 2019) — Two of the light heavyweight’s division’s most explosive fighters are set for a fistic shootout Saturday, Jan. 18, as former world champion Eleider “Storm” Alvarez will face Michael “Cannon Handz” Seals at Turning Stone Resort Casino.


The 10-round showdown will be contested for the vacant WBC Continental Americas title, and the winner is expected to challenge for a world title in 2020.

This is a tune-up for him but everything for me. I’m not an opponent for the top fighters. I am a top fighter. I want a world title shot, and I won’t let this guy get in the way. He had his time. It’s my time.”

Alvarez (24-1, 12 KOs), the Colombian-born, Montreal-based boxer-puncher has not fought since Feb. 2, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Sergey Kovalev six months after knocking him out to win the WBO light heavyweight world title. Alvarez’s long layoff is due to a torn foot ligament he suffered in training earlier this year. He hopes a win over Seals will earn him another crack at world championship glory.

Phoques (24-2, 18 KOs), a Mobile, Alabama, native who played collegiate football at Alabama A&M, is still one of the division’s heaviest hitters at 37 ans. An 11-year pro, Seals has been involved in many memorable brawls, y compris un 2015 Fight of the Year contender versus Edwin Rodriguez that included five knockdowns in three rounds.
