Seconds Out Promotions Signs Light Heavyweight Powerhouse Marcus Oliveira to a Promotional Agreement

Tony Grygelko of Minneapolis-based Seconds Out Promotions proudly announces the signing of hard-punching former world-title challenger Marcus Oliveira to a promotional contract.

 

From Menominee, Wisconsin, and of Menominee Nation, nativo, heritage, 36-year-old Oliveira (25-1-1, 20 KO) is also a former NABF and WBA Fedebol Light Heavyweight Champion.

The promotional agreement is a reunion of sorts, as Grygelko was Oliveira’s promoter for much of his early professional career.

 

“I used to promote Marcus, prior to him signing with Don King, and it’s truly an honor to be able to promote him again and help position him for another world title shot,” said Tony Grygelko. “It seems that with his previous promoter not actively seeking fights, and his loss to Jurgen Brähmer, that Marcus has been written off, but the truth is he is extremely focused and has a burning desire to show all his fans that he has the talent to win a World Championship! He plans to shake off some ring rust off with a couple fights and then he’ll be looking to go after some of the big names in the division, such as Andrezj Fonfara, Sergey Kovalev, Bernard Hopkins, and a rematch with Brähmer.”

 

Oliveira, who was a heavily decorated amateur boxer before turning pro in 2006, said he feels his career had been stalled by an agreement he signed with another promoter. He says he happy to now be free of that contract and back to working with someone he trusts.

 

“I was looking for someone who could get me to the next level in my career and Tony has already done that for quite a few guys, so it was an easy decision,” said Oliveira. “He’s always straight-up with me and treats me well. I have a great relationship with him. I’m very happy about this new direction.”

 

“We’re very excited to be back working with Tony,” said Oliveira’s Manager, Douglas Ward from the Underground Boxing Company. “It’s good to be working with a promoter that has our same set of goals.”

 

Oliveira joins a Seconds Out stable that also includes Carson Jones and recent world-title challenger Caleb Truax.

Boxing’s most avoided world champion Guillermo Rigondeaux heading to UK next month To publically confront Scott Quigg

CORK, Irlanda (Aprile 12, 2015) – Unified super bantamweight world champion Fattura “Lo Sciacallo” Rigondeaux (15-0, 10 KO), arguably the most avoided reigning world title holder in modern boxing history, will travel to London next month in order to publicly confront his mandatory challenger, Scott Quigg (30-0-2, 22 KO), the World Boxing Association (WBA) “regolare” 122-pound divisione titlist.

 

A month ago in an unusual move, Rigondeaux’ manager Gary Hyde formally petitioned the WBA to enforce a mandatory title fight between his WBA Super champion and Quigg. “QUIGG, Santa Cruz and Frampton have showed no desire to challenge Rigondeaux,” Hyde ha detto. “These three fighters are trying to fool the public into believing that fight il No. 1 guy in the world is not important. While they are lining their pockets with ridiculous amounts of cash for fighting below par opponents, Rigondeaux is forced to wait around until some Asian opponent steps up. “Rigondeaux will travel to Manchester to fight Quigg, Belfast to fight Frampton, or Las Vegas to fight Santa Cruz. None of these so-called world champions, anche se, will consider fighting the acknowledged world super bantamweight champion. They’re all much more content to hold onto their belts than beating The Man in their weight class.”

 

Next month, Hyde reports, Rigondeaux will travel to the United Kingdom in a bold attempt to embarrass Quigg into fighting him. “I don’t like traveling overseas unless I have a fight lined up,” Rigondeaux explained, “but I will travel to England in May to publicly call out Scott Quigg. If he turns down the chance to fight our WBA mandatory, he will be remembered for that instead of being known as a great fighter. While I’m in the UK, I will also go to Belfast to checkout Carl Frampton to ask if he wants to prove himself against the best in his division.”

 

Understanding that the top super bantamweight action is currently in Europe, noting a record purse ($2.2 million USD) offered for a Frampton vs. Quigg fight, Rigondeaux is considering a major change in the not too distant future, moving his base from Miami to the UK, if that’s what it takes for him to get in on the action.

HOUSTON, TEXAS (Marzo 31, 2015) – Bombs will be flying once again when Gary Shaw Productions e Savarese Promotions’ undefeated Light-Heavyweight slugger, Medzhid “B-52” Bektemirov (15-0, 12 KO), fa il suo ritorno sul ring contro Michael Gbenga (20-18, 20 KO). MONTREAL (Marzo 27, 2015) – La concretizzazione del The Ring, WBC, WBA, IBF e WBO luce lotta unificazione dei pesi massimi tra Adonis “Superuomo” Stevenson e Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev ha compiuto un altro passo importante. Il World Boxing Council (WBC) ha ordinato un'offerta borsa per prendere posto Aprile 17 per determinare il promotore di questo evento.

Leon Margules dei Warriors Boxing desidera congratularsi campione piuma WBA Super Mondiale Nicholas “L'ascia” Walters per essere nominato Sportivo giamaicano dell'anno alla 54a RJR Sports Foundation Awards nazionali.
