THREE WOMEN’S FIGHTS, TWO TITLE FIGHTS AND NEW FACES FIND A HOME ON NEF 25 CARD

LEWISTON, Мејн (Август 19, 2016) -New Англија бори (NEF) today announced the full fight card for the promotion’s next event, “NEF 25: HEROES & VILLAINS.” It is scheduled to take place onСабота, Септември 10, 2016 во Lewiston. The dynamic card will feature professional boxing bouts, as well as both professional and amateur mixed-martial-arts (МЛД) натпревари.

LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT SLUGFEST SCHEDULED FOR NEF BOXING RING

Montella graduated from Carrabec High School in North Anson, Maine in 1998. Soon after, Montella joined the United States Marine Corps (USMC). He served in the marines until 2003 when he received an honorable discharge. After spending the better part of a decade in Virginia, Montella moved with his wife to the Boston, Massachusetts area in 2011. He owns and operates The Way, LLC boxing gym in Woburn, Масачусетс. Montella has been on a tear in the boxing ring of late, scoring three knockouts in an eight-month period.

 

Tollison Lewis cut his teeth in the NEF MMA cage. He has found more success, Меѓутоа, in the boxing ring. Lewis took a fight on one day’s notice against veteran John Webster (8-7-1, 6 КО) in the fall of 2014. He would dominate that fight and win by decision. NEW CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT NEF 22 ВО LEWISTON

On the boxing portion of the card, Брендон “Топови” Бери (11-1-1) fought to a majority draw in a six-round contest with James Lester (10-9-1). Many of Berry’s supporters in attendance felt that he won the fight, but two of the judges had it even on the scorecards.

 

The headliner of the amateur MMA card saw Калеб сала (7-3) captured the vacant amateur featherweight title with a second-round submission of Erik Nelson (2-3). The Colisée was a packed house for the promotion’s second hybrid mixed-martial-arts (МЛД) and professional boxing event. Fight fans were treated to a marathon evening of nonstop action featuring 26 bouts in total.

 

In the MMA main event of the evening, in what can only be described as a “thriller,” Брус “Убави момче” Boyington (13-8) defeated Jon Lemke (5-4) via split decision to retain the NEF MMA Professional Lightweight Title. Boyington and Lemke battled back-and-forth for five brutal rounds in what many in attendance were calling one of the best fights in NEF history.

 

In the boxing headliner, Northeast Junior Welterweight Champion Brandon “Топови” Бери (11-1) handed Tollison Lewis the first loss of his professional boxing career (2-1) with a second-round stoppage via technical knockout (СЗО).

NEF TO OPEN 2016 WITH SPECTACULAR FIGHT CARD

A pair of professional boxing bouts will be featured on the main card of the evening. Џоел “Бебе Бул” Епископот (0-0-1) returns to action after more than a year’s absence to face MMA regular Crowsneck Boutin (0-0) in a light-heavyweight four-round bout. Northeast Junior Welterweight Champion Брендон “Топови” Бери (10-1) will attempt to make it three wins in a row when he steps in the ring to face undefeated Tollison Луис (2-0) in a six-round, non-title, super-welterweight contest. Berry is coming off what many consider to be the defining win of his still-young professional career over gritty Mexican veteran Roberto Valenzuela (73-70-2) last November at “NEF XX.” Despite suffering a bad cut above his eye early in the fight, Berry maintained his composure and looked sharp on his way to a unanimous decision victory in the first eight-round fight of his career. The West Forks, Maine native was a 2013 Northern New England Golden Gloves champion as an amateur. The fight with Lewis is expected to be the last Berry will compete in above his usual 140-pound junior welterweight division.

 

“It’s great to be getting back in action inside the ring so soon, especially after suffering such a nasty cut over my eye from my last fight in November,” said Berry. “Thank you NEF for putting yet another very tough opponent in front of me. Tollison is a class act in and out of the ring, and I think our styles will make a crowd pleasing bout. I remember being undefeated still and I know how important keeping the ‘0’ on the record is. Tollison is a big, strong athlete and I’m sure he will be more than prepared. Both him and I understand competition, and will most likely be friends after this event. I’m glad to be sharing this main event fight with him, and may the best man win!”

 

Tollison Lewis’s foray into the boxing world was unplanned.
