SIZE AND POWER MEET TECHNIQUE IN NEF 21 BOXING MAIN EVENT

Lewiston, Maine (Janvye 5, 2016) - New England Goumen (Nef), Nimewo-yon sèl batay pwomosyon rejyonal Amerik la, pral kenbe evènman pwochen li yo, “Nef 21: Imortèl yo” sou Samdi, Fevriye 6, 2016 nan Androscoggin Bank Colisée nan nan Lewiston, Maine. The fight card is scheduled to feature both mixed-martial-arts (Mma) and professional boxing bouts. Earlier today, NEF announced the main event of the professional boxing portion of the “Nef 21” kat batay. Northeast Junior Welterweight Champion Brandon “Cannon an” Berry (10-1) will take on the undefeated Tollison Lewis (2-0) in a super welterweight contest scheduled for six rounds.

This is a classic battle of size and strength against technique,” said NEF co-owner and promoter Nick DiSalvo. “In one corner you have a polished boxer with a solid amateur background in the form of Brandon Berry, and he will be fighting in a heavier weight class in this bout. In the other corner you have a powerful brawler with an MMA background in the form of Tollison Lewis, and he has fought most of his career at 155 and 170-pounds. You can’t script a better contrast in styles for a bout like this. Just about anything could happen. It’s anyone’s fight. It’s going to be wild in the Colisee when this one goes off.

Berry is coming off what many consider to be the defining win of his still-young professional career over gritty Mexican veteran Roberto Valenzuela (73-70-2) last November at “Nef XX.” Despite suffering a bad cut above his eye early in the fight, Berry maintained his composure and looked sharp on his way to a unanimous decision victory in the first eight-round fight of his career. The West Forks, Maine native was a 2013 Northern New England Golden Gloves champion as an amateur. The fight with Lewis is expected to be the last Berry will compete in above his usual 140-pound junior welterweight division.

It’s great to be getting back in action inside the ring so soon, especially after suffering such a nasty cut over my eye from my last fight in November,” said Berry. “Thank you NEF for putting yet another very tough opponent in front of me. Tollison is a class act in and out of the ring, and I think our styles will make a crowd pleasing bout. I remember being undefeated still and I know how important keeping the ‘0’ on the record is. Tollison is a big, strong athlete and I’m sure he will be more than prepared. Both him and I understand competition, and will most likely be friends after this event. I’m glad to be sharing this main event fight with him, and may the best man win!”

Tollison Lewis’s foray into the boxing world was unplanned. Nan mwa Oktòb 2014, just 24-hours prior to the start of the firstNEF Boxing” evènman, Lewis stepped in to face boxing veteran John Webster (8-7-1) after Webster’s previous opponent fell out. NEF executives, familiar with Lewis’s striking prowess in his MMA bouts, asked Lewis to take the fight at the last minute and Lewis did not hesitate to oblige. He went on to bully Webster for four rounds, (including knocking Webster out of the ring onto the timekeeper’s table), scoring a unanimous decision victory. This past November, in yet another dominant performance in the NEF boxing ring, Lewis stopped Zenon Herrera (0-1) with a third-round TKO. A win over a boxer of Berry’s caliber, pa gen dout, would propel Lewis to the next level in the sport. Lewis is a member of Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) in Lewiston where he trains under boxing coach Scott Frost.

Brandon is a tough guy and a good boxer,” Di Lewis. “I’m expecting a war. I’ll be bringing everything I got, and I know he will too, but I’m planning on staying undefeated. I’m not going to run my mouth. I have a lot of respect for Berry, but fans do not want to miss this. This fight will be a war and steal the night. Thank you NEF and Brandon, let’s do it man!”

Earlier today, the promotion announced the addition of a professional bout to the fight card. Tollison Lewis (0-4) te siyen nan figi “Enkasabl 2.0” Derek Shorey (2-2) nan yon pwa batay nan 150-liv. NEF further announced that Lewis had signed a long term, kontra milti-batay ak konpayi an.

Apre yon karyè long amatè ki wè l 'patisipe nan konpetisyon nan kalòj la trèz fwa, Tollison Lewis got off to a slow start in his professional career. He has been known throughout his career to take the toughest fights he can find, ak kat pèt Lewis a te tout vini nan men yo nan avyon de gè ki genyen kounye a genyen dosye, ak yon konbine genyen-pèt tally nan 16-6. Last fall, nan premye evènman boksè nef an, Lewis defeated veteran boxer John Webster (8-7-1) after taking the bout on just a day’s notice. With a brand new NEF contract in tow, yon timoun sou wout la, ak yon relèv soti nan espò a dèyè do l ', Lewis will now look to carry his success from the NEF boxing ring over to the MMA cage. The 150-pound catchweight will be the first step in Lewis’s transition from the lightweight to featherweight division.

“Premye a mwen ta renmen di mèsi pou opòtinite nef an ankò,” Di Lewis. “Mwen te sou yon ti repo long ak ti bebe mwen an ti fi sou wout la ap resevwa pare pou patènite, men mwen tounen kounye a. I’m super excited for this fight and also making my way down in weight. Shorey se yon nèg difisil ak tou moun trè otantik. He’s as dangerous as any man who steps in that cage. I’ll be ready and I know he will be coming hard and dangerous with bad intentions behind everything and when that cage door closes, li se pa gen okenn zanmi – li nan tout biznis. Be ready Derek, paske mwen pral. Let’s give these fans a show and test ourselves to the limit.

Fondatè a ak tèt nan Club la konba enkasabl, Derek Shorey is looking to bounce back from what he considers the worst loss of his career. Vreman vre, Jeremy dikyara (2-0) deklannche yon baraj ofansif sou Shorey nan “Nef XVIII Atik” last month that resulted in a first-round stoppage. Like Lewis, Shorey is also an NEF-signed athlete. Also like Lewis, Shorey se kap bay fanatik nef yon montre yo sonje nan “Nef XIX.”

“Sa a se yon batay mwen te wè ap vini ak mwen te te vle pou yon tan long,” Di Shorey. “Tollison pa pral tounen desann, ak li se pa bezwen pè yo jwenn frape. I’m coming off the worst performance of my career, ak fanmi m, zanmi ak fanatik merite pi bon pase sa. I’m excited to get in there and mix it up with Lewis and give the NEF fans the best performance of my career.
