Undefeated Ruben Villa weighs in for Tonight’s battle with Miguel Carrizoza

PHILADELPHIA, PENN. / ORANGE, Calif. (Oktobris. 1, 2018) – Promising featherweight prospect Ruben Villa (13-0, 5 Kos) headlines a talent rich card from his hometown of Salinas, Calif. par Sestdiena, Oktobris. 13.

 

 

 

Villa, 21, returns to the Salinas Storm House for the second time this year. The talented southpaw faces Mexico’s Miguel Carrizoza (10-3, 2 Kos) in the 8-round “Jaunais asins”Galvenais notikums.

 

 

 

Villa last fought from the Salinas Storm House in April, when he routed fellow prospect Marlon Olea in route to winning the vacant WBO Youth featherweight championship. It was Villa’s first title since turning professional in July 2016.

 

 

 

The two-time national Golden Gloves winner fights for the fifth time this year after registering six wins in 2017.

 

 

 

“It’s incredible how fast I’ve developed,” said Villa, who is managed by Danny Zamora and trained by Max Garcia. “It feels like it was yesterday that I was in four round fights and now I’m routinely headlining shows.”

 

 

 

The lefty, who sometimes conducts training camps in the sparring rich city of Riverside, Calif., decided to stay close to home for this fight. Him and his team have zeroed in on what is required to defeat Carrizoza.

 

 

 

“He fought my stablemate, Michael Dutchover [undefeated junior viegls], last year so Mike gave me a pretty detailed scouting report on him,” Villa said. “He’s a bruiser. He likes to come forward and get you onto the ropes or just backpedaling. I know how to fight guys like that. I’ve fought against guys like that before and I’ve seen a bunch of them in previous training camps. We are really comfortable in our game plan.”

Michael Dutchover (11-0, 8 Kos) Delivered Another Knockout Win on Friday Night

PHILADELPHIA, PENN. / ORANGE, Calif. (Septiņi. 24, 2018) Junior viegls Michael Dutchover (11-0, 8 Kos) put on another impressive performance on Friday night, this time knocking out the bigger Bergman Aguilar (14-4-1, 4 Kos) in the fifth round of Thompson Boxing’s “Jaunais asins” Galvenais notikums.

 

 

 

Dutchover, 20, used controlled body punching to end Aguilar’s night in the fifth round of a scheduled 8-round fight. The Midland, Texas native, who conducts training camp in Los Angeles, zeroed in on the body from the outset.

 

A pinpoint left hook to the body sent Aguilar to one knee in the fourth round. By the fifth, Dutchover had knockout on his mind.

 

 

 

“Once I started letting my hands go, that’s when things started opening up,” said Dutchover, who is promoted by Banner Promotions and Thompson Boxing. “In the third round I turned up the pace. By the fourth everything started to click. I rocked him with some body shots and got a knockdown. I knew he was getting tired. I knew my punches were wearing him out so I made the choice to take him out in the fifth.”

Ruben Villa Returns to Action Aug. 24 from Omega Products in Corona, PIEMĒRAM,

The southpaw from Salinas, Calif. battles well tested veteran Jose Santos Gonzalez (23-6, 13 Kos) of Mexico in the “Locked n’ Loaded” 8-round main event.

 

 

 

Villa, 21, has fought veterans before, specifically Ernesto Guerrero and German Meraz. The seasoned Gonzalez poses a threat in the sense that he’s been in the ring against current bantamweight title holder Zolani Tete, and unbeaten contender Duke Micah.

 

 

 

“These are the types of fights that help you grow into a better fighter,” said Villa, who is managed by Danny Zamora. “We have a smart game plan in place. I’m naturally bigger than him so we’ll use that to our advantage.”

 

 

 

Villa, a two-time national Golden Gloves champion, is coming off an impressive sixth round knockout of Ricardo Lopez in June. The talented featherweight showed off his finishing ability by out boxing Lopez until the knockout moment presented itself.

 

 

 

“I was landing solid punches in every round,” remarked Villa after the fight. “I knew I would be able to take him out. I wore him down and in the sixth, I just let me hands go and I caught him with a lot of heavy punches.”

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. / ORANGE, Calif. (Jūlijs 23, 2018) – Junior lightweight Michael Dutchover (10-0, 7 Kos), captivated a sold-out crowd with an electrifying one-punch knockout of Sergio Ramirez (4-3, 4 Kos) Piektdiena night from the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Calif.

The closeout punch, a right hand on Ramirez’s chin, occurred at the :43 atzīme otrajā kārtā.
“I timed it just right,” said the 20-year-old Dutchover. “He came at me with a lazy punch, and I just unloaded that right hand, and he dropped like a fly.”
Dutchover barely broke a sweat in his tenth career win. The Texas native, who conducts his training camps in Los Angeles with trainer and manager Danny Zamora, made his 8-round debut, but clearly didn’t need the rounds to score what is likely his most emphatic win to date.
“You go into every fight expecting a tough challenge,” Dutchover said. “I was ready to go the full eight rounds, but I’m glad I was able to end it early and give the fans something to talk about.”

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. / ORANGE, Calif. (Jūlijs 13, 2018) – Michael Dutchover (9-0, 6 Kos), who is among the brightest young talents in the junior lightweight division, takes the next step in his professional career when he headlines “Path to Glory” piektdien, Jūlijs 20.

 

 

 

The marquee attraction is Dutchover’s first since turning professional nearly two years ago. The 20-year-old out of Midland, Tex. faces Mexico’s Sergio Ramirez (4-2, 4 Kos)from the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Calif.

 

 

 

“It’s an incredible feeling to be in the main event,” said Dutchover, who signed with Banner Promotions and Thompson Boxing in 2016. “Everything has moved really fast for me. It wasn’t too long ago that I was on undercards fighting four round fights.”

 

 

 

Patiešām, Dutchover has exceeded expectations with the pace of his development. His first six fights were of the 4-round variety, followed by three 6-rounders, and next Friday’s clash, his tenth, is set for 8-rounds.

 

 

 

“It’s the next step up for me,” said Dutchover, who is trained and managed by Danny Zamora. “I feel comfortable going all eight rounds, but hopefully I can end it early.”

MICHAEL DUTCHOVER REMAINS UNDEFEATED WITH A 3RD ROUND STOPPAGE OVER MIKE FOWLER

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. / ORANGE, Calif. (Maijs 14, 2018) – Top junior lightweight prospect Michael Dutchover (9-0, 6 Kos) of Midland, Tex. continues to improve on his advanced skill set. He knocked out Mike Fowler (6-15, 2 Kos) trešajā kārtā (1:19) after landing consecutive body shots that sapped the air out of Fowler’s lungs.

 

 

 

The fight took place this past Friday night at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Kalifornija.

 

 

 

Dutchover proved his talent early by connecting with body shots in the second round that floored the shorter Fowler. Dutchover, 20, rarely got hit and displayed superior hand speed and excellent instincts.

 

 

 

“I wanted to start fast and not have to go the full six rounds,” said Dutchover, who was an outstanding cross country runner in high school. “I figured him out pretty quickly. He wasn’t covering up well and I took advantage.”

Ruben Villa Wins WBO Youth Title Saturday Night in Front of Hometown Fans

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. / ORANGE, Calif. (Aprīlis 16, 2018) – Prized prospect Ruben Villa(11-0, 4 Kos) continued his upward trajectory by thoroughly dismantling Marlon Olea (13-3, 12 Kos) to win the vacant WBO Youth Featherweight Title Saturday night from his hometown of Salinas, Calif.

 

 

 

 

Villa, just days before his twenty-first birthday, headlined his first event and won his first title in front of a raucous home crowd. The southpaw delivered an impressive performance, winning every round on all three scorecards (80-72 x3).

 

 

 

 

“It’s exactly how I wanted to end this night,” said Villa, who is promoted by Banner Promotions and Thompson Boxing. “I blocked out the crowd and just did what I had to do. Olea moves around a lot, but I was able to land whatever I wanted.”

 

 

 

 

After a feeling out first round, Villa turned up the heat in the second. Both hands began to split Olea’s guard, which became a constant theme throughout the 8-round title fight.

 

 

 

 

As in his other fights, Villa consistently landed a seldom used punch by most boxers, a stiff jab to the midsection that neutralized the Colombian’s attack.

I feel confident in what I want to do against Olea.”

 

 

 

 

In addition to making his first headlining appearance on “Jaunais asins,” Villa also fights for the first time at 8-rounds. He is coming off three straight 6-round unanimous decision victories. Until recently, Villa had won every round on every scorecard in his six decision wins with the exception of dropping one round on one scoresheet against Juan Sandoval in February.

 

 

 

 

Olea, for what it’s worth, holds a unanimous decision loss to WBA world champion Danny Roman from November of 2016. That matchup was contested at 122-pounds, while Saturday night’s fight is set for 126-pounds. Villa would appear to have the size advantage, as he is a natural featherweight with room to fill out as he gets older.

 

 

 

 

“In this sport, you take any advantage you can get,” Villa remarked. “He’s still a talented guy so I can’t get over confident on that.”
