Selina Barrios vs. Lisa Porter NABF Lightweight Title On The Line

On the line will be the NABF lightweight title, as both fighters were granted by the NABF committee to fight for this respected belt. The 10-round bout will take place at the Coliseum Parrokkjali rapides fuq Diċembru 29, 2017, f'Lixandra, LA. The only other female pro to fight for a major title this quickly is 2-time gold medalist Clarissa Shields.
When everyone in the lightweight division has refused to fight Barrios or Porter, the two agreed to fight each other. Barrios is a winner of four Ringside World Amateur Titles to go along with her many national championships. Porter was a decorated amateur herself, winning three National PAL championships, US Golden Gloves, and was a US National Silver medalist. Both fighters are coming in with undefeated records.
To put things in perspective, Distretti’ last opponent Jasmine Clarkson, was world champion Katie Taylor’s sixth opponent, before Taylor fought for the WBA world title. In Porter’s case, she fought to a draw with Katonya Fisher, who defeated Jessica McCaskill, who is just went the distance with Taylor for WBA world title.
I’m very excited to be fighting for the NABF title,” said Selina Barrios. “All I want is an opportunity to win a world title, and winning the NABF belt will get me closer to my dream of becoming a world champion. I’m glad Selina Barrios and I have come to an agreement to make this fight happen, especially for the NABF title,” stated Lisa Porter. “It’s been tough getting opponents to step in the ring with me, so this is truly a blessing. I’m very grateful to the folks at the NABF for sanctioning this fight. Selina Barrios is going to be a tough test, but one I believe I can pass. The fans are going to see a great fight.
With Selina being the most avoided female fighter in boxing, I had to do my part on getting her ranked by the NABF,” said advisor Kerry Daigle. “It’s not going to be an easy road to the top. There’s a lot of good fighters out there with a lot of experience that she’s going to have to fight. That will be the case when Selina steps in the ring with Lisa Porter, who has a plethora of amateur experience. She, also is one of the most avoided fighters in the lightweight division. This will be a battle of two fighters who are putting everything on the line to advance their career to the next level.

Damon Jackson is a UFC vet and former Legacy champion that is coming off an impressive submission win at LFA 16,” Iddikjarat Soares. “He will face his longtime rival Luis Luna, who has been wanting a rematch with Jackson for over four and a half years. LFA started at The Bomb Factory in Dallas in January and returned in July. We will continue our exciting history in Big D next week at LFA 28.
Tickets for LFA 28 – Jackson vs. Luna are available for purchase NOW at TheBombFactory.com.
Jackson (12-2-1) comes into this fight looking to remind people that history has a way of repeating itself in the world of combat sports. In April 2013, Jackson faced Luna (14-6) in his fifth professional fight. The bout was Luna’s eleventh as a professional fighter. Jackson won the bout via armbar, but not without a bit of controversy.
The fight was back and forth until Jackson landed an illegal knee to a downed opponent in Round 1. The referee stopped the action and re-centered the fighters, but Luna was angry. When Jackson put his hand out to touch gloves, Luna ignored the gesture and threw a left hook and a flurry of punches that dropped Jackson. The NAIA All-American, Jackson, used his elite wrestling skills to survive the round.
In Round 2, both fighters came out firing. Luna gained top position off a trip that he utilized during the early striking exchange. Jackson, who is a master scrambler and appropriately nicknamedThe Leech”, quickly got back to his feet and landed a double-leg takedown. He then advanced seamlessly into a full mount. After raining down some ground and pound, Luna turned and Jackson moved with him, while transitioning into a fight-ending belly down armbar at the 1:15 mark of Round 2.
Jackson got the win that night, but Luna feels that the fight is not finished. While Jackson went on to gain fame fighting for Legacy FC, UFC, and LFA, Luna also elevated his profile by fighting in Legacy FC and is widely considered one of the top lightweights in the state of Texas. While Jackson is looking to have history repeat itself, Luna is aiming to prove another old adage. That would be the one that says lightning never strikes twice in the same place. Therein, as the Bard would tell us, lies the rub. The LFA 28 headliner will settle this bad blood rivalry, while also determining which maxim expresses the most truth.

Edmonton, Kanada (Ottubru 25, 2017) The final quarterfinals round match-up of the entertaining World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) tournament is on tap din il-ġimgħa when former two-time world light heavyweight champion Juergen Braehmer faces undefeated challenger Rob “Prosit” Brant, airing exclusively in Canada on Super Channel, live from Kongresshalle in Schwerin, Il-Ġermanja.
Il “Braehmer vs. Brant” card, jibda 2 p.m. U / 11 a.m. PT,completes live quarterfinals coverage of the WBSS tournament for Canadian boxing fans, exclusively on Canada’s boxing destination network, Super Channel, which acquired the rights in Canada to broadcast the World Boxing Super Series from MP & Silva, midja internazzjonali impriża ewlenija li tipprovdi drittijiet tal-midja, diġitali, teknoloġija u sponsorjar servizzi.
The 39-year-old Braehmer (48-3, 35 Kos) is a former World Boxing Association (WBA) u Organizzazzjoni Dinjija Boxing (WBO) world light heavyweight champion who has dropped down in weight to compete in the WBSS super middleweight tournament.
The hard-hitting German is 9-1 in world title fights and the skilled southpaw has defeated two world champions, Hector Javier Velazco u Enzo Maccarinelli. Braehmer will also have the advantage of fighting Brant at home.
I am very excited that this bout is going to take place in my hometown of Schwerin,” Braehmer said. “Fil-qasir, I cannot wait to start my journey to win the Ali Trophy. I jħossuhom tajjeb, top motivated. “I am not underestimating Brant, but I am in this tournament to win it. Fl-età ta ' 39, this is my last chance to achieve something big, and I’m going to take advantage of the opportunity.
(L-R) — Juergen Braehmer & Rob Brant
Brant (22-0, 15 Kos), fighting out of Saint Paul, Minnesota, was the only American boxer selected to compete in the WBSS. Unlike Braehmer, madankollu, Brant has moved up one weight class to participate in the WBSS tournament. He is the reigning North American Boxing Association (Wkoll) champion middleweight.
Braehmer is well accomplished and a proven boxer worldwide with star power in his own country,” the 27-year-old underdog Brant noted. “I have no problem going into his backyard for a fight, he is a seeded fighter in this tournament.
I feel this is a pure crossroads fight containing a proven well-known fighter toward the end of his career against a hot prospect looking to make his name in the sport. I feel confident in winning this fight as does everybody in my training circle. After researching Schwerin, I am excited to compete in such a beautiful and historic city.
Juergen has done it all, seen it all, but he hasn’t fought me. I am very confident that I will win nhar il-Ġimgħa. I have to be sharp mentally, but I feel in better shape than ever in every way. I know it’s a cliché to say that, imma nhar il-Ġimgħa the crowd and the world will see what I am talking about.
The Braehmer-Brant winner will advance to the WBSS semifinals early next year for a world title shot against unbeaten Brit Callum “dinja” Smith (23-0, 17 Kos), who last month won a 12-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Erik Skoglund (26-1, 12 Kos), of Sweden, in their WBSS quarterfinals match.
Five exciting matches on theBraehmer vs. Brant” card, promoted by Sauerland Event, will air in Canada exclusively on Super Channel. The Braehmer vs. Brant 12-round main event is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. U / 2 p.m. PT.
The 10-round co-feature is a WBSS Substitute Fight between former Interim WBA upper middleweight champion Vincent Feigenbutz (27-2, 23 Kos), tal-Ġermanja, and his Argentinian opponent, Gaston Alejandro Vega (27-11-2, 11 Kos).

Unbeaten Polish Contender Battles Former Title Challenger Jack Culcay Saturday, Ottubru 21 from Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

NEWARK, N.J. (Ottubru 13, 2017) – Unbeaten contender Maciej Sulecki will face his toughest competition since moving to the super welterweight division when he takes on former title challenger Jack Culcay in a special undercard attraction on IS-SIBT, Ottubru 21 from Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
Sulecki was unbeaten in his first 23 tissielet pro, all at middleweight, including a dominant stoppage of then unbeaten contender Hugo Centeno Jr. f'Ġunju 2016. He’s scored two straight knockouts in 2017 after making the move down to 154-pounds.
My promoter suggested I move down in weight so I tested it, and I liked it right away,” said Sulecki. “I’m a very stubborn man, who will most likely do the opposite of what I’m told, but this has made me a better fighter. I’m happy to be part of this division. I have the same strength, but with more speed and more precision in my punches.
Culcay won eight fights in a row from 2013 biex 2016, including a decision over Maurice Weber that helped him capture an interim super welterweight title in 2015. He continued to defend that belt until losing a close split-decision to Demetrius Andrade in a world title showdown in March.
On paper he is my toughest opponent,” said Sulecki. “You never know what will happen. I hope that Culcay is as good as advertised. He’s an intelligent fighter, he moves well and is technically skilled. It could have been an off night, but he made Andrade look bad in their bout.
I never thought that Culcay would fight outside of Germany, but I’m glad that he changed his mind. He will be a great addition to my resume of victories. I am an aggressive fighter, but I’m going to replace aggression with terror for this fight. I’m going to terrorize him from the opening bell.
If Sulecki can live up to his words on October 21, a world title shot in the deep and talented 154-pound division could be on the horizon.
Everyone knows that I want the belt as soon as possible,” said Sulecki. “This is a great chance for me to prove I deserve it. I couldn’t imagine a better place to have a real evenly-matched fight. I know the crazy Polish fans will be in the building and cheering hard. What more motivation could I need to be at my best?”
Il Ottubru 21 event is headlined by the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight quarterfinal showdown between IBF Champion murat Gassievand former cruiserweight world champion Krzysztof WLODARCZYK live on AUDIENCE Network. Featured bouts also include Polish contender Mateusz Masternak facing once-beaten Stivens Bujaj in a WBSS cruiserweight reserve match.
Promoted by Ringstar Sports in association with World Boxing Super Series, tickets for the live event are on sale now and are available atTicketmaster.com. Tickets are also available to purchase at the Prudential Center box office.
