Cherry of Wauchula, Florida has had a smooth camp while training in the Sunshine State and is ready for the 46th start of his professional start.
“Ĉio estas bona, and we will be prepared for everything on 4a de aprilo,” said the 34-year-old Cherry.
“Sur 4a de aprilo, whatever Douglas brings, we will be prepared for. This is not the first time, that I’ve been in this position. He is the guy who has to prove he can perform. I have been there before, so the pressure is on him.
Cherry has been a top contender at both the 130 Kaj 135 funto dividoj, and he even challenged for a world title at 140 Funtoj. He believes there are many reasons that he has remained a viable contender who has only lost once in the last nine years and 13 Bataloj.
I am motivated and I believe in myself,” said Cherry. “Those are the reasons that I am still here at the top of the 130 Kaj 135 divisions. My family gives me drive every day. 4a de aprilo will be another great fight. This is my job and I have to go out and do it well.
Cherry believes a win should gain him another crack at a world title.
A win definitely puts me ahead. It will open doors for better fights and better paydays. A title shot is what I want. But also a bigger money fight that will take care of my family.
Douglas has been training at home in Delaware, has been working hard for this fight, which could be a breakthrough fight on the heels of his narrow defeat to former world champion Javier Fortuna last November.
“#?Io estas granda. This has been a long camp. I have been getting great work,” Diris la 26- year-old Douglas.
I am the better fighter. I have known about him for a long time. I watched him a lot when he fought Vendrede Noktaj Bataloj.”
That fight with Fortuna was a major step up, and Douglas had a lot of positive moments, as he dropped the former champion in the 1st round, only to lose by three points on two cards and one point on a third card.
The Fortuna fight let me know and let the people know that Omar Douglas is a world class fighter. Even in a loss, people did not expect me to do well. I thought that I showed a lot that night and I will carry that confidence into this fight on 4a de aprilo.”
Douglas believes that a win over Cherry is his path to a world title.
I think that it is time. I just happen to be crossing paths with Cherry. This fight makes sense for me. I will let people know that I am player at 130 Funtoj, and a win will earn me a title shot. I have shown that I will fight anyone. Look at the records of my previous opponents. Fortuna was 30-1 and one fight removed from being a world champion. Alexei Collado was 19-1; Frank De Alba was 17-1. So wins over those guys plus Cherry should have me right there, but I am focusing on Edner Cherry. He is a great veteran, Sed marde night I will be victorious.

The 22-year-old is unbeaten since turning pro in 2014 and will be looking to make it a perfect 11 wins in 11 pro starts when he enters the ring on Aprilo 4.
Profesia pro tio ke 2013, Rosario fights out of Cidra, Puerto Rico and was unbeaten in his first six bouts before making his U.S. debut in June 2015 with a third-round knockout of Aaron Hollis in Alabama. He followed that up in Cincinnati with a fourth-round stoppage of Aaron Hollis and most recently he won an eight-round decision over Saul Hernandez.
The 29-year-old De Alba had a 19 fight unbeaten streak snapped in December 2015, when he dropped a narrow majority decision to unbeaten Omar Douglas, but he has rebounded with four straight victories since. His last win came over German Meraz in February and he will be fighting for the fourth time at Sands Bethlehem on Aprilo 4.
A runner-up in the 2008 National Golden Glove tournament, the 27-year-old Kielczweski has an exciting style and always makes competitive fights. Born and raised in Quincy, MA., he won his first first 22 pro fights and enters this contest a winner of four of his last five outings. Most recently he scored a first round knockout over Francisco Medel in December 2016.

Jen kion la batalantoj devis diri #?A?do:
JAMEL HERRING
“Tendaro estis granda. I started in Cincinnati and finished in D.C. with Barry Hunter, Patrice Harris and of course Mike Stafford. During my time in D.C., I sparred with Lamont Peterson, who turned southpaw for me.
I have a great deal of respect for Shafikov. Tough guy, experienced but he had his chance and it’s my time now. This is my toughest fight on paper but I feel good. It’s my time to earn my respect.
It’s a huge honor and blessing to headline on ESPN on 4th of July weekend. I want to put on a good show,
Its extra special to honor on this weekend, being that I was a marine and to headline and I want to put on a patriotic and great performance.
I believe a win will open the doors for a world title. En mia menso, I am taking this fight as a world title fight. That is how important this fight is and before the end of the year, I hope to get a crack at a world title.
DENIS SHAFIKOV
Everything went well in camp. We had a four-month camp. We were supposed to fight a couple of months ago but when that fight was cancelled, Denis relaxed for a minute and then this opportunity came up.
Herring has a great record and he represented the U.S. in the Olympics. He is still young and I feel that my experience will be the determining factor.
I accepted this fight because a win gets us in line for big opportunities, including another shot at a world championship.
PATRYK SZYMANSKI
I’m excited about the opportunity to take on an experienced opponent. I think it will be a good test for me and a chance to show off my skills.
I’ve worked very hard so that I can leave an impression with my performance. These are the kind of fights that I have to win and win in style if I want to reach my goals in this sport.
Wilky CAMP FORT
“Trejnanta tendaron iris tre bone. I don’t know too much about my opponent but I did see him fight once in Tampa. Venita SabatoNokto, I will see what he has.
It means a lot to fight on ESPN. The first fight that I saw that involved a fellow Haitian was Daniel Edouard on ESPN and it gave me a lot of motivation to pursue my career.
I am not only fighting for myself, but all of the people in Haiti and Florida that have been supporting me.
A win will put me right back into where I was when I had my long winning streak. A win will put me back in the mix at 154-pounds.

BETHLEHEM, PA. (Aprilo 20, 2016) – Ivan Redkach (19-1-1, 15 KOs) Kaj Luis Cruz (22-4-1, 16 KOs) fought to a split draw and both scored knockdowns Mardo night in an exciting main event on Superegaj Boksaj #?ampiono (PBC)TOE-al-piedfingra Tuesdays sur FS1 kaj Boksado Ĉampionoj on FOX Deportes from Sands Bethlehem Events Center in Bethlehem, Pa.
In early action, Cruz began to establish his straight right hand when he knocked Redkach off balance and sent him to the canvas in round two. The Puerto Rican veteran controlled much of the early rounds with that right hand, great movement and overall boxing ability.
Redkach was aggressive throughout, #?Eti 602 punches over the 10-round bout to Cruz’s 485. Tamen, Cruz’s 33 percent connect rate was good enough for him to dominate the first half of the fight.
La 2008 Ukranian Olympian began to find a landing zone for his big left hand as the fight wore on and late in round eight he landed one cleanly on Cruz that dropped him hard. Redkach was then awarded a controversial knockdown in an explosive ninth round when Cruz fell to the mat on what he said was a slip as a result of a push.
Both men emptied the tank in the final round knowing that one punch could change the outcome of the fight and ended with several flurries. The scores after 10 rounds were razor thin at 94-93 for Redkach, 94-93 Cruz and 94-94, resulting in the split draw.
The co-main event of the evening featured a fast pace brawl that saw unbeaten prospect Immanuwel Aleem (16-0, 9 KOs) earn a hard fought victory over Jonathan Cepeda (17-2, 15 KOs) in their eight-round middleweight contest.
Aleem and Cepeda traded power punches all fight long, with Cepeda taking the brunt of the punishment as he was out landed 272 Al 107. Aleem was superior in all regards as he also landed an impressive 42 Procento de liaj totalaj stampiloj.
Cepeda refused to surrender however and used a powerful right hook to occasionally stun Aleem. The still unbeaten prospect was always able to return any punishment and then some, winning by the score of 79-73 Sur ĉiuj tri juĝistoj’ scorecards.
In the televised opener unbeaten middleweight prospects collided as Junior Castillo (10-0, 9 KOs) earned a unanimous decision over Kyrone Davis (10-1, 4 KOs) in a competitive eight-round affair.
The Delaware-native Davis was impressive early with his movement and boxing abilities but the southpaw Castillo was soon able to time his opponent and land left hands to the head and body.
In the fourth round, Castillo hurt and dropped Davis in the middle of the round with a left hand after an exchange. Neither man allowed the other to gain too much momentum throughout the remainder of the fight, but it was Castillo’s output advantage of 117-92 that bettered Davisaccuracy advantage of 36 percent to 30 Procento.
Castillo won the decision by scores of 78-73, 77-74 Kaj 76-75.
Jen kion la batalantoj devis diri Mardo:
IVAN REDKACH
I think I won, but it was a good fight.
The knockdown I suffered was me losing my balance. I felt I controlled the fight because I knocked him down twice. I thought I could have stopped him after the first knockdown.
I am not going to argue with the decision but I feel I won the fight.
LUIS CRUZ
I thought the last knockdown was a slip. That was the difference between the draw and my win.
I hurt him. I had the power. I tried to work round-by-round. I feel that I won six rounds and that the knockdown cost me the win.
I thought I fought well. The draw was better than a loss. Why not a rematch? He is strong and dangerous. He hits hard but I know I am better than him.
IMMANUWEL ALEEM
He was a tough guy. I hit him with some good shots but he kept his ground. I respect that.
I was trying to take my time to get him out. I was being hasty. I was trying to get him every chance I got but he was tough. I am a student of the game and I was taking my time.
My manager George Peterson has a resume of building up Paul Williams and I trust what he has in store for me. He knows what I am capable of doing. We will go after everybody, just like Paul did.
JUNIOR CASTILLO
It was a very good fight. I had some difficulty at first but I felt confident that I would be victorious.
I kept consistent with my game plan and I was able to knock him down. I thought I would be able to finish him but I got too wild.
It feels good to defeat an undefeated prospect and also go the distance. I have never gone the distance before.
I want some kind of title fight. My confidence is much higher right.
KYRONE DAVIS
I felt like it was a good fight. I feel like I won. I thought the crowd swayed the judges. I felt like I won but that’s how it goes sometimes.
“78-73 was too wide. I controlled the first two rounds. He crossed over and hit me with a good shot. He may have won the knockdown round and the last round.
If he gives me a rematch, I would love it. This is just a minor setback. I will improve after this fight and I will move forward.

CALIFORNIA, PA. (Septembro 16, 2015) – Sergeant Sammy “The Who Can Meksika” Vasquez (20-0, 14 KOs)put on a show Mardo night for his hometown fans on his way to fifth-round stoppage of Jose “Piŝto” Lopez (25-4-1, 15 KOs) Sur Superegaj Boksaj #?ampiono (PBC) TOE-al-piedfingra Tuesdays on FS1 and FOX Deportes from the Convocation Center at California State University of Pennsylvania in California, PA.
Vasquez came out strong from the start, beating the hard-charging Lopez to the punch consistently in the early rounds. In the fourth round, Vasquez wobbled Lopez several times with hard combinations.
In the fifth round Vasquez took over the fight, dropping him early in the round with another flurry. Lopez was able to barely beat the count, but only lasted a few moments longer when Vasquez dropped him with another combination, prompting referee Gary Rosato to put a halt to fight 1:08 into the round.
Vasquez was dangerously effective with his power punches, #Alteri?i 108 el 189 thrown, giving him a 57.1 percentage with those punches. The hometown favorite had won every round on the judgesscorecards at the time of the stoppage.
En la malfermo televisado bout, Omar “Super O” Douglas (15-0, 11 KOs) remained undefeated by beating Braulio Santos (22-2-1, 15 KOs) by unanimous decision in a rough and tumble fight. Both men were deducted a point over the 10-rounds, with Douglas losing a point in round four for hits behind the head and Santos being deducted for low blows in round seven.
Douglas started the fight fast, attacking the body and earning a first round knockdown with a stiff jab that caught Santos off-guard. Douglas followed that up in round two, connecting on a left hook that sent Santos to the canvas.
Douglas had a decided advantage in power punches landed with a 165-117 discrepancy, per CompuBox. La fina juĝistoj totaloj estis 99-87, 97-89 Kaj 96-90.
SAMMY VASQUEZ
He was real wild and the last thing I wanted was to get caught with a lucky shot. His body was wide open every time he came with the right hand. When he came in with the double right hand he left his ribs wide open.
I wanted to key-in on the body, but his head was right there. He bent over and was ready to take punches.
I was ready for him and I put the speed combo on him and it was over. I knew I was going to get him out of there.
I rolled with the punches with him. He was leaving himself wide open. He got tired after he tried to get me on the ropes. Once I popped him with a couple uppercuts and a hook, I knew I hurt him.
He came forward, he was very tough. He just wanted to punish me but I keyed in on my opportunities and got him out of there.
I knew I could get him out of there because of the type of fighter that he is and the skill-set that I have and that’s what we did.
Everybody in front of me is on my mind. I can only get to the top by beating the people in front of me. I’m not calling out any names, because I want every person ranked in front of me. I want everyone.
JOSE LOPEZ
I wanted to attack the body and put some pressure on him from the first round.
He moved very well side-to-side. He is a very good boxer.
I am very disappointed. Mi venis ĉi tie gajni.”
OMAR DOUGLAS
The jab is always a great weapon for me. He gave me more head movement after I was landing the jab. I tried to use the jab to the body and hurt him a few times. He was so short I had trouble throwing body shots.
On the second knockdown I feinted the jab and got him with the left hook. I should have done that all night. There were a lot of opportunities for me.
It was a tough fight. It was the kind of fight that I needed. I haven’t had a tough fight like that in a long time.
He laid in the middle, a bit of a rough guy. He was head butting, pulling and everything. When we got inside we banged heads a lot. The ref was saying I was hitting on the top of the head, but he was coming in so low.
I’ve done much better work before, he definitely gave me a tough fight, but I expected it.
I want to fight guys with winning records. I expect tough fights. I’m 15-0 now and I expect challenges.
BRAULIO SANTOS
It was a hard fight. I’m not sure that I won, but I thought it was closer.
I didn’t have that long to train and this is not a weight I usually fight at. I’d like to fight him again and have more time to prepare.
