KEITH THURMAN SUSTAINS INJURY FORCING POSTPONEMENT OF TITLE DEFENSE AGAINST SHAWN PORTER
DiBella Entertainment, Mohegan Sun and Showtime Evaluating Options to Continue with the Remainder of the Mars 12 Carte de combat
NEW YORK (Février. 22, 2016)–Undefeated world champion Keith Thurman sustained an injury as a result of a car accident that has forced his Mars 12 welterweight title defense against Shawn Porter to be postponed. The announcement was made today by promoter Lou DiBella, president of DiBella Entertainment. According to his doctors, Thurman’s injuries are not considered serious and he is expected to be cleared to resume training in the coming weeks. Thurman vs. Porter was the main event of a scheduled two-fight card to be broadcast in prime time on CBS. This fight and the network broadcast will now be rescheduled for a later date.
DiBella Entertainment, Mohegan Sun and Showtime are evaluating the option of continuing with the remainder of the fight card on Samedi, Mars 12 with a transition of television coverage to SHOWTIME. Complete details are forthcoming.
“While it’s unfortunate that we must temporarily postpone this marquee matchup, a main event of the magnitude of Thurman vs. Porter requires both fighters be healthy and at their best.” said DiBella. “Keith is anxious to resume training as soon he is able and both he and Shawn are looking forward to a new fight date.”

Odom, un amateur de haut et 2012 Champion national des Golden Gloves à 178 livres qui cherchait à renverser la vapeur après avoir perdu deux de ses trois derniers, était satisfait de la décision, même s'il sentait qu'il avait gagné son premier combat dans sept mois.
"Je ne peux pas être déçu de la décision parce que je me suis battu à fond". Odom a déclaré. "Je sais que je l'ai blessé. Il m'a fait un peu mal dans la seconde, mais je me suis remis sur pied et j'ai continué.

Dit Farhood: "Ellis-Odom était un combat étrange. Parfois, c'était une bagarre, et parfois c'était un match de boxe. A l'heure, un combattant s'est avancé et parfois l'autre combattant s'est avancé. Je pensais qu'Odom en avait fait assez au cours des deux derniers tours pour sauver un match nul et il s'avère que c'est ce que les juges ont marqué, un tirage au sort. Williams, invaincu auparavant, a avoué qu'il était incapable de suivre son rythme. "Pour certaines raisons, Je ne pouvais simplement pas me détacher. J'ai eu un rhume, mais je n'enlèverai rien à Foster. Il m'a renversé, mais je pensais qu'il m'avait poussé la plupart du temps.
«J'ai appris quelque chose ce soir. Je ne peux pas faire ce que j'ai fait. Je ne peux pas attendre mon adversaire. Je dois attaquer en premier. Je serai de retour. "
Il n'y a eu aucun renversement dans la bataille Brooker-Magda. Un juge a marqué pour gaucher et favori local entrant, Magda 77-74, on l'avait 78-74 pour Brooker et on l'avait 76-76 même.

"Je me sens bien, mais ce fut un combat difficile,»A déclaré Magda. "Il est resté sur moi et a avancé, que nous savions qu'il le ferait. Mais il était plus fort que je ne le pensais. Je vais devoir revoir la cassette, mais je pensais avoir décroché les coups les plus efficaces. »

LAS VEGAS (Février 19, 2016) – Welterweight star “Showtime” Shawn Porteropened up his training camp to media Jeudi at Porter Hy-Performance Center in Las Vegas as he prepares for his primetime showdown with welterweight world champion Keith “One Time” Thurman sur Samedi, Mars 12 on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING on CBS presented by Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) from Mohegan Sun Resort in Connecticut.
L'action télévisée commence à 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT with an all-action showdown between former multiple division world champions Abner Mares et Fernando Montiel.
Porter worked out for media along with his father and trainer, Ken Porter as he looks to become a welterweight world champion for the second time. Porter defeated multiple-division champion Adrien Broner in a primetime PBC main event last year and is looking to again find success under the bright lights.

“Training camp is going great. It’s been hard work as always and nothing really different specifically for this fight. Obviously it is always a different game plan for a different fighter but that’s about it.
“I’m not making too many adjustments from my previous fight, just taking what I learn from each fight and take those learning experiences with you. Going into this fight we will definitely have some of our past experiences show up.
“It is getting closer. I feel it every day. It’s approaching and the excitement is brewing. The closer it gets the more excited and more focused that I get.
On being perceived as the underdog…
“I do not feel like I am coming in as the underdog. In order to be the champion, vous devez battre le champion. That is my outlook on this fight, not only to outpoint him but to make it very decisive and dominate the fight.
”My motivation is to prove the doubters wrong.
“I have faced a tougher opposition than Keith Thurman. I feel like that may work most to my advantage. I think that there will come points in this fight where I will put him up against things that he has never been up against. It is all about how he reacts to what I throw at him.
“My plan is to go in there and shake him up, make him uncomfortable and carry the fight just like that.

“We’re going to be aggressive, we’re going to be smart, we’re looking beyond this fight.
“In my last fight I didn’t get hit very much and I am taking that same mindset and defense into this fight.
On being the next Floyd Mayweather Jr…
“I am expecting to beat Keith and be the guy that everyone looks at.
“When you go up against someone at a high level like this, you go up and you show out.
“As far as Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, I think those faces are going away. The welterweight class is exciting and there’s going to be a new face on the top of that ranking. I’d like that face to be me.
“I don’t make any predictions; I just know I am going to win.
“I have been waiting for this fight since 2013. I had just gotten my title then and I could see the way his career was moving that there was a collision course. We didn’t know how long this fight would take to happen or when it would happen, but we knew it was coming.
“When I was told this fight was happening all I could think was ‘Ok, let’s do it’ and it took some time to make the fight happen but when we finally did our faceoff, it felt great to look him in the eyes and let him know ‘I’m coming after you.’
“For me to fight Keith it has always been something that was a part of my career, all business not personal. It was just something that I needed to do to get to where I want to be.
“Keith Thurman is a good fighter. Nothing really sticks out to me as something I should worry about. He’s a good athlete and a good boxer, but he is very beatable, he just hasn’t been beat yet.
“You’re only as good as you’re last competition. If you look at the Kell Brook fight, I was not as good as I should’ve been. Since then I am very good, but still I feel that you are only as good as your last fight until you prove otherwise.
“It is and isn’t personal. For Keith to be considered one of the top dogs in this weight class, it is personal to me to beat him and reign over him. Other than that, it is all business.”

On being his son’s trainer…
“Because I have the history of working with a lot of top-level amateurs who have moved on to the professional level, I think that Shawn sees that in me as an edge.”
On his history with Keith Thurman…

"Je sais que je n'avais 14 combats, mais je sens vraiment que je suis prêt pour un combat majeur ou un tir au titre à la fin de l'année. J'ai une solide expérience amateur, j'ai donc de l'expérience. Il y a beaucoup de bons combats en ce moment à 122 livres. La division est chaude.
"Je me suis battu 118 la dernière fois afin que je puisse faire ce poids si la bonne occasion se présente, mais je suis fort 122. Je pensais avoir clairement gagné mon dernier combat. Je ne pense pas que c'était aussi proche que les juges l'ont dit.
"Je me bats contre un gars, Munoz, qui est une sorte de mystère pour moi. J'ai vu une bande de lui, mais c'était de 2012. Donc je ne sais pas vraiment comment il s'est battu récemment.
"Il semble vouloir boxer et limace. Il a eu de bonnes performances dans le passé et en a combattu de bonnes alors je ne lui enlèverai rien et je le respecte.
"Mais je suis prêt à faire le combat et à être agresseur si nécessaire, et pour gagner de toute façon que je dois. Mon entraîneur [ancien double champion du monde Carlos «célèbre» Hernandez] continue de travailler sur toutes les petites choses, et me forme pour tout ce qui pourrait arriver sur ma route..
"Je sens que je suis passé de prospect à concurrent, mais une victoiredemain la nuit devrait le prouver à tout le monde. »

«C'est mon premier combat en neuf mois et premier en Amérique, ce qui est très excitant. Vous devez finalement vous battre aux États-Unis; c'est là que tu te fais connaître.
"Je sais que je suis en pleine forme. J'ai combattu quelques bons gars dans ma division, et je suis au niveau dont j'ai besoin. J'ai eu un camp d'entraînement vraiment dur; Je sais ce que je suis censé faire.
"Je suis reconnaissant de cette opportunité. Je sais que beaucoup de gens n'ont pas entendu parler de moi, mais je vous promets un bon combat.
"Je suis plus un boxeur qu'un puncheur, mais j'aime échanger et changer de position pour gaucher, bien que mon entraîneur ne l'aime pas.
"Lopez est très rapide, intelligent et a une grande main gauche. Mais je suis prêt pour tout ça. Je vais regarder ce qu'il a à offrir et contrer de mon mieux.

"Je cherche à briller vendredi, surtout après ma dernière ShoBox combattre que j'ai perdu. Je n'aurais jamais dû me battre une fois qu'il est entré en surpoids. Ce fut une mauvaise décision commerciale de ma part, mais j'ai appris - plus de réflexion avec mon cœur.
"J'ai surmonté mon dernier combat tout de suite et j'ai hâte de faire mon travail et de montrer combien j'ai gagné et appris de cela. Je me sens certainement prêt. Mon seul objectif est de gagner.

"Je suis naturellement gaucher ... je me suis battu contre des boxeurs ambidextres, donc j'aime dire que je suis prêt à tout ce qui vient à ma rencontre.
"Je suis ravi de faire mes débuts à la télévision nationale. C’est un gros problème pour moi donc j’ai besoin de faire un super show. Surtout pour ma base de fans à la maison, ils vont tous regarder.

(Février. 16, 2016) – Spain’s Kiko “Sensación” Martinez is a soft-spoken, hard-hitting former IBF Super Bantamweight World Champion and a three-time European champion at 122 livres. He’s a come-forward, comes-to-win, aggressive-minded slugger who makes for exciting fights and has been in with excellent opposition.
The ultimate road warrior, the 5-foot-5, 29-year-old Martinez has fought more than one-third of his fights outside his native Spain, where he has tussled 26 fois. He’s also fought four times in Ireland, three times in England, three times in Northern Ireland and one time each in Japan, Argentine, France and South Africa.

“I love fighting in my opponent’s backyard. That is not a problem for me at all. People who know boxing know I will give everything to this sport. I want to give great shows and entertain people. I’m coming forward and throwing punches and I don’t give up.

A lifelong resident of Spain, Martinez was born in Granada, Espagne, and resides in Alicante. He has two sisters and two brothers but is the only one in the family who boxes professionally. He turned to boxing as a young teenager.
“I started in boxing because when I was about 13 I was smaller and other kids bullied me all the time. So I began looking for a way to learn to defend myself,'' At-il dit. “Once I decided to start boxing and dedicated myself to it I fell in love with the sport.’’
Comme un amateur, Martinez went 47-2 and won a Spanish national amateur championship, but he had no international amateur experience. “I had a good amateur career but never thought about the Olympics,'' At-il dit. “My mind was always on being a pro fighter.’’
A dangerous puncher who’s at his best when he pressures his opponents and wears them down, Martinez turned pro in June 2004. He was victorious in his initial 17 combats, winning all but three by knockout.
Martinez met Sergio Martinez [no relation] about nine years ago. “I met Sergio in the gym in Spain that he used to train himself in and we became good friends. When I started boxing I looked up to Julio Cesar Chavez and I am now a big fan of Marcos Maidana. I like to fight like him.
“But I’ve always had a special relationship with Sergio, who inspired me because he came from poverty like me. He has taught me so much. It’s like looking into a mirror because he knows where I came from. He’s taught me so much inside and outside the ring. We were very poor growing up and my father worked very hard.’’

One of the most promising and highly regarded young stars in boxing, Williams (21-0-1, 1 Dakota du Nord, 13 KOs) will headline for the first time on SHOWTIME. He’s stepping up after honing his skills and steadily ascending the ranks after five fights on SHO EXTREME. The 25-year-old shut out longtime contender Joey Hernandez last April, followed that with a sixth-round stoppage of Arman Ovsepyan in June and closed the year by stopping Orlando Lora in the first round in September. The Philadelphian has also picked up victories over Joachim Alcine, Eliezer Gonzalez and Freddy Hernandez in his young career and looks to earn his first title shot with a win on Mars 5.
Matano (16-1, 5 KOs) is a former Italian super welterweight titlist. He’s registered four consecutive wins since the only loss of his career, including victories in three scheduled 12-round fights. The 29-year-old is coming off a 12-round unanimous decision over fellow-Italian Nick Klappert in October 2015. Like Williams, he fought three bouts in 2015, although he logged 31 total rounds compared to just 17 for Williams.
Douglas (19-0-1, 13 KOs) has been impressive in five consecutive victories since he boxed to a draw when he was just 21 years old with former world title challenger Michel Soro in July 2014. The former top amateur has won his last three fights by knockout, including a sixth-round KO of previously undefeated Thomas LaManna and a fourth-round TKO of veteran Les Sherrington last November in his fifth appearance on ShoBox: La Nouvelle Génération. On the prospect developmental series, the 23-year-old Douglas has graduated from unproven prospect to undefeated contender and is now ranked No. 4 dans la WBO et non. 6 dans la WBA. Douglas is promoted by GH3 promotions.
Soliman (44-13, 1 Caroline du Nord, 18 KOs), de Melbourne, Australie, is vastly more experienced than Douglas, having competed in four world championship fights.
