(Januari 11, 2018) – Unified Women's Super middengewicht wereldkampioen Claressa Shields sprak met de media op een training sessie in haar geboortestad Flint, Mich., voordat ze vertrokken naar Verona, N.Y.. haar 168-pond titels te verdedigen tegen ongeslagen IBF verplichte uitdager Tori Nelson morgen nacht, Vrijdag, Jan. 12 live op Showtime.

 

 

 

Shields zal wegen in vanmiddag voorafgaand aan morgen overnachting ShoBox: The New Generation uitzending van Turning Stone Resort Casino. De uitzending begint om 10 p.m. EN/PT en is voorzien van de strijd van twee ongeslagen 140-pond vooruitzichten Shakh Ergashev en Sonny Fredrickson en Jesse Hernandez maken van zijn ShoBox terug te keren tegen Ernesto Garza.

"Ik voel me geweldig. Ik duwde mezelf dit kamp. Het was een langere camp dan normaal, dus ik ruim de tijd om klaar te zijn heb gehad. Tori Nelson heeft gedaan een hoop troep te praten, maar ik ga haar laten zien dat ze kunnen zijn 17-0, maar ze is nog nooit gevochten een meisje als ik vóór.

 

 

“Ik mag slechts 4 professionele gevechten om mijn naam, maar ik heb veel amateur-ervaring. Ik heb meisjes die vochten 16-0, Ik heb nergens te zien op haar plaat waar ze vochten een ongeslagen vechter van dat kaliber.

 

 

“Ik heb voorbereid voor deze strijd op dezelfde manier als ik altijd doe. Ik heb niets bijzonders gedaan. Richt ik me op mezelf, niet mijn tegenstanders.

Russian Heavyweight Crusher Apti Davtaev Looking to Impress in his American Debut This Friday at Turning Stone Resort Casino

Undefeated heavyweight KO artist Apti Davtaev will make his long-awaited American debut deze vrijdag night on the untelevised undercard of two-time Olympic gold medalist Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (4-0, 2 KO) defense of her WBC and IBF titles against undefeated mandatory challenger Tori Nelson (17-0-3, 2 KO) bij het Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York.

A recent signing of Salita Promotions, Davtaev (13-0-1, 13 KO), from Kurchaloi, Rusland, will take on Philadelphia-based veteran Garrett “The Ultimate Warrior” Wilson (18-13-1, 9 KO) in een acht-round showcase.
Standing an imposing 6 ‘5″ and already having won the WBC Slovenian title in just his tenth pro fight, Davtaev moved from his training base in Grozny to Detroit to work with well-respected Javan SugarHill Steward at the Kronk Gym.
“I loved training in Detroit with SugarHill Steward,” said Davtaev. “I feel my skills are going to a new level and I look forward to showing them off on January 12. I know Wilson is experienced and has fought some very good fighters, but I am in great shape and ready to put on a show!”
Not looking to waste any time, the 28-year-old Davtaev says he’ll be looking for “names” in the big man’s division of boxing after this fight.
“My goals are to stay active and fight the better names in the division this year,” he said. “I look forward to showing the boxing fans my skills and challenging the big names. The fans in New York can expect to see a new contender in the heavyweight division.”
Steward, nephew of the great Emanuel Steward and quickly building a strong reputation of his own, says that Davtaev has what it takes.
“Apti is a strong, coordinated, big heavyweight who will be ready to compete very soon with the other contenders in the division. I am very impressed with his ability to learn and to transfer what he’s learned into sparring. I am excited to see Apti in action January 12 for his American debut. I expect to see an exciting knockout!”
Presented by Salita Promotions, Shields vs. Nelson will serve as the headliner of a televised tripleheader on SHOWTIME (10 p.m. EN/PT).
Also featured on the January 12 uitzending, Uzbekistan power-puncher Shohjahon Ergashev (11-0, 11 KO) will face fellow undefeated and top-10 ranked Sonny Fredrickson (18-0, 12 KO) van Toledo, Ohio. “Iedereen die heeft gezien mij te vechten voordat weet het zal niet een saai gevecht. Zelfs als het eenzijdig, het altijd gaat worden vol actie. Januari 20 gaat een enorme strijd te zijn en ik ga op een goede prestatie neer te zetten. Ik ben van plan om te domineren.
“Het verdedigen van mijn titel in Brooklyn zal speciaal worden. Ik heb familie in New York ook, dus dat betekent veel dat ik in staat te verdedigen bij Barclays Center. New York is een boks stad, zodat ze echt waarderen kampioenen en weet dat de sport.
“Ik ben enthousiast om te vechten een man als Lamont Peterson. Ik ben niet de bestrijding van een gewone no-name fighter. Hij zal het beste uit mij te brengen, omdat hij is een echte vechter. Het maakt de hele ervaring nog beter.

New York, New York (Januari 10, 2018) — Victory Sport & Entertainment’s highly-touted Junior Welterweight fighter Sonny “Pretty Boy” Fredrickson (18-0,12 KO) is slated to make his SHOWTIME debut on Vrijdag, Januari 12 when he faces off against Shohjahon Ergashev in the telecast opener of ShoBox: The New Generation op Vrijdag, Jan. 12 live op Showtime (10 p.m. EN/PT) van Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, N.Y..
Fredrickson will square off against the Uzbekistani Ergashev (11-0, 11 KO) in a telecast headlined by two-time Olympian Gold Medalist Claressa Shields (4-0, 2 KO's) as she defends her WBC and IBF Middleweight World Titles against Tori Nelson (17-0-3, 2 KO's).
Fredrickson, de WBA's Geen. 8 ranked fighter at 140 pond, will take on power-puncher Ergashev in the former’s first fight since claiming the WBA Fedebol Super Lightweight title on Nov. 1, 2017 in Medellin, Colombia. The highly anticipated fight is part of a tripleheader event promoted by Salita Promotions. And while Ergashev is with Salita Promotions, there is no doubt who the “A-Side” of this fight is as the fast rising Fredrickson looks to solidify his position as one of the top contenders at Junior Welterweight and make himself a television regular.
“I am excited to make my ShoBox debuut, and look forward to putting on a good show for the fans at Turning Stone and everyone watching on TV, especially all my family and fans back in Toledo, Ohio” Fredrickson said. “I know Ergashev is tough and he will be coming to fight, but I’ve trained very hard. I had a great camp and I am looking to make a statement. ROBERT VAN PASEN (20-0, 14 KO) – Het maken van de derde verdediging van IBF lichtgewicht wereldtitel
“Dit gevecht kan zeker het goede toon voor mij in 2018. Ik ga het maken van een verklaring met deze strijd. Mijn laatste drie gevechten heb ik niet gekregen een knock-out. Ik ga geven mijn fans en de strijd fans een goede show.
“Ik ga mijn bereik en de lengte te gebruiken en te vernietigen deze man vanaf de buitenkant. Al mijn carrière heb ik gevochten korter jongens. Elke korte vent niet dezelfde vechten. Maar je krijgt in de ring en je voelt hem uit en aanpassingen.
“Er is niets in het bijzonder dat ik voor te bereiden op met Fortuna. Ik neem elk gevecht hetzelfde. Iedere vechter vecht anders, dus je daar krijgen, voelt hem uit en aanpassingen als je verder gaat. Ik ben niet bezorgd over hem wordt een linkshandige. Ik heb geconfronteerd met tal van leden van de linkervleugel in mijn carrière en in de amateurs. Dat is helemaal geen problemen.
“Ik denk dat wat maakt me des te gevaarlijker bokser in deze strijd is met de hoogte die ik doe en de slagkracht en de snelheid en de mindset. Mijn mentaliteit is dat ik daar niet naar binnen om mee te spelen met hem. Ik ben klaar om te vernietigen.
“Mijn doelen voor 2018 zijn om meer titels te vangen en de eenwording aanvallen krijgen. We hadden een paar kampioenen in de gewichtsklasse, maar het lijkt erop dat niemand bereid is om de andere kampioenen vechten. We zijn bereid te doen wat nodig is, vechten wie heeft de titels. We zijn bereid om al die titels als de andere jongens bereid zijn aan te melden voor de gevechten vast te leggen.”
JAVIER FORTUNA (33-1-1, 23 KO) – Voormalig Super vedergewicht wereldkampioen
“Mijn voorbereiding voor deze strijd gaat heel goed. Ik heb uit te werken in de Dominicaanse Republiek, maar ik ben terug naar Boston te komen naar mijn opleiding afmaken. Op dit moment zijn we op 75% en dichter bij 100%. Ik zal volledig worden voorbereid wanneer het tijd is om te vechten. Mijn voorbereiding en mijn strategie me des te gevaarlijker man.
“Ik zie dit als geen ander gevecht dat ik eerder heb gehad, omdat elke tegenstander is anders. Iedereen heeft zijn eigen niche op dit niveau, iets dat werkt voor hen. Zijn niche is dat hij is lang. Hij gebruikt dat in zijn voordeel. Maar het is niets dat ik niet kan overwinnen. Ik heb lange jongens gevochten voor.
“Ik heb liever mijn tegenstanders om groter te worden. Het speelt in wat ik kan doen. Ik heb nog nooit een probleem gehad met hogere tegenstanders. Abner Cotto (5-10) is een van de grote jongens die ik vocht. Ik vocht in Chicago en op een geweldige prestatie. (Fortuna scoorde een 5th ronde KO tegen Cotto)
“Mijn doel voor 2018 is om alle top elite vechters in mijn gewichtsklasse vechten, en ik ben op zoek naar de bovengenoemde worden als een van de beste in de sport. Ik wil heel graag een andere wereld titel te winnen in een andere gewichtsklasse. Het zou de grootste moment dat tot nu toe in mijn carrière naar een andere wereld titel te krijgen zijn.”

“Mijn tegenstander (Francy Ntetu, 17-1, 4 KO) ziet eruit als een duurzaam, stoere vent. Ik zie deze strijd zeer spannend voor de fans voor zo lang als het duurt. Ik zag een beetje tape op hem. Ik weet dat hij komt altijd in topvorm, en ik hoor hij is consistent in zijn prestaties in de ring. I just know I’m going to have to be sharp on Jan. 20.
“Het is altijd een eer om te vechten hier thuis en op het Barclays Center. Het is bijzonder om te kunnen presteren in de voorkant van deze fans en ik kan niet wachten op een goede prestatie in de aanloop naar de Spence vs te zetten. Peterson gevecht.

“I know Marcus Browne is probably taking me lightly and thinks he will simply go through me. “Ik heb nooit gekwetst en in een gevecht nooit is gevallen. Ik wil Marcus om zichzelf uit te dagen en te zien of hij iets kan doen heeft niemand anders. Ik ben opgewonden om in een gevecht van deze omvang. Marcus, Het is tijd voor ons om de fans te geven wat ze willen!”

“I don’t think my preparation for this fight has been affected by what happened here in Houston [Hurricane Harvey]. I have endured so much in my life. I had to escape from my homeland to pursue my dream of becoming a professional boxer. I defied the odds and I became a world champion. I got here with hard work and discipline. I’m focused. Nothing distracts me.

I’m back home, everything is good and that’s all that matters right now.

 

“Erickson Lubin is a crafty young fighter. Hij is sterk. He’s got some skills. He’s got pop. We’re just going to have to dog it out. Best man wins. Whoever’s in the best shape, whoever’s the strongest fighter, whoever lands the best punches is going to win the fight.

 

“I’m a vet. I’ve been in the game professionally ten years. I grew up in the amateurs. I’ve got the height, I’ve got the size, I’m stronger, I’m faster.

 

“I’ve fought three southpaws. I’ve knocked them all out. I’ve knocked every southpaw I’ve fought out.

 

"Errol Spence Jr". is the perfect sparring partner. He’s been one of the best sparring partners that I’ve had even when I’m fighting right-handers because of his dominance. He’s very strong, he’s fast and he’s punching.

 

“I’ve got Houston on my back right now – me and my twin brother. If there were more fighters in Houston, we would be a bigger team. We do what we can to try to get boxing back into this city.

 

“Why not get a big fight? I’ve fought 29 gevechten. I’ve fought a lot of prospects. My career has been built up. I beat Olympians. What else do you want me to do? “I told my brother that this fight is equivalent to when I fought J-Rock [Julian Williams]. A lot of people are going to doubt him but at the end of the day they’re going to be in his corner cheering him on for the victory.

 

“I told Jermell to continue to work hard and keep striving because it’s going to build our legacy to that next level. It’s going to put us where we need to be to get the best opponents and the biggest fights.

NEW YORK - September 21, 2017 - Showtime Sport® will close out a banner year of world-class boxing with back-to-back Saturdays featuring heavyweight world championship fights live on SHOWTIME. The network announced today coverage of unified heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua’s upcoming WBA and IBF world title defense against top-rated mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev on Zaterdag, Oktober 28 live op Showtime from Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

 

De Oktober 28 SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast will be the first of two heavyweight world title fights airing live on SHOWTIME on consecutive Saturdays, with WBC World Champion Deontay Wilder set to defend his title against undefeated contender Luis Ortiz on Zaterdag, November 4. Both main event bouts will air live on SHOWTIME as the network concludes a robust 2017 boxing campaign that will have featured 22 WK-gevechten, 16 bouts matching fellow undefeated fighters, three world title unifications, three world title rematches and the emergence of three bright young stars (Errol Spence Jr., Gervonta Davis and David Benavidez) as they earned their first world titles.

 

With the addition of Joshua vs. Pulev, four of the consensus top-five heavyweights in the world will compete on SHOWTIME in consecutive weeks. Joshua vs. Pulev and Wilder vs. Ortiz will be the ninth and 10th heavyweight world championship bouts to air live on SHOWTIME in the last two years.

Joshua, the undefeated British superstar (19-0, 19 KO), exploded onto the world stage in April when he defeated heavyweight legend Wladimir Klitschko via a spectacular come-from-behind knockout. In the year’s leading Fight of the Year candidate, a bout that aired live on SHOWTIME, Joshua picked up the vacant WBA heavyweight title to go along with his IBF belt. Nu, Joshua returns to take on the top-ranked IBF challenger in Pulev (25-1, 13 KO) bij de 70,000 seat national stadium in Wales.
