Team Maldonado files WMMAA appeal to reassess result of June 17th Emelianenko vs. Maldonado fight in Russia

Monte Carlo, Monaco (Hulyo 4, 2016) — The World Mixed Martial Arts Association (WMMAA) has received an appeal from Stefano Sartori, manager of Brazilian fighter Fabio Maldonado, to reassess the result of his June 17ikafight with Fedor Emelianenko, which headlined Fight Nights Global 50 in Saint Petersburgh, Russia.
Emelianenko was awarded a win by majority decision, which Team Malondado has appealed, claiming a conflict of interest because all of the judges are employed by the Russian MMA Union, of which Emelianenko serves as president.
Team Maldonado believes Maldonando should have won the decision, or the fight declared a draw at the very least, in their opinion, as the Brazilian clearly won the first round, 10-8, Emelianenko came back to take the second round, 10-9, and the third round was a toss-up.
Because Russian MMA Union vice president Radmir Gabdullin was the head judge for the aforementioned bout, Team Maldonando feels that a fair judgement regarding its appeal can be rendered only by independent, international judges reviewing the fight.
Team Maldonando has appealed the decision on grounds that there was an obvious conflict of interest in terms of the Russian MMA Union judges and their close association with Fedor, as well as the quality of decisions they rendered. Rather than appeal the decision to the Russian MMA Union, which they claimed would place Russian judges under intense pressure, Team Maldonando made the appeal directly to the WMMAA because the Russian MMA Union is a sanctioned member of the worldwide sanctioning body WMMAA.
WMMAA president Vadim Finkelchtein has announced the following sequence of actions:
  • WMMAA Secretary General Alexander Engelhardt has been appointed to handle the appeal procedure
  • A group of objective international judges, under the guidance of experienced referee/judge Marco Broersen (Olanda), to be appointed to assess the Emelianenko-Maldonado fight based on the tape and render an unbiased verdict regarding the fight and work of the judges
  • Temporarily suspend WMMAA head judge Radmir Gabdullin from his position
  • Discuss judgeswork at the next WMMAA Congress, taking into account the pending verdict of the independent commission

VLADIMIR TIKHONOV MAKING PROGRESS UP THE RATINGS LADDER; RUSSIAN IS LUCKY NO. 13 IN WBA

Brooklyn, NY (Hunyo 15, 2016)– Ruso Vladimir Tikhonov, a super bantamweight contender, is the latest signee to the Dmitriy Salita promotional slate. And it looks like the timing is right for the Brooklyner Salita, with word out that this Russian hitter is making his way up the ratings ladder.
Tikhonov (14-0 may 8 Kos) has entered the WBA world rankings at No. 13.

Naka Siya pro sa 2008, has fought once outside Russia, and Salita is looking to get him some more passport stamps.

A left-hander, Tikhonov is methodical and busy. He is active with his feet and can sting with both hands. Opponents need to be wary of him slipping punches in from underneath. He is ultra calm in the ring, nakukuha sa, gets off and gets out.

Vladimir is a talented boxer who has lots of experience and potential to compete with the best in the world,” said the Brooklyn based promoter, who is putting together an Agosto. 19 show in Rochester, NY to be headlined by Jarrell Miller. “Tikhonov is world ranked now and I will be looking to land a significant fight for him in the near future. He wants the toughest tests, like Guillermo Rigondeaux (the WBA super bantam champion; Moises Flores holds their interim title), Scott Quigg and Nonito Donaire. He is yet another Russian warrior, with fighting in his blood!”

Promoter Salita has climbed the mountain himself as a fighter, amassing isang 35-2-1 mark as a professional within the welterweight class. He has kicked off successful fight series in NYC, and now Detroit, and word is spreading that his efforts as an effective promoter are informed by his having experienced what it’s like to campaign in the ring. Salita is planning the aforementioned NY show, as well as a return to Detroit, for the thirdDetroit Brawl.

Salita Promotions is poised to have a very strong second half of 2016, and our athletes such as Tikhonov will keep on being featured on premium broadcast channels,” Salita said. “Our stable is strong, and growing all the time!”

Vyacheslav Vasilevsky replaces injured Ramazan Emeev vs. Alexander Shlemenko

M-1 Grand Prix Middleweight Championship
M-1 Hamon 68, Hunyo 16 sa St. Petersburg, Russia
(L-R) – Vyacheslav Vasilevsky & Alexander Shlemenko
ST. Petersburg, Russia (Mayo 17, 2016) – Former M-1 Challenge light heavyweight and middleweight champion Vyacheslav Vasilevsky (28-4-0, M-1: 10-2-0) has stepped up to replace injured Ramadan Emeev laban sa Alexander “Bagyo” Shlemenko (52-9-0, M-1: 3-0-0) in the final of the M-1 Grand Prix Middleweight Tournament, headlining
M-1 Hamon 68, Hunyo 16 at Yubileyny Sports Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Emeev (14-3-0, M-1: 8-1-0) suffered a torn ligament in his elbow during training camp. In a M-1 Challenge Grand Prix Middleweight Tournament semifinals match last February, Vasilevsky lost a majority decision to Shlemenko in the M-1 Hamon 64 Labanan ng Gabi.
We were in a very difficult situation after Ramazan Atmeev got injured,” M-1 Global president Vadim Finkelchtein explained. “The whole event was in jeopardy. Kaya, ngayon, we’re grateful to Vyacheslav Vasilevsky for agreeing to step in and face Shlemenko in our M-1 Grand Prix finals being held on his (Vasilevsky) kaarawan.
Due to our contract obligations, we were unable to postpone the event because it is officially included in the St. Petersburg Atconomic Forum, which is something every one of our fighters knew from the very beginning. There’s a paragraph in the Grand Prix fighterscontract stating we can use one of the guys who fought in the semifinals of the tournament in case someone gets injured. Now we’re making one of the most anticipated rematches in the history of Russian MMA.
M-1 Challenge matimbang kampeon Alexander “Drago” Volkov (25-6-0, M-1: 9-3-0) will make his first title defense against AttilaPumukloVegh (29-6-2, M-1: 0-0-0) sa M-1 Hamon 68. A match between Russian middleweight ValeryThe Russian HammerMyasnikov (10-1-1, M-1: 1-1-1) and Spanish veteran Enoc malulutas nito Torres (18-9-0, M-1: 5-6-0) has also been announced for the June 16ika kard.
“Ang M-1 Hamon 68 event is going to be huge,” Finkelchtein added. “We’re stacking the card with Alexander Volkov vs Attila Vegh fighting in an M-1 Challenge heavyweight title fight. The Grand Prix winner, Shlemenko still gets $50,000. As for Ramazan Atmeev, we will put efforts into arranging his fight with Alexander Shlemenko this fall, if Shlemenko is still fighting in Russia. Emeev versus Shlemenko will provide the answer to all of the questions MMA fans still arguing about.
