PREMIER BOXING CHAMPIONS ON NBC DEONTAY WILDER VS. JOHANN DUHAUPAS MEDIA WORKOUT QUOTES

Birmingham, AL (September 24) – Just days away from the heavyweight main event showdown between Deontay Wilder thiab Johann Duhaupas, fighters featured on this Saturday’s fight card from Legacy Arena in Birmingham participated in a media workout Hnub peb to officially kickoff fight week. The NBC telecast begins at 8:30 p.m. LI/5:30 p.m. PT.
Nyob hauv tus nqi feature, 2012 U.S. Olympian and undefeated heavyweight prospect DominicTroubleBreazeale will enter the ring against the crafty BigFred Kassi in a 10-round heavyweight showdown in the co-main event.
Below please find what the fighters had to say:
Deontay Wilder:
I’m just ready to fight. Anybody can be knocked out. It just takes the right amount of time and patience. You have to set up for it. Some guys can take punches better than others, but I don’t think he’s faced any guy with the charisma that I bring to the ring.
I don’t look at video or any of that stuff. I like to adjust when I get into the ring. It get’s me involved mentally and I can show off my IQ in the ring. I can’t wait for that bell to ring.
When you talk about the heavyweight division, all of the guys and big and strong. You have to respect each fighter. At the end of the day, the records don’t matter. It’s about who’s the toughest, who’s the smartest and whose the most motivated in the ring.
For all of my fights I’ve been gaining more experience. I knew I could go rounds and take punches even though people didn’t think I could. With this fight, it’s a new style and a new opponent, so I might have to bring out something I haven’t had to in my career.
Each and every time I fight it’s a learning experience. Inside the ring and outside. I’m a busy champion. I want to be the biggest name around. I’m the right man for the job.
I love this sport. I’m married to this sport and I’m not going anywhere. My hand is stronger than it was before my last fight and I look forward to putting it to the test.
Johann Duhaupas:
I’m very confident in myself and solid in my training. I have great confidence in all of the work that I have put in.
Deontay’s a great fighter that hits very hard. I know that we’re in his neighborhood and that puts extra pressure on the fight. Either way, it’s a world title fight. Doesn’t make a difference if it’s in his backyard or mine.
I’m not the first guy he asked to fight. Several refused before me but I’m the one who accepted the fight.
We’ve got a great strategy in place. I have 15 years of experience. He’s a wonderful adversary, but like us all, he has weaknesses that I can expose.
It’s been an honor to come to the United States. I feel like I’m in the movies that I used to watch as a child. I really appreciate this country.
Height is always an issue when facing a taller guy, but it will be up to me to take care of that. I’ve fought several guys taller than me and I’ll be ready.
I’m confident in myself and I’ll be equally as confident in the ring. I’m ready to deliver the knockout.
Dominic Breazeale:
A win in a small town is great. A win in a huge town is great. A win on national television is amazing. I couldn’t ask for anything better. I’m looking for the knockout Rau hnub Saturday hmo ntuj.
This is a great experience for me. I’m trying to design my own road map to the world title. Deontay and I have taken different paths, but I know eventually we will be fighting for the same belt.
PBC is doing some great things and it’s great to be back in this position. It’s phenomenal. These are the things you dream about when you’re a kid. I’m glad to be on this huge stage.
I’m an aggressive, boxer-slugger type of fighter. I’m always looking for that big punch. When I land it, the lights go out.
Last fight I got hit with some shots I shouldn’t have taken. This time I want to be more sound defensively. I’ve worked on my jab a lot and I want to establish that.
Slugging is the only way I know how [to fight]. I never want to go the distance. Fans want to see someone get hurt. I’m in the best shape of my life.
Fred Kassi
I don’t know too much about Breazeale. After the fight, I can rank how good he is right now.
I just have to be smart in there. I have to let him make a mistake and counter those mistakes.
It’s going to be a great fight because I always come to fight. I’ve come up short a couple of times but I am coming here to win!”
Jay Deas, Wilder’s Trainer:
We’re going to keep doing what we’re doing. Deontay is fighting at a pace that has never been done before. No heavyweight champion has ever fought as frequently as Deontay Wilder is fighting. He’s fought three times in nine months.
The possible fights with Klitschko, Tyson Fury and Alexander Povetkin take time to get done. While those are coming together, we’re fighting different guys. These guys here come to win. This guy can be an instant millionaire in one night.
We work day in and day out. I’ve been there with Deontay since his first day in the gym in 2005. We had a plan, we stuck to the plan and it turned out to be the right plan.
Deontay is the hardest worker in the game today. American has been wanting a heavyweight that is charismatic, energetic, wants to fight often, has a knockout punch, has the looks and everything that the heavyweight champ should have. He’s the man for the job.
Deontay is never out of shape. We put a heart monitor on him and that thing does not lie. It will show you that Deontay is in shape and that’s why we are always ready to fight.
Without Duhaupas there is no Klitschko, there is no Fury and there is no Povetkin, period. We’re gunning for the biggest opportunities possible but it starts Rau hnub Saturday hmo ntuj.
In the heavyweight division, anybody on the right night can be champion. That’s why it’s our job to make sure Deontay is ready mentally and physically. We know he’s ready.

JULIAN WILLIAMS GETS FIRST ROUND KNOCKOUT OVER LUCIANO CUELLO ON PREMIER BOXING CHAMPIONS ON FS1 AND FOX DEPORTES FROM SANDS BETHLEHEM EVENT CENTER IN BETHLEHEM, PAJ

Moises Flores Secures Knockout Win Over Luis Cusolito
Caleb Plant Wins Unanimous Decision Over Jamar Freeman

Bethlehem, PAJ (September 22, 2015) – The main event of Premier Boxing Champions rau FS1 thiab FOX Deportes showcased Julian Williams (21-0-1, 13 KOs) as he knocked out Luciano Cuello (35-4, 17 KOs) in the very first round of their contest. At the one minute 33-second mark of the first round Williams proved too much for Cuello.
The opening televised bout featured Mexico’s Moises Flores (24-0, 17 KOs) in an action-packed brawl against Argentina’s Luis Cusolito (21-2, 19 KOs). During a battle that allowed both fighters to appear in control at times, Flores managed to withstand 11 rounds of damage and sealed the deal with a 12th round knockout over Cusolito.
Caleb Plant (10-0, 8 KOs) went the distance in the second televised bout and secured a unanimous decision (80-71, 79-72, 80-71) victory over Jamar Freeman (13-5-2, 7 KOs).
Here is what the televised fighters had to say about their performances:
JULIAN WILLIAMS
I may be the fastest super welterweight in the world, and I’m accurate enough to hit guys when I want to.
I knew I was getting to him early and I just stayed vicious. It was a straight right that I landed on him to end things. I saw his left eye bubble up immediately.
I’ve fought undefeated prospects and former champions. I’ll fight anybody. I don’t hate (Austin) Trout at all. He’s just higher ranked than me and one of the guys in my way.
LUCIANO CUELLO
It was a right to the head that ended things. I felt my eye closing up. I felt like I might have been able to continue, but my balance was a little thrown off after he landed the right to my left eye.
I disagreed with the stoppage when I was in the moment, but I’ll go back and watch the fight to take another look at it.
I’ve fought some great fighters in my career, and Williams is as strong as any of them.
MOISES FLORES
I won this fight because of how I prepared. This was all about my preparation and dedication in the gym. I left my home in Mexico and went to Miami for 10 weeks to train for this fight. We didn’t do exactly what we planned, but my conditioning helped me get through this battle hmo no.
I’m very happy to get this interim title, but I want a shot at Leo Santa Cruz next. I’ll go up to 126 pounds to make that happen if he wants.
This was a huge jump for me being on a PBC card and fighting on FS1 and FOX Deportes. Great fighters get this honor and it feels wonderful to be a part of a card like this.
EMANUEL CUSOLITO
I hurt my hand in the second round.
He is a very strong champion. I was fighting hard but the ref thought I had taken too many punches. I could have continued. He is a great champion though. I want to come back and show my skills and heart to my fans from Argentina.
I thought in several rounds, I was going to knock him out, but maybe I was over confident. He has a great chin.
CALEB PLANT
I was relaxed and composed in there hmo no. I had him hurt so I pressed him more, but he’s a tough fighter.
I dropped him in the third with a left hook, and so I used that as a opportunity to pursue him more, but he hung tough.
This is a blessing to be a part of what Al (Haymon) is doing for boxing. Brining it back to free TV is huge. To be involved in something like this so early in my career helps me get great exposure.
JAMAR FREEMAN
“”I couldn’t find my rhythm. I got to him a few times but I didn’t let my hands go.
I am a natural 154 pound fighter, so he was able to walk me down and walk right through my punches. His power did not get to me at all though.
Caleb is a good fighter. He can go a long way as long as he stays focused. He has real good timing.

JAMAL JAMES GETS UNANIMOUS DECISION OVER JUAN CARLOS ABREU ON PREMIER BOXING CHAMPIONSTHE NEXT ROUND ON BOUNCE TV FROM FULL SAIL LIVE AT FULL SAIL UNIVERSITY IN WINTER PARK, FLORIDA

Erickson Lubin Scores Sixth Round Knockout Over Orlando Lora
Wilky Campfort Gets Knockout Win Over Ronaldo Montes

WINTER PARK, FLA (September 18, 2015) – The main event of Premier Boxing Champions – The Next Round rauThaws TV delivered a crowd-pleasing unanimous decision win (96 – 92, 97 – 91, 96 – 92) by Jamal James (18-0, 9 KOs) as he outmatched Juan Carlos Abreu (18-2-1, 17 KOs) to stay undefeated. James went down in the fourth round, but battled back to take over the bout, knocking Abreu down in the sixth round and never looking back.
The co-main event showcased an action-packed brawl as Erickson Lubin (12-0, 9 KOs) stopped Orlando Lora (31-6-2, 19 KOs) at one minute fifty-eight seconds into the sixth round. Lubin knocked Lora into the ropes in the second round for what was ruled a knockdown.
The televised opener saw Wilky Campfort (21-1, 12 KOs) stop Ronaldo Montes (16-3, 14 KOs) with only one second remaining in the second round. Campfort was knocked down in the opening round, but fought back to knock down Montes three times in the second round. Montescorner intervened to stop the fight as the second round came to a close.
Here is what the televised fighters had to say about their performances:
JAMAL JAMES
I adapted my style and started boxing more as the fight went on. Eventually I was able to time it right for when he came at me so I could strike first.
He caught me with a right in the fourth that dropped me, but I didn’t feel too buzzed.
Hopefully a win like this pushes me even further. I wanted to show my skills, but he was a formidable fighter. This was a great step-up fight for me to show people I’m not just a paper fighter.
I’m looking for more opportunities with PBC. This was an honor to get to fight in the main event on Bounce TV.
I’ll fight whoever my manager Al Haymon wants me to fight next. I can’t wait to get back in the gym and continue refining my skills.
JUAN CARLOS ABREU
I’m very disappointed in my performance. He’s a good fighter. I knew that, but I was surprised he was able to hurt me with his punches.
I didn’t fight the way I wanted to. In the first round, I got head-butted and I never really recovered. I was buzzed the whole fight after that and when he hit me, it hurt me more than it normally would.
ERICKSON LUBIN
My corner helped me all fight. Every time I went to my corner they were helping me make the right adjustments.
I kept telling myself that if (Lora) throws two punches then I’m going to throw four. If he threw four, I’d throw eight. I wanted to double his effort and show that I have more will than him. I didn’t want this fight to go this distance.
Fighting on PBC on Bounce TV is going to help my career take off. I wanted to make a statement on TV so I could start stepping up my competition. I’m working towards a title shot.
ORLANDO LORA
I was not surprised at his power. I took his punches to my head very well, but my legs were shot. So I couldn’t move and had to stay in the pocket with him.
He caught me in the beginning of the fight in the solar plexus and that took my legs away from me for the rest of the fight. He hit me so hard to the body I couldn’t breathe and my legs went numb.
The stoppage was right. I would have loved to finish the ten rounds, but my corner knew I wasn’t going to go much longer.
WILKY CAMPFORT
I’ve always been a slow starter. At the start of the first round I wasn’t listening to my corner and (Montes) caught me off guard. But I got up and showed people what I came here to do.
“(Montes) is a knockout artist in his own right, but I’m a throwback fighter. I’ll fight anyone they put in front of me no matter how tough the other guy is.
Fighting on this PBC card on Bounce TV is huge. These are the fights I need to be in, fighting a tough opponent and on TV. I showed the fans my heart and that I can punch.
I want whoever they tell me to fight next. This is a business and I’m in it to win.
RONALDO MONTES
When I hurt him with that jab I thought I had him, but Campfort is a very strong guy.
I got overconfident. My plan was to box him but when I dropped him, I went in for the kill and got caught up in a brawl. That was not my plan. I was going to outbox him. It’s my fault.

LAS VEGAS, NV (September 16, 2015) – Less than two weeks away from hisHnub, September 29 super-featherweight world title showdown against undefeated world champion boxer JavierEl AbejonFortuna (28-0-1, 20 KOs), Carlos Ivan Velasquez (19-1, 12 KOs) is gearing up for the fight of his life. He fights on Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS headlined by Fortuna vs. Velasquez, a scheduled 12-round bout from The Pearl at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas (9 p.m. LI/6 p.m. PT).
Velásquez was born in Cataño, Puerto Rico where he and his twin brother both competed in amateur boxing growing up. He was a member of the 2004 Puerto Rican Olympic boxing team, but also won the featherweight title at the Central American and Caribbean Games. Training out of Las Vegas, NV with esteemed boxing trainer Roberto Norris, Velasquez shares his thoughts on training camp, fighting for Puerto Rico and fulfilling his dream of becoming a world champion.
On fighting for the Puerto Rican fans in this first world title opportunity:
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and I love my countrymen and country. Becoming a world champion is something I’ve been working hard for my whole life. From coming up as an amateur and Olympian to now, I have dreamed about winning this title. The time has come to take my career to the next level. Being that this is my first world title shot, I’m fully prepared to show the world that I’m a great fighter and that I intend to bring the title back home to all my family, friends and fans on September 29th.”
On fighting undefeated world champion Javier Fortuna:
Fortuna is considered one of the great fighters in the 130-pound division for a reason, he’s never lost. But he’s never been in the ring with a technical fighter like myself. He has a lot of flaws that we are going to expose.
On his world title opportunity coming on FS1 & FOX Deportes:
What can I say, I’m truly blessed to be fighting on PBC. FS1 and FOX Deportes are the new Hnub Night Fight channels. TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS is great for the sport. I’m honored to be fighting in the main-event on a great network like FS1 and FOX Deportes. Boxing has now gone back to its glory days, and I’m ready to shine.
On training with new coach Roberto Norris:
I find myself in a comfortable position training with Roberto Norris, who is working great with the physical attributes that God has blessed me with. Being that Fortuna is a southpaw, a great game plan must be implemented, and Norris has a masterful strategy in place. The knowledge that Norris conveys is really making a difference in my approach. I’m confident I’ll be able to dictate the pace of the fight and negate anything Fortuna tries to impose.
On working with strength and conditioning coach ÁngelMemoHeredia:
Angel Heredia is one of the best strength and conditioning coaches in boxing. With all the work we’ve done, I’ve never felt stronger going into a fight. His techniques are second to none. My stamina will be at peak performance when I step in the ring. tsis tas li ntawd, Memo brings a lot of experience to my corner.

When I received the call from my adviser Al Haymon this past week asking me if I was open to bumping up my bout to the 26th, I was all for it. To be able to fight on prime time television on NBC is a blessing. I remember speaking with my grandmother before my last bout who doesn’t have cable and she was able to see me last time on regular television. It means a lot to me that she is able to watch me again.

I am also looking forward to this bout as it is headlined by Deontay Wilder. It’s no secret that I am gunning for him and I want that championship belt. I want to be the heavyweight champion of the world and this televised bout is a great opportunity to showcase my skills while gaining fans and will put me in that position for a shot at the title. I want to send a message that I’m coming for those belts”, said Breazeale.

SAMMY VASQUEZ THRILLS HOMETOWN CROWD WITH FIFTH-ROUND STOPPAGE OF JOSE LOPEZ ON PREMIER BOXING CHAMPIONS TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS ON FS1 & FOX DEPORTES FROM THE CONVOCATION CENTER AT CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA

OMAR DOUGLAS DROPS BRAULIO SANTOS TWICE ON HIS WAY TO UNANIMOUS DECISION VICTORY

CALIFORNIA, PAJ. (September 16, 2015) – Sergeant SammyThe Who Can MexicanVasquez (20-0, 14 KOs)put on a show Hnub night for his hometown fans on his way to fifth-round stoppage of JosePistonLopez (25-4-1, 15 KOs) rau Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS on FS1 and FOX Deportes from the Convocation Center at California State University of Pennsylvania in California, PAJ.
Vasquez came out strong from the start, beating the hard-charging Lopez to the punch consistently in the early rounds. In the fourth round, Vasquez wobbled Lopez several times with hard combinations.
In the fifth round Vasquez took over the fight, dropping him early in the round with another flurry. Lopez was able to barely beat the count, but only lasted a few moments longer when Vasquez dropped him with another combination, prompting referee Gary Rosato to put a halt to fight 1:08 mus rau txoj kab.
Vasquez was dangerously effective with his power punches, landing 108 out of 189 thrown, giving him a 57.1 percentage with those punches. The hometown favorite had won every round on the judgesscorecards at the time of the stoppage.
In the opening televised bout, OmarSuper ODouglas (15-0, 11 KOs) remained undefeated by beating Braulio Santos (22-2-1, 15 KOs) by unanimous decision in a rough and tumble fight. Both men were deducted a point over the 10-rounds, with Douglas losing a point in round four for hits behind the head and Santos being deducted for low blows in round seven.
Douglas started the fight fast, attacking the body and earning a first round knockdown with a stiff jab that caught Santos off-guard. Douglas followed that up in round two, connecting on a left hook that sent Santos to the canvas.
Douglas had a decided advantage in power punches landed with a 165-117 discrepancy, per CompuBox. The final judges totals were 99-87, 97-89 thiab 96-90.
SAMMY VASQUEZ
He was real wild and the last thing I wanted was to get caught with a lucky shot. His body was wide open every time he came with the right hand. When he came in with the double right hand he left his ribs wide open.
I wanted to key-in on the body, but his head was right there. He bent over and was ready to take punches.
I was ready for him and I put the speed combo on him and it was over. I knew I was going to get him out of there.
I rolled with the punches with him. He was leaving himself wide open. He got tired after he tried to get me on the ropes. Once I popped him with a couple uppercuts and a hook, I knew I hurt him.
He came forward, he was very tough. He just wanted to punish me but I keyed in on my opportunities and got him out of there.
I knew I could get him out of there because of the type of fighter that he is and the skill-set that I have and that’s what we did.
Everybody in front of me is on my mind. I can only get to the top by beating the people in front of me. I’m not calling out any names, because I want every person ranked in front of me. I want everyone.
JOSE LOPEZ
I wanted to attack the body and put some pressure on him from the first round.
He moved very well side-to-side. He is a very good boxer.
I am very disappointed. I came here to win.
OMAR DOUGLAS
The jab is always a great weapon for me. He gave me more head movement after I was landing the jab. I tried to use the jab to the body and hurt him a few times. He was so short I had trouble throwing body shots.
On the second knockdown I feinted the jab and got him with the left hook. I should have done that all night. There were a lot of opportunities for me.
It was a tough fight. It was the kind of fight that I needed. I haven’t had a tough fight like that in a long time.
He laid in the middle, a bit of a rough guy. He was head butting, pulling and everything. When we got inside we banged heads a lot. The ref was saying I was hitting on the top of the head, but he was coming in so low.
I’ve done much better work before, he definitely gave me a tough fight, but I expected it.
I want to fight guys with winning records. I expect tough fights. I’m 15-0 now and I expect challenges.
BRAULIO SANTOS
It was a hard fight. I’m not sure that I won, but I thought it was closer.
I didn’t have that long to train and this is not a weight I usually fight at. I’d like to fight him again and have more time to prepare.
