**BROOKLYN** (Maart 7, 2020) – **Robert Helenius** (30-3, 19 KO)scoorde een verstoorde overwinning op eerder ongeslagen **Adam Kownacki** (20-1, 15 KO) door het stoppen van hem in de vierde ronde van een WBA zwaargewicht titel Eliminator headliner FOX PBC Fight Night en op FOX Deportes zaterdagnacht van Barclays Center, het huis van BROOKLYN BOKSEN ™.

“Ik wil iedereen die mij deze kans gaf te bedanken,” Said Helenius. “Kownacki is een taaie vechter. Ik heb hard gewerkt in trainingskamp en het zijn vruchten afgeworpen.”

Brooklyn's Kownacki vocht voor de 10^th tijd bij Barclays Center in de voorkant van zijn geboortestad menigte, maar was niet in staat om de langere Helenius van hem af nadat hij gewond in het begin van de vierde te houden. “Hij sloeg me met een goed schot. Ik wist wat er gaande was, maar ik ben gewoon boos op mezelf. Het is wat het is.”

In de co-main event, zwaargewicht gevoel **cartoon Ajagba** (13-0, 11 KO) leverde een negende ronde onderbreking van **Razvan Cojanu** (17-7, 9 KO), kloppen hem tweemaal op weg naar de overwinning.

Ajagba toonde de productieve kracht die heeft hem een zeer gewaardeerde zwaargewicht bijna een sprong van prospect tot mededinger. Cojanu kwam om te vechten en had succes op verschillende punten in de actie, landing haken op Ajagba en het vertragen van zijn aanval in de eerste ronden.

In het tv-opener, stijgende zwaargewicht **Frank Sanchez** (15-0, 11 KO) scoorde een 10-round unaniem besluit over **Joey Dawejko** (20-8-4, 11 KO) ongeslagen te blijven.

“Ik was goed voorbereid en ik dacht dat ik vocht heel goed vanavond,” Said Sanchez. “Ik domineerde de strijd. Ik liet een goede voetenwerk en beweging en deed precies wat we aan gewerkt. Ik verwachtte een veel druk, maar met mijn boksen vermogen, er was geen manier waarop hij zou gaan om me te vangen.”

De Cubaanse vechter gedomineerd met zijn beweging, zelden wordt opgewonden door de aanval Dawejko toen hij de ring begrensd rond en vermeed de binnenkomende Philadelphia inheemse. **BROOKLYN** (Maart 5, 2020) – Ongeslagen Poolse ster en inwoner van Brooklyn **Adam Kownacki** en **Robert Helenius** stond donderdag oog in oog tijdens de laatste persconferentie voordat ze elkaar ontmoetten in een WBA Heavyweight-titel eliminator met als headliner FOX PBC Fight Night en op FOX Deportes aanstaande zaterdag, Maart 7 van Barclays Center, het huis van BROOKLYN BOKSEN ™.

Ook het kwadraat op de persconferentie was een sensatie van het zware gewicht **cartoon Ajagba** enRazvan Cojanu, die strijden in het co-main event, plus stijgend zwaargewicht **Frank Sanchez**en **Joey Dawejko**, die de avond van zwaargewicht actie openen op 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.

**ADAM Kownacka**

“Ik hou van vechten hier in Brooklyn in Barclays Center. Het is bijna de helft van mijn carrière dat ik in die ring heb gevochten, dus het is absoluut mijn tweede thuis.

“Vechten voor een kans op de titel is echt motiverend. Ik weet dat dit ook voor Robert een groot gevecht is en hij heeft hard getraind, maar mijn titelkans ligt voor de deur. Ik had kunnen wachten, maar ik besloot deze grote test aan te gaan. Ik ga laten zien waarom ik binnenkort klaar ben om voor de titel te vechten.

“Het is werkelijk verbazingwekkend om de Poolse fans op fight night te zien. Ik was een Andrew Golota-fan en Tomasz Adamek daarna. Nu probeer ik de volgende motivatie te zijn voor jonge Poolse kinderen. Ik wil ze laten zien dat ze het kunnen redden. Ik bleef de juiste beslissingen nemen en nu ben ik daar zo dicht bij een titelopname. Robert staat me in de weg en ik moet hem verslaan om te komen waar ik wil.

“Ik hoor graag de fans schreeuwen tijdens fight night en dat geeft me zeker extra energie en motivatie om te vechten in de latere rondes.

“Ik ben op zoek naar een spectaculaire knock-out. Ik wil laten zien waarom ik een van de beste zwaargewichten ter wereld ben. Ik moet zaken regelen.

“Het is echt geweldig om fans van over de hele wereld te hebben die deze avond met mij komen delen. Het is een eer om dit volgende te hebben. Het is werkelijk adembenemend. Ik zou ze zeggen om door te gaan op deze reis om wereldkampioen zwaargewicht te worden.

“Dit is een heel vriendelijke persconferentie, er is veel respect tussen deze vechters. Ik kan zien dat iedereen klaar is om zaterdag een geweldige show voor de fans neer te zetten.”

**ROBERT HELENIUS**

“Ik heb de kans om zaterdag een geweldig gevecht te leveren en daarvoor heb ik getraind. Ik ben er klaar voor en ik heb een geweldig trainingskamp gehad. Ik kan niet wachten om in de ring te komen.

“Deze strijd kwamen we twee weken eerder naar de VS.. Mijn lichaam is aan het verschil gewend geraakt. Meer, het sparren in Alabama in de sportschool van Deontay Wilder heeft me echt geholpen om me voor te bereiden.

“We doen alles goed en de training was geweldig. We hebben zoveel rondes sparren, Ik voel me erg scherp en klaar om tegen Kownacki de ring in te gaan.

“Ik heb veel fans in Europa en die steun is waarom ik dit zelfs kan doen en op dit niveau kan concurreren. Alles is zo perfect geweest tijdens het trainingskamp. Ik voel me er zelfverzekerder door dan in vele jaren.

“Ik trainde jarenlang met een gebroken hand en heb in het verleden blessures gehad. Maar de afgelopen twee jaar ben ik gezond geweest en heb ik dezelfde trainer gehad en voel ik me lichamelijk zo goed als ooit.”

**EFE AJAGBA**

“Ik ben opgewonden om op deze geweldige show vol zwaargewichten te zijn. Ik kijk uit naar zaterdagavond. Ik bedank mijn tegenstander voor het aangaan van deze uitdaging. Hij is een goede vechter en we kijken er naar uit om je een geweldig gevecht te geven.

“In het Iago Kiladze-gevecht had ik hem pijn en probeerde ik hem af te maken, maar ik ging te wild en liet mijn hoede liggen. Daarom heeft hij een schot geland en me neergeslagen. Ik voelde me oké toen ik opstond en ik kwam terug en maakte hem af.

“Het is aan Cojanu hoe het gevecht verloopt. We zullen zien of hij op zaterdag tegen mijn stoot kan of niet. We zullen in de ring zien of hij een harde kin heeft.

“Cojanu heeft veel goede ervaringen met goede vechters. Hij gaat proberen me in dozen te doen, maar als hij mijn kracht niet kan nemen, dan kan ik het gevecht winnen door knock-out. Als hij er tegen kan, Ik zal klaar zijn om een beslissing te winnen.”

**RAZVAN COJANU**

“Efe is een vechter die ik veel respecteer. Hij is een geweldige kandidaat. Maar ik ben klaar voor hem. Ik voel me erg zelfverzekerd. Ik heb een geweldig trainingskamp van zes weken gehad. Iedereen die mij heeft gesteund, Ik ga ze zaterdag trots maken.

“Voor dit gevecht kreeg ik de kans om met Henry Tillman samen te werken en het heeft een enorm verschil gemaakt in mijn spel. Ik weet dat de coach niet voor me kan vechten, maar ik geloof in zijn plan en zijn oordeel. Hij weet hoe ik Efe Ajagba kan verslaan en zaterdagavond ga je me de wereld shockeren.

“Mensen denken dat Efe de strijd al heeft gewonnen, maar ik voel me goed. Er staat geen druk op mijn schouders. ik heb niets te verliezen. Ik geloof in karma en ik geloof dat het mijn tijd is om aanstaande zaterdag te komen.

“Ik ben erg blij dat ik voor het eerst op FOX kan vechten. Veel succes voor alle vechters om gezond door te komen en de fans de hele nacht een geweldig optreden te geven.”

**FRANK SANCHEZ**

“Ik ben erg opgewonden over deze geweldige kans om te vechten op deze grote PBC-kaart. Zaterdag wordt een geweldig gevecht en je kunt een geweldige prestatie van mij verwachten.

“Ik wens Joey veel succes op zaterdag, maar niet teveel geluk. Ik ga laten zien dat ik een van de beste zwaargewichten ter wereld ben.

“Hij slaat niemand knock-out. Met mijn verdediging en beweging, hij zal me geen pijn kunnen doen. Ik heb alles wat ik nodig heb om deze strijd te domineren.

“Niemand tegen wie hij ooit heeft gevochten, is zoals ik. Hij zal geschokt zijn als ik zaterdagavond een geweldige knock-out geef. Ik zie je zaterdag in de ring.”

**JOEY Dawejko**

“Ik wil iedereen bedanken die mij heeft geholpen deze kans te krijgen. Ik heb de kans om weer geweldig te zijn. Ik weet een beetje over Frank Sanchez. Ik weet dat ze hem snel verplaatsen, maar ik denk dat ze het verkeerde gevecht aangingen. Ze hadden nog een paar gevechten op me moeten wachten en ik ga het bewijzen.

“Ik ben in uitstekende vorm en ik heb een geweldig kamp gehad met mijn trainer Justin Fortune. Ik kan niet wachten om daar binnen te komen en iedereen een geweldig gevecht te geven.

“Ervaring zal een grote rol spelen in deze strijd. Ik had een geweldige amateurcarrière en ik heb over de hele wereld gevochten. Ik heb nu met elke kampioen sparren en het zal allemaal helpen.

“Frank is een goede vechter, maar hij is niet klaar voor mij. Hij gaat proberen me in dozen te doen, maar ik zal te veel zijn. Ik voorspel een knock-out. Hij zal een grote schok krijgen. Hij heeft niets dat ik nog niet eerder heb gezien.”

Plant dominated mandatory challenger **Vincent Feigenbutz** (31-3, 28 KO) Duitsland, scoren een 10^th-round TKO Saturday night in the FOX PBC Fight Night main event and on FOX Deportes from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Plant, who grew up in neighboring Ashland City, successfully made the second defense of the world title he won in January 2019 with a thrilling 12-round unanimous decision over then-titlist Jose Uzcategui. “Sweethands” lived up to his moniker, breaking down Germany’s Feigenbutz before putting him away.

“I was super fueled by the crowd tonight,” Plant said. “I could have gone all night. The whole city came out. Nashville stand up!”

Plant gave them plenty to cheer about from the opening bell, landing his jab up and downstairs. The aggressive Feigenbutz, 24, struggled to land anything in return.

Plant began landing the combinations in the third, bringing the crowd to his feet with a series of well-placed volleys.

Those shots slowly took their toll, but Feigenbutz was game. He came alive in the sixth, pinning Plant against the ropes and unloading his own combinations. Plant covered up and shook his head as if unbothered.

Plant pounded Feigenbutz in the seventh and eighth, opening up a cut on his nose and swelling his right eye. The challenger absorbed more punishment in the ninth, causing the ringside doctor to take a hard look at him in between rounds.

The end came swiftly in the 10^th as Plant, sensing his foe was weakening, pounded away until referee Malik Waleed mercifully stepped in. The official time of the stoppage was 2:23 of the 10th.

“I know the fight’s not over until it’s over,” said Ramos. “That’s the game. I’ve been sick for two weeks. But no excuses. I wanted to come here and perform.

“I watched the Chavez-Taylor fight like 10 million times and I never thought I’d be in something like that. It just goes to prove that fights are never over till it’s over. You have to fight every single second of every single round.”

Perrella (17-3, 14 KO) was up on all three cards at the time of the stoppage; 87-84 and two scores of 88-83.

“This is boxing. It’s like Meldrick Taylor and Chavez,” Said Perrella, agreeing with Ramos’ comments. “These things just happen. I’m not going to take anything away from my opponent. I was winning every round convincingly. Wat kan ik zeggen? There was second left in the 10th round. It’s like a needle in the haystack. Het is wat het is.”

Southpaw Perrella controlled much of the action, using side to side movement, angles and rapid-fire combinations to stifle Ramos’ offense. A left hook in the third briefly buckled Ramos. Another in the fifth stunned him.

“Perrella’s a tough fighter,” said Ramos. “He’s a strong, strong fighter. Ik heb niets dan respect voor hem. I expected a tough fight and that’s what happened.”

Ramos never stopped coming forward, picking up the pace as Perrella slowed down. Met 34 seconds remaining in the 10^th, Ramos landed a perfect left uppercut flush on the chin. Perrella sank to the mat, getting up on unsteady legs. Ramos pounced once action resumed, unloading until a straight right drove Perrella to the floor again. The FOX PBC Fight Night opener featured a back-and-forth battle between lightweightsAustin Dulay en **Diego Magdaleno**. Magdaleno produced one of the finest performances of his career, dropping Dulay on his way to a 10-round unanimous decision victory in a minor upset.

The 33-year-old Magdaleno (32-3, 13 KO) was simply busier, particularly down the stretch in this battle of southpaws.

“I knew mentally I could break him down,” said Magdaleno. “If I attacked the body, I knew I could break him down. He’s a young prospect. He’s taller than me so my plan of attack was to get in close and go to the body.”

Dulay disagreed with the decision. “I boxed the hell out of him every round, making him miss, catching shots, countering. Ja, he hit me with a few good body shots. That doesn’t replace the heavy shots that I hit him with every single round for 10 rounds straight. That is madness. And it was a unanimous decision? That’s crazy. That’s unbelievable to me.

“Even Diego just told me that he had nothing to do with the decision. He knows. How can they do that to me in my hometown? That’s dirty man.”

Fighting in front of his fellow Nashville residents, Dulay (13-2, 10 KO) started fast, landing several clean lefts in the second. Magdaleno never stopped coming forward, working behind the jab and landing to Dulay’s body.

Some of those shots strayed low which elicited warnings from referee Jack Reiss. Echter, the work paid off as Dulay’s output dropped over the course of the bout. The sixth featured some of the best exchanges of the bout. Magdaleno got the better of those, landing a right to the ribs followed by one upstairs.

Magdaleno continued to press the attack in the seventh, scoring the fight’s only knockdown with a hard left hook to the solar plexus.

Once action resumed, Magdaleno pounded at his ribs until a left hook strayed low and dropped Magdaleno, causing Reiss to deduct a point.

“Every round he was hitting me low and, in the back, and on the hips,” said Dulay.
“It was more times than he got called for. I won that fight 100%.”

Sensing the fight slipping away, Dulay picked up the pace over the last three rounds. It wasn’t enough to overcome Magdaleno’s work rate, which earned him a win by scores of 97-91, 96-92 en 96-92.

“Experience has everything going for me. In my previous fight, I lost my head,” said Magdaleno. “This time I took my time. My camp said slow it down. Happy for the victory tonight.”

On the non-televised undercard, former world bantamweight champion **Rau’Shee “Atoombom” Warren** (17-3, 4 KO) ended a 13-month layoff with a wide 10-round unanimous decision over **Gilberto Mendoza** (15-8-3, 7 KO).

The 33-year-old Warren used his fast hands to land an assortment of shots from his lefty stance. In de vierde, a clash of heads opened a cut over the left eye of Mexico’s Mendoza. Warren sought to close the show, but Mendoza was game, firing back though outgunned.

Two judges scored it 99-91 and the third judge had it 100-90.

“It felt good to get back in there after being off for a year,” Warren said. “I didn’t feel like a rookie. I felt like I had to get a little rust off me. But I think I got most of the rust off when I was in the gym training. Going 10 rounds it felt good.”

“I hope to get back in May,” said Warren. “I only need 90 dagen. I’ve already had my long layoff since last January when I fought on Pacquiao and Adrien’s card. I’m ready to get it on. I’m ready to move on. The only thing he did that I didn’t expect him to do was stay up.”

Nery (30-0, 24 KO) is a power puncher who has stopped his last 11 opponents and 15 van zijn laatste 16. Representing Sonora, Mexico, Alameda (25-0, 13 KO) is unbeaten since turning pro in 2014 after a strong amateur career, and will step up in competition as he faces Nery for a shot at a world title bout. The 26-year-old is ranked No. 12 by the WBC and most recently knocked out Jordan Escobar in April 2019, after three victories in 2018. Alameda will fight in the U.S. for the second time when he enters the ring on March 28, after scoring a body shot knockout over Andre Wilson in a January 2016 bout in Los Angeles.

“I’m very excited to be making my SHOWTIME debut in the main event against a great fighter,” said Alameda. “All of the years of training and fighting have brought me to this fight on March 28. Nery is a Mexican warrior like myself and I can’t wait to lock horns with him and give the fans great action all the way until the final bell.”

The 26-year-old from Buenos Aires, Argentina has fought primarily in the U.S. since turning pro in 2017. His amateur career saw him become a national champion in Argentina in 2014 and represent his country in the Pan-Am Games in 2015. Escudero currently trains in Miami and scored three stoppage wins in 2019 before facing George for the first time.
