Burroughs, Oliver win Super Matches and USA takes nine wins at Beat the Streets Benefit in Pier 17

YORK ÉNGGAL, N.Y.. – It rained all week, until this afternoon, and the weather was perfect for the Beat the Streets Benefit at Pier 17 in the Seaport District of Lower Manhattan tonight. The United States showed up with an impressive effort, claiming nine of the 11 international matches in front of the amazing New York skyline.

In the Main Event “Super Match,” Olympic champion and four-time World champion Jordan Burroughs of the USA powered back from trailing 4-0 with a strong second period to defeat two-time Frank Chamizo of Italy, 8-5.

In the other Super Match, American star Jordan Oliver won a 3-3 criteria victory over 2012 Olympic champion Toghrul Asgarov of Azerbaijan.

Other U.S. winners were Tamyra Stock (Awéwé 68 kg), James Green (Lalaki 70 kg), Kyle Dake (Lalaki 79 kg), J’den Cox (Lalaki 92 kg), Kyle Snyder (Lalaki 97 kg), Nick Gwiazdowski (Lalaki 125 kg) and Helen Maroulis (Awéwé 57 kg).

Jerman, United States and Latvia Play Host to WBO Bouts

The World Boxing Organization (WBO), chaired by Francisco “Paco” Valcárcel, will celebrate five interesting title fights; two of which are for world championships. The bouts will take place this Saturday, Mei 12.

 

 

 

Brooklyn native Saddam “World Kid” Ali (26-1, 14 KO sacara), coming off the most important victory of his career against legendary Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto, makes the first defense of his WBO junior middleweight world title, when he faces the dangerous Mexican Jaime Munguía (28-0, 24 KO sacara). The fight will take place at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, York Énggal. The fight will be televised live on HBO at 10:00 p.m. AND.

 

 

 

“We will have a lot of activity this Saturday from the WBO. You have to pay close attention to the performance of the huge puncher Jaime Munguía, who will face a good attacker like Ali. It’s going to be a classic fight of puncher against a boxer. If Munguía wins, he would be placed on a select list of great Mexican boxers who have been world champions at or before 21 years of age”, said Valcárcel.

 

 

 

In Augsburg, Jerman, women’s boxing takes the stage when the popular former world champion Nikki Adler (16-1, 9 KO sacara) of Germany and the world contender Femke Hermans (6-1, 3 KO sacara) of Belgium, face each other for the vacant WBO world belt of the super middleweight division. The fight will be in the Eisstadion in Augsburg.

 

 

 

“We remain committed and supportive of women’s boxing. Germany is no exception. This great fight has the community looking on because there is a world title at stake and the fight will be liked by the public”, said Valcárcel.

 

In Latvia, three WBO International titles will be in play in 12-round duels in an evening at the Riga Arena. For the vacant International junior middleweight belt, the 13th ranked Ismail Iliev (10-0-1, 3 KO sacara) of Nazran, Russia will face Konstantin Ponomarev (33-0, 13 KO sacara) of Miass, Rusia.

 

 

 

Oge, the WBO International Lightweight Champion and 5th ranked Isa Chaniev (12-1, 6 KO sacara) of Nazran, Rusia, will defend his title against the strong Venezuelan puncher, Ismael Barroso (20-1-2, 19 KO sacara).

 

 

 

For the vacant middleweight WBO International belt, Artur Akavov (18-2, 12 KO sacara) from Russia, will face against Argentina’s Gonzalo Coria (12-1, 5 KO sacara).

Olympic champion Kyle Snyder, Olympic medalist J’den Cox, World medalists James Green and Nick Gwiazdowski lead the USA against Cuba; Jordan Burroughs and Jordan Oliver also in Super Matches

 

NEW YORK– Olympic and World medalists headline the United States lineup against Cuba in men’s freestyle for the Beat the Streets Annual Benefit, dubbed the “Rumble on the River,” set for Mei 17 at Pier 17/Seaport District in lower Manhattan.

 

 

These U.S. stars will face a talented Cuban team of men’s freestyle wrestlers as part of the exciting card of international competition. Cuba also brings a veteran team with past Olympic, World and Pan American medalists.

 

 

2016 Olympic champion and two-time World champion Kyle Snyder will compete in the Beat the Streets Benefit for the fourth time in his career. Snyder was a three-time NCAA champion and four-time finalist for Ohio State, and also boasts a Junior World title. He will face 2013 jeung 2014 World silver medalist Reineris Salas Perez di 97 kg at the Rumble on the River.

 

 

2016 Olympic bronze medalist and 2017 World bronze medalist J’den Cox will enter his second Beat the Streets Benefit, after also competing in 2016. Cox was a three-time NCAA champion and four-time All-American for Missouri. He has drawn 2015 Pan American champion Yurieski Torreblanca Queralta di 92 kg this year.

 

 

 

 

Two-time World bronze medalist James Green will wrestle in his second straight Beat the Streets Benefit at 70 kg. Green was a four-time All-American for Nebraska, and a University World silver medalist. He will battle Two-time Pan American champion Franklin Maren Castillo.

 

 

2017 World bronze medalist Nick Gwiazdowski, a native of Duanesburg, N.Y., is in his second straight Beat the Streets Benefit. Gwiazdowski won two New York state high school titles, then started his college career at Binghamton, where he was an All-American. “The Gwizz” transferred to NC State, where he was a two-time NCAA champion and three-time finalist. He will battle two-time Pan American Championships silver medalist Yudenny Alapajon Estevez di 125 kg/275 lbs.

 

 

 

Another native New Yorker on the roster is four-time NCAA champion Kyle Dake, who is in his second Beat the Streets Benefit after competing in the 2013 Rumble on the Rails. Dake was a two-time New York state champion and three-time finalist for Lansing High School, and went to nearby Cornell. Dake became the first wrestler to win four NCAA Div. I titles in four different weight classes. He has been on four U.S. Freestyle National Teams. Dake will wrestle 2012 Olympic bronze medalist and three-time World medalist Livan Lopez Azcuy di 79 kg.

 

 

 

The other U.S. entry against Cuba is Josh Rodriguez, who will compete in his first Beat the Streets Benefit. Rodriguez was a three-time NCAA qualifier for North Dakota State, and is currently training full-time in freestyle at the Nittany Lion WC at Penn State. Rodriguez was third in the 2017 U23 World Team Trials. He will face 2017 U23 World champion Reineri Andreeu Ortega is competing at 57 kg.

 

 

 

This is the second time a Cuban team has competed in a Beat the Streets Benefit. A team of men’s freestyle, women’s freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers were included in the 2015 Beat the Streets Benefit “Salsa in the Square,” held in Times Square.

 

 

 

Two other U.S. men’s freestyle stars will compete in Super Matches against opponents who are not from Cuba. 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist and four-time World champion Jordan Burroughs will battle two-time World champion and Olympic medalist Frank Chamizo Italia, and American standout Jordan Oliver challenges two-time Olympic Medalist Togrul Asgarov of Azerbaijan.

 

 

 

The Beat the Streets Benefit will have a wonderful variety of competition. The Team USA women, whose roster includes Helen Maroulis, Alli Ragan jeung Tamyra Mensah-Stock, will take on a highly-regarded squad from Nigeria. A Super High School Match has been scheduled, featuring the nation’s top scholastic 126-lb. star in Patrick Glory of Delbarton H.S. (N.J.) against third-ranked Gavin Teasdale of Jefferson Morgan H.S. (Pa.).

 

 

This year will mark the first time that Beat the Streets has held its annual event at Pier 17/South Street District. Dina 2013, the event dubbed “The Rumble on the Rails,” was hosted in historic Grand Central Terminal and featured dual meets between Team USA, Russia and Iran. Playing an important role in the international Keep Olympic Wrestling effort, this historic wrestling event gained international media coverage and helped wrestling retain its status on the Olympic Games program.

NEW YORK–In keeping with this month’s Beat the Streets Benefit as a celebration of the great sport of wrestling, BTS is pleased to announce three new key elements of the blockbuster event, dubbed “Rumble on the River,” set for Mei 17 at Pier 17/Seaport District in lower Manhattan.

  • For the first time, BTS will offer a $25 general admission ticket, good for admission to all of the match action, beginning with youth matchups at 2:30 and including the Team USA men and women’s international event and concluding Super Matches. Fans can find their tickets at http://www.btsny.org/events/annual-benefit/2018-benefit.
  • A Super High School Match has been scheduled, and it’s a real winner, pitting the nation’s top scholastic 126-lb. star in Patrick Glory of Delbarton H.S. (N.J.) against third-ranked Gavin Teasdale of Jefferson Morgan H.S. (Pa.). Kamulyaan, heading to Princeton in the fall, and Teasdale, who will attend Penn State, will wrestle at 130 lbs.
  • BTS is planning a clinic featuring 2012 Olympian and longtime BTS supporter Jake Herbert dina Jumaah, Mei 18, the day after the Benefit. Herbert will also be in attendance on the 17th, greeting young wrestlers, coaches and fans. BTS may also host another clinic earlier in the week; plans will be announced soon.

I did fight in the shadows of (Mike) Tyson and Roy (Si Kabayan. Jr).

 

 

 

“I fought in the Army with Ray Mercer, stung Evander Holyfield in sparring. My best fight, sanajan, hurt me the most. I was so sharp against a fighter from Kronk Gym, Vincent Boulware, in my third world title defense that year (1993). Boulware had won six of his last seven fights with four knockouts and I was just becoming a decent name, If I beat him, I was supposed to fight Tommy Hearns or Iran Barkley, who were both moving up to cruiserweight. I had the best fight of my career, but I couldn’t get any of the other world cruiserweight champs to fight me. I only had four fights in the next three years. I moved up to heavyweight because the same guys who I beat when they were my mandatory challenger (Uriah Grant & Nate Miller) worked their way back into the mandatory position.”

 

 

 

Cole grew up in Atlantic City, where he fought 18 kali, and he got to know a casino owner, Donald Trump. “We hung out,” Cole remembered. “Trump invited me to some of his private parties. I never thought he’d be president!”.

 

 

 

Mesi (36-0, 29 KOs) was so popular in Buffalo, he was considered the upstate New York city’s third sports franchise (Bills and Sabres). A top American amateur, “Baby Joe” fought professionally between 1997 jeung 2007, racking up 36 victories without a defeat, yet he never to a world title shot due to a medical issue. Ranked as high at No. 1 ku tinju Déwan Dunya (WBC) Mesi was suspended by the Nevada Commission, after he defeated former world champion Vassily Jirov by way of a 10-round unanimous decision, due to a head injury (brain bleeds).

 

 

 

Mesi was virtually blacklisted in boxing, losing two full years in the ring, while he pursued legal action to get re-licensed, which he eventually was but only by a few commissions. Joe fought seven times after being re-licensed, but he was unfortunately limited in terms of where he could fight, and he never regained the lofty status he had once held. In addition to Jirov, Mesi defeated notables such as Monte Barrett, DeVarryl Williamson and Jorge Luis Gonzalez.

Ceballo, who began boxing at 8 years-old won 11 National titles as a junior and 6 National titles as a senior which includes the 2016 National Golden Gloves title, 2017 United States National Title.

 

 

 

 

Ceballo also captured the 2014 World Series of Boxing Team Trials, and was a Olympic trials semifinalist.

YORK ÉNGGAL, Ny (14 Maret, 2018) – Dominican Featherweight prospect, Braulio Rodriguez (19-2, 17KO sacara), makes his return to the ring on Saptu, March 17th, 2018 ngalawan Christopher Diaz (22-0, 14KO sacara) from Barranquitas, Puerto Rico. The ten-round bout will take place at Madison Square Garden Theater dina York Énggal, York Énggal and will be for the WBO-NABO Super Featherweight title. The show will be promoted by Top Rank.
After a year and a half layoff, Rodriguez is excited to be back in the ring. Rodriguez was recently signed to a three-year promotional deal by Real Deal Boxing and also a managerial agreement by El Matador Management.
