LOWELL, Маса. (Лютого 11, 2017) – Central New England (Greater Lowell) division champions in the open and novice divisions were crowned last night in the final round of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium. Fans braved the frigid cold weather to support the amateur boxers.
Winners will advance to the semifinals of the New England Tournament of Champions, also held at Lowell Auditorium, початок next Thursday night with novice division. See the remaining 2017 schedule of events below as well as last night’s complete results.

LOWELL, Маса. (Лютого 3, 2017) – Fourteen exciting matches were held last night in the semifinals round of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, Central New England (Greater Lowell) поділ, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
The open and novice championship finals will be held next Thursday ніч (Лютого. 9) at Lowell Memorial Auditorium with men’s and women’s matches. See the remaining 2017 schedule of events below as well as last night’s complete results.
Last night’s action included nine novice division semifinals matches, eight men’s and one women’s, as well as four open men’s matches. Two of the open matches featured final competitions (not semifinals like the others) as Boston light heavyweight Taylor Mears, representing The Ring gym, stopped Nahua’s (Нью-Гемпшир) John Xifaris у другому турі, and North Chelmsford lightweight Брендон Хіггінс edged Dorchester’s Jonathan Depina on points, 3-2.

LOWELL, Маса. (Січень 27, 2017) – The red-hot action continued in last night’s quarterfinals round of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship of the Central New England (Greater Lowell) division as men’s and women’s open and novice matches were held in front of another great and exceedingly loud crowd at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Judges were very busy as all 10 exciting bouts, including a Junior Olympic match and two non-tournament bouts, went the complete distance. Individual standouts included a pair of open division boxers, напівсередній Michael Fontanez, of Nashua (N.H.), and Methuen (Массачусетс) в середньому Yarmarco Guzman. A representative of Nashua, PAL, Fontanez is a slick, hard hitting southpaw who shutout, 5-0, a very tough Kenny Larson, of Salem (Массачусетс). Гусман, boxing out of Canal Street Gym, looked like a veteran boxer on his way to a 5-0 shutout win over Lowell’s Julien Baptiste.

LOWELL, Маса. (Лютого 26, 2016) – Western New England dominated the open class finals of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 70ї annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, winning seven of 10 matches last night at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
The eight men’s individual open class winners earned spots on Team New England for the 2016 National Golden Gloves Championships, Травня 16-21, in Salt Lake City, Юта. “In the last 10 роки,” explained New England Golden Gloves Executive Director Bobby Russo, “we hadn’t been on a good run. Attendance dropped off a little each year. There was a younger crowd and many novice boxers had good fan bases, which we need to build up every year. We had a lot of good fights and good boxers this year. Boxing is back in Lowell! Team champions were Western N.E. in the open class, Central N.E. in the novice class.

Proceeds from the Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship go towards sending the New England Golden Gloves champions to the National Golden Gloves Championship, in addition to supporting local athletes and area gyms, the Boys & Girls Club, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, cancer funds, scholarships and many other great charitable causes.

SECOND PRO BOXING BOUT ANNOUNCED FOR NEF 22

Boutin, considered the underdog in that bout, expertly worked his jab to control the first two rounds of the fight. Brandon Montella is a 1998 graduate of Carrabec High School in North Anson, Мен. Montella had a very successful amateur boxing career with a final record of 14-7. В 2011, he won the prestigious Rocky Marciano Tournament.
