LOWELL, Mass. Fans braved the frigid cold weather to support the amateur boxers.

LOWELL, Mass. (თებერვალი 3, 2017) – Fourteen exciting matches were held last night in the semifinals round of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, ცენტრალური New England (დიდი Lowell) განყოფილების, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.

Last night’s action included nine novice division semifinals matches, eight men’s and one women’s, as well as four open men’s matches. Two of the open matches featured final competitions (not semifinals like the others) as Boston light heavyweight Taylor Mears, representing The Ring gym, stopped Nahua’s (NH) John Xifaris მეორე ტურში, and North Chelmsford lightweight Brandon Higgins edged Dorchester’s Jonathan Depina on points, 3-2.

LOWELL, Mass. (იანვარი 27, 2017) – The red-hot action continued in last night’s quarterfinals round of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship of the Central New England (დიდი Lowell) division as men’s and women’s open and novice matches were held in front of another great and exceedingly loud crowd at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Judges were very busy as all 10 exciting bouts, including a Junior Olympic match and two non-tournament bouts, went the complete distance. Individual standouts included a pair of open division boxers, welterweight Michael Fontanez, of Nashua (N.H.), and Methuen (MA) middleweight Yarmarco Guzman. A representative of Nashua, PAL, Fontanez is a slick, hard hitting southpaw who shutout, 5-0, a very tough Kenny Larson, of Salem (MA). Guzman, boxing out of Canal Street Gym, looked like a veteran boxer on his way to a 5-0 shutout win over Lowell’s Julien Baptiste.

LOWELL, Mass. (თებერვალი 26, 2016) – Western New England dominated the open class finals of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 70ე annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, winning seven of 10 matches last night at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
The eight men’s individual open class winners earned spots on Team New England for the 2016 ეროვნული ოქროს ხელთათმანების ჩემპიონატი, მაისი 16-21, in Salt Lake City, უტა. SECOND PRO BOXING BOUT ANNOUNCED FOR NEF 22

Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of a light-heavyweight contest to the boxing portion of the “NEF 22” ბრძოლის განყოფილებიდან. Crowsneck Boutin, a regular on NEF MMA cards since 2012, made his professional boxing debut earlier this month on the “NEF 21” event in Lewiston. He fought Joel Bishop (0-0-2) to a draw in an exciting slugfest that had the Colisée crowd on the edge of its collective seat. Boutin, considered the underdog in that bout, expertly worked his jab to control the first two rounds of the fight. Like the Bishop match, Boutin is preparing for another war with Montella on აპრილი 23.

Brandon Montella is a 1998 graduate of Carrabec High School in North Anson, Maine. Montella worked in construction in Virginia until 2011 when he moved with his wife to the Boston, Massachusetts area. He owns and operates The Way, LLC boxing gym in Woburn, Massachusetts.

 

“Coming back home from to Maine after all these years to fight in a place of such history is an amazing feeling,” said Montella. “It will bring my friends and family from the past and the present together under one roof for an awesome event.”

 

Montella had a very successful amateur boxing career with a final record of 14-7. In 2011, he won the prestigious Rocky Marciano Tournament. Montella went on to win the New England Golden Gloves the following year. ის აღმოჩნდა პრო 2015 and has won his first three bouts with two finishes.
