Lewiston, Maine (Mayo 30, 2016) - Luchas de Nueva Inglaterra (NEF) regalos “NEF 24: PROMISED LAND” at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston on Junio 18, 2016. Mike Hansen won two state wrestling championships competing for Mountain Valley High School (MVHS) in Rumford, Maine. Shortly after graduation, Hansen began training in MMA and made his debut in the sport in 2005. He would, sin embargo, put his MMA career on the backburner for the next decade to enlist and serve his country as a combat engineer in the United States Army. After retiring from the Army, Hansen returned to Maine and opened Berserkers MMA in Rumford, where he trains other MVHS alum to compete in the NEF cage. EnJunio 18, Hansen will face Robert Laroski (1-1).

 

“I hope he’s been training, ’cause I’ve been active starting this year,” dijo Hansen. “I’m looking for a win coming off my last fight. I will find his weaknesses and exploit them. NEF CAGES THE CAPE ON MAY 14 WITH THRILLING FIGHT CARD

Hyannis, Massachusetts (Mayo 6, 2016) – It will be no day at the beach, but they might just leave some blood on the sand. Luchas de Nueva Inglaterra (NEF) plans to storm Cape Cod on Sábado, Mayo 14, 2016 with the first-ever mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event to be held on the popular tourist destination. The northeast’s top regional fight promotion will pack up its cage in one week and make the 200-mile trek south from NEF’s base of operations in Lewiston, Maine to the Hyannis Youth & Community Center (HYCC).

 

The attention the event has received has been staggering. “The Cape Cod community has welcomed us with open arms,” dicho NEF co-propietario y promotor Nick DiSalvo. “The HYCC is a great venue with an awesome staff. Patti Lloyd at the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce has been a huge help in making this event happen as well. And we have some fantastic new sponsors on the Cape like Bodystrong Fitness who have helped us spread the word.”

 

En Efecto, the word has spread and ticket sales have been so strong, and demand so overwhelming, that the promotion had to order more chairs and tickets when cageside inventory sold out last week. “The fans were asking us to add some more cageside seats, so we happily accommodated them,” noted DiSalvo.

 

And fight fans in attendance will be treated to a night filled with wild cage action. The card is stacked with world class wrestlers and martial artists from Maine, Cape Cod and Massachusetts’ South Shore. Hyannis-based Team Juniko will be prominently featured in no less than six of the evening’s bouts.

 

Brendan “Bloqueo de Down” batallas (0-0) of Juniko is scheduled to make his professional MMA debut in the heavyweight main event, locking horns with Micro “El Bigote” Hansen (4-3). Battles was a three-time All American wrestler out of nearby Nauset Regional High School where he won two state championships and three New England championships. Era 2-0 as an amateur MMA fighter. Hansen has a wrestling pedigree of his own, having captured a state title for Mountain Valley High School in Rumford, Maine. Hansen is a ten-year-plus veteran of the MMA cage.

 

The co-main event of the evening will feature a rematch from “NEF 15” en noviembre 2014. “Inastillable 2.0” Derek Shorey (3-6) will look to avenge a loss to Mate “Ken Muñeca” Denning (2-2). Shorey’s supporters have claimed for the past year-and-a-half that Denning’s submission victory was a fluke and that Denning would not be able to defeat Shorey a second time should the pair ever meet again. Those claims will be put to the test in Hyannis in this lightweight rematch.

 

“It was a short notice fight that NEF asked for, and I know Derek wanted a rematch,” dijo Denning. “After I beat him again, I’ll prove it wasn’t a fluke. I wanted this fight so I could get some new fans in Massachusetts and show my skills. I have had two losses in a row to great guys and want to get back in the win column.”

 

“I thought I could beat him the first time, and he caught me with an armbar,” Shorey admitted. “This time I will leave that cage the victor.”

The fight will take place at the middleweight limit of 185-pounds.

 

The amateur headliner will see Dustin Veinott (4-4) in a flyweight showdown with Ryan “Razzle Dazzle” Kane (4-3). Veinott is the former NEF MMA Amateur Flyweight Champion. He dropped the title in a very close split decision loss to Ryan Burgess (2-0) en noviembre pasado. Kane, from Plymouth, Massachusetts, is a member of Team Juniko and an accomplished competitor in the ancient Greek martial art of Pankration.

Johanson’s opponent pulled out of their bout on fight day two weeks ago at “NEF 22.” Not one to let a good fight camp go to waste, Johanson agreed to take the fight with Forlenza in Hyannis.

 

In another 160-pound catchweight bout, Steve-Bang (3-4) adquiere Fabian Miranda (2-0). Bang is a member of the famous father-sons fighting family of Auburn, Maine. Miranda represents Team Juniko and will look to add to his undefeated record in the fight with Bang.

 

Rounding out the fight card is a 190-pound catchweight bout featuring Anthony Spira (0-1) y Thomas Lee Davis (1-0). Spires, an independent fighter from Maine, hopes to rebound from a loss in his debut last fall at “NEF XX.” Davis is a member of Team Juniko.

Brendan “Lock Down” Battles (0-0) has signed to face Mike “The Mustache” Hansen (4-3) in a professional bout at a fight weight of 265-pounds.

 

Brendan Battles is a native of Eastham, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. There, he was a three-time All American wrestler for Nauset Regional High School. During his high school career, Battles captured a total of two state championships and three New England championships with an amazing 161 wins to his credit prior to graduating in 2012. A multi-sport athlete, he later played defensive end and tackle for the University of Connecticut. Battles made his NEF debut earlier this year at “NEF 21: THE IMMORTALS” when he efficiently dispatched of Mike Hansen’s Berserkers teammate, David Smith (2-2) in the first round via TKO ref stoppage. Battles trains out of Gracie Fitness and is a member of Team Juniko based out of Hyannis.

 

“I look forward to Mike coming down to my backyard for my first professional fight,” said Battles. “I know he is a tough fighter, but I look forward to showcasing the skills I have acquired thus far as I continue my journey to become a well-rounded MMA fighter.”

NEW CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT NEF 22 En Lewiston

Lewiston, Maine (Abril 23, 2016) - Luchas de Nueva Inglaterra (NEF), Número uno de la promoción de lucha regional de América, celebró su evento más reciente, “NEF 22: TODOS LOS CAMINOS CONDUCEN AQUÍ,” Sábado por la noche en el Androscoggin Bank Colisée en Lewiston, Maine. The headliner of the amateur MMA card saw Caleb Salón (7-3) captured the vacant amateur featherweight title with a second-round submission of Erik Nelson (2-3). On the professional side of the MMA card, Devin Powell (6-1) took home the lightweight championship by defeating Jesse Erickson (6-5) in the first round via technical knockout.

Lewiston, Maine (Febrero 7, 2016) - Luchas de Nueva Inglaterra (NEF), Número uno de la promoción de lucha regional de América, celebró su evento más reciente, “NEF 21: LOS INMORTALES” Sábado noche en el Coliseo Banco Androscoggin en Lewiston, Maine. The Colisée was a packed house for the promotion’s second hybrid mixed-martial-arts (MMA) and professional boxing event. Fight fans were treated to a marathon evening of nonstop action featuring 26 bouts in total.

 

In the MMA main event of the evening, in what can only be described as a “thriller,” Bruce “Pretty Boy” Boyington (13-8) defeated Jon Lemke (5-4) via split decision to retain the NEF MMA Professional Lightweight Title. Boyington and Lemke battled back-and-forth for five brutal rounds in what many in attendance were calling one of the best fights in NEF history.

 

In the boxing headliner, Northeast Junior Welterweight Champion Brandon “El Cañón” Berry (11-1) handed Tollison Lewis the first loss of his professional boxing career (2-1) with a second-round stoppage via technical knockout (QUIEN).

 

On the amateur MMA portion of the card, three inaugural champions were crowned. Ryan Glover (3-1) took home the light heavyweight title after defeating Mike Williams (1-1), while Johnny Crafts (4-0) captured the bantamweight strap and Ricky Dexter (5-2) won the welterweight championship.

 

NEF also announced that its next event would take place on Abril 23, 2016, once again at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston.

Lewiston, Maine (Agosto 17, 2015) - Luchas de Nueva Inglaterra (NEF), Número uno de la promoción de lucha regional de América, celebrará su decimonovena mixtos de artes marciales (MMA) evento, “NEF XIX: REGRESO AL HOGAR,” en sábado, Septiembre 12, 2015 en el Androscoggin Banco Coliseo en Lewiston, Maine. Recientemente, Boutin fue NEF co-propietario y armador de peleas de invitados de Matt Peterson en la NEF Podcast. Boutin y Peterson tocaron en su primera reunión hace unos tres años y medio, poco antes de Boutin debutó aficionado en “NEF III.”

 

“Yo estaba saliendo con unos amigos que consiguieron entradas para su (NEF) primer evento, así que fui a eso y fue lo más grande,” recordó Boutin. “Recuerdo haber hablado con la gente y luego ponerse en contacto con usted. Realmente no estaba haciendo nada en ese momento. Me sentía un poco perdido. Yo estaba un poco aferrado a la sensación de falta. Sólo quería hacer algo. Más, Me gustaba luchar y desechos. Yo siempre vi el deporte. Supongo que simplemente todos se reunieron en ese momento.”

 

Sin entrenamiento formal, Boutin perdería su primer combate. Poco después, Peterson puso Boutin en contacto con el entrenador Jon Pinette del Instituto Choi en Portland, Maine. Es allí que Boutin encontró el equilibrio en las artes marciales mientras, al mismo tiempo, forjar fuertes lazos de amistad y las relaciones con sus compañeros de equipo.

Boutin tomó la decisión de convertirse en profesional a principios de este año después de haber competido en un total de 13 peleas como amateur. Él derrotaría entrenador de MMA Athletix Ryan Cowette (2-3) en su debut. Al hacerlo, Boutin ganó una medida de venganza como lo había sido el protegido de Cowette Brent Dillingham (1-1) quien había entregado Boutin su primera derrota en el debut amateur Boutin en “NEF III.” Boutin dice que realmente no había animosidad entre él y Cowette, pero el cambio posterior a la pelea entre Boutin y Dillingham a “NEF III” en 2012 se encuentra todavía en el fondo de su mente.
