The 22-year-old Lubin (18-1, 13 KOs) will compete in action on April 28 in his first fight back since dropping his first world title challenge to Jermell Charlo last October. The former amateur star defeated Ivan Montero in a PBC on FOX and FOX Deportes fight in 2016 as he climbed up the super welterweight ranks. The Orlando-native will face the 24-year-old Cortes (26-3, 14 KOs), who has won three of his last four fights and lives and trains in Mexico.

PASSO, TX (Março 28, 2018) – Action will be the order of the evening as a trio of hotly-contested showdowns will highlight an exciting night Saturday, Abril 28 live in primetime on Premier Boxing Champions on FOX and FOX Deportes from the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.

 

Josesito Lopez, known as “The Riverside Rocky”, will battle rising contender Miguel Cruz in a 10-round welterweight showdown. Former super middleweight world champion Anthony Dirrell takes on El Paso’s Abraham Han in a 10-round 168-pound skirmish. The night also features unbeaten Mexican featherweight contenderJorge Lara clashing with Dominican brawler Claudio Marrero in the 10-round opening bout that kicks off coverage at 8:30 p.m. E / 5:30 p.m. PT.

Lopez (35-7, 19 KOs) is a battle-tested veteran who has been in the ring with some of the top boxers in the sport, including Marcos Maidana, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Jessie Vargas. The 33-year-old Lopez of Riverside, California scored one of the biggest wins of his career when he stopped Victor Ortiz by TKO in 2012. He has been on a two-fight win streak since losing to Andre Berto and in his last fight he defeated Saul Corral by a unanimous decision on April 9, 2017 live on FS1.

 

 

 

“Miguel Cruz has not faced a fighter on my level,” disse López. “I’m the most experienced fighter that Cruz will have fought. I’m confident in my abilities and the fact that I will come out with a victory. I’m ready to go straight through Miguel Cruz and prove I’m one of the best welterweights in the world.”

 

 

 

Cruz (17-0, 11 KOs) will be taking a major step forward in his career when he takes on Lopez. The 27-year-old Cruz of Lake Mary, Florida was a member of the Puerto Rican national team as an amateur and picked up four victories in 2017. In his last fight he battled adversity by overcoming two cuts to score a unanimous decision over David Grayton on Nov. 21 on FS1 and also defeated then unbeaten Alex Martin twice in 2017 in a pair of exciting contests on FS1.

 

 

 

“I am incredibly excited to have a fight of this magnitude because this is what I’ve always worked for,” disse Cruz. “I’m so ready to test my skills against somebody like Josesito Lopez. I belong to a new era in boxing, and I’m going to shine for the world on April 28. This is going to be an amazing fight for the fans and I’m ready for everyone to enjoy my performance.”

 

 

 

Dirrell (31-1-1, 24 KOs), a former super middleweight world champion from Flint, Michigan, is coming off a technical decision victory over Denis Douglin in November on FS1. The 33-year-old Dirrell won the title with a unanimous decision over Sakio Bika in 2015 before dropping a majority decision in 2016 to Badou Jack. Since that loss, Dirrell has won four straight, including a TKO victory over current 168-pound world champion Caleb Truax in 2016.

 

 

 

“Abraham Han is a good fighter coming off of a tough draw with J’Leon Love, and a guy you can’t look past,” Disse Dirrell. “Caleb Truax proved that by beating James DeGale for the title, so I’m truly focused on this fight right now. He’s a tall, switch-hitter who comes straight forward, but that’s nothing I can’t handle because I’m always ready and in shape to stick to my game plan and execute. I’m always looking for the knockout, and if it comes, then it comes, and I’ll get him out of there.”

 

 

 

Ter (26-3-1, 16 KOs) returns to fight in his hometown of El Paso for the ninth time, including a victory he picked up at Don Haskins Center in his fifth pro fight. The 33-year-old is looking to rebound from a technical draw against J’Leon Love last September, in a fight many thought Han was winning before the referee stopped the fight due to a cut caused by an accidental headbutt. He had won three fights in a row heading into that bout against Love.

 

 

 

“Anthony Dirrell probably sees me as someone that he can beat while he waits for a title shot, but I’m looking to mess up his plans,” said Han. “I felt like I won my last fight with J’Leon and would have easily beat him if it wasn’t stopped. This is another great opportunity to fight in my hometown of El Paso. I’ll focus on winning round-by-round and putting on a great show for my fans. I know everyone is going to come out and support me and help carry me to this victory.”

 

 

 

Lara (29-0-1, 21 KOs) has scored two victories, including a knockout against former champion Fernando Montiel, since he had a technical draw against Jesus Rojas in 2015. He knocked down Montiel four times on the way to the first round stoppage in their April 2016 showdown on FOX. The 27-year-old southpaw from Guadalajara, Mexico has shown heavy hands for a featherweight and is coming off a TKO victory over Mario Briones in his last fight on May 20 on FS1.

 

 

 

“I have been training with former champion Alejandro Gonzalez, and four weeks out from the fight, I am already in excellent condition and in tremendous fighting shape,” Disse Lara. “I know that this is a very important fight, and that Marrero is a very tough opponent, but I am going to be the winner because I am determined to continue on my road toward winning a world title. Marrero (22-2, 16 KOs) was riding an eight-fight win streak before losing by knockout to Jesus Rojas in his last fight. Inside of that eight-fight win streak the 29-year-old Dominican southpaw scored a sensational knockout victory over Carlos Zambrano to earn an interim featherweight title on FS1. The only other blemish on Marrero’s record was a unanimous decision loss to former world champion Jesus Cuellar in 2013.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL. (Novembro 21, 2017) – O ex-campeão do mundo Devon Alexander (27-4, 14 KOs) returned to the ring in impressive style as he dominated Walter Castillo (26-5-1, 19 KOs) on his way to a unanimous decision in the main event of Premier Boxe dos Campeões TERÇA TOE-de-toe em FS1 eBoxe dos Campeões na Fox Deportes Terça-feira night from The Coliseum in St. Petersburg, Florida.
“This feels really good,” disse Alexander. “I’ve been on a journey that I didn’t expect to go through and I’m thankful to be back in the ring and have my career back.”
Returning to the ring for the first time daqui a dois anos, Alexander was sharp from the outset, using the skills that made him a two-division champion to befuddle Castillo. Alexander’s jab found its’ range from the beginning and he slowly began to work in straight left hands that he would land frequently to maintain control of the action.
“My coach was telling me to pick it up throughout the fight,” disse Alexander. “The rust got to me a little bit. I know that I can be more active. I really started to feel warmed up later in the fight. I know that I can do way better but I was happy to have this experience.”
Na segunda rodada, Alexander scored a highlight reel knockdown of Castillo as he landed a powerful par of straight left hands sandwich around a right uppercut. Castillo continued to try to walk Alexander down and stayed persistent in throwing power punches as much as he could over the course of the fight.
“He kept moving side to side and didn’t really stay in there and fight,” disse Castillo. “I wanted him to run less but I just kept coming forward trying to throw punches. I got dazed a little from the knockdown but nothing bad. That was more about his speed.”
Alexander proved to be too sharp throughout the welterweight affair, consistently avoiding Castillo’s big punches and delivering his own varied and effective attack. Depois 10 rounds, Alexander was officially back in the win column with a unanimous decision by scores of 100-89 duas vezes e 96-93.
“I love doing what I do,” disse Alexander. “This is what I was born to do since I was seven-years-old. I’m thankful to be back doing what I love.

The opening bout of the telecast saw unbeaten Miguel Cruz (17-0, 11 KOs) earn a close unanimous decision over David Grayton (15-2-1, 11 KOs) in a competitive welterweight clash.
Both fighters took their time getting started in round one before Grayton broke through in round two and stunned Cruz against the ropes late in the round. Cruz bounced back in round three landing a right hand late in the third round that forced Grayton to tie up and eventually tackle Cruz to the canvas in order to survive the round.
Cruz suffered his first cut of the fight during the round three exchange but fought through the wound under his right eye and dropped Grayton with a jab early in round six to score a crucial knockdown. The intensity of the fight continued into the eighth round when Grayton began to tee-off on Cruz as blood poured from a second cut, this one above Cruz’s right eye.
The back and forth battle continued until the final bell, with both men throwing wildly as the referee attempted to break up the action. Depois 10 rounds all three judges saw the fight in favor of Cruz by the score of 96-93.

The 30-year-old Alexander (26-4, 14 KOs) will end a two-year layoff due to health issues when he steps in against Castillo. Alexander, de St. Louis, Missouri, won the 147-pound world championship with a unanimous decision victory over Randall Bailey in 2012. He lost the title via unanimous decision against Shawn Porter the next year. Alexander, a southpaw, was a unified champion at 140-pounds and owns victories over Marcos Maidana, Lucas Matthysse and Jesus Soto Karass.
“Two years is a long time to be away from something you love but I wanted to make sure when I come back that I would be 100 percent my old self,” Alexander said. “My last outings were not me, and a lot of my fans and people that know me are aware of that. I’ve been in constant training since then while getting my personal situation in order. Castillo is a good solid fight that is going to bring the best skills out of me. He’s not a slouch and he’s coming to fight. But it’s not about what Castillo coming to do. It’s about me making a statement to show people that I am still up there with the elite fighters, and I know that when I’m right, nobody can beat me.”
After campaigning the last few years at 140 libras, Castelo (26-4-1, 19 KOs) is stepping up to 147 pounds to take on the former champion Alexander. The 29-year-old Castillo, de Manágua, Nicarágua, will be ending a 16-month layoff onNovembro 21. BELÉM, PA. (Junho 28, 2017) – Miguel Cruz (16-0, 11 KOs) ganhou uma decisão unânime para derrotar Alex Martin (13-2, 5 KOs) e permaneceu invicto em uma revanche dos meio-médios que encabeçou Premier Boxe dos Campeões TERÇA TOE-de-toe em FS1 eBoxe dos Campeões na Fox Deportes Terça-feira noite do Sands Bethlehem Events Center em Belém, Pa.
Depois de vencer uma decisão dividida contra Martin no confronto de janeiro, Cruz manteve seu recorde perfeito intacto ao marcar dois knockdowns antes de tomar a decisão em seu confronto de 10 rounds.
“Sinceramente, não me senti bem na nossa primeira luta e quando re-assisti, Eu pensei que Martin ganhou,” disse Cruz. “Isso me fez treinar cada vez mais do que nunca para provar que tenho as habilidades e o poder para competir em nível mundial, e acho que fiz isso hoje à noite.”
Cruz começou rápido ao acertar um enorme gancho de esquerda que pegou Martin e o derrubou no final do primeiro round. Martin conseguiu se levantar e se recuperar pouco antes do sino soar para encerrar a rodada.
Martin continuou tentando trabalhar por dentro, mas Cruz estava determinado a empurrar para trás e aterrissou consistentemente com grandes tiros de força. Outro gancho de esquerda na quarta rodada mandou Martin para o tatame novamente, embora ele parecesse menos afetado do que durante o primeiro knockdown.
“Eu estava lutando contra sua luta hoje à noite,” disse Martin. “Eu simplesmente não tive meu melhor desempenho. O primeiro knockdown foi um knockdown real, mas no segundo knockdown ele me acertou na parte de trás da cabeça.”
A quinta rodada viu Martin começar a boxear de forma mais eficaz, pousando várias mãos direitas antes de um gancho de esquerda cair baixo, mandando Cruz para a lona e fazendo com que o árbitro Gary Rosato interrompesse a luta enquanto Cruz se recuperava.
Quando a ação recomeçou, Martin continuou a virar a maré da luta. Seu movimento foi muito eficaz e seu sucesso com a mão esquerda foi consistente ao longo das rodadas de cinco a oito.
“Martin foi super difícil,” disse Cruz. “Eu não achava que ele conseguiria sair da segunda rodada, mas ele definitivamente me deu problemas. Eu estava tentando impedi-lo.”

Cruz and Martin first clashed on a PBC card this January, with both men looking to bolster their perfect records at the time. It was a matchup featuring two distinct styles as the lankier orthodox Cruz favored using power punches throughout the fight while the southpaw Martin tried to box and ride his speed and jab to victory. The young welterweights delivered consistent exciting exchanges before the decision went to the judges, who delivered a split decision with one judging scoring the fight for Martin and two favoring the work of Cruz.
“I won the first fight between us and I’m here to prove that,” disse Cruz. “I will be victorious again and this time everyone will be able to do it. I’m going to get the win in even more convincing fashion. I’m looking forward to this fight and I’m not planning on letting it go the distance.”
“This fight will not go the distance,” disse Martin. “It will end early. He is not as good as his record says. Everyone who has seen the first fight knows it was a bad decision. I think even he knows he lost. I will make a more emphatic statement this fight. I will do in this fight what I should have done last night.”

Nascido em Aguada, Puerto Rico and now residing in Lake Mary, Florida, the 26-year-old Cruz was a member of the Puerto Rico National Team as an amateur. LAS VEGAS, NV (Janeiro 20, 2017) – Erislandy Lara, the WBA/IBO 154-pound champion, scored two knockouts in his match against Yuri Foreman in Miami on Premier Championship Boxing em Spike TV last Friday night. One in the ring to retain his world titles and another in the ratings.
