QUINCY, Offeren. (Gorffennaf 31, 2017) – Ar ddydd Sadwrn nos, Awst 5, three-time world title challenge Aleksandra Lopes (17-4-2, 1 KO) is taking on former world super lightweight champion Lisa Garland (15-7-1, 8 Kos) in the eight-round co-featured event on theFight Night at the Bay” Cerdyn, largely to try and better position herself for one final world title shot.

Fight Night at the Bay” Cerdyn, presented by Granite Chin Promotions, will be held at Marina Bay Sportplex in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Former New England. pencampwr pwysau welter Derek Silveira (12-1, 6 Kos), fighting out of Salem (MA), Bydd yn cyfarfod cyn Challenger teitl y byd Michael “Gwaed Oer” Clark (44-16-1, 18 Kos) in the eight-round main event.
Poland-native Lopes (17-4-2, 1 KO), fighting out of Marshfield (MA), is a 37-year-old lawyer who practices in Brockton (MA). She lost a pair of vacant World Boxing Council (CLlC) Super Welterweight title fights to a Pole in Poland, Swede in Sweden. Last September, Lopes lost a 10-round decision to Ewa Piatkowska (9-1) yng Ngwlad Pwyl; she dropped a 10-round majority decision in Sweden to Mikaela Lauren (22-3) mewn 2014. Yn 2013, Lopes lost a 10-round unanimous decision in Rhode Island to Tori Nelson (6-0-3) for the vacant International Boxing Association (IBA) World Welterweight Championship.
The highlight of Lopes’ 8 ½-year professional career, hyd yn hyn, is her 10-round complete shutout (100-90 X 3) decision victory, Gorffennaf 30, 2016, i Szilvia Szagbados (13-6) yn Plymouth (MA) for the vacant WBC Silver female welterweight crown. Lopes has also defeated world champions Yvonne Reis ac Kali Reis.
Lopes vs. Garland has world title fight implications for the winner. “I’d like to position myself for one more world title shot,” Lopes said. “I’m still learning every fight and I haven’t reached my plateau yet. Garland has good experience, she’s been around as long as I’ve been fighting. I can’t afford to lose this fight, but I’ve always had that in the back of my mind. I need an experienced opponent like her to push me, to learn something new, and I always like to fight at home.
It’s tough to fight here (U.S.) for a world title. You almost always need to travel overseas. We’re limited here because of the required purse (for the defending champion to come to the states) and sanctioning fees for promoters in America. Women’s boxing is more popular in Europe, Mexico and parts of South America. But I have had a very good run and great relationships with New England promoters, who’ve put me on their cards.
I think women’s boxing maybe, just maybe, will start changing if the trend continues as fighters such as Clarissa Shields ac Katie Taylor, women boxers who’ve made names in the Olympics, keep turning pro. Amanda Serrano has gotten some good exposure fighting on television, hefyd. We’ve had to travel for world title fights but, hopefully, things are changing for the better.
Other top N.E. boxers will also be in action Awst. 5, including Iraq War veteran Chris Traietti (23-4, 19 Kos), of Quincy, sy'n sgwariau ffwrdd yn erbyn Nick Lavin (4-5, 4 Kos), of Shelton (CT) for the vacant New England cruiserweight title in an eight-round bout. Traietti is also the co-promoter ofFight Night at the Bay”.
Fighting on the undercard in six-round bouts are Dorchester (MA) pwysau welter Gabriel Duluc (11-2, 2 Kos) vs. Norwalk’s (CT) Shakha Moore (12-23-3, 2 Kos), Quincy’s undefeated U.S. Marine veteran Brandon Montella (7-0, 6 Kos) vs. Florida light heavyweight “Arian” Mike Sawyer (7-8, 5 Kos), and Ireland-native and Quincy junior middleweight Paddy Irwin (3-0, 2 Kos) vs. Philly’s Demetrius Thomas (0-4). Holbrook, MA welterweight Mike O’Han, Jr. (1-0) takes on Dorchester’s (MA) Daniel Amaro (0-2-1) in a four-round match.

Derek Silveira making up for lost time HeadliningFight Night at the Bay

I'W RYDDHAU AR UNWAITH
Dydd Sadwrn nos, Awst 5, in Quincy, MA
QUINCY, Offeren. (Gorffennaf 18, 2017) – Former New England. pencampwr pwysau welter Derek Silveira Is trying to make up for lost time, 3 ½ years of ring inactivity from the summer of 2013 until this past April, as he prepares to headline the August 5fedFight Night at the Bay” Cerdyn, presented by Granite Chin Promotions, at Marina Bay Sportplex in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Silveira (12-1, 6 Kos), fighting out of Salem (MA), will face former world title challenger Michael “Gwaed Oer” Clark (44-16-1, 18 Kos) in the eight-round main event.
The 31-year-old Silveira fought for a long time with bones spurs in his right elbow. He underwent surgery and later went to training camp in Las Vegas for a fight that, yn anffodus, fell through. Yna, as a worker for a moving company, he fell through steps, resulting in torn labrum in his left hip. It took a terribly frustrating 1 ½ years for his insurance company to finally approve the operation, which was followed, wrth gwrs, by a lengthy therapy program.
A long process,” Silveira said. “It was tough watching everybody fight while I was unable. I even had to watch guys fight for the New England title that I never lost in the ring but was unable to keep because I couldn’t fight.
Silveira was a decorated New England amateur boxer with more than 300 gemau, including six consecutive Central Mass (Lowell) Golden Gloves titles and two New England championships (he lost a decision one year to current world junior middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade), as well as multiple Rocky Marciano Tournament gold medals to go along with those he won at the Silver Mittens and Junior Olympics.
Nawr 31 and having fought the past 20 flynyddoedd, Silveira is hungry to prove himself on a grander scale, gan ddechrau Awst. 5 with Clark. “He will be a good test for me for a comparison to where I was in the past,” Silveira commented about his veteran opponent. “Clark is a veteran who fights on his toes. I used to watch him when he was on Y Contender (televised realty show). My sparring partner back then was (y diweddar) Jeff Fraza, who also was on Y Contender. It’ll be good to see where I am.
I grew up as a boxer. I had huge legs, strong upper body, and good footwork. I played soccer as a kid. I lacked power. The last few years I’ve worked on my power. Nawr, Rwy'n paffiwr-Puncher. Ar gyfer y frwydr hon, I will start out boxingmy endurance will be thereand then I’ll look to take him out in the later rounds. I want to look good and not get hit by his strong right hand.
Silveira has one of the largest fan-bases in New England, largely from North Shore (o Boston) cymunedau, and Derek knows that they will be out in force supporting him Awst. 5. “My fans travel,” he insisted. “Quincy isn’t too far from the North Shore, certainly closer than Foxwoods (Mashantucket, CT), and I had a lot of fans there. My fans are overpowering; so loud and a little crazy.”.
Many of NE’s other best and most popular professional boxers will be in action Awst. 5. The eight-round fight between three-time world title challenger, pwysau welter Aleksandra Lopes (17-4-2, 1 KO), of Marshfield (MA), and former world super lightweight champion Lisa Garland (15-7-1, 8 Kos) has been elevated to co-feature because of its potential world title fight implications for the winner.
Quincy fighter Chris Traietti (23-4, 19 Kos) wynebau Nick Lavin (4-5, 4 Kos), of Shelton (CT) for the vacant New England cruiserweight title in an eight-round bout. Traietti is also the co-promoter ofFight Night at the Bay”, in addition to being a former World Boxing Council (CLlC) United States cruiserweight titlist, college graduate and Iraq War veteran.
Fighting on the undercard in six-round bouts are Dorchester (MA) pwysau welter Gabriel Duluc (11-2, 2 Kos) vs. Norwalk’s (CT) Shaka Moore (12-23-3, 2 Kos), Quincy’s undefeated U.S. Marine veteran Brandon Montella (7-0, 6 Kos) vs. Florida light heavyweight “Arian” Mike Sawyer (7-8, 5 Kos), and Irreland-native and Quincy junior middleweight Paddy Irwin (3-0, 2 Kos) vs. Philly’s Demetrius Thomas (0-4). Undefeated prospect Irvin Gonzalez (6-0, 6 Kos), 21, headlines at home in his first scheduled eight-round bout, yn erbyn Raul Lopez (10-2-1, 5 Kos), o Bronx (NY), for the vacant UBF All-American super featherweight championship.
I am excited to be able to have our first world championship boxing match on our ‘New England’s 3’ Digwyddiad bocsio,” promoter Jose Rivera commented. “It’s special because it’s a women’s World Heavyweight title fight with veterans like Sonya and Laura, who also have some hostilities towards one another. They’ve both earned this opportunity to fight for the UBF Women’s World Heavyweight Championship. I expect fireworks and know fans will be in for a treat.
Pro boxing returns to the DCU Center for the first time mewn 11 flynyddoedd, when promoter Jose Antonio Rivera defeated Alejandro Garcia, by way of a 12-round unanimous decision, for the World Boxing Association (WBA) World super welterweight title.
Born in Greece, Lamonakis (10-2-2, 1 KO), who grew-up in Turners Falls (MA), is a teacher in New York City. She is a Springfield College graduate and has two Master’s Degrees. “I’m honored to be fighting in the first world title fight in Worcester since Jose Rivera,” Lamonakis said. “I’m from Massachusetts and I fought twice at Mechanics Hall (yng Nghaerwrangon, including her pro debut in 2010). I heard Jose was promoting shows in Worcester, so I called to say I’d like to fight for a world title on one of his cards. I think he saw me fight before and he quickly agreed.
This is still a make-dominates sport. I tell young girls to box as a side job. I have two Master’s Degrees and I’m a full-time teacher in New York. Boxing is my hobby. Very few women can make enough money boxing to make a good living. I don’t know if it’s because I was born in Greece and boxing is in my blood, but I love this sport and that’s what keeps me going. I guess I was born to fight. I enjoy getting in the ring. I’ve gotten a lot from boxing and now I’m giving back to amateurs in New York City as president of a youth organization.
Lamonakis; is a former International Boxing Organization World and New York State female heavyweight champion. Her opponent, Ramsey (10-7, Kos), as a two-time world title challenger is hoping the third time is the charm for her. They have history together and this fight nearly happened a few years ago.
I beat her daughter (Alysia Williams-Stevenson) in my second pro fight,” Lamonakis explained. “She said she’s see me and now, seven years later, we’re fighting. She’s a little older than me and I needed more fights before I fought her. We were supposed to fight a few years ago in Aruba but a hurricane cancelled the show.

Budding star Irvin Gonzalez Starting to make waves in Super featherweight division

I'W RYDDHAU AR UNWAITH
New England’s Future 3June 10th yng Nghaerwrangon, MA

WORCESTER, Offeren. (Mai 24, 2017) – New England’s top prospect with 10 pro fights of less, undefeated hometown favorite Irvin Gonzalez, is on a fast track going into his June 10fed headline fight in the third installment of the “Dyfodol Newydd Lloegr” Cyfres, yn y Ganolfan DCU (Exhibition Hall) yng Nghaerwrangon, Massachusetts.

New England’s Future 3is presented by Rivera Promotions Entertainment (RPE), which is owned and operated by retired three-time, bencampwr byd dau is-adran Jose Antonio Rivera a'i fab, Anthonee (A.J.) Rivera.
The 21-year-old Gonzalez (6-0, 6 Kos) yn cymryd ar Raul Lopez (10-2-1, 5 Kos), o Bronx (NY), in an eight-round main event for the vacant Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) All-American super featherweight championship.
Pro boxing returns to the DCU Center for the first time mewn 11 flynyddoedd, yn eironig, when promoter Jose Antonio Rivera defeated Alejandro Garcia, by way of a 12-round unanimous decision, for the World Boxing Association (WBA) World super welterweight title.
I am excited to watch Irvin’s boxing career flourish,” promoter Jose Rivera remarked. “He has all the tools to become a world champion. Fighting for the UBF championship will be the first of many and I am glad that we are able to give him this opportunity. I see big things for Irvin and I hope fans come out Dydd Sadwrn nos, Mehefin 10fed, to support him and the other local boxers.”.
“Mae hwn yn gyfle gwych i mi,” Dywedodd Gonzalez. “I’m blessed to be fighting in Worcester for my first title. It’s not a big title but it’s like taking baby steps to a world title. Since I started boxing at the Boys & Clwb Merched, I always wanted to be like Jose, a three-time world champion. Nawr, it’s my turn, and I’m fighting again in my city.
Gonzalez has a perfect pro record: six rights, six wins by knockout. Fodd bynnag, he’s only had fought a grand total of eight rounds, and June 10fed he’s in a scheduled eight-round match. The well-spoken youngster isn’t concerned with the step up in rounds and opposition.
I’ve been asked about that by a lot of media, trainers and other fighters,” he explained. “I’ve always trained like it’s for a world title fight, 12 rowndiau, so I’m not worried about going into deep water. I’m in magnificent shape, three weeks before the fight, and even in the amateurs I’ve always gotten stronger as the fight went along. In sparring, I get stronger, so going eight isn’t a problem for me.
I don’t really know much about my opponent. He won a few national titles but hasn’t fought too often. I’ll see what he brings into the ring and then adjust. I know I’m taller.
Gonzalez learned a lot when he was a sparring partner for Guillermo Rigondeaux in Florida that was supposed to be a six-week training camp that ended after three weeks due to Rigondeauxfight being cancelled.
I learned a lot about different training methods that I now use,” Irvin continued. “His techniques are phenomenal. I was around a world champion, two-time Olympic gold medalist and I saw his work ethic. After all he’s accomplished, he still has a great work ethic, and I learned from him that a fighter need continue working like he does until the day it’s all over. It’s not all about money, it’s having fun every day, doing what we love.

Matt “Sharp ShooterRemillard’s Ring comeback no April Fool’s Joke

New England’s Future 2”, Ebrill 1 yng Nghaerwrangon

Matt Remillard (canolfan) is prepared to make up for lost time
(photo by Emily Harney / Team Remillard)
WORCESTER, Offeren. (Mawrth 20, 2017) – The long trip back begins April 1st am Matt “Sharp ShooterRemillard, 12 years to the day from his professional debut, ar y “New England’s Future 2show at the Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Remillard (23-1, 13 Kos), fighting out of Manchester, Connecticut, hasn’t boxed for the six years, due to him serving a five-year prison sentence. He takes on Lawrence (MA) ysgafn Augustine “Ddidostur” Maura (6-1-3, 3 Kos) in the eight-round co-feature. If their tense, near volatile stare-down at a recent press conference is a true indication, Remillard vs. Mauras is not going the distance, to put things mildly.
New England’s Future 2is presented by Rivera Promotions Entertainment (RPE), which is owned and operated by retired three-time, bencampwr byd dau is-adran Jose Antonio Rivera a'i fab, Anthonee (A.J.) Rivera.
I am excited to have a boxer of Remillard’s caliber on our ‘New England’s Future 2’ Digwyddiad bocsio,” promoter Jose Antonio Rivera remarked. “He has a tough match against August time Mauras for his first fight back. Knowing Remillard, er bod, he wouldn’t have it any other way. I want to thank Matt, Paul Cichon (pen hyfforddwr) and their team for trusting Rivera Promotions Entertainment for Matt’s first boxing match back from his long layoff.
Remillard is a former World Boxing Council (CLlC) Unol Daleithiau & Youth World, North American Boxing Federation (NABF) a Sefydliad Bocsio Byd (WBO) featherweight champion. His lone pro loss came in his last fight, Mawrth 23, 2011 in Atlantic City to then rising star Mikey Garcia (24-0), when Remillard retired after 11 rowndiau. He won’t make excuses; Fodd bynnag,, he never should have taken the fight with Garcia, facing the impending court case that sent him to prison and working with a new head trainer he’d only met two weeks prior to the fight.
I’m confident I can get back to where I was in about a year,” the 30-year-old Remillard said. “A dream come true would be a rematch with Garcia, at any weight, but I have to earn that shot. Everybody wants a rematch with the guy who gave you the first loss. It seldom happens but, os nad, in time I believe there will be other big fights out there for me.
I’m fighting an opponent who fought by buddy, Chip Perez, dair gwaith (0-2-1), so I’m familiar with his style. He doesn’t back down. I don’t expect him to back down against meuntil he feels my power. I’m going to take out those five years that I was away on him. I’ve been through so much the last six year but I’m most comfortable in the gym. The past is past and this is my last run. Paul and I have a lot of unfinished business to take care of.
Seventeen years ago, Chicon first met Remillard at the Manchester PAL gym, but he made the 13-year-old aspiring boxer earn his opportunity to be trained. Paul made Matt clean the bathrooms, take care of spit buckets, ac ati. before he started training him.
When he returned to the gym a few months back, I saw that his work ethic hadn’t faded,” Cichon commented. “I don’t believe he’s really that far away from where he was six years ago. He was idle five years but his first day back he sparred 12 rowndiau. He stayed in good physical shape and is hungrier than ever. He thinks he has something to prove after his last fight, but he really doesn’t have anything to prove to me or anybody else. He is fighting a tough kid but Matt’s going to be victorious. I think in four or five more fights he’ll be back where he was in boxing.
Pembroke (MA) cruiserweight VinnieAmerican NightmareCarita (15-1-1, 14 KOs will headline against Brazilian KO specialist Gilberto MatheusEl MagicoDomingos (22-6, 20 Kos), the former South American light heavyweight champion, in the eight-round main event.
Dorchester (MA) pwysau trwm DonnieBig Nasty” Palmer (8-1-1, 7 Kos) faces unbeaten Quian Davis (4-0-2, 2 Kos), of Mays Landing (NJ), in a four-round bout.
2016 Lloegr Newydd Golden bencampwr Menig Anthony Laureano (2-0, 1 KO), fighting out of East Hartford (CT), meets Schenectady (NY) cyn-filwr Bryan “The Brick” Abraham (6-23-1, 6 Kos) mewn gêm chwe rownd.
Fighting on the undercard in four round bouts are Worcester cruiserweight Bryan Daniels (3-0, 1 KO) vs. Mexican invader Jose HumbertoOlympicoCorall (19-23, 12 Kos), Worcester pwysau plu Andino Ranse (1-0) vs. Mike Hellenfinger (0-2), o Harrisburg (PA), three-time USA Boxing Nationals champion Elvis Figueroa, o New Haven (CT) makes his pro debut vs. Brazilian super middleweight Devision Robiero (0-3), Worcester welterweight Andy Gonzalez (5-1, 5 Kos) vs. Brockton’s Antonio Chavez Fernandes (7-30-4, 2 Kos), 2014 N.E. Pencampwr Menig Aur, Lawrence junior welterweight Adrian Sosa (2-0, 1 KO) vs. I'w drefnu), Worcester’s pro-debuting super middleweights Neal Sullivan vs. Nathan Schulte, Springfield (MA) Canol iau Derrick Whitley vs. Anthony Everett (104), o Lawrence, pro-debuting Springfield featherweight Luis “Pancho” Santiago vs. Alex Montes (1-2), o Lawrence, and unbeaten Manchester (CT) pwysau welter iau “Wych” Mykqyan Williams (5-0, 3 K0s) vs. TBA..

We had the biggest crowd of the season turnout for the finals. The draw was done by computer, so the marches were nice and fair. I really liked the way these boxers were matched. The fans here in Lowell have been appreciated for a long time watching good fights and we plan to keep that rich tradition going.
Western New England bantamweight Nathan Martinez, who defeated Joseph Valdez on points last night, was named the recipient of the Thomas Costello Memorial Award as the Most Outstanding Boxer.

.
New England will be sending a strong team to the National Golden Gloves,” Russo added. “We may only have three female boxers going to The Nationals, but each one of them have won national tournaments. Anyone of the male boxers on Team New England could win at The Nationals. I think Elvis (Figueroa), Yarmarco (Guzman) ac Josniel (Castro). I will offer the Team New England head coaching position to Luis Rosa from the winning Western New England team. We’ll also be brining Carlos Garcia (veteran coach from Worcester), who will be inducted into the National Golden Gloves Hall of Fame.)
