Due to a series of injuries, Sulktanakhmedov (18-5-0, M-1 ba-: 10-1-0) has been inactive for the past five years, since he knocked out Tyson Jeffries in the second round of their 2011 loantša ka M-1 ba-Bothata ba 24.
A former M-1 Selection champion, Sultanakhmedov is dropping down one weight class from middleweight to fight Romanov. During his MMA career, feared striker Sultanakhmedov has knocked out the likes of Dmitri Samoilov, Victor Nemkov, Pavel Kusch le Pliinio Cruz, har'a feta bahlomphehi.
His tremendous flair and style makes him a fan favorite, especially his “one-shoot, one-kill” attack. The 32-year-old has fought outside of his native Russia, in the United States and Japan, and during his fighting hiatus he served as referee.
Although he isn’t looking past Sultanakhmedov, fellow Russian fighter Romanov hopes that an impressive victory over Sultankhmedov will position him for his first M-1 Challenge title shot against the Kunchenkp-Rakhmonov winner.
Romanov has had impressive victories in M-1 Challenge competition, including a decision over against Brazilian foe Carlos Pereira last October at M-1 ba-Bothata ba 71, as well as a first-round stoppage via punches of Andreas Birgels this past June at M-1 ba-Bothata ba 68.
“I’ve been working on my strength,” Romanov said from his training camp, “because the champion in my weight class, Alexey Kunchenko, is physically strong. I need to catch up. Not that I’m looking forward to a title fight, but I always have grandiose plans, e le, we’ll see how that goes. Hona joale, I’m focused on Sultanakhmedov, and I think my fight with him would be no harder than a possible fight with Kunchenko.
“I started training camp with two workouts a day, but I felt sick and decided to cutback to only one workout a day until I soon return to full mode. I’ve been training at home (St. Petersburg) but will soon go to Ryazan to wrestling training camp. Ka nako eo, I will go back to St. Petersburg to prepare at camp, and go to Borovaya for boxing. My opponent is left-handed, so I need appropriate sparring partners, but the guys in my camp are a great help.
“I know my opponent well having watched his fights as a youngster when he was champion. Hona joale, we need to reevaluate him. He was a good fighter who trains at ‘Gorets’ where there is, in principle, guys there who are top level. It’s difficult to say what form he has now because he hasn’t fought in so long. Hona joale, he is at the peak age for a fighter, 32, so we’ll see. I don’t think I’ll be favored in this fight, but I will go forward despite being the underdog.”

 The 24-year-old Yusupov (6-0-0, M-1 ba-: 4-0-0), fighting out of Dagestan, Russia, will be making his first title defense having captured his coveted belt this past May at M-1 ba-Bothata ba 66, by way of a 5-round unanimous decision over defending champion Viktor Nemkov.Yusupov (2 KO / TKO, 1 SUB), representing Gorets fight club (Highlander), has three other victories in M-1 Challenge competition over Martin Zawada (DEC3), Mitry Madvedev (KO / TKO1 – Punch) le Charles Andrade (DEC3).
 Puetz, 29, has won six of seven M-1 Challenge fights going into fifth title fight. Also announced was a lightweight battle between former champion Artiom Damkovsky le Alexey “Mosebetsi” Makhno.
Kunchenko (14-0-0, M-1 ba-: 6-0-0), fighting out of Tyumen, Russia, will be making his first title defense. He defeated defending champion Abdulaev, who was unable to continue in round four of their fight this past April at M-1 ba-Bothata ba 65.
Abdulaev (15-4-0, M-1 ba-: 3-2-0), fighting out of Anapa, Russia, originally captured the M-1 Challenge welterweight title at M-1 ba-Bothata ba 58, ho qeto ho tloha Marcello Britoka June 6, 2015 for the vacant title.

Damkovsky (21-10-0, M-1 ba-: 11-7-0), fighting out of Minsk, Belarus, has a crowd pleasing style. His last fight resulted in a kick-knockout victory (see picture below) ea Maxim Divnich this past September at M-1 ba-Bothata ba 70.
 A native of Moscow, 26-year-old Makhno (13-4-0, M-1 ba-: 3-1-0) is a superior kicker and strong striker. Hae ea ho qetela ntoa, this past June at M-1 ba-Bothata ba 68, Makhno won a decision over Felipo Rego (see picture below).

Emeev (14-3-0, M-1 ba-: 8-1-0), who was the M-1 Global 2015 Ntoa se ea Year, returns to action after suffering a torn ligament in his elbow, which forced the Azerbaijan native to withdraw from his scheduled M-1 Grand Prix Middleweight Championship fight withAlexander Shlemenko.
The 29-year-old Emeev, fighting out of Makhachkala, Russia, first captured the vacant M-1 Challenge middleweight title in 2012, taking a 5-round unanimous decision from Mario Miranda ka M-1 ba-Bothata ba 35, and he successfully won the rematch five months later kaM-1 ba-Bothata ba 38, stopping Miranda via strikes in the third round.
 A 2014, Emeev lost his title belt to Vyacheslav Vasilevsky by way of a fourth-round knockout (punches) ka M-1 ba-Bothata ba 51 a 2014. The resilient Emeev, leha ho le joalo, bounced back to regain his throne as M-1 Challenge middleweight champion, using a choke hold to submit Vasilevsky in the opening round at
M-1 ba-Bothata ba 56.
Emeev has successfully defended his title against Luigi Fioravanti, who was unable to continue after four rounds at M-1 ba-Bothata ba 63, and this past April Emeev defeated Brazilian Maiquel Falcao (see picture above) ka M-1 ba-Bothata ba 65 in the first round by submission (bipetsa).
Tokov (24-2-0, M-1 ba-: 9-1-0), 26, is a former ABC champion who fights out of Stary Oskol, Russia. He is riding a 17-fight win streak, including knockouts of Enoc Solves Torres kaM-1 ba-Bothata ba 54 le Albert Duraev ka M-1 ba-Bothata ba 46.
