Former Fighting Cab Driver David Emanuel Peralta Moving to Miami to Train with Herman Caicedo
The world’s most unexpected top contender, red-hot welterweight David Emanuel Peralta, has left his cab-driving job behind in his native Argentina and will now be training with well-known coach Herman Caicedo at Caicedo Sports Training Center in Miami, Florida.
Peralta (26-2-1, 14 KO), who won a clear but surprising split-decision victory over multi-division world champion Robert Guerrero in August, will now find himself preparing for his upcoming fight in December beside several world-class names including Interim WBA World Heavyweight Champion Luis “King Kong” Ortiz, former WBA Super Bantamweight Champion Juan Carlos Payano, Claudio Marrero, Yenifel Vicente, Ramon Luis and many more top professionals.
33-year-old Peralta says he can’t believe the path his life has now taken.
“I am honored to be coming to the United States to train with a great trainer like Herman Caicedo and beside so many great names in the sport. I will train harder than ever to stay in boxing as a top fighter. Thank you to my promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, and to Herman for helping me do this.”
Caicedo, who has also trained several past champions including Shannon Briggs, Al Cole, Yuriorkis Gamboa and more, says Peralta is a welcome addition to his gym.
“I am excited to have David as part of the family of champions we are creating here at Caicedo Sports,” said Caicedo. “His win over Robert Guerrero has put him on the map, and I look forward to helping David get to the next level, the championship level.”
Promoter Lewkowicz, known for finding hidden gems in foreign boxing markets including Manny Pacquiao and Sergio “Çudi” Martinez among many others, says Peralta is on the prowl for his next victim.
“He will fight anyone,” tha Lewkowicz. “Any champion or top contender can say the word and we will fight them. David has great sparring partners available and the time to properly prepare. He is very, very dangerous to anyone in the world. He’s going to prove that.”

VERONA, NEW YORK (Dhjetor 19, 2015) – The 2015 boxing year culminated with a tremendous show at Turning Stone Resort Casino as WBA Interim Heavyweight Champion Luis “Real King Kong” Ortiz (24-0, 21 KO) closed the show by maintaining his title with a knockout-of-the-year candidate over Bryant “Nga – Nga” Jennings (19-2, 10 KO) in the seventh round of their scheduled bout live on HBO Boxing After Dark.
“Sot, there is a new era in the heavyweight division,” Ortiz, who landed a vicious uppercut to end the fight, tha. “Jennings is fighter who deserves much respect, but he can tell you that I am a force in the heavyweight division. I am going to go out and obtain my objective. “I have been training for a big fight of this magnitude for three years. My strategy was to keep him at a distance and I was able to do that effectively with my reach and my jab. I will fight whoever next, whoever Golden Boy Promotions gives me I will take. Shastis, Fury, Klitschko anyone of them, I am ready to prove that I am the heavyweight world champion. A lot of people say a lot of things about me, but the testing showed that I am a clean fighter.”
“I wasn’t on my game, and he got the best of me,” Jennings said. “I didn’t adjust well and he was the better man.”
The co-main event saw two Super Featherweights – former WBA Featherweight and Super Featherweight World Champion Nicolas “Axe Man” Walters (26-0-1, 21 KO) and Jason Sosa (18-1-4, 14 KO) — wage a superb battle with both fighters landing tremendous sharp, accurate shots throughout the fight. While Sosa won the fight on one of the judge’s cards, the fight was ruled a draw as the two other judges had the fight even.

“This fight was the most important and most exciting fight of my career,” said Shabranskyy. I did feel a lot of Gonzalez’ punches but I also feel like I hurt him — especially in the last round, he was beginning to sway. If I had a little more time I feel I would have knocked him out.”
“I knew that this was going to be a war and that is what we delivered tonight,” Gonzalez tha. “We both gave it our all and didn’t let up. I knew that I needed to knock him out to win this fight but he was more resilient than I thought and didn’t open up enough for the knockout to happened. I did know the fight was very close and should have been a draw in my opinion. I would like the opportunity to fight him again and prove that I am the better fighter.”
In the co-main of the HBO Latino broadcast, rising middleweight “Mbret” Gabriel Rosado (22-9, 13 KO) shook off some tough early rounds to earn a hard-fought unanimous victory against former IBF Welterweight World Champion Joshua “Grand Master” Clottey (39-6, 22 KO).
“It has been more than a year since I have been in the ring so I did feel a little I the rust but I feel like this fight really helped me shake it off,” Rosado said. Clottey is a tough opponent, Ish kampioni botëror, definitely a challenge for me in my first fight back. I delivered an entertaining fight tonight and I was happy with my performance. “It feels good to be back in the ring,” Gamboa said. “I trained in Cuba, and I feel that all the hard paid off. I was faster and stronger in the ring. I know I dominated the action tonight, I made sure he knew I was in control from the first round.”
“I felt good about the pace of the fight, I know I hurt him a few times,” Williams tha. “This fight should have gone my way.”
In a light heavyweight battle, rising prospect D’Mitrius “Big Meech” Ballard (11-0, 7 KO) won a shutout unanimous decision against a game Fabiano “Pit Bull” Pendë (11-4-1, 8 KO).
“I am glad I secured the victory today,” Ballard said. “[Pendë] was able to go all six rounds with me, but I felt in complete control the entire fight. I think I am ready to step up to more rounds and bigger opponents. I am ready for the next big step of my career and this fight showed that. I want to thank Oscar and Golden Boy Promotions for the opportunity and I can’t wait for the next fight.”

“The weather is warm out here in Florida, and John David Jackson is doing a great job as my new trainer. He’s a man that knows the fight game being that he was a fighter himself, a former world champion to be exact. The little things he’s showing me are making a big difference. I was happy that my promoter Gary Shaw came out to visit and see the progress I have made. We’re out here doing it. I believe I’ve become a better fighter, and it will show come fight night.
“This is a big fight for the heavyweight division. The interim WBA World heavyweight title is on the line. The winner will move on to bigger and better things. Everyone says he has a lot of power but his opposition is suspect. He’s a big slugger and I’m a boxer that gives a lot of movement. I believe I’m the one with the better skills and better pro experience. I’m winning this fight.
“I think it’s great. The sport needs to keep its integrity. Ortiz is a good fighter but he’s already shown that he has some insecurities. When a fighter gets caught cheating while using steroids to get an edge says a lot about that person. He paid his dues and now it’s time to fight. With VADA testing installed for this fight, everyone will be on an even playing field.
