Former Fighting Cab Driver David Emanuel Peralta Moving to Miami to Train with Herman Caicedo
The world’s most unexpected top contender, red-hot welterweight David Emanuel Peralta, has left his cab-driving job behind in his native Argentina and will now be training with well-known coach Herman Caicedo at Caicedo Sports Training Center in Miami, Florida.
Peralta (26-2-1, 14 Kos), who won a clear but surprising split-decision victory over multi-division world champion Robert Guerrero in August, will now find himself preparing for his upcoming fight in December beside several world-class names including Interim WBA World Heavyweight Champion Luis “King Kong” Ortiz, former WBA Super Bantamweight Champion Juan Carlos Payano, Claudio MARRERO, Yenifel Vicente, Ramon Luis and many more top professionals.
33-year-old Peralta says he can’t believe the path his life has now taken.
“I am honored to be coming to the United States to train with a great trainer like Herman Caicedo and beside so many great names in the sport. I will train harder than ever to stay in boxing as a top fighter. Thank you to my promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, and to Herman for helping me do this.”
Caicedo, who has also trained several past champions including Shannon Briggs, Al Cole, Yuriorkis Gamboa and more, says Peralta is a welcome addition to his gym.
“I am excited to have David as part of the family of champions we are creating here at Caicedo Sports,” said Caicedo. “His win over Robert Guerrero has put him on the map, and I look forward to helping David get to the next level, the championship level.”
Promoter Lewkowicz, known for finding hidden gems in foreign boxing markets including Manny Pacquiao and Sergio “Wonder” Martinez among many others, says Peralta is on the prowl for his next victim.

“I knew that this was going to be a war and that is what we delivered tonight,” Dúirt Gonzalez. “We both gave it our all and didn’t let up. I knew that I needed to knock him out to win this fight but he was more resilient than I thought and didn’t open up enough for the knockout to happened. I did know the fight was very close and should have been a draw in my opinion. I would like the opportunity to fight him again and prove that I am the better fighter.”

“It has been more than a year since I have been in the ring so I did feel a little I the rust but I feel like this fight really helped me shake it off,” Rosado said. “The weather is warm out here in Florida, and John David Jackson is doing a great job as my new trainer. He’s a man that knows the fight game being that he was a fighter himself, a former world champion to be exact. The little things he’s showing me are making a big difference. I was happy that my promoter Gary Shaw came out to visit and see the progress I have made. We’re out here doing it. I believe I’ve become a better fighter, and it will show come fight night.
“This is a big fight for the heavyweight division. The interim WBA World heavyweight title is on the line. The winner will move on to bigger and better things. Everyone says he has a lot of power but his opposition is suspect. He’s a big slugger and I’m a boxer that gives a lot of movement. I believe I’m the one with the better skills and better pro experience. I’m winning this fight.
“I think it’s great. The sport needs to keep its integrity. Ortiz is a good fighter but he’s already shown that he has some insecurities. When a fighter gets caught cheating while using steroids to get an edge says a lot about that person. He paid his dues and now it’s time to fight.
