Vera, of Fort Worth, Texas, has a perfect mark of 16-0 gyda deg knockouts, and is ranked No. 7 gan y WBA a Rhif. 14 gan y WBO.

Y 28 year-old southpaw has built that mark on the strength of beating good competition. He has defeated Alberto Robles (3-0) and Radmir Akhmediyev (7-0). He won the NABA title with a sixth-round stoppage over Joey Rueles (10-1-1). He has defended the title successfully twice with a second-round stoppage over Milorad Zizc (12-1), and in his last bout when he won a 10-round split decision over Salim Larbi on Ionawr 27 in Phoenix.

The 25-year-old Cantu (14-0, 1 KO), fighting out of Kingsville, Texas, is a pure boxer who is the reigning North American Boxing Federation (NABF) pencampwr, ranked Rhif. 3 by the WBO North American Boxing Organization (NABO) a Na. 6 by the NABA. He is a belt collector having been the former NABF Junior super flyweight, Cyngor Bocsio Byd (CLlC) Youth Intercontinental bantamweight and World Boxing Council (CLlC) United States super flyweight title holder.

Stephon Young wins WBA NABA title with decision over Tony Lopez Jr.

Nutley, NJ (Hydref 3, 2016)–Mae hyn yn y gorffennol Dydd Gwener nos, newly signed GH3 Promotions fighter Stephon Young turned in a terrific performance as he won the WBA NABA Bantamweight title with a ten-round majority decision over Tony Lopez Jr.
Mae'r bout, which was held at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, was televised live on CBS Sports Network.

Young controlled the final three-quarters of the bout as he used his speed and aggressiveness to win by scores 97-93, 96-94 ac 95-95.

Ifanc, 28 years old of St. Louis, raised his undefeated mark to 15-0-3 with six-knockouts.
“Roedd yn frwydr fawr. I have to give credit to Tony Lopez . It was an exciting fight, but I think he must have thought something different of me as I don’t think that they knew what they were getting themselves into,” Dywedodd Young.
“I was in tremendous shape. the fight was close in the first four rounds, and then I took over the bout.”
When asked what is next, Young knows that he will be ranked by the WBA and is looking for a world title opportunity.
“I am going to go back to the drawing board see what my manager (Henry Rivalta) and my promoter (GH3 Hyrwyddiadau), and keep busy. I am going to the top. This is only just the beginning, and it will get any better.”
“I am not going to say he is next, but I want to fight (WBA Bantamweight champion) Rau’she Warren. He beat me in the 2012 Olympic trials and we have some unfinished business.”

LAS VEGAS (Medi 30, 2016) — Late replacement Erik “El Trumpo” Ruiz upset Hanzel Martinez mewn heno “Knockout Night at the D” main event in front of another sold-out crowd at the outdoor Downtown Las Vegas Events Center.

Y “Knockout Night at the D” Cyfres, presented by the D Las Vegas and Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, is promoted by Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions. Hall Of Fame announcers Jim “J.R.” Ross ac Al Bernstein called the action from ringside with Sean Wheelock on CBS Sports Network in North America and internationally via ESPN.

Ruiz (16-5-1, 6 Kos) replaced Emmanuel Quartey, who was unable to secure a visa, and he was rewarded with a 10-round majority decision victory over fellow Mexican fighter Hanzel Martinez (23-3, 19 Kos) for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) International super bantamweight title.

“El Trumpo,” fighting out of Oxnard, California, put on a clinic, avoiding the lunging Martinez, who was frustrated throughout the fight by Ruiz’ slickness. Martiniz lunged, Ruiz countered and then he slightly moved to the side, avoiding any potential. Defensively, Ruiz was far superior, keeping Martinez off balance through out the majority of rounds.

“Rwy'n teimlo'n wych,” Ruiz exclaimed. “I took this last minute fight but I was ready for it. Hanzel is a tough fighter. He has guts. I didn’t think he’d to the full 10 rowndiau. This is an opportunity that will open a lot of doors for me. He knew he was coming to fight and I as ready for him.”

In a good technical fight with a lot of give-and-take action from start to finish, ddiguroStephon “Showstopper” Ifanc (15-0-3, 6 Kos) trechu Tony Lopez, Jr. (11-2, 4 Kos) in a battle of gritty southpaws. Fighting out of St. Louis, Young’s quickness prevailed over Lopes’ toughness, as both fighters put on a show for the vacant North American Boxing Association (Hefyd) bantamweight title in the co-feature. Young won a 10-round majority decision.

“Roedd yn frwydr galed,” Young commented. “My coach said, if you wan it, go get him. And I did. I knew what I was coming to get. People want to see me fight in this division.”

In the television opener, NABA USA super welterweight champion John “The Phenom” Vera (15-0, 10 Kos) made another strong statement under the neon lights, stopping challenger Milorad “Micko” Zizic (12-2, 7 Kos) yn yr ail rownd. Making his second title defense, Vera, a southpaw, served notice to all super welterweights, dropping Zizic twice and then staggering him again before referee Kenny Baylesscalled an end to the fight.

“I came out here to put on a show,” Vera said after the fight. “I dropped him (yn gyntaf) with a left-right. The second knockdown I feinted and hit him with a hard right jab. I then turned right-handed because I knew my right was working. I knew I had him.”

Las Vegas junior lightweight Randy Moreno cruised to his fifth win without a loss, unloading an unanswered barrage of punches on Fabian “El Suavecito” Alanez (1-1) until referee Jay Nady halted the fight in the second round.

The 22-year-old Lopez, fighting out of Dallas, is coming off of a jaw-dropping second-round stoppage of Jerren Cochran this past May at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center. The former WBC Youth Intercontinental bantamweight champion is rated No. 7 by the NABA.
“I remember growing up and watching all the greats as a young kid and thinking that’s going to be me someday,” Lopez said. “Thanks to RJJ, Neon Star and CBS Sports Network that dream is a reality. I’m a small town kid living out my dreams; I’m on the right path and the journey I am on is something big.”
Despite his opponent having an advantage in terms of their comparative amateur backgrounds, Lopez doesn’t feel that will be a factor in their fight, which he predicts will be very exciting.
“Amateurs are a different ball game,” Lopez commented. “It gave us knowledge and experience but at the end of the day, our records are just numbers. I don’t look at the numbers or the fighter, I’m only going to look at the fight because my job is to get in the ring and bring home the win.
“I’m a versatile fighter; if I have to brawl, I brawl but I can adjust to whatever I see fit. It’s going to be an exciting fight because I have everything I need to win. I’m a lot smarter in the ring and I’m coming to get the win.”
NABA rated No. 2 Ifanc, 27, is a southpaw with a rich amateur pedigree background having compiled an 86-13 cofnod, including a silver-medal performance at the 2011 National Golden Gloves Championships.
“I don’t really know too much about Lopez,” Young remarked. “I know he’s from Texas and he’s 11-1, which means he already know what it feels like to lose. He’s a decent fighter but nothing I can’t handle. I can fight any style, but one thing for sure and two for certain, whichever style I choose to fight will be a good showing. I’m coming to WIN!”
All three of his draws were fought on the road, including his last fight this past April at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, Efrog Newydd, in which he and 14-0 Nikolay Potapovbattled evenly for 10 rowndiau. Fodd bynnag, Young doesn’t appear to be overly concerned about fighting on the B side against an RJJ opponent.
“I really don’t worry about getting a win by decision,” Young explained. “I just feel like I will have to do a little more just to make it a one-way fight. And if the KO comes, I will love that.”

LAS VEGAS (Medi 14, 2016) — A championship tripleheader will highlight “Knockout Night at the D” ar ddydd Gwener nos, Medi 30, ddarlledu yn fyw (11 p.m. A / 8 p.m. PT) ar Rhwydwaith Chwaraeon CBS and internationally via ESPN (digital delay check local listings), outdoors from under the neon lights at Downtown Las Vegas Center Digwyddiadau(DLVEC).
Y “Knockout Night at the D” Cyfres, presented by y D Las Vegas and DowntownLas Vegas Events Center, is promoted by Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions.
Hall of Fame announcers Jim “J.R.” Ross ac Al Bernstein will call all of the action from ringside on CBS Sports Network and in English for ESPN internationally.
In The 10-round main event, Hanzel “Rude Boy” Martinez (23-2, 19 Kos) yn cymryd ar
Emmanuel Quartey (20-2, 19 Kos) for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) International super bantamweight championship.
Tony Lopez, Jr. (11-1, 4 KOs faces unbeaten Stephon “Showstopper” Ifanc (14-0-3, 6 Kos) for the vacant WBA North American Boxing Association (Hefyd) bantamweight title in the 10-round co-feature, while undefeated WBA-NABA USA super welterweight champion John “The Phenom” Vera (14-0, 9 Kos) makes his first title defense against Milorad “Micko” Zizic (12-1, 6 Kos) in an 8-round bout.
“This show has all the makings of the best ‘Knockout Night at the D’ show of the year with three title fights on tap,” RJJ Boxing Promotions CEO/Co-Founder Keith Veltre Dywedodd. “The six principal fighters have a combined record of 94-6-3 gyda 63 knockouts. All three of these title fights are evenly matched and can go either way. The winner of the main event should land a spot in the WBA’s top 15 ratings. And we plan to load up the undercard with many of Las Vegas’ most promising prospects.”
Martinez, 24, is a former World Boxing Council (CLlC) United States bantamweight champion. A native of Tijuana, Mecsico, Martinez is ranked No. 4 by the NABA, and on the verge of breaking out on the national boxing scene. He hasn’t fought since last December because his last fight was cancelled when he was injured in a car accident.
A former super flyweight champion at home in Ghana, Quartey like Martinez is a dangerous puncher who has experience in the ring. He will be making his United State debut Saith. 30 vs. Martinez.
The 22-year-old Lopez, fighting out of Dallas, is coming off of a sensational second-round stoppage of Jerren Cochran this past May at DLVEC. He is a former WBC Youth Intercontinental bantamweight champion, the belt he captured in 2014 with an 8-round unanimous decision from previously undefeated Isaac Torres (9-0) in Fort Worth. Lopez is rated No. 7 by the NABA.
Ifanc, 27, is rated No. 2 by the NABA. The southpaw was a decorated amateur boxer out of Saint Louis, compiling an 86-13 cofnod, including a silver-medal performance at the 2011 National Golden Gloves Championships. All three of his draws were fought on the road. His last was in his most recent fight, last April at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, Efrog Newydd, in which he and 14-0 Nikolay Potapov battled evenly for 10 rowndiau.
Vera’s brutal sixth-round knockout of 10-1-1 Joey Ruelas, also at DLVEC, earned the left-handed Vera his NABA-USA super welterweight crown. Fighting out of Fort Worth, Vera will be facing the toughest opponent of his 3 ½ year professional career.
Zizic, a native of Montenegro is a former International Boxing Federation (IBF) Youth and WBC Mediterranean middleweight champion. Ranked No. 14 by the NABA, Zizic now lives and trains in the capital of boxing, Las Vegas.
