This fight requires great preparation because he is going into the fight at a weight that’s higher than his normal weight and he is facing a very tough opponent.

“I think there has been a 180 degree turn in his career. I see this as a positive because he can really develop his ability and looks very well prepared.

 

“I would’ve liked to have seen him take a tune up fight instead because of his long layoff; I particularly didn’t want this fight.

“I matured over my years, once I had a kid and a family and I think the same has happened with Julio. Life becomes clearer when you put away the immaturity. You realize that you have a future and if you really want to access what’s available to you, then you are going to have to work hard and dedicate yourself to it.

 

“Going to Lake Tahoe and really working hard is a sign of maturity and I think that’s what Julio is going through right now. He really showed it by leaving his home and spending an extended period of time up there. To me that is a great indicator that he is mature, dedicated and taking this fight very seriously.

The árásargjarn hugarfar, 30-ára gamall Escandon captured the crown in his last start via a 12-round split decision over Canadian southpaw Tyson Cave last Desember. 11. Escandon was making his United States debut and triumphed in a tight fight by the scores of 117-111, 115-113 og 113-115.

 

Escandon was a top amateur -he represented Colombia in the 2004 Olympic Games- before turning professional in June 2006. Twenty of his initial 21 fights took place in his native Colombia while he’s also fought in Argentina and Panama. His lone defeat came in his first attempt at the interim WBA title on a split 12-round decision to Nehomar Cermenoon Aug. 10, 2013, í Panama. .

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC (Apríl 1, 2015) – During Miðvikudag final press conference at Le Bonne Entente in Quebec City, both Adonis “Superman” Stevenson og Sakio “The Scorpion” Taurus promised a knockout when they meet in the main event of the debut presentation of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) á CBSTelevision Network this Saturday, Apríl 4, á 3 p.m. OG/Noon PT.

 

The hard-hitting Stevenson (25-1, 21 Kos) will defend his light heavyweight world championship against former super middleweight world champion Bika (32-6-3, 21 Kos) in the main event from the Pepsi Coliseum í Quebec City.

It was good for Bika to hear that because it motivated him. He knows he has an opportunity to do something about it. Á laugardag afternoon he can change all that.

 

“If Stevenson does what he says he’s going to do – meet him in the center of the ring and go toe-to-toe – this is going to be a tremendous fight.

“I don’t think this is a big challenge for me. I’m ready to face the world champions and raise the bar higher. This is just another opponent for me.

 

“This is another step that will move me closer to facing the champions at 175 £. I want to put on a solid fight and show that I’m one of the best fighters in this division.

 

“A knockout is never a goal for me. I’m trying to show my work and my dedication in the ring, but usually that’s what happens. Usually I finish with a knockout but that is not my main goal. My main goal is to box and show my skills.

 

“My motivation is to face the champions. That’s why I work so hard every day in the gym. I will get there soon.
