WOMEN’S FIGHT AT NEF 29 IS A MATTER OF RESPECT

Tam sim TSO TAWM: Lewiston, Maine (Tej zaum 9, 2017) - “I wanna knock her out!” Those were the emphatic words of Alex Walker (3-1) when asked last weekend atNEF 28for her prediction on her upcoming fight with Sarah Ziehm (1-0). The crowd at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee erupted in response.

Walker and Ziehm are scheduled to face off when New England Fights (NEF) returns to the Colisee onSaturday, Lub rau hli ntuj 17, 2017 with the fight promotion’s next event, “NEF 29: STARS & STRIPES.Walker, a two-fight veteran of the NEF cage and a member of Lancaster, New Hampshire’s Team Kaze, has made it her mission to teach Ziehm a lesson in respect for what Walker viewed as acockyperformance in Ziehm’s debut earlier this year.

I have respect for 99% of the females I do battle with, but I do not respect her,” said Walker when reached for comment. “I don’t like the way she handled herself in her first fight, I think she needs to be humbled and I will do that in Juneif she even shows up! My manager told (NEF matchmaker) Matt Peterson to have a backup because she will come up with an excuse not to get a beating.

Ziehm made her MMA debut last February with a win over Nicole Burgess (0-2). She submitted Burgess in the third round after a dominant performance. (Of note, Walker also submitted Burgess in the third round just a few months earlier.) Ziehm trains with Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) nyob rau hauv Lewiston.

This will be a good battle,” predicted Ziehm. “Alex is a seasoned and skilled warrior. I’m not underestimating her at all. I’m excited to get back into cage and do some work.

Denning entered the cage six days ago looking to break a four-fight skid. The Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) featherweight worked his ground game and submitted Josh Parker (5-9) with a Guillotine Choke in the first round. He donated a portion of his earnings for the fight to Derek Shorey’s (4-9) family members recently left homeless by a fire in Somersworth, New Hampshire. Denning has now vowed revenge for his teammate, Tollison Lewis (1-6), who fell to Jones last weekend, and he has committed to going undefeated for the remainder of the year.

I’m excited to continue my fighting career with New England Fights,” hais tias Denning. “I’m coming for another win against someone who just TKO’d my teammate. He seems like a nice kid and a solid wrestler, but I’m a better striker and have far superior jiu-jitsu! I’m not losing again this year! See you guys June 17th.”

After a takedown early in the first round, Dom Jones was able to do exactly what his nickname saysdominateagainst Tollison Lewis last Saturday night atNEF 28.Jones used his wrestling to smother Lewis, defending submission attempts in the process, and pounding a TKO win out of Lewis in the final minute of the first round. The bout was Jonesfirst in Maine after a lengthy amateur career in his previous home state of Florida. Jones predicts that he will be the one walking away with a two-fight win streak on Lub rau hli ntuj 17.

I’m excited for this match up,” stated Jones. “Wrestling versus jiu-jitsu! Ib zaug dua, our gyms clash! It’s a good fight for me. Denning has worked to get where he is now, and I respect his work he has put in. I have to fight smart and not get caught. Xws li June 17th, when that cage door closes, I’m walking out 2-0! Thank you NEF for having me again.

THE TIME FOR TALK IS OVER, NOW IT’S TIME TO FIGHT!

Lewiston, Maine (Lub peb hlis ntuj 1, 2017) – Tshiab England Fights (NEF) presents its next mixed-martial-arts event “NEF 28: INVINCIBLE” nyob rau hnub Saturday, Plaub Hlis Ntuj 29, 2017 nyob rau ntawm lub Androscoggin Bank Colisee nyob rau hauv Lewiston, Maine. Nyuam qhuav pib hnub no, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional featherweight bout to the card. Matt “Ken menyuam roj hmab” Denning (3-6) yuav ua tau raws li Josh Parker (5-8) ntawm ib tug sib ntaus luj ntawm 145-phaus.

The fight will mark the culmination of months of trash talking on social media between Denning and Parker’s camp. Denning, a member of Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Auburn, Maine and a veteran of the World Series of Fighting (WSOF) cage, will be looking to rebound from a loss to Ricky Dexter (1-0) lub hli tas los ntawm “NEF 27.

After Josh’s win over Derek Shorey, I wanted to fight him,” Denning said. “Rau ntawm daim ntawv, both of our last wins were against the same opponent (Shorey). I thought the fight made sense. We both have had a lot of fights against very tough fighters. Txij li thaum uas sib ntaus, there has been some Facebook bashing from Parker’s brother, and my response was for Josh to sign the contract. He was insulting me and trash talking, so I wanted to prove them wrong. There is no place in a fight where Parker can beat me and on April 29th, I’ll show that to the NEF fans. I’d like to thank (NEF owners) Nick (DiSalvo) and Matt (Peterson) for giving me another opportunity to fight for them. Tsis tas li ntawd, I’d like to thank Kill Their Will and all my family at CMBJJ for their ongoing support.

Parker’s victory over Shorey last November marked his return to the MMA cage after a three-year absence. He spent the vast majority of that time competing in the boxing ring, yet it was a submission that Parker used to overcome Shorey. For Parker, the head of Ruthless MMA & Boxing based in Benton, Maine, the fight with Denning is not business as usual. The nature of the trash talking has turned personal, and Parker vows vengeance for what he sees as disrespect on Denning’s part.

There comes a time in every fighter’s career that the fight has nothing to do with records or money,” hais tias Parker. “It’s to prove a point. My name has come out of this kid’s mouth too many times. Rau April 29th, I’m gonna shut it.

SHATTERPROOF AND RUTHLESS IN MAINE TURF WAR AT NEF 26

Lewiston, Maine (Lub kaum hli ntuj 4, 2016) – Tshiab England Fights (NEF) presents its next mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 26: SUPREMACY,” nyob rau hnub Saturday, Kaum Ib Hlis Ntuj 19 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Nyuam qhuav pib hnub no, NEF executives announced the addition of a professional featherweight bout to the fight card. Josh Parker (4-8) yuav siv sij hawm nyob rau hauv“Shatterproof 2.0” Derek Shorey (4-7) ntawm ib tug sib ntaus luj ntawm 145-phaus.

Parker is the head of Ruthless MMA & Boxing based in Benton, Maine. A regular in the NEF MMA cage during the early days of the promotion, Parker has spent the last several years competing in the boxing ring. He battled Elias Leland to a draw last November in a boxing bout at “NEF XX.” Parker predicts a finish in his long-awaited return to cage competition.

I want to thank NEF for the opportunity and Derek for taking the fight,” hais tias Parker. “Kuv zoo siab heev tau rov qab rau hauv lub tawb. I feel like I have a lot to prove. I will show up this time and I will finish this fightdon’t miss it!”

Derek Shorey, founder of the Shatterproof Combat Club at the Outlet in Dexter, Maine, is coming off a huge win in Rhode Island just over a week ago. It was the spark Shorey had been looking for after dropping his last four in a row in the NEF cage. Admittedly, Shorey is filled with both fear and excitement coming into the fight with Parker.

This is a fight that has scared the crap out of me in the past,” declared Shorey. “Nws yog ib tug loj, strong 145er that has good movement and boxing. Standing and trading could end horribly for either of us. His strength may be enough to keep my slams in check and I’m not a jits expert, so he can probably power out of whatever I throw at him. It’s a puzzle I’m both excited and terrified to tackle.

Josh Parker (0-2-1) yog teem rau lub ntsej muag Evincii “Prize Fighter” Dixon (7-13-1, 2 Kos) nyob rau hauv ib plaub-round contest.

Josh Parker is the founder and head coach of Ruthless MMA & Boxing based in Benton, Maine. Prior to entering the boxing ranks, Parker was a regular in the NEF MMA cage. He boxed to a draw against fellow NEF MMA alum Elias Leland (0-0-1) last November in Lewiston. Uas nyuam qhuav, Parker dropped a decision to undefeated Julio Perez (4-0) on a boxing card in Rhode Island. He is hungry for his first victory as a professional boxer.

“I want to thank NEF for another opportunity to fight,” hais tias Parker. “I have a lot to prove. My skills have not been reflected in my past few performances. I’ve switched up some aspects of my training and I’m confident that I will finally be able to bring the real me to the ring. I will be facing an experienced opponent who will present some tough challenges for me – which is exactly what I wanted. The toughest opponent I’ve ever faced is myself, and now that I’ve figured him out, it doesn’t matter who’s standing in front of me.”

A veteran of more than twenty professional fights, Evincii Dixon has been one of the northeast’s most active boxers since his debut in the summer of 2013. Dixon, who calls Lancaster, Pennsylvania his home, often fights multiple times in a given month in places as far away as Texas, California and, tsis ntev los no, Ohio. He made the 500-mile trek to Lewiston, Maine last month, picking up a win in the NEF ring against Antonio Chaves Fernandez (7-26-3). Dixon will be looking to get back in the win column at “NEF 22” after a loss last weekend.

TSHIAB Kev ua si nawv, UAKE sib ntaus sib tua mob siab rau kev Josh Parker

Lewiston, Maine (Kaum Ib Hlis Ntuj 5, 2015) - Tshiab England Fights (NEF), America lub xov tooj-ib regional sib ntaus qib, yuav tuav nws tom ntej no kev tshwm sim, “NEF XX: Ib tug ua phem” rau Saturday, Kaum Ib Hlis Ntuj 21, 2015 nyob rau Androscoggin txhab nyiaj Colisée nyob rau hauv Lewiston, Maine. The event will feature a first for Maine – mixed martial--arts (MMA) bouts and professional boxing bouts on the same event with an MMA cage and a boxing ring set up side-by-side. In a featured lightweight professional boxing match, Josh Parker (0-1) tau kos npe rau lub ntsej muag Elias “Txaus ntshai nas” Leland (0-0) nyob rau hauv ib plaub-round contest.

Thaum lub bout yuav Parker tus thawj boxing match nrog NEF, he is no stranger to longtime fans of the promotion. Parker was a regular on NEF MMA cards during the early days of the company. He put together a record of 4-8 as a professional MMA competitor over the course of five years. Parker feels that he has found his true home not in the MMA cage, tab sis nyob rau hauv lub boxing nplhaib.

“Boxing yog ib tug zoo dua haum rau kuv vim hais tias kuv yeej ib txwm hlub lub standup ib feem ntawm MMA,” sau Parker. “Thaum twg kuv twb muaj cov txiv hmab txiv ntoo Brandon (9-1) sib ntaus sib tua thiab pib xav txog kev cai uas ib leeg, Kuv paub kuv tau pom kuv lub yeej muaj tseeb hauj lwm dab tsi. Kuv txiav luam yeeb kuv txoj hauj lwm, pib tsim tau ib tug sib ntaus pab, and have done nothing but study and train since. My plan is to stay very active, Kuv xav mus tua txhua txhua ob peb lub hlis yog tias ua tau.”

Raws li sau tseg, Parker pib nws boxing hauj lwm nyob rau hauv lub caij nplooj ntoos hlav ntawm 2014 thaum nws txais ib bout nrog Brandon Berry nyob rau hauv North Anson, Maine. Parker held his own in the bout, eventually dropping a four-round decision. Fans have speculated that there would be a rematch at some point down the road between the two.

“Koj paub, tus neeg ib txwm hais tias, tab sis kuv yeej tsis quav ntsej txog sib ntaus sib tua Brandon dua,” hais tias Parker. “Koj saib cov sib ntaus thiab qhia rau kuv yuav ua li cas lub tsev hais plaub tuaj mus nrog cov qhab nia uas lawv tau ua. That fight was on five weeks of boxing training. Now I’ve had a year and a half. If he’s standing in the path on the way to the top then so be it, tab sis nws tsis yog ib yam dab tsi kuv tab tom xav txog.”

Yuav ua li cas yog nyob rau Parker lub siab yog nws sib ntaus pab – Phem MMA & Boxing. Opened in 2014 thiab raws li tawm ntawm Benton, Maine, Ruthless is one of the standout new teams emerging on the Maine fight scene consisting of scrappy young athletes. In founding the team, Parker yog hais tseeb tias nws yog tsuas xav nyob rau hauv kev cob qhia cov neeg uas yog yam hais txog sib tw raws li neeg tua hluav taws.

Ruthless is different because I’m not in it for the money. I don’t take people who are just trying to get in shape or learn about MMA or boxing. We don’t do ‘classes. We fight, txhua txhua hnub. I’m building a fight team. When we fight, peb nyob nraum nrhiav rau lub finish.”
